Disney has been locked in a culture war in Florida with Ron DeSantis for some time now, namely over Disney's protective tax status of much of their property holding a special tax status and allowing self-governance. DeSantis, as governor of Florida, revoked that special status when Disney proclaimed they would use every bit of their influence to help push the LGBTQ ideology in their films, television and other media. This was in response to the so-called don't say gay bill passed by the DeSantis administration earlier. Disney claimed that because of the governor's action, they would be cancelling a building project that was reportedly to move the world famous Disney Imagineers from California to Florida. However, company memos have been released showing that since the return of Bob Iger as CEO of Disney, that project was being scrapped before any of the controversy with DeSantis began.
