#disney is often praised in the media for its representation, particularly for the #lgbtqia community. When you look at those examples of representation however, Disney falls quite short of actual representation. For example, the lesbian kiss in Star Wars Episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker lasted approximately 4 second and featured no main characters. #starwars isn't the only example. Disney's live action remake of #beautyandthebeast shows a hint of the possibility that LeFou might be gay, by showing him unintentionally dancing with another man. If Disney and its properties wanted to actually have good minority representation, they would write engaging, three dimensional characters who grow through good storytelling.
