Dragon Ball (and anime in general) do a very interesting job in dancing between eastern religious conventions as well as western. Christian ideas and imagery are rampant in anime, but not always in accurate ways. Dragon Ball is no exception when it comes to the concept of demons. Japanese actually has several words for different kinds of demons, but the English "demon" is the closest conceptual translation. It's funny to note though that in both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Daima, the Demon King Dabura is protrayed as literally Satan.
