The new Dune movies are absolutely fantastic, but if you're unfamiliar with the series some of it can be a bit surprising, if not jarring. The first thing that struck me was the several examples of very normal and very Earth names in the Dune universe. The main character's name is Paul, his mother is named Jessica and even on of the Atreides soldiers has the surname Idaho. It's definitely weird at first, but eventually it stops bothering you.
