Titanic is a movie that is chock full of metaphors, symbolism and read-between-the-lines storytelling. One of the biggest metaphors is the heart of the ocean, which simultaneously represents Cal's perceived ownership of Rose's heart and the true love that Jack and Rose share. The necklace ultimately becomes a symbol of their love when Rose asks Jack to draw her wearing only the Heart of the Ocean.
