One of a major faults of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is that there were just too many characters. On top of the surplus of characters, many of them made little to no sense. Harry Obsorn for example was never mentioned in the prior movie, even in passing. Even though the first movie mentions Norman Osborn and Gwen Stacy works at Oscorp. The fact that Peter Parker and Harry were friends when they were younger is never mentioned, but is shoehorned in so they could get the Green Goblin.
