The Cage was the first of two Star Trek pilots. After watching the episode, executives at NBC initially rejected it, but they ordered a second pilot with some changes. This was the first episode we watched in our Star Trek watch along podcast, The Final Frontier. After watching it for the first time, Justin says that while he liked it, he understands why it wasn't picked up as a series based on this episode.
