The episode Charli X had a lot of firsts for Star Trek. One of these firsts was the use of a lighting/shot combination where a shadow is cast over an actor's face, but then the eyes are lit up. It's not a bad shot, but what's funny is they use this in a scene with William Shatner's Captain Kirk and Charlie in the gym, but as soon as the dialogue returns to normal the lighting goes back to normal.
