WALL-E director Andrew Stanton has described WALL-E as a Christian movie, pointing to themes and ideas that he believes connect the story to Christianity. And while we can absolutely see the religious and biblical parallels that people have found in the movie, we’re not convinced that WALL-E is actually a Christian movie.
So today we’re diving into WALL-E, Andrew Stanton’s interpretation of the film, the Christian themes people see throughout the story, and why we think there’s a pretty big difference between a movie containing Christian themes and a movie actually being a Christian movie.
Is WALL-E secretly a Christian allegory? Is Andrew Stanton right about his own movie? Or are we reading WAY too much into a movie about a cute little trash-compacting robot and a futuristic society that has completely destroyed the Earth?
We’re breaking down WALL-E, Pixar, environmentalism, religion, biblical symbolism, Christian movie interpretations, robots, humanity, and one of the strangest debates you can have about a Pixar movie.
And much, much more!
