[00:00:00] Welcome to today's episode of the part of your world, a part of your broadway world podcast. Today we are here with MC Hoffman, okay Mary Kate Hoffman to talk about her time in theater and at Disney. So let's welcome her in. Hi. Hi. How are you?
[00:00:54] I'm good. How are you? Good. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed by me. Absolutely. I'm so happy to be part of it. So I just kind of wanted to talk to you about because when we were talking, you said that you grew up doing theater. Absolutely.
[00:01:18] And you were also part of the Disney Studios. Yes. You were part of the Disney Studios. For sure. How about we first talk about what you did in theater first? Sure. So in theater I worked with a local theater company in Virginia.
[00:01:37] A few greats have come out of there including Grant Kustin. It's just such a good community to grow up with. We did a lot of Disney shows. I did Mulan, Aladdin. We also went over and did Hello Dolly and just an array of musicals. It was so nice.
[00:01:59] I really got to feel what it would feel like to be in New York without being in New York yet. It really developed me. And then speaking of New York then, have you been to New York then? I have, yes absolutely.
[00:02:16] So I have trained in New York with a few people including some Foster. I absolutely love New York but right now I'm based in Los Angeles. I had to turn that on because I forgot to turn that on before you started. I love it. Thank you.
[00:02:35] No, I didn't. Yeah. You said that you work with some Foster? Yes, absolutely. Oh my goodness. So now you said that I got to know what was that like? Sure. Oh my gosh, she is so so kind and she helped me.
[00:02:53] We did, I believe it was vocal lessons only. We didn't do any of like dance or anything but oh my gosh, she's so helpful. She is so knowledgeable. And the technique that I learned just from her. Oh my gosh. I was just so grateful.
[00:03:13] That is just like so cool because I mean, I love, I love some Foster. I love her. You're sure? She's amazing. I wanted to see her so bad and like everything but I never get chance to have never been to New York.
[00:03:30] I want to go to New York so bad. I'm going next year. Oh my gosh. Yeah. That's awesome. Oh you have to get some juniors while you're there. Yeah. Oh my sister's father in law made that cheesecake and now I want the real thing.
[00:03:51] I need the real thing. I need the real thing. Oh my gosh, it is so good. I am obsessed. You cannot leave New York without having it so you definitely have to get it.
[00:04:05] I'm like, and my cousin lives in Brooklyn and she lives like right by that place. So yeah. Perfect. Oh my gosh. Yes, look forward to it because it is the best and it's right by Broadway too.
[00:04:19] So like you're going to see if you go to see shows then you can just get it on the way or if you're going to go visit then I would definitely. Oh my gosh. It's just it's the best. I'm like, I'm just going to visit all the time.
[00:04:36] Um, so then who else did did you work with other than son? Yeah, so I've worked with quite a few people. I can't think off the top of my head, but I went to several camps. There's a camp called destination Broadway.
[00:04:56] They are amazing. I highly recommend them. They're all professionals themselves. So one girl, she was Glinda and wicked. They'll have people from Aladdin the musical come this year. The location is Orlando but still the same amount of talent.
[00:05:14] And they I highly recommend them all the time because that's how I got to work with Michael rafter. And the next one is you would probably know him for like Jersey boys Shrek and a few others. He's incredible. And that was how I got to work with him.
[00:05:35] Jay Johnson was another one that I really loved. We did a dance intensive together and oh my gosh, I'm, I was a dancer first before anything so dance is always like my first interest and then everything just kind of came along. Yeah.
[00:05:53] That is like, I still can't and I'm came and get still came get over the fact that you met like famous Broadway stars. Absolutely. Like, it's just wild. It's wild to me. I mean I've met some two like I'm friends with actually some so.
[00:06:11] Oh no way. Oh so cool. New tool friends through new tool friends. I love it. Yeah. So, oh my gosh, they're just they're so knowledgeable about their craft that it's like any like slight information from them is just so helpful like.
[00:06:30] Yeah, because I usher at my local theater. So I can very cool. I can see those a lot of those first for free. I saw a deck of little pill recently. Oh, that's a good one. Oh, I see your poster. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:06:48] That's awesome. Yeah, and I'm friends with Sean Allen Krill who played Steve Healy in the Broadway production. I'm friends with him because very cool because because our theater director is friends with him and I'm friends with her so that's how that kind of worked out.
[00:07:05] Oh my gosh. Yeah. I love it. Oh my gosh, I love that.
[00:07:09] And sometimes sometimes indeed like it's sometimes with some of my dear friends. I just end up being friends with him because I comment on something on their Instagram and I post my stories and they talk to me and then we end up being friends and I'm like how does this happen.
[00:07:26] It's amazing isn't it. Yeah. It's just one step, you know one step closer each time. Yeah, it is. It's so wild. I love it. So then to also lead into the Disney side of the Broadway. Sure. You said you worked on Beauty and the Beast, Mulan. Yes.
[00:07:55] And then kind of kind of a seller. So why don't you tell me about that and how that was.
[00:08:00] I love Disney shows just because you get to really experience like all sides of things. So when you do like for me and when I did Disney shows, I would get information like on the costumes on the way they train.
[00:08:15] I choreographed for the Little Mermaid. And that was so interesting because you know they have to be on like rolling movie.
[00:08:26] Yeah, the Heelys. Yeah, absolutely. And the training for that is just so interesting itself. So even though I love like singing acting and dancing I also love to learn like that side of it. It's totally separate but it's just it's so interesting.
[00:08:47] And Disney really like they're very, very specific about their shows and that's what I love. So yeah. Yeah, my friend, my friend was like, and she's like kind of critical because she is in New York and she's in theater too.
[00:09:06] But my friend, Lamella, she was like, I just I didn't like the Little Mermaid because of the Heelys. I think it looked weird. It didn't look right. Like they're mermaids. They don't like come on. Yeah.
[00:09:19] And I'm like, okay, yeah, yes, I can see that. I can kind of see that. But also what what what you expect them to do? What do you expect them to do? I do something. You can't expect them to just like fly. It's not the entire show.
[00:09:37] Like it's not Peter Pan. It's insane the amount that they go through to learn all of that and to be able to sing and act and do the Heelys at the same time. It's oh my gosh, it's incredible. And Heelys are hard to like you do one.
[00:09:59] You do one wrong move and you're fly on your ass. You're done. Yeah, absolutely. Oh my gosh. I love it. Oh, it's so funny. It is. And then you work on Beauty and the Beast, you said too. Yes, yes. Oh, my favorite is the song.
[00:10:26] Oh gosh, what's it called? Sorry, I'm so bad with names, but there was one song and they actually took it out of the movie, the live action. And I was so sad because that that song is absolutely incredible.
[00:10:42] Alan Mink and I love him. I think he's amazing and his music. He took a lot of that of his songs. Like is this home? That song's out of it.
[00:10:56] Out. It's so rough because it's like these custom made songs just for the musical are missing and I love them. So yeah, I love Alan Mink and I love his work. I also worked on Aladdin and that was that one's incredible.
[00:11:15] Really, that was one I did a few times and I then went to see it on Broadway too. And oh my gosh, I don't know if you've seen it on Broadway. Not yet. Oh, the quick changes are for ensemble are insane.
[00:11:32] They are changing like every few minutes and they don't miss a beat. So we kind of took inspiration from the musical itself for the second time that I did it.
[00:11:45] And you really went at it with like the costume changes and oh my gosh, like it is very rough but it's worth it to learn something that intense. Yeah, definitely. Well even like stuff like Hades Town. Hades Town is so rough. Oh my gosh.
[00:12:09] Like the movement wise that's rough. There's a bunch of dancing. There's a whole bunch of dancing. A lot of dancing. Especially during Persephone. A lot of Persephone songs are a lot of choreo and I'm like, how do without breaking?
[00:12:40] Absolutely. And it's just it takes so much and I think that's what I love about it. It's not easy. No, I mean, none. No, for Rachel it's easy but like that one particular is like what the fuck. I think they should study that one. No, yeah.
[00:13:01] It needs a further study. Oh wow. And then you have something like Dear Manhattan which is so like simple but like also. Yes. But also very hard because of the topics. Right? Yeah.
[00:13:20] So you've got to come across the right way and oh he did such a good job with that too. Yeah, but you're right like certain topics like even with like rent and just different shows it's I think it's amazing.
[00:13:43] The acting side of it even though it's not a play it's got to come through the right way and yeah. And like Jagged little pills exactly like that too like all that. Yeah, no you're right. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And I'm just like how do you do it?
[00:14:03] Well even like that because that even got like some critics and like a lot of people were mad about how they were coming across like. Sure. Lauren Patton got a lot of heat with like that one line. I don't know if you saw that. Um, I haven't no.
[00:14:27] Like apparently like she said some some like in an interview she said something and like people were pissed because like she was they thought like they were talking to she was talking about down the trends or whatever. I don't know. Oh yeah but it's hard though. Absolutely.
[00:14:47] It's hard to I have a lot of friends who are trying to open shows right now off Broadway and they're even like they just you try to get it right and you can't get it right for everyone always you know so yeah.
[00:15:04] Because they were mad because there was like a line in that show for Joe, okay Lauren Patton in that for Joe in that production in Cambridge about specifically about trends and to make trans people be seen and stuff but then Broadway it was different.
[00:15:25] And people were mad about that. But it's like Broadway Broadway and out of town try it's they are different things are they are they're different. Absolutely. It's not going to be the same for sure. No it's like.
[00:15:42] I understand where they're coming from because it's like a big like. Partridge. Yeah, but like still. Like it's them it's not her it's the right. No it's good to it's good to see both sides for sure you know yeah yeah yeah.
[00:16:05] But yeah getting off of the sad stuff. I wanted to talk about your time at the Walt Disney Studios to. Yeah, absolutely. So I worked at their studio so each studio usually has a studio store.
[00:16:28] It's specific to some well it's a little bit different so Warner Brothers will be for the Warner Brothers tour for Disney is only for the people on the lot. So you're meeting like animators movie like people and it's it's a whirlwind it's great.
[00:16:50] I did a lot of helping with like. Getting people ready for premier is getting things ready like if someone needed 1000 Olaf's we would get those 1000 Olaf's and have them ready for any situation.
[00:17:07] So we worked a lot with celebrities and a lot with directors and it was it was really a great time. So wait, so. Correct me correct me here because I is Warner Brothers Warner Brothers and the did Disney Studios those are two different studios.
[00:17:28] Two different yes yes but very close by. Okay. So they're like not working like together kind of there's kind of like don't have any. So they're on different lots but sometimes they will merge if they're using like the other person's, you know, lot.
[00:17:46] But yeah they're they're separate entities. Same with like dream work Sony Universal they're all just different so yeah. Okay. Okay, because I always wondered that because I seen like a bunch of Disney movies. Sure have the Warner Brothers logo so I'm like. Okay.
[00:18:08] Yeah yeah so sometimes they'll use like different if they need like a set or something. They do like to use each other's that's so it does happen and you'll see that logo just to give credit for that so. Okay, okay.
[00:18:25] That's why I always wonder at I was curious. Because I just never knew it's so interesting honestly the film film is amazing but yeah they like to partner up. It's good. So then have you been been in.
[00:18:46] Wait so remind me again where are you are you when you're in California. So I am in California I'm in Los Angeles I'm right by the studios. I do a lot of film which is great I did a Disney commercial which was so fun.
[00:19:03] And yeah I'm just working my way up so yeah, I love the film side of it. I like doing 12 takes at a time. And can you can you mention what the Disney commercial was for or are you. I'm under NDA otherwise I would but yeah it's all right.
[00:19:24] But yeah, it's just the opportunities are absolutely incredible out there. We've I worked with universal at one point and just the film industry is so relaxed it's so different from Broadway like even the auditions like auditions for probably you know you go in. Yeah, yeah.
[00:19:46] Do not look at them do not speak to them like nothing. And I feel like the more I go into Los Angeles auditions even on zoom people are very relaxed and very calm and very like do you want to go surfing after this.
[00:20:02] So it's just a completely different atmosphere. Yeah. Yep, that was my next question was like how different is it from like from when you did theater to your.
[00:20:15] Jordan yeah absolutely and it leaves room I guess it leaves room for mistake not too much but you do get another take instead of a dock and pay so. Yeah.
[00:20:30] Like yeah I love it you people complain you know they're like this is like my 20th take but for me I like live off of that.
[00:20:39] Yeah, I mean because I feel like that's nicer because you have more opportunities to make the mistakes and then you know getting to go back and make that and correct that mistake as many as many times as you need to. Absolutely. Where isn't theater.
[00:21:00] You make a mistake that's it. You're out there you're on stage already. Yeah, yeah. I tried to learn how to do film acting once. Uh huh. It did not go well. No. I thought totally different. I thought you know film acting would be easier. Yeah.
[00:21:24] I can start to do lessons. I did one lesson. I quit I'm like I can't do it anymore like I can't it's hard. It is it's a lot of work. Sorry. No it's completely different you're fine it's like.
[00:21:43] She kept having me do the lesson over and over like the same line over and over in different ways I'm like. I can't. I can't figure it yeah.
[00:21:57] Oh my god and like I'm reading it but you can tell that I'm reading it and not like actually saying like. Yes that's the biggest thing especially when. When doing like self tapes it is so like my brother Charlie he's an actor too.
[00:22:14] He keeps me in check because of you like you're reading like you're reading because when no one's there and when like the camera is not really there it's just your phone or it's like a setup. Yeah.
[00:22:26] You're just you have to stay on it and it's it's a little rough. And this is so it's just like you know what I'm gonna not do anymore. I'm not gonna film. I was trying to be an actor but it's like hard and like.
[00:22:44] Well keep practicing keep doing you because you've got this you know yeah. I really don't think I do. No. You're sweet and thank you but I don't think I do. It's the it's the 12th take you're like no I'm done I'm done.
[00:23:05] So like I might just start to try to do learn about theater acting and try to do that because I feel like that's a much easier beast to tackle. Yeah no go for it absolutely all the way. Yes.
[00:23:19] I mean I know the wheelchair but like but Ali Stroker is in a wheelchair and she's on Broadway. She's living it up on that way.
[00:23:31] That's right exactly I wouldn't let anything hold you back from what you want to do because honestly no matter what if you put your mind to it you can do it absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:23:49] So I asked a little bit about your Broadway history and then also the Disney side of it but I'm not sure like the you also said that you worked at the Disney stores. Correct. Yes. Yes. What was that.
[00:24:14] So different from like everything that like the working on at the studios.
[00:24:20] Yeah yeah so so basically it was more just catering to the atmosphere around me so anything could happen honestly like even though we were a Disney store we still we had daily things daily requests that you'd be like oh my gosh how are we going to do that but we get it we would get it.
[00:24:43] We would get it done miraculously. A lot of another thing is like we gave this atmosphere where people could feel comfortable to have and I kid you not they would have meetings right in the store.
[00:24:59] And it was just such a safe environment for them that it just felt comfortable and that also helped with the animators and and especially the editors because when you're editing for you know eight hours at a time.
[00:25:15] They get tired and so they come in and that would be like their chill time for them and we make sure of it and.
[00:25:23] Really it was just it was amazing it was a different thing every day we had different people every day that was amazing I love meeting people that are really in the business and even people that like I've I'm like you created my childhood like that is amazing.
[00:25:44] Oh yeah it's just it was such a cool experience. Have you been to the Walt Disney family museum yet. I have not yet visited I've seen pictures and I follow the Instagram and everything but I just haven't been over that way.
[00:26:02] Okay because I've seen I follow their Instagram and if it's all there I think they have a TikTok. Yeah yeah. And I follow that I follow both of those accounts religiously because I'm like I need that to see that and. Yes. But it's so cool yeah. Oh cool.
[00:26:27] Yeah. Oh if you're ever in Burbank it is just so historic to Walt Disney he you can see him everywhere from like from the studio to the restaurant down the street you're going to see where he had a part in that town so it's really neat.
[00:26:47] And that's like another reason why I want to visit California too because I there are places historic places there where Walt Disney was. I believe there is a if I'm if I correct there's a place where you can visit his actual office. Absolutely. And see that. Yeah.
[00:27:12] It's really neat. You can sit in the desk but you know you can look at it. You can look at it. Oh my god. Maybe you could sit in that desk though like please right I want to take a picture sitting on his chair.
[00:27:31] Your LinkedIn your new LinkedIn. Your profile picture seriously though seriously though I would die. I mean what a great man so. Yeah. Because I have and this is like a little sneak peek of next week's episode I interviewed someone who.
[00:28:02] Who created this documentary called Beyond the Glass the Walt Disney World the WDW animation building. Yes, yes. And I don't know if you've seen that on TikTok I feel right. I have I've seen stuff about it absolutely yep I interviewed the creator of that the one interviewed. Wow.
[00:28:27] I can't wait to watch. So that's coming out next week. And I'm excited. I didn't know about any of anything about the Walt Disney World animation building. It's really really cool yeah absolutely and you can even see like the remaining of it and.
[00:28:50] It's crazy but yeah I would love if they started stuff in Florida again but you know you never know. Because I don't know they had like a thing was that it was that building where like.
[00:29:05] What was that a different building in Walt Disney World where like you can go in and. Learn how to draw. Yes, that was one of that was one of the buildings to that was like the animation experience. Oh what's it called for real.
[00:29:23] But I love doing that as a kid oh my gosh. I know and they have one that I was really sad that they got rid of it. Me too it was like favorite. So I think they still if I'm right they still have it in California venture.
[00:29:40] So I went immediately when I think I went like a few years ago now but I went and I was like oh I want to experience this again. Yeah yeah it's so crazy.
[00:29:53] Yeah because apparently in Florida we can't have nice things California has to be nice things so we can't get all the nice things. Maybe soon maybe soon right.
[00:30:06] Even like I don't know if you've seen on TikTok to the Tokyo Disney see got that frozen and where I tangled right and I'm like how do they do the Cape. How do they have you seen that. Yes I've seen both of those.
[00:30:23] How do you do the Cape. I need to know how they did it and the tangled one the tangled one. I would cry. I would literally cry they did the lantern scene and everything and like they did every single thing I'm like.
[00:30:38] First of all, why do they like what like okay. I told I texted my friend that said me sent me this and I'm like why can't we have nice things. That's exactly what I said my friend. Like why don't we get that. Oh my gosh.
[00:30:59] Like, why can't we have those pretty things we can have pretty things. You do have the guardians right though so I'm giving that that guardians right is amazing. It's not but okay. It's not but okay. My my favorite my favorite is the the one in Disney California venture.
[00:31:27] It's like the Tower of Terror but they replaced it and just the energy that you get it's not even the ride. Yeah, it's just the energy of like that music Chris Pratt and that.
[00:31:40] Like, oh my gosh the crowd is amazing every time so that's one of my favorites for sure. I've never seen I will let you know a little secret. I have never seen a single garden. You're kidding. Never seen a one. Okay.
[00:31:59] You have to just at least if anything if you watch anything watch the first one. Okay.
[00:32:08] James Gunn is well you know I'm I'm a James Gunn Scooby-Doo fan and so I went immediately to watch Guardians you know it the colors and Chris Pratt and I'm biased but just the movie the music the colors everything together is amazing.
[00:32:29] It is so good and I watch like POVs of people like riding the guard going to the galaxy ride at Disney World. I'm like, I don't get it. I don't get the story. Like you don't get the story yet. Oh yeah.
[00:32:43] I think you do have to watch it for that one just understand this does not compute. I don't I don't understand what is going on. Yeah.
[00:32:55] It's a watch it you'll love that ride a little bit more I think like in my brain as I'm watching those POVs it's just like that that swirling like little thing that that computers gave me freezes just like that. Like a mean to understand mean to understand.
[00:33:17] Yes, I can see where that would come in absolutely. Oh my God. What what what you said about the gout gardens the galaxy replacing the tower of terror in California. Why did they do that? I don't understand that.
[00:33:36] So it's very, very much like something that some people are like no I want a tower of terror. I am different. I love that they did it just because I love the the queue itself.
[00:33:54] The queue is amazing you have to watch like honestly it's not just guardians it's like Marvel movies in general. And there's just all these like Easter eggs throughout the queue and it's so good.
[00:34:13] And then they each time that you ride it's kind of like tower of terror each time you ride it's like a different drop, but it's different like soundtracks every time and they continue to add some tracks to it so it's like really really randomized.
[00:34:29] Which I like because I think the one in world is like a certain amount of songs but I feel like California has more I may be wrong. And you think it's one song but like it changes every time that you ride it's less than what song you get.
[00:34:46] Gotcha, gotcha. And sometimes it's a earth wind and but wait, earth wind and fire that I can't remember the song name. I think September right. September. Yeah, okay. I couldn't think of the song name for sorry I was like what? I know.
[00:35:05] I knew who it was by gotta give me credit for that. That's right. I wouldn't have known that so we pieced it together. You people that are listening have to give me credit for that because I'm surprised I even knew that. That was amazing.
[00:35:24] I got extra points for that. But yeah, didn't know the song title but I knew who it was. Like thinking about that too like I don't understand how that happened like I don't get it. That makes no sense to me at all. I know I know it. Yeah.
[00:35:55] Yeah. And then changing a little bit too Halloween Halloween weekend. That's a scary you get. Oh, okay. Okay. Thank you. You guys got like family friendly fun. Yeah. And we get like spooky scary. I want that. You gotta come to California.
[00:36:30] I love the headless horseman but I want that stuff. I want the more scary stuff. Oh, the music itself is so spooky like so creepy in the forest that they have you go through. Oh, it's oh my gosh, it's so creepy.
[00:36:49] I've seen videos of that too and I'm like, why don't we get forest stuff? I want scary forest stuff. Yeah, they should switch it up for one year just have it switch. I'm sure there's a forest somewhere over there. I want to wear my right.
[00:37:08] There's a forest somewhere. I got one just put in there. Like there's a forest over there Disney they can do anything. I don't know where but somewhere put it there. There are bears that are in there and it's probably dangerous but who cares. Oh, right.
[00:37:27] Oh gosh the bear in the park. So funny. Did you hear about that? Did you see the bit of the videos of that bear? Oh, I saw too many edits to. Oh my God. And I can't believe it went in front of. In country bear.
[00:37:46] Like in front of walked path either walk past country bear to Jabari or stood right by it or something. Oh, it knew what it was doing. It knew what it was doing. It heard that that that place was being remodeled and like changed and it was protesting.
[00:38:03] It was like, but yeah, it was either protesting or publicity stunt like one of the two because like how did it know, you know? The edits were so, so funny. Oh my God. I could not get over that. It was so funny.
[00:38:21] At least you guys get bears we get the opposite. We just get people on. We have people on small world but we won't talk about that. You should watch. I will send you one of my videos. We literally talked about that one like, um, her name is Ashley.
[00:38:40] She worked as PR. And she was telling me about, about like that and how someone stripped on small world. And I'm like, what? And I watched the video after the podcast and I'm like, Oh my God, that happened. That's it. I'm shocked.
[00:39:10] I honestly like, for me, like, I mean, you're on tiktok too. Like we see stuff all day that's fake. So I'm like, Oh, it's like it's fake. Like they're joking, you know? No, I looked it up on YouTube and there's a fucking article. There's like a news article.
[00:39:24] That talk about, I'm like, Oh wait. I'm like, Oh this shit made the news. It's like this is real. Even like the people that walked on to the set, because they had to go to the bathroom, that made the news. I'm like, that I can see.
[00:39:42] I never saw the naked thing coming. At least they had clothes on. Yeah. I didn't, I expected the people to walk on where the animatronics were. Like I expected that for some reason. I don't know why I expected that.
[00:39:57] No, it's not too much of a shock, you know? People try things, you know? But yeah, I wasn't seeing the naked thing coming. I wasn't seeing the stripping guy coming. You're lucky to have bears. I'm lucky for the bears. You are lucky for the bears.
[00:40:18] I root for bears. I don't root for naked people. That's right. Bears bring good PR. Except for, except for we also get people that climb the Disney castle. I don't think that would, no. I don't think that, I think they think they're in Disneyland maybe,
[00:40:37] because in Disneyland you can go in the castle. So maybe they're just a little lost, you know? This person actually climbed the wall of the Disney castle and got up on where the, where people were like the pyro is. Yeah.
[00:40:57] I'm, like, I wouldn't do that as a person. Yeah. Look it up after this podcast and you got, I have to. It's real. It's real. Oh my gosh. And you know the temple in Mexico that has like those stairs. It's like where you go in to the pre-cabieros.
[00:41:23] Yes, absolutely. Someone climbed that. Oh, I, oh. And I'm like, these people are crazy. That's not the actual temple that you can walk on. You don't, you can do that. I wonder if anyone stood there and was like, you can't go there. Oh, they got banned.
[00:41:43] I feel, I think. Oh, absolutely. That's the lifetime ban right there. Yeah. I'm like, no, this is, this is Epcot sir. This is not, this is not the time to walk on. This is not actually that temple. You were in a theme park, sir.
[00:41:58] You were in a theme park, sir. And again, to the, to the person that strip naked, you were in a theme park ride. Sir, sir. To everyone that has done weird things at Disney World at the parks. And I'm like, oh, I'm going to go to the park.
[00:42:21] You are in a theme park, sirs or mams. Calm yourself down and act. Calm down here. I love it. Oh my gosh. Like. Take a damn Jim. Chill pill and just act accordingly. Take a little bit of one.
[00:42:43] Just a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit. Just a notch.
[00:42:54] I feel like that it's, it's I feel like that Ross. If you've seen friends, you see you, you, you know, I'm talking about like that. That was, I was. Yeah. Hello. Perfect. So. Oh my gosh. So speaking of that.
[00:43:21] Time for my final segment of I wanted to ask, were there any like mishaps? Like not to that extreme, but like, were there any mishaps? Like funny stuff. In like the theater or in like the Disney animation. Oh, just do you can talk about who many to count.
[00:43:48] Theater, theater. Of course there was this one point where I was doing a tap dance. I was a senior, I think at this point. And I'm, I'm like a pretty big dancer, right? Like that's my strong suit.
[00:44:05] I'm like kind of known for that there, like that I was, that was like my first and then, you know, and then singing and acting. And I am in right in the middle of a trio and I just fall flat on the ground.
[00:44:22] He'll taps everything and my friend was in the wing and just is busting out laughing. I get, I get right back up. I do the thing, but that would be most embarrassing moment for me. And then when it comes to the studio,
[00:44:38] the only like crazy times we had a, you know, D23, right? Yeah. We had D23. Oh, sorry, my dog. No, you're fine. I have toxins. So. One second. Okay. So we had a D23 and they would come on the lot and have events.
[00:45:09] So they would see a movie in the theater and then they would come to us. And one of the funniest moments, my, my good dear friend was standing there and I was supposed to be back of the line just kind of, you know, guiding everyone through where
[00:45:26] to go and what to do and what we offered. And there was a lady. And she had like multiple lightsabers and cause there was a deal on them that day, something like that. And she, like, I don't know if you've ever been to a D23
[00:45:47] event, but they can get a little rowdy. I'm telling you, they can go a little crazy. So she knocks right in my friend who's working with me knocks right into my friend and there are lightsabers everywhere, everywhere. My friends on the ground and I'm like, oh my gosh.
[00:46:07] And that was probably the most chaotic moment. Everything else was just so smooth. But yeah, lightsabers, I will never be able to count how many I picked up. Yeah. Yeah. And what I love the most, I will, I'll give you this is
[00:46:27] when people come in because, you know, you have like these main talents, they come into the Disney store and it just all melts away. And you see these people that are like, thank you. Like, oh my gosh, you know, and so it's just so funny to
[00:46:47] be able to witness such like big people to you, like just completely melt for Disney. Just like you do. So yeah. Yeah. I've definitely, I still, I still love the Disney the same, but I will say there's been some things that
[00:47:08] I'm kind of iffy about with Disney because just the way things have been, they've been handling some stuff and I'm like, oh. Yeah. We're all, I think we're all having a little bit of a rough time. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:47:25] Um, well listen, thank you for coming on and thank you for being so open to being my podcast. Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me. This was such a fun opportunity. I love it. Oh, well, that's it guys.
[00:47:43] Please make sure to like and subscribe and comment and follow mcHoffman on Instagram and and TikTok and and all the things. So that's it guys. Have a good day. Good day. Bye guys. And welcome to today's episode of the part of your world,
[00:48:09] a part of your body world podcast today. We are here with mcHoffman. Okay, Mary Kate Hoffman to talk about her time in theater and at Disney. So let's welcome her in. Hi. Hi. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Good.
[00:48:53] Well, thank you for agreeing to be interviewed by me. Absolutely. I'm so happy to be part of it. So I just kind of wanted to talk to you about because when we were talking, you said that you grew up doing theater. Absolutely.
[00:49:13] And you were also part of the Disney studios. Yes. So how about we first talk about what is you did in theater first? Sure. So in theater, I worked with a local theater company in Virginia. A few greats have come out of there including Grant Kasten.
[00:49:37] It's just such a good community to grow up with. We did a lot of Disney shows. So I did Mulan, Aladdin. But we also went over and did Hello Dolly and just an array of musicals. And it was so nice.
[00:49:54] I really got to feel what it would feel like to be in New York without being in New York yet. It really developed me. And then speaking of New York then, have you been to New York then? I have. Yes, absolutely.
[00:50:11] So I have trained in New York with a few people including some foster. I absolutely love New York but right now I'm based in Los Angeles. I had to turn that off because I forgot to turn that on before you started. I love it. No, thank you. Yeah.
[00:50:32] You said that you work with some foster? Yes, absolutely. Oh my goodness. So now that you said that I got to know, what was that like? Sure. Oh my gosh. She is so, so kind and she helped me. We did, I believe it was vocal lessons only.
[00:50:51] We didn't do any of like dance or anything but oh my gosh, she's so helpful. She is so knowledgeable. And the technique that I learned just from her, oh my gosh, I was just so grateful. That is just like so cool because I mean, I love,
[00:51:16] I love some foster. I love her. For sure. She's amazing. I wanted to see her so bad and like everything but I never get chance to have never been to New York. I want to go to New York so bad. I'm going next year. Going next year.
[00:51:30] Oh my gosh. Yeah. That's awesome. Oh, you have to get some juniors while you're there. Yeah. The best. Oh, oh, my sister's father-in-law made that cheesecake and now I want the real thing. I need the real thing. No way. I need the real thing. Oh my gosh.
[00:51:50] It is so good. I am obsessed. You cannot leave New York without having it. So you definitely have to get it. Like and my cousin lives in Brooklyn and she lives like right by that place. So. That's awesome. Yeah. Perfect. Oh my gosh. Yes.
[00:52:08] Look forward to it because it is the best and it's right by Broadway too. So like you're going to see, if you go to see shows then you can just get it on the way or if you're going to go visit, then I would definitely. Oh my gosh.
[00:52:20] It's just, it's the best. I miss it all the time. I miss it all the time. I miss it all the time. I miss it all the time. I miss it all the time. So then. Who else did. Did you work with the mother and son?
[00:52:39] Yeah, so I've worked with quite a few people. I can't think off the top of my head, but I went to several camps. There's a camp called destination Broadway. They are amazing. I highly recommend them. They're all professionals themselves. So one girl, she was Glinda and wicked.
[00:52:55] They'll have people from Aladdin. The musical come this year. The location is Orlando, but still the same amount of talent. And they I highly recommend them all the time because that's how I got to work with Michael Rafter. He is.
[00:53:13] You would probably know him for like Jersey boys, Shrek and a few others. So I'm going to go ahead and talk about the location. I'm going to go ahead and talk about the location. I'm going to talk about the location. Like Jersey boys, Shrek and a few others.
[00:53:28] He's incredible. And that was how I got to work with him. J Johnson was another one that I really loved. We did a dance intensive together. And oh my gosh, I'm I was a dancer first before anything. So dance is always like my first interest.
[00:53:45] And then everything just kind of came along. Yeah. I still can't. I'm came and get it still came and get over the fact that you met like famous Broadway stars. Absolutely. Like, it's just wild. It's wild. I mean, I've met some too. Like I'm friends with actually some.
[00:54:07] So new tool friends through new tool friends. I love it. Yeah. So oh my gosh, they're just they're so knowledgeable about the craft that it's like any like slight information from them is just so helpful. Like yeah, because I usher at my local theater.
[00:54:30] So I can very cool. I could see those a lot of those first for free. I saw deck of little pill recently. Oh, that's a good one. Oh, I see your poster. Yeah. That's awesome. And I'm friends with Sean Allen Krill who played Steve Healy in the
[00:54:50] Broadway production. I'm friends with him because very cool because our theater director is friends with him and I'm friends with her. So that's how that kind of worked out. Oh my gosh. Yeah. I love it. Oh my gosh, I love that.
[00:55:04] And then sometimes sometimes indeed like it's sometimes with some of my theater friends. I just ended up being friends with them because I comment on something on their Instagram and then I post. My stories and they talk to me and then we end up being friends
[00:55:19] and I'm like, how does this happen? It's amazing. Isn't it? Yeah. It's just one step, you know, one step closer each time. Yeah. Yeah. It's so wild. I love it. So then I need to also lead into the Disney side of the Broadway. Sure.
[00:55:45] You said you worked on Beauty and the Beast, Mulan. Yes. And then I was kind of telling others. So why don't you tell me about that and how that was? Oh my gosh. I love Disney shows just because you get to really experience like all sides of things.
[00:56:01] So when you do like for me and when I did Disney shows I would get information like on the costumes on the way they trained. I choreographed for the Little Mermaid and that was so interesting because you know they have to be on like
[00:56:19] rolling movie the entire time. The Heelys? Yeah, the Heelys. Yeah, absolutely. And the training for that is just so interesting itself. So even though I love like singing, acting and dancing, I also love to learn like that side of it.
[00:56:37] It's totally separate but it's just, it's so interesting. And Disney really like they're very, very specific about their shows and that's what I love. So yeah. Yeah, my friend, my friend was like, and she's like kind of critical because she is in New York and she's in theater
[00:57:00] too. But my friend LaBelle, she was like, I didn't like the Little Mermaid because of the Heelys. I think it looked weird. It didn't look right. Like they're mermaids, they don't like, come on. They don't look, yeah. And I'm like, okay, yes, I can see that.
[00:57:18] I can kind of see that. But also what do you expect them to do? What do you expect them to do? You think I'll do something. You can't just expect them to just like fly. It's not the entire show. It's not Peter Pan. It's not Peter Pan.
[00:57:36] It's unsteadying the amount that they go through to learn all of that and to be able to sing and act and do the Heelys at the same time. It's, oh my gosh, it's incredible. And Heelys are hard too. Like you do one wrong thing.
[00:57:55] You do one wrong move and you're fly on your ass. You're done. Yeah, absolutely. Oh my gosh. I love it. Oh, it's so funny. Oh my gosh. It is. And then you work on Beauty and the Beast, you said too. Yes, yes. Oh, my favorite is the song.
[00:58:22] Oh gosh, what's it called? Sorry, I'm so bad with names, but there was one song and they actually took it out of the movie, the live action. And I was so sad because that song is absolutely incredible. Alan Mink and I love him. I think he's amazing.
[00:58:41] And his music. He took a lot of that of his songs. Like, is this home? That song's out of it. I'm like, out. It's so rough because it's like these custom made songs just for the musical are missing. And I love them. So yeah, I love Alan Mink.
[00:59:03] I love his work. I also worked on Aladdin and that was that one's incredible. Really. That was one I did a few times and I then went to see it on Broadway too. And oh my gosh, I don't know if you've seen it on Broadway. Not yet.
[00:59:22] Oh, the quick changes are for ensemble are insane. They are changing like every few minutes and they don't miss a beat. So we kind of took inspiration from the musical itself for the second time that I did it.
[00:59:41] And you really went at it with like the costume changes. And oh my gosh, like it is very rough, but it's worth it to learn something not intense. So yeah. Definitely. Well, even like stuff like Hades town Hades town. Yes. Oh my gosh.
[01:00:04] Like right movement wise that's rough. There's a bunch of dancing. There's a whole bunch of dancing. A lot of dancing. Especially during Persephone. A lot of Persephone songs are a lot of choreo. I'm like, how, how, how, how do. How do it without breaking? How do without breaking?
[01:00:34] Absolutely. And it's just, it's, it takes so much and I think that's what I love about it. It's not easy. No, no, I mean, none. No, for Rachel it's easy, but like that one particular is like, what the fuck? I think they should study that one. No, yeah.
[01:00:56] It needs to set up further study. Oh, wow. And then you have something like deer Manhattan, which is so like simple, but like also. Yes. But also very hard because of the topics. Right? Yeah.
[01:01:16] So you've got to come across the right way and they, oh, he did such a good job with that too. Yeah. And I, yeah. But the thought you're right like certain topics like. Even with like rent and just different shows it's.
[01:01:36] I think it's amazing the acting side of it, even though it's not a play, it's got to come through the right way and yeah. Yeah. And like, yeah, I know you're right. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And I'm just like, how do you do it?
[01:01:58] Well, even like that, that because that even got like some critics. And like, a lot of people were mad about how they were coming across like. Sure. And then like, like, she said something in like, people were pissed because like.
[01:02:21] They thought like they were talking that she was talking about down, about trans or whatever. I don't know how. Oh yeah. But she is hard though. Absolutely. It's hard to. I have a lot of friends that I've been with.
[01:02:37] I've been with a lot of people that I've been with. But she is hard though. Absolutely. It's hard to. I have a lot of friends who are trying to open shows right now off Broadway.
[01:02:50] And they're even like, they just you try to get it right and you can't get it right for everyone always, you know. So yeah. Because they were mad because.
[01:03:03] There was like a line in that show for Joe, a K. Lauren Patton in that for Joe and that in that production in Cambridge about specifically about trans to make people be seen and stuff, but then Broadway it was different. And people were mad about that.
[01:03:23] But it's like Broadway, Broadway and out of town try it. They are different things are there are different. Absolutely. It's not going to be the same for sure. No, it's like. I understand where they're coming from because it's like a big like. Oh, Carter. Yeah, but like still.
[01:03:49] Like it's them. It's not her. It's the right. No, it's good to it's good to see both sides for sure. You know, yeah. Yeah. But yeah, getting off of the sad stuff. I wanted to talk about your time at the Walt Disney Studios too. Yeah, absolutely.
[01:04:18] So I worked at their studio. So each studio usually has a studio store. It's specific to some while it's a little bit different. So Warner Brothers will be for the Warner Brothers tour for Disney is only for the people on the lot.
[01:04:37] So you're meeting like animators movie like people and it's it's a whirlwind. It's great. I did a lot of helping with like. Getting people ready for premieres getting things ready is like if someone needed 1000 Olaf's we would get those 1000 Olaf's and have them ready for any situation.
[01:05:02] So we worked a lot with celebrities and a lot with directors and it was it was really a great time. So wait, so correct me. Correct me here because I is Warner Brothers Warner Brothers and the Disney Studios those are two different studios to different. Yes. Yes.
[01:05:25] But very close by. Okay. So they're like not working like together kind of they're just kind of like don't different. So they're on different lots but sometimes they will merge if they're using like the other person's, you know, lot. But yeah, they're they're separate entities.
[01:05:45] Same with like DreamWorks Sony Universal they're all just different. So yeah. Okay. Okay because I always wondered that because I seen like a bunch of Disney movies. Sure. Have the Warner Brothers logo so I'm like, okay.
[01:06:04] Yeah, yeah. So sometimes they'll use like different if they need like a set or something. They do like to use each other's that's so it does happen and you'll see that logo just to give credit for that so.
[01:06:20] Okay. Okay. That's why I always wanted to add. I was curious because I never knew. It's so interesting. Honestly, the film film is amazing but yeah they they like to partner up. It's good. So then have you been been in.
[01:06:42] Wait, so where you might make it where are you are you when you're in California. So I am in California. I'm in Los Angeles. I'm right by the studios. I do a lot of film which is great. I did a Disney commercial which was so fun.
[01:06:58] And yeah, I'm just working my way up so yeah. I love the film side of it. I like doing 12 takes at a time. And can you can you mention what the Disney commercial was for or are you. I'm under NDA otherwise I would but yeah it's alright.
[01:07:19] But yeah, it's just the opportunities are absolutely incredible out there. We've I worked with universal at one point and just the film industry is so relaxed. It's so different from Broadway like even the auditions like auditions for Broadway you know you go in.
[01:07:40] Yeah, like yeah do not look at them do not speak to them like nothing. And I feel like the more I go into Los Angeles auditions even on zoom people are very relaxed and very calm and very like do you want to go surfing after this.
[01:07:57] So it's just a completely different atmosphere. Yeah. Yep that was my next question was like how different is it from like from when you did theater to your.
[01:08:10] Jordan yeah absolutely and it leaves room I guess it leaves room for mistake not too much but you do get another take instead of a dock and pay so.
[01:08:24] Yeah, like yeah I love it you people complain you know they're like this is like my 20th take but for me I like live off of that.
[01:08:35] Yeah, I mean because I feel like that's nicer because you have more opportunities to make the mistakes and then you know getting to go back and make that and correct that mistake as many as many times as you need to. Absolutely.
[01:08:54] Where as in theater, you make a mistake that's it. You're out there you're on stage already. Yeah, yeah. I tried to learn how to do film acting once. Uh huh. It did not go well. No. I thought totally different.
[01:09:13] I thought you know, oh film acting would be will be easier. Yeah. I can start to do lessons. I did one lesson. I quit. I'm like I can't do it anymore like I can't it's hard. It is it's a lot of work. Sorry.
[01:09:35] No it's completely different you're fine it's like. She kept having me do the lesson over and over like the same line over and over in different ways I'm like. I can't. I can't figure it yeah.
[01:09:53] Oh my god and like I'm reading it but you can tell that I'm reading it and not like actually saying like. Yes that's the biggest thing especially when when doing like self tapes it is so like my brother Charlie he's an actor too.
[01:10:10] He keeps me in check because of you like you're reading like you're reading because when no one's there and when like the camera is not really there it's just your phone or it's like a setup.
[01:10:21] Yeah, it you're just you have to stay on it and it is it's a little rough. It's just like you know what I'm gonna not do anymore because I'm not going to. Dream to be an actor but it's like hard and like.
[01:10:40] Well keep practicing keep doing you because you've got this you know yeah. I really don't think I do. You're sweet and thank you but I don't think I do. It's the it's the 12th take you're like no I'm done I'm done.
[01:11:01] So like I might just start to try to do learn about theater acting and try to do that because I feel like that's a much easier beast to tackle. Yeah no go for it absolutely all the way. Yes.
[01:11:16] I know the wheelchair but like but Ali Stroker is in a wheelchair and she's on Broadway. She's living it up on that way.
[01:11:27] That's right exactly I wouldn't let anything hold you back from what you want to do because honestly no matter what if you put your mind to it you can do it absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:11:44] So I asked a little bit about your Broadway history and then also the Disney. Of it but. I'm not sure like the you also said that you worked at the Disney stores. Correct. Yes. Yes.
[01:12:08] What was that how's that different from like everything I like the working on the studios. Yeah. Yeah. So so basically it was more just caring to the atmosphere around me so anything could happen honestly like even though we were a Disney store we still
[01:12:31] We had daily things daily requests that you'd be like oh my gosh how are we going to do that but we get it we would get it done miraculously.
[01:12:41] Another thing is like we gave this atmosphere where people could feel comfortable to have and I kid you not they would have meetings right in the store.
[01:12:54] And it was just such a safe environment for them that it just felt comfortable and that also helped with the animators and and especially the editors because I when you're editing for you know eight hours at a time.
[01:13:11] They get tired and so they come in and that would be like their chill time for them and we make sure of it and really was just it was amazing it was a different thing every day we had different people every day that was amazing I love meeting
[01:13:28] people that are really in the business and and even people that like I'm like you created my childhood like that is amazing. Oh yeah it's just it was such a cool experience. Have you been to the Walt Disney family museum yet.
[01:13:50] I have not yet visited I've seen pictures and I follow the Instagram and everything but I just haven't been over that way. Okay, because I've seen I follow their Instagram and if it's all there I think they have a tick tock. Yeah yeah.
[01:14:07] And I follow that I follow both of those accounts religiously because I'm like I need that to see that and.
[01:14:18] But it's so cool. Yeah, but cool. Yeah. Oh if you're ever in Burbank it is just so historic to Walt Disney he you can see him everywhere from like from the studio to the restaurant down the street you're going to see where he had a part in that town so it's really neat.
[01:14:43] And that's like another reason why I want to visit California too because I there are places historic places they're where Walt Disney was. I believe there is a if I'm if I correct there's a place where you can visit his actual office. Absolutely. Yeah, it's really neat.
[01:15:10] You can sit in the desk but you know you can look at it. You can look at it. Oh my god, maybe you could sit in that desk though like please right I want to take a picture sitting on his chair. You're leaning.
[01:15:32] Forever your profile picture seriously though seriously though I would die. I mean what a great man so seriously. Because I have and this is like a little sneak peek of next week's episode.
[01:15:51] I interviewed someone who who created this documentary called beyond the glass the Walt Disney World the WDW animation building. Yes, yes. And I don't know you've seen that on TikTok I feel right. Yeah, I've seen stuff about it absolutely.
[01:16:17] Yep, I interviewed the creator of that the one interviewed. Wow. Oh my gosh. I can't wait to watch. So that's coming out next week. And I'm excited. I didn't know about any of anything about the Walt Disney World animation building.
[01:16:39] Really really cool. Yeah, absolutely and you can even see like the remaining of it and it's crazy but yeah I would love if they started stuff in Florida again but you know you never know how to laugh.
[01:16:55] Because I remember they had like a thing was that it was that building where like, what was that a different building in Walt Disney World where like you can go in and learn how to draw.
[01:17:09] Yes, that was one of that was one of the buildings to that was like the animation experience. Oh, what's it called for real. But I love doing that as a kid. Oh my gosh.
[01:17:22] I know and they have one that I was really sad that they got rid of it. Me too. It was like favorite. So I think they still if I'm right they still have it in California venture.
[01:17:36] So I went immediately when I think I went like a few years ago now but I went and I was like oh I want to experience this again. Yeah, yeah it's so crazy.
[01:17:49] Because apparently in Florida we can't have nice things California has to be nice things so we can't get all the nice things. Maybe soon maybe soon right.
[01:18:01] Even like, I don't know if you seen on TikTok to the Tokyo Disney Sea got that frozen and more tangled ride and I'm like how do they do the Cape. How do they have you seen that. Yes, I've seen both of those. How do you do the Cape.
[01:18:20] I need to know how they did it. And the tangled one the tangled one. Oh, I would cry. I would literally cry. They did the lantern scene and everything and like they did every single thing. First of all, why do you see like what like okay.
[01:18:38] I told I texted my friend that send me sent me this and I'm like, why can't we have nice things. That's exactly what I said my friend. Like why don't we get that. Oh my gosh, like, why can't we have nice pretty things we can have pretty things.
[01:19:00] You do have the guardians right though so I'm giving that guardians right is amazing. I mean, I mean, it's not but okay. It's not it's not but okay. My my favorite my favorite is the the one in Disney California venture.
[01:19:23] It's like the Tower of Terror but they replaced it and just the energy that you get it's not even the ride.
[01:19:31] Yeah, it's just the energy of like that music Chris Pratt and that the how like, oh my gosh, the crowd is amazing every time so that's one of my favorites for sure. I've never seen I will let you know a little secret.
[01:19:47] I have never seen a single garden. I've never seen a single one. Okay, you have to just at least if anything if you watch anything watch the first one.
[01:20:00] Okay, James Gunn is well, you know, I'm I'm a James Gunn Scooby-Doo fan and so I went immediately to watch Guardians, you know it the colors and Chris Pratt and
[01:20:18] I'm biased but just the movie the music the colors everything together it is so good and I watch like POVs of people like riding the guard going to the galaxy ride at Disney World. I'm like, I don't get it. I don't get the story.
[01:20:36] Like you don't get the story yet. Oh yeah, I think you do have to watch it for that one. I don't understand this does not compute. I don't I don't understand what is going on.
[01:20:49] Yeah, it's a watch it you'll love that ride a little bit more I think like in my brain as I'm watching those POVs it's just like that that swirling like little thing that that computers give me freezes just like that. Yes, loading. Like, uh, Meena understand. Meena understand.
[01:21:13] Yes, I can see where that would come in. Absolutely. Oh my God. What what what you said about the gout gardens the galaxy replacing the tower of terror in California. Why did they do that? I don't understand that.
[01:21:32] So it's very, very much like something that some people are like no, I want a tower of terror. I am different. I love that they did it just because I love the the queue itself. The queue is amazing. You have to watch like, honestly, it's not just guardians.
[01:21:58] It's like Marvel movies in general. And there's just all these like Easter eggs throughout the queue and it's so good.
[01:22:09] And then they each time that you ride it's kind of like tower of terror each time you ride it's like a different drop, but it's different like soundtracks every time and they continue to add soundtracks to it so it's like really really randomized.
[01:22:24] Oh, which I like because I think the one in world is like a certain amount of songs but I feel like California has more I may be wrong. And you think it's one song but like it changes every time that you ride it's and what song you get.
[01:22:41] Gotcha. And sometimes it's a earth wind and but wait, it's when in fire that I can't remember the name. I think September right. September. Yeah, okay. I couldn't think of the song name for sorry I was like what?
[01:23:00] I knew who it was by gotta give me credit for that. That's right I wouldn't have known that so we pieced it together. You people that are listening have to give me credit for that because I'm surprised I even knew that. That was amazing.
[01:23:19] You got extra points for that. But yet didn't know the song title but I knew it was out. No. And like thinking about that too like I don't understand how that happened like I don't get it. That makes no sense to me at all.
[01:23:41] I know I know it. Yeah. But yeah, and then changing a little bit too Halloween Halloween weekend. That's a scary you get. Oh, okay boogie back boogie back thank you. Yeah, I even think about it. You guys got like family friendly fun.
[01:24:11] Yeah, and we get like spooky scary. Which I want that. We gotta come to California. I love the headless horseman but I want that stuff. I want the more scary stuff. I want the more scary stuff. I want the more scary stuff.
[01:24:39] Oh, the music itself is so spooky like so creepy in the forest that they have you go through. Oh, it's oh my gosh it's so creepy. I've seen videos of that too and I'm like why don't we get forest stuff. I want scary forest stuff.
[01:24:55] Yeah, they should switch it up for one year just have it switch. I don't know where but. There's a forest somewhere in the. I got one just put it in there. There's a forest somewhere in the Disney they can do anything.
[01:25:13] There's a forest somewhere in the kingdom I don't know where but somewhere. Put it there. There are bears that in there and it's probably dangerous but who cares. Oh right. Oh, my gosh. Did you hear about that? Did you see the videos of that bear?
[01:25:35] I saw too many edits too. Oh my God. And I cannot believe it went in front of. In country. In front of it. Walked past country bearage library or stood right by it. I don't know where it went. It was so funny. It was so funny.
[01:26:01] It heard that that that place was being remodeled and like changed and it was protesting. It was either protesting or publicity stunt like one of the two. Cause like how did it know, you know? The edits were so so funny. Oh my God. We just get people on.
[01:26:23] We have people on small world but we won't talk about that. You should watch. I will send you one of my videos. We literally talked about that one like, um, her name is Ashley. She worked as PR. And she was telling me about like that
[01:26:43] and how someone stripped on small world. And I'm like, what? And I watched the video after the podcast and I'm like. Oh my God. That happened. Honestly, like for me, like, I mean, you're on tiktok too. Like we see stuff all day that's fake.
[01:27:06] So I'm like, oh, it's like it's fake. Like they're joking, you know, I looked it up on YouTube and there's a fucking article. There's like a news article that talk about the news. That talk about, I'm like, oh, wait, don't. I'm like, oh, this shit made the news.
[01:27:23] Like this is real. Even like the people that walked on to the set because they had to go to the bathroom, that made the news. I'm like, that I can see. I never saw the naked thing coming. At least they had clothes on. Yeah.
[01:27:45] I mean, I did the people to walk on where the animatronics were. Like I expected that for some reason. I don't know why I expected that. No, it's not too much of a shock, you know, people try things. Yeah. I wasn't seeing the naked thing coming.
[01:28:01] I wasn't seeing this stripping guy coming. You're lucky to have bears. But I'm lucky for the bears. You are lucky for the bears. I'm not the one that's in the group. You know, I'm not in the group for bears. I don't root for naked people. That's right.
[01:28:24] Bears bring good PR. Except for we also get people that climb the Disney castle. Oh. I don't think that one. No. I don't think that I think they think they're in Disneyland maybe because in Disneyland you can go in the castle. So maybe they're just a little lost.
[01:28:43] the wall of the Disney cast. No, and got up on where the where people were like the the Pyro is. Yeah. I'm I like I wouldn't do that as a person. I look it up after this podcast. And yeah, I have to it's real.
[01:29:01] It's real. Oh my gosh. And you know the temple in Mexico that has like those state it's like where you go in to the three caberos. Yes, absolutely. Someone climbed that. Someone climbed that. Oh, I oh. And I'm like these people are crazy.
[01:29:30] That's not the actual temple that you can you can walk on. You don't you can do that. I wonder if anyone said there was like you can't go there. Oh, they got banned. I feel I think. Oh, absolutely. That's the lifetime band right there. Yeah, I'm like no.
[01:29:49] This is this is F cop sir. This is not this is not that bad temple. This is not actual actually that temple. It's not a theme park sir. You were in a theme park sir. And again to the to the person that strip naked
[01:30:09] you were in a theme park ride sir. Sir sir. To everyone that has done weird things at Disney World at the parks Disneyland or Disney World, you are in a theme park serves or man's. Calm yourself down and act. Well, I'm not here. I love it.
[01:30:34] Oh my gosh. Like. Take a damn chill pill and just act accordingly. I'll take a little bit of one just a little. Just a notch. I feel like that it's it. I feel like that Ross if you've seen friends you see you you know I'm not like that.
[01:30:58] That was. Yeah. Hello. Perfect. Oh my gosh. So. Oh my gosh. So speaking of that. It's time for my final segment of I wanted to ask were there any like mishaps like not to that extreme but like were there any mishaps? Like funny stuff.
[01:31:33] In like the theater or in like the Disney animation like the suit. You can talk about who many to count. Theater theater of course there was this one point where I was doing a tap dance. I was a senior I think at this point and I'm I'm like
[01:31:57] a pretty big dancer right like that's my strong suit. I'm like kind of known for that there like that I was that was like my first and then you know and then singing and acting and I am in right in the middle of a trio
[01:32:12] and I just fall flat on the ground. He'll taps everything and my friend was in the wing and just is busting out laughing. I get I get right back up. I do the thing but that would be most embarrassing moment for me.
[01:32:31] And then when it comes to the studio only like crazy times we had a you know D23 right? Yeah. We had D23. Oh sorry my dog. No you're fine. I have toxins. So. One second. Okay so we had D23 and they would come on the lot and have
[01:33:04] events so they would see a movie in the theater and then they would come to us and one of the funniest moments my my good dear friend was standing there and I was supposed to be back of the line just kind of you know guiding
[01:33:20] everyone through where to go and what to do and what we offered and there was a lady and she had like multiple lightsabers and because there was a deal on them that day something like that and she like I don't know if you've ever
[01:33:42] been to a D23 event but they can get a little rowdy. I'm telling you they can do a little crazy so she knocks right my friend who's working with me knocks right into my friend and there are lightsabers everywhere everywhere
[01:34:00] my friends on the ground and I'm like oh my gosh and that was probably the most chaotic moment everything else was just so smooth but yeah lightsabers I will never be able to count how many I picked up. Yeah.
[01:34:18] Yeah and what I love the most I will I'll give you this is when people come in because you know you have like these main talents. They come into the Disney store and it just all melts away
[01:34:35] and you see these people that are like makey like oh my gosh you know and so it's just so funny to be able to witness such like big people to you like just completely melt for Disney just like you do so yeah yeah.
[01:34:55] I've definitely I still I still love the Disney the same but I will say there's been some things that I'm kind of if you about with Disney because just the way things have been they've been handling some stuff and I'm like oh yeah
[01:35:14] we're all I think we're all having a little bit of a rough time. Yeah for sure yeah yeah. Well listen thank you for coming on and thank you for being so open to being my podcast. Absolutely thank you so much for having me this was such a fun
[01:35:32] opportunity I love it. Well that's it guys please make sure to like and subscribe and comment and follow and the MC Hoffman on Instagram and and a TikTok and all the things. So that's it guys have a good day bye guys. Thank you.
