[00:00:00] This podcast is brought to you by the spur of the moment podcast and by Boger cabinetry.
[00:00:17] Excuse me.
[00:00:48] Episode of the party Broadway Broadway world podcast and it is the first episode of the new year.
[00:00:57] Sure. So today we're going to talk with Tony from today we're going to talk about with Tony from the Disney from an artist podcast.
[00:01:13] And so we're gonna just let's just invite him in. Hello. Hello. How are you? I am good. How are you? Good. Good.
[00:01:23] And where are you from Haley? I am from Michigan. Oh, God, it's cold up there. It's it is. It's snowing too. So, hey, you have to move to Florida.
[00:01:35] It's a 77 today. Oh, that sounds really nice. It's nice and warm.
[00:01:43] So I first of all, thank you for agreeing to come on the podcast. Yeah, love to.
[00:01:51] As you can see, I have like all my Disney 3D puzzles. So I'm a very big fan of Disney and probably like well, like right.
[00:02:03] Yeah. Yeah. You can't see I have two bookcases filled with Toy Story collectibles over here. Oh, that's cool.
[00:02:10] Yeah, they're off to my side. And sadly, I just recently sold the rest of my pin collection off.
[00:02:15] They were just sitting in boxes and I they weren't out on display.
[00:02:19] So I just sold it all to one guy. I said, here, take them. Go make other people happy with them now.
[00:02:25] So. Well, it's sad, but yeah, I mean, at least it's gonna make other people happy.
[00:02:30] I can't take it with me. Right.
[00:02:34] And my kids are like, hey, when you die, make sure you have price tags on everything.
[00:02:37] So we know what to sell it for. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
[00:02:43] So.
[00:02:44] So I.
[00:02:47] So again, thank you for agreeing to come on.
[00:02:50] I watch your podcast for.
[00:02:54] Let's say like two, three months now.
[00:02:56] Oh, OK. Yeah.
[00:02:58] Mm hmm.
[00:02:59] And I love what you do. I love what you do.
[00:03:02] Thank you. Thank you.
[00:03:04] We've been doing it a long. Well, I.
[00:03:05] Well, I've been doing it for over 12 years and then I've had a lot of people come and go.
[00:03:10] So.
[00:03:11] It's my little passion project and.
[00:03:14] I just keep the little engine running.
[00:03:18] And the name of the name of your pocket is Disney Parks podcast, correct?
[00:03:23] Correct. Yeah.
[00:03:24] We stole that right after they made the blog.
[00:03:27] Oh, I did.
[00:03:30] They started Disney Parks blog and I said, oh, podcast right at the end of that.
[00:03:33] That's perfect. Let's go.
[00:03:36] I didn't even put that together until you said something.
[00:03:39] Oh, my gosh.
[00:03:41] I've been waiting for 12 years to for them to steal it from me and say like, no, you can't have it.
[00:03:46] I didn't have that. That's ours, but they haven't done it.
[00:03:48] So I keep going.
[00:03:50] Yeah.
[00:03:51] Yeah.
[00:03:53] Until the day that that they probably do.
[00:03:55] And then you're.
[00:03:56] I'll get a letter from some lawyer and saying, hey, that's not right.
[00:04:01] I'll say, all right, well, you can pay me for it.
[00:04:06] I'll take a little money in this hand.
[00:04:10] Oh, it's so funny.
[00:04:12] So I wanted to bring you on because over the past really a couple of months, really, there's been so much Disney news and Disney Parks and everything.
[00:04:25] Right.
[00:04:25] With closures and then with like new things coming and.
[00:04:30] Yeah.
[00:04:32] I wanted to pick your brain about.
[00:04:35] Yeah.
[00:04:37] Some stuff.
[00:04:38] Yeah.
[00:04:39] I wanted to first talk about the big thing that's happened recently where they have just announced where Monsters in Clan is going to go.
[00:04:50] Oh, yeah.
[00:04:52] And a lot of people are angry.
[00:04:55] They're literally dropping the monsters.
[00:04:59] On the Muppets.
[00:05:02] And crushing them.
[00:05:03] So.
[00:05:04] Yeah, that's a that's a pretty interesting one.
[00:05:07] I.
[00:05:08] You know, we had a lot of speculation on where that was going to go, like where were where are they going to put that attraction?
[00:05:14] You know, my thought was, you know, somewhere attached to Toy Story Land, you know, so that you're going to go from Andy's room to the monster world somewhere through there.
[00:05:25] You know, like the end of, you know, Pixar place, you know, kind of where Edna used to be in that area.
[00:05:32] That was option one.
[00:05:33] The other option I thought would have been the animation courtyard could have rethemed it gotten rid of launch bay, which is seems out of place now.
[00:05:43] Why is Star Wars here, here and here?
[00:05:45] Right. You have launch bay, you have Star Tours, and then you have the land.
[00:05:49] Mm hmm.
[00:05:50] Just get rid of launch bay.
[00:05:52] It's useless.
[00:05:52] It's meet and greet, but the meet and greet in the themed land and and the kids activity thing.
[00:05:59] You know, the little play area kind of the show didn't seem like that still fit in that area either.
[00:06:05] So that would have been another great place to drop it.
[00:06:08] But I think they want what they're going to do is Muppets going to obviously go away.
[00:06:15] The restaurant will probably be rethemed to some kind of now they have two restaurants.
[00:06:20] They have Pizza Rizzo and Mama Melrose and the attraction is going on top of Mama Melrose.
[00:06:26] Yeah. And I heard that one of the restaurants is going to be Harryhausen's.
[00:06:31] Right, right.
[00:06:32] Yeah.
[00:06:32] So I think both of those things have to get replaced.
[00:06:37] You have to replace the restaurant and the quick service.
[00:06:40] You can't just replace one because that park has the least amount of sit down restaurants than any other park.
[00:06:48] You know, there's only Hollywood and Vine 50 prime time and Brown Derby and then the rest of quick service.
[00:06:57] Right.
[00:06:57] And then most of the quick service is outside.
[00:07:01] Toy Story quick services uncovered on air conditioned down Sunset Boulevard.
[00:07:06] All those are uncovered on air condition.
[00:07:10] The one by Star Tours is inside ABC Commissary is inside and the terrible sci fi restaurant, which terrible food still exists, which probably could be rethemed.
[00:07:21] Get a new menu, get new food because it's old and dated.
[00:07:26] So they chose the Muppet Courtyard to, you know, make monsters their home.
[00:07:34] I was hoping that they would redo Rock and Roll Coaster with Queen.
[00:07:39] I thought that would be a great band.
[00:07:41] They've been around a long time.
[00:07:44] But we're going to see what they're going to do with the Muppets and see how they can, you know, fit the Muppets into, you know, a high speed thrill coaster.
[00:07:54] So there's a lot of work to be done.
[00:07:56] And that also will bump right up against the star.
[00:08:01] Well, they failed Star Wars Hotel, and it will, I think, go over the cast member entrance.
[00:08:11] So they may have to move their, their entrance into their parking lot, because I think from the picture I saw, it's going to exceed the land and it's going to cross over that road.
[00:08:26] So they may have to push the road out to get into their parking lot.
[00:08:30] So that was an interesting one.
[00:08:34] Yeah, that was all going to fit.
[00:08:35] And we really don't know all the details, right?
[00:08:38] They just sent us an image.
[00:08:39] And then everybody goes and looks at the Google Maps and or Google Earth.
[00:08:44] See, all right, it's going to be here, here.
[00:08:45] They dropped this over here.
[00:08:47] So we don't know until, you know, construction actually begins.
[00:08:52] And, you know, walls go up.
[00:08:53] Once the walls go up, then we have a better idea of what's going to happen.
[00:08:57] You know, and well, let's see.
[00:09:00] This winter will be destination day down here in Florida.
[00:09:05] So maybe we'll get some updates in the end of the year of what's going on there.
[00:09:11] A lot of my friends who are who used to work at the park or or are still like just Disney enthusiasts.
[00:09:21] We were all talking about it, like speculating where it was going to go.
[00:09:26] And a lot of us had guessed where it is going to go.
[00:09:29] And we were right.
[00:09:32] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:09:32] It's you know, I always try to think, you know, well, why would they put it there?
[00:09:36] And what's you know, I always look at the map and go, you know, because Disney's plan always was a stay inside, you know, the berm, the little hidden wall that they build around their parks.
[00:09:48] But they seem to be now crossing that berm and just don't care anymore.
[00:09:55] You know, Ron was on the other side of the berm, which was the railroad tracks.
[00:10:00] Villains is going to happen on the other side of the berm.
[00:10:03] So I think they like, OK, let's stop trying to fit it in the square we made and let's just figure out how to fit it anywhere.
[00:10:14] Right. Right. Right.
[00:10:16] You know, I mean, speaking of like Tron and like in everything, like I have to say, I don't love where Tron is.
[00:10:27] No, I mean, it fits in the themed area, right? It's space.
[00:10:30] It's Space Mountain. It's tomorrow ish.
[00:10:34] You know, does it? I don't really know if it does.
[00:10:37] It's futuristic. I mean, yeah.
[00:10:41] A lot, a lot more than the Speedway.
[00:10:43] Yeah, true.
[00:10:45] That's that. Yeah.
[00:10:47] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:10:49] We've had cars for quite a long time now. That's not really tomorrow anymore.
[00:10:55] It's more like the past.
[00:10:56] It's yesteryear.
[00:10:58] Now, if they were all Tesla cars, well, OK, I can wrap my head around that maybe.
[00:11:03] Tesla cars.
[00:11:05] Read them.
[00:11:07] Yeah.
[00:11:07] Well, they did in Disneyland, California.
[00:11:10] They they made them Honda cars and they're all electric.
[00:11:14] I didn't know that.
[00:11:15] Yeah. They got rid of the gas.
[00:11:17] Yeah. They're all electric cars.
[00:11:18] And I had no idea.
[00:11:20] Yeah. Yeah. So I'm just I thought they were going to turn ours into like a Wreck-It Ralph, you know, a Vanellope kind of race thing and make them electric.
[00:11:31] But they haven't gotten to that yet.
[00:11:34] Mm hmm. Yeah.
[00:11:36] Speaking of cars, I love how I love how they're they are adding cars land kind of like that ride to where Big Thunder Mountain like like near Big Thunder Mountain.
[00:11:52] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:11:54] Yeah. We're we're not we're not getting the good cars.
[00:11:57] California Adventure's got the good cars.
[00:11:59] Yeah.
[00:12:00] Yeah.
[00:12:01] That land is fantastic.
[00:12:02] Have you ever been to that?
[00:12:04] Oh, my gosh.
[00:12:05] California Adventure Cars Land is like you are walking onto the movie set.
[00:12:12] It looks exactly like that portion of the movie.
[00:12:17] Everything is where you would see it in the movie.
[00:12:21] It is like spectacular.
[00:12:23] And their their attraction is like Test Track on steroids.
[00:12:29] It is like way plus way past Test Track.
[00:12:33] I mean, it's a fantastic ride.
[00:12:36] We're getting a kind of poor kind of like a poor man's.
[00:12:41] Yeah.
[00:12:42] This is where we can fit in this space.
[00:12:44] You'll have to live with it.
[00:12:45] A poor man's Cars Land.
[00:12:48] Correct.
[00:12:48] Right.
[00:12:49] So if you go on YouTube and you search for they put out Imagineering put out a video.
[00:12:56] They created a dirt track.
[00:12:58] I don't know where I think in California created a dirt track.
[00:13:03] And ran like like dirt four wheelers on this track to see what it would feel like and look like and what the point of view from, you know, us participants would be.
[00:13:20] So they set up a track with different humps and loop they lose and turns so that they can see.
[00:13:26] All right.
[00:13:26] This is what it's going to look like when people ride this.
[00:13:29] How can we make this great?
[00:13:30] How you know now we don't know what technology they're using.
[00:13:34] They haven't said it's going to be like Test Track.
[00:13:36] It's going to be like this.
[00:13:37] We don't know, but at least they've created a track.
[00:13:41] You know, a real dirt track.
[00:13:43] So we're going to see what it, you know, so they can see what it's going to feel like and look like.
[00:13:46] So if you go watch that video, it gives you a little perspective on what they're thinking about this attraction.
[00:13:53] And hopefully the theming will be as great as California Adventure that there's, you know, that was built by John Lasseter.
[00:14:01] That was a real passion project for him.
[00:14:05] And sometimes I feel like Disney's missing that passion.
[00:14:10] I mean, I mean, John Lasseter, you know, was the Disney.
[00:14:14] What was his last title? Creative director.
[00:14:17] And he cared.
[00:14:19] He wanted the attractions to be like you were in the movie.
[00:14:24] You were feeling, you know, what it was like to be those characters in that movie.
[00:14:27] And I think now they just, you know, slap attraction together, theme it a little bit and then go, yeah, that's fine.
[00:14:34] That looks pretty good.
[00:14:36] So today's episode sponsored by this for the moment podcast.
[00:14:40] Everybody come join us every Saturday.
[00:14:42] We're going to do this.
[00:14:43] We're going to sit here.
[00:14:44] We're going to talk about the news.
[00:14:45] Time to talk about the Minecraft.
[00:14:48] Okay.
[00:14:49] It looks bad.
[00:14:50] So we're going to talk about movies.
[00:14:51] That new Joker movie is apparently terrible.
[00:14:53] And I want to see it so badly.
[00:14:55] Clay here.
[00:14:55] It's awful.
[00:14:56] We're going to make some jokes.
[00:14:57] We're going to have some laughs.
[00:14:59] There's a lot of funny jokes in there.
[00:15:00] There's a lot of weird jokes in there.
[00:15:04] The Channing Tatum one will always make me laugh.
[00:15:08] Especially when you hear the behind the scenes stuff.
[00:15:12] When you hear the behind the scenes story of how they just phoned him up.
[00:15:16] We're occasionally going to have other people along for the ride.
[00:15:19] A really fun fact though is I learned last year that Coraline was like,
[00:15:26] But not Disney.
[00:15:28] Oh, interesting.
[00:15:28] I mean, I can see why you would make that mistake.
[00:15:30] Yeah.
[00:15:31] Because it does seem like it's a different.
[00:15:33] And to be fair.
[00:15:36] That would be a horrifying, terrible Disney movie.
[00:15:40] It would be.
[00:15:41] Yeah.
[00:15:42] And we're just going to have a generally good time.
[00:15:44] Jordan, do you have anything else you want to say about our podcast?
[00:15:47] Make people watch it.
[00:15:49] We watch movies.
[00:15:50] Sometimes we watch shows.
[00:15:52] But we always have fun.
[00:15:54] Here.
[00:15:55] On the spur of the...
[00:15:56] On the spur of the...
[00:15:57] On the spur of the...
[00:15:58] A spur of the...
[00:15:58] Three...
[00:15:59] Three...
[00:16:00] Two...
[00:16:01] One.
[00:16:01] On the spur of the podcast moment.
[00:16:04] Yeah, we nailed it.
[00:16:06] Nailed it as my guest.
[00:16:08] Yeah.
[00:16:09] Yeah, yeah.
[00:16:09] On the spur of the moment podcast.
[00:16:11] Every Saturday we nailed it.
[00:16:12] You can expect awesome content like that.
[00:16:15] We cut flawless promos every single week.
[00:16:27] I don't feel...
[00:16:29] I don't feel like there's like a lot of love put into that attraction.
[00:16:34] Yeah.
[00:16:35] Into some attractions.
[00:16:36] Right.
[00:16:37] Right.
[00:16:38] When I go now, it's just like...
[00:16:40] It's things that seem slapped together.
[00:16:42] Yeah.
[00:16:43] Yeah.
[00:16:43] And you know, if you think about the last few attractions that have opened.
[00:16:48] Tron, Tiana's, Star Tours, Star Wars Resistance.
[00:16:54] You know, all of those recent attractions that have opened have had some pretty tough starts.
[00:17:02] Right?
[00:17:02] They've been down a lot.
[00:17:04] You know, they would shut down half the day.
[00:17:06] They don't only can make it to lunchtime and then the attraction would fail and then maybe it would come up by nighttime again.
[00:17:12] So, I don't feel like they're doing their due diligence in their testing and preparation to send these things live for 18 hours a day.
[00:17:22] You know?
[00:17:24] Yeah.
[00:17:25] So, Tiana just got off the virtual queue.
[00:17:28] It's now a walk-up ride.
[00:17:31] Ours has not because of its inconsistent reliability.
[00:17:35] They still have not removed it from the virtual queue because of the inconsistent reliability.
[00:17:40] So, you know, maybe a little more testing needs to be put into the plan rather than just flipping the switch and go, well, they'll test it as we go.
[00:17:50] Leave it up to the, you know, people that are paying $130 a day to come here.
[00:17:54] Yeah.
[00:17:54] To test it for us.
[00:17:56] Yeah.
[00:17:56] Thank you.
[00:17:58] Exactly.
[00:18:00] I mean, but speaking of Tiana's though, I'm not really, this might sound like mean, but like, cause I, cause I, I haven't wrote Tiana's yet.
[00:18:10] So I don't really know how it is.
[00:18:12] Right.
[00:18:12] But I, I'm not a big fan.
[00:18:15] I'm not a fan.
[00:18:16] I'm not a fan.
[00:18:18] So here's the interesting thing.
[00:18:19] So, you know, it was based on the movie, Strong and South.
[00:18:22] Now, if you were to ask any 20 year old, 30 year old, even teenager say, Hey, you know, what's the movie, the song of the South about?
[00:18:32] They would have no idea.
[00:18:33] Cause one, they've never seen it.
[00:18:35] Disney's banned it from everything in existence.
[00:18:38] Uh, so.
[00:18:41] Ripping that out, you know, it's great, but you replace him with Tiana and I don't know how long that relevance will stick around too.
[00:18:49] Right.
[00:18:50] Because sooner or later, we're not going to remember that movie.
[00:18:53] You know?
[00:18:54] Um, I don't think it is as popular as cars, Toy Story, uh, Finding Nemo, uh, Snow White, you know, pick, pick a half a dozen movies.
[00:19:04] I don't think it was as popular as, you know, some of the other movies they could have put in there and they literally did nothing to the track.
[00:19:12] They just replaced the animatronics.
[00:19:16] Mm hmm.
[00:19:17] And that was it.
[00:19:19] The track is exactly the same.
[00:19:21] Yeah.
[00:19:22] Yeah.
[00:19:22] Yeah.
[00:19:22] So, you're seeing different things in the same place.
[00:19:25] Mm hmm.
[00:19:26] And that's it.
[00:19:27] Well, cause the, cause, because also the, the things that I've heard too, is like, they got rid of that spice mountain because it was like problematic.
[00:19:39] Yeah.
[00:19:40] Yeah.
[00:19:40] Yeah.
[00:19:41] Yeah.
[00:19:42] I've seen the movie song of the south.
[00:19:44] I wouldn't, I don't know.
[00:19:46] I wouldn't call it racist.
[00:19:48] You know, there's a book you for that period in time.
[00:19:52] That was correct.
[00:19:53] Yeah.
[00:19:53] Sadly, but that was correct.
[00:19:56] Yeah.
[00:19:56] Was it good?
[00:19:57] No, but you know, you can't erase history and you can't go back and change history.
[00:20:03] Mm hmm.
[00:20:03] And that's what Disney's trying to do.
[00:20:05] They're trying to erase it and change it.
[00:20:06] And you can't do that.
[00:20:08] No.
[00:20:08] You learn from the history and then you move forward from it.
[00:20:11] You know, we made this mistake.
[00:20:12] Now we got to go forward.
[00:20:13] And that's, that's the way I think of it.
[00:20:16] But, you know, they're trying to erase it and change it and remove it.
[00:20:20] And that's not the right method.
[00:20:22] So next time you come down, you'll take a ride on it and then you'll go, oh, it's the same thing.
[00:20:29] Just different characters.
[00:20:32] The music's changed and the characters are in different places.
[00:20:35] Okay.
[00:20:38] They should have left some, they should have left like Brer Fox somewhere.
[00:20:42] Just as a little nod to split.
[00:20:44] Just in the corner somewhere or just like.
[00:20:47] Like laughing or rolling on the floor.
[00:20:49] Yeah.
[00:20:50] Yeah.
[00:20:51] You know, so.
[00:20:54] But Brer, uh, Briar Rabbit somewhere maybe.
[00:20:57] Yeah, exactly.
[00:20:59] Exactly.
[00:20:59] I mean, there's nods to, you know, Mr. Toad in Winnie the Pooh or 20,000 Leagues is in Winnie the Pooh.
[00:21:06] You know, there's, you know, when they rip something out, they usually leave something behind this.
[00:21:11] They just seem to rip out and leave nothing behind.
[00:21:14] Mm hmm.
[00:21:14] You know, so.
[00:21:19] Yeah.
[00:21:20] With Winnie the Pooh.
[00:21:22] And I saw a TikTok video on it.
[00:21:25] Right.
[00:21:26] And so every time I go to Disney World now and ride that ride, I make sure to like look over and see that.
[00:21:32] And take a picture of it.
[00:21:33] Cause I'm like, that's just so cool.
[00:21:35] Yeah.
[00:21:36] Yeah.
[00:21:36] And the tree out front of Winnie the Pooh where you can, well, you can't walk through because you have to only be six inches high.
[00:21:42] But if you stick your head in there, there's a Nautilus carved in the wall.
[00:21:47] And that's a nod to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which is, which across the street from it.
[00:21:52] Oh my God.
[00:21:53] That's so cool.
[00:21:54] Yeah.
[00:21:54] Yeah.
[00:21:55] I want to get into this, the villain's land now for a little bit.
[00:22:00] I know I'm kind of jumping all over the place.
[00:22:02] No, no, that's fine.
[00:22:03] That's fine.
[00:22:07] Love that we're finally getting a villain's land.
[00:22:11] Love that.
[00:22:12] Right.
[00:22:12] I've been shooting.
[00:22:13] I've been protesting for that for like years cause the villains need their land.
[00:22:20] Right.
[00:22:22] Don't love the, the villain show in that, that they're putting in Hollywood studios.
[00:22:28] Cause that doesn't seem like a good place.
[00:22:31] Yeah.
[00:22:31] That's temporary.
[00:22:32] That is a test.
[00:22:34] Okay.
[00:22:35] So they're going to put that show there and I don't think it was going to last long.
[00:22:41] I'd probably maybe say three months, six years, three months, six months, something like that.
[00:22:45] And then they'll probably change it to something else or put something else in there.
[00:22:48] And I think what they're trying to do is figure out how scary can something be without making small kids cry.
[00:22:59] Yeah.
[00:22:59] Yeah.
[00:23:00] How, you know, how many villains or how scary can we get this?
[00:23:05] Or, you know, you know, what can we do to still make this entertaining?
[00:23:09] Maybe a little frightful, you know, I mean, they took out like in California too.
[00:23:15] Like it used to be, um, what was it?
[00:23:17] Snow White, scary adventure.
[00:23:19] And then they put not so scary adventure because no kid wanted to go on it.
[00:23:24] So they had to change the name of it because kids going scary.
[00:23:27] No, I'm not going in there.
[00:23:28] So I think they're trying to figure out to what level they can do this, you know, that and that theater, uh, when they built it, uh, what they call a black box theater.
[00:23:41] So it's literally a high tech theater where the intent was that they can swap shows in and out, uh, because it was just a stage with lighting and that's it.
[00:23:52] There was no seats, no, nothing like that.
[00:23:54] So they can make the stage as big or small as they needed to fit whatever show they wanted to do there.
[00:23:59] And it started off as club Disney.
[00:24:02] It was just like a place to go sit, recharge.
[00:24:05] They had a small kiosk in there to buy drinks and pretzels.
[00:24:08] I think, uh, then they turned it into a villains nighttime show where that was, it was a ticketed event.
[00:24:17] You buy an extra ticket and go see a villain show.
[00:24:19] And now they're trying to figure out, you know, for the villains land, what can we do in there?
[00:24:26] So I think we're going to see different concepts going through that theater now for villains land, maybe even cars too, you know, and, and monsters, I think.
[00:24:35] And all of those things that they're trying to build right now may be tested in that theater.
[00:24:40] So I don't expect that show to stay a very long time.
[00:24:43] Um, but I think they're going to put something together and try it there.
[00:24:48] And even think of this, you know, you know, for the cruise ships too, because now they can test shows in that theater as well, that they might want to put on the destiny.
[00:24:58] Right. They haven't put villains on a cruise ship yet.
[00:25:01] And I think this is another way they're going to go is, you know, they put the haunted mansion lounge currently, but I think they're going to try and put villains on a cruise ship.
[00:25:11] And I think it might be the destiny, which is up.
[00:25:14] So keep that in mind when you're watching that show.
[00:25:17] Yeah.
[00:25:17] Because I think where my mind went was like, if they're doing a villains land, why not put that show in villains land?
[00:25:26] You know what I mean?
[00:25:27] Yeah.
[00:25:27] Yeah.
[00:25:28] There definitely will be a show in villains land, but this is the pilot test.
[00:25:32] Yeah.
[00:25:33] Okay.
[00:25:33] Yeah.
[00:25:34] Yeah.
[00:25:35] Now I don't really, you know, it was interesting that they decided to put it in the magic kingdom.
[00:25:39] Cause that's supposed to be the happiest place on earth.
[00:25:43] Yeah.
[00:25:43] And is it going to be happy now that we have villains in there?
[00:25:47] So am I happy?
[00:25:49] I don't know.
[00:25:51] So that was an interesting choice.
[00:25:54] I wasn't, I, it really wouldn't fit in Epcot.
[00:25:57] Where would you put villains in Epcot?
[00:25:58] That doesn't make any sense.
[00:26:00] No, the studios kind of makes a little sense.
[00:26:03] Uh, you know, because that's about, I don't know, shows and movies and TV and stuff.
[00:26:09] So might've fit a little bit, but magic kingdom was like, really?
[00:26:13] Okay.
[00:26:14] We'll see.
[00:26:15] I mean, to me, magic kingdom makes sense.
[00:26:17] I mean, they have all the princesses and stuff there and like the, the, the villains like counterparts.
[00:26:26] So it's like, why not just put the villains there too?
[00:26:30] So yeah.
[00:26:31] Yeah.
[00:26:32] All lumped into one.
[00:26:33] Right.
[00:26:33] And I think that's going, that is also going to be a land that's going to be on the other
[00:26:38] side of the railroad tracks.
[00:26:40] Yeah.
[00:26:40] And unfortunately I have a feeling once they start getting construction going, they're
[00:26:47] going to shut down the train again for another two years until they build the villains land.
[00:26:53] And then, because I have a feeling they're going to build another tunnel and a walkway
[00:26:58] over the train track like they did for Tron.
[00:27:01] And, uh, we're not going to see the train again for two years, which makes me sad.
[00:27:05] I'm a big Disney train fanatic.
[00:27:08] Mm hmm.
[00:27:09] So hopefully they can save that part to the end.
[00:27:14] Mm hmm.
[00:27:14] Yeah.
[00:27:15] I can't remember.
[00:27:16] Is the train the one that takes you to Rafiki's Planet Watch or is that?
[00:27:22] Oh, no, that's an animal kingdom.
[00:27:23] That's animal kingdom.
[00:27:24] Yeah.
[00:27:25] This is a regular train around the magic kingdom.
[00:27:28] Yeah.
[00:27:28] Okay.
[00:27:28] Yeah.
[00:27:29] Okay.
[00:27:30] Yeah.
[00:27:30] Yeah.
[00:27:30] Yeah.
[00:27:31] I remember for the life of me, which train is which.
[00:27:34] Yeah.
[00:27:34] Yeah.
[00:27:34] This stops in Frontierland, Fantasyland and then Main Street.
[00:27:39] Uh, so it's like mini transportation around the park.
[00:27:41] If you want to get from Main Street to Frontierland, you can just hop on the train and not walk
[00:27:45] it or all the way to Fantasyland.
[00:27:48] Mm hmm.
[00:27:48] Just take the train.
[00:27:49] Which I like to do all the time.
[00:27:51] Yeah.
[00:27:51] Yeah.
[00:27:52] Saves me steps.
[00:27:54] Oh, I remember the train now.
[00:27:57] I, cause I re re remember going on it and then I would hear like Peter Pan on like the
[00:28:02] roof or something.
[00:28:03] And yeah.
[00:28:05] Yeah.
[00:28:05] Yeah.
[00:28:05] Yeah.
[00:28:07] It's good attraction.
[00:28:08] Well, yeah, I am excited for Ville and Santa because I don't know if you've seen
[00:28:15] Disney's, uh, I can't remember the name.
[00:28:19] Uh, um, but there was like a, a, a tick tocker.
[00:28:24] Mm hmm.
[00:28:25] Um, and he posted the video of like the, the, uh, announcement of like, who's, which villain
[00:28:34] is going to, is going to be in the park.
[00:28:36] Oh, cool.
[00:28:37] Yeah.
[00:28:37] I haven't seen it yet.
[00:28:38] Yeah.
[00:28:39] Um, hopefully all of them.
[00:28:43] Let's see.
[00:28:44] Let's see.
[00:28:44] Gaston, Yzma, Queen of Hearts, Crilla, Lady Chermaine.
[00:28:51] Mm hmm.
[00:28:53] The evil queen.
[00:28:55] Yep.
[00:28:55] Yeah.
[00:28:56] Uh, the, the, the, the evil queen and her old ha, uh, evil, like the, the old hag part,
[00:29:06] which I don't know how they're going to do.
[00:29:08] Yeah.
[00:29:08] Right.
[00:29:09] Yeah.
[00:29:10] All right.
[00:29:11] And Ursula.
[00:29:12] Yeah.
[00:29:13] Ursula.
[00:29:13] Finally.
[00:29:15] Ursula in the park.
[00:29:16] Finally.
[00:29:17] Yeah.
[00:29:17] Yeah.
[00:29:18] We did.
[00:29:18] I actually, I just listened to it, uh, last week.
[00:29:22] Uh, we did an interview with Pat Carroll, uh, before she passed away, probably a couple
[00:29:27] of years before she passed away.
[00:29:28] It was a fantastic interview.
[00:29:30] She, she, she came really from like Vaudeville and, uh, Broadway and then started doing some
[00:29:39] movies and then got asked to do this part.
[00:29:42] And, um, I can't imagine anybody doing Ursula now.
[00:29:48] Um, I mean, that's the only thing I hear is Pat Carroll's voice and, and her laugh.
[00:29:52] And when she, when she does, does her laugh in real life, it's the character you're hearing
[00:29:57] the, she didn't change it.
[00:29:58] She didn't say like, Oh, I'm going to make this horrible, you know, cackle.
[00:30:02] She just laughed and that happened to be her laugh.
[00:30:05] And, you know, they captured it and recorded, but if you get a chance, go back and listen
[00:30:09] to that.
[00:30:09] It was a great interview.
[00:30:11] Uh, and I love, uh, listening to her just tell our stories, you know, and that was one
[00:30:17] of the reasons really I started the podcast was I wanted to be able to talk to, you know,
[00:30:22] the imagineers, the, uh, designers, creators, and let them tell their stories because, you
[00:30:30] know, once they get old and pass away, I mean, Bob Gurr is old.
[00:30:33] Once he passes away, who's going to tell his stories, you know, and that's why they need
[00:30:39] to be, you know, recorded and documented, you know, so that we have these things to,
[00:30:45] you know, pass on.
[00:30:47] That's really my dream is to tell his story and to tell like all these other imagineers
[00:30:54] their stories.
[00:30:55] Yeah.
[00:30:56] Yeah.
[00:30:57] Yeah.
[00:30:58] Yeah.
[00:30:58] Just reach out.
[00:30:59] A lot of them that are not really working for the Disney company are willing to just blabber
[00:31:04] on about what they've done, you know, they love doing it.
[00:31:09] So I, I can imagine Bob Gurr has a lot of stories about Walt and Oh yeah.
[00:31:17] Yeah.
[00:31:17] He's got great stories.
[00:31:18] There was, um, I hadn't met him.
[00:31:21] I've met him several times and a friend of mine is actually friends with his been to his house
[00:31:26] and stuff.
[00:31:27] But I was in, uh, the board, uh, the boardwalk here, the boardwalk hotel.
[00:31:31] And I was waiting for somebody.
[00:31:34] And, and the previous night I was at an event with Bob Gurr.
[00:31:37] And he was talking, you know, all about Disney and making things and stuff like that.
[00:31:42] And I think he had a, uh, another event that night.
[00:31:46] So he came into the, the lounge here.
[00:31:50] And, uh, I, you know, as he was coming in, I said, Hey Bob, how are you?
[00:31:55] I said, are you coming to get a drink?
[00:31:57] And he says, yeah.
[00:31:58] I said, well, let me buy your, your drink.
[00:32:01] I said, you, you want a Gurtini?
[00:32:03] That's what he calls his martinis.
[00:32:05] He calls them Gurtinis.
[00:32:06] I, he says, yeah, I'll take a Gurtini.
[00:32:09] He goes, do you know what goes in?
[00:32:10] I said, trust me.
[00:32:11] I said, I'll order the Gurtini.
[00:32:13] If it's not correct, we'll send it back.
[00:32:15] But I'm pretty sure I know what you want.
[00:32:18] So orders a drink and me and him sat down on the couch.
[00:32:21] And for over an hour, we just talked about everything and anything.
[00:32:26] You know, we talked about Walt Disney.
[00:32:28] We talked about Marty Scalar.
[00:32:30] We talked about.
[00:32:32] Monorails.
[00:32:33] We talked about him kidnapping the president, all kinds of great stories, you know,
[00:32:38] and there were other people in the lounge, but nobody like approached and came up and asked.
[00:32:45] Everybody was listening to this conversation, but nobody got up from their seat.
[00:32:50] Everybody was just looking at us.
[00:32:51] I could feel everybody looking at the two of us sitting on this couch.
[00:32:55] And then Bob had to leave to go to this event.
[00:32:58] He got up and we said our goodbyes.
[00:33:00] And that's when everybody went over and asked for his autograph and take a picture.
[00:33:04] So, but it was a great time.
[00:33:06] But if you don't know the story, when Disneyland opened, Bob was driving the monorail at Disneyland
[00:33:13] and Walt and President Nixon got in the monorail and they left to do a loop around the park.
[00:33:22] But they did not have the Secret Service on the train.
[00:33:25] And the Secret Service said, we can arrest you for kidnapping the president
[00:33:34] Oh, my God. Poor Walt. Poor, poor Walt.
[00:33:41] Poor, poor Walt.
[00:33:42] Poor Bob.
[00:33:44] The president probably didn't care.
[00:33:47] The president probably had a good time.
[00:33:49] Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So.
[00:33:52] Poor Walt probably didn't have a good time after after the fact, because he was about to be arrested.
[00:33:56] Yeah. Yeah. Oh, please take me away.
[00:34:03] The next attraction at Disneyland.
[00:34:05] Present.
[00:34:11] Sponsored by the Orange County Sheriff.

[00:34:47] The only park I think next year that will not have construction, weirdly enough, will be Epcot.
[00:34:55] There's nothing, there's nothing currently announced or planned.
[00:35:02] And there are literally, I was there yesterday and there are currently no construction walls anywhere.
[00:35:08] So.
[00:35:09] I was thinking about that yesterday actually.
[00:35:11] I was thinking, I was thinking it myself.
[00:35:14] For the next couple of years, I think Epcot's the only one that's not going to have a green wall.
[00:35:20] Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Everything else is going to have some kind of construction going on.
[00:35:26] Everywhere else is going to have those ugly green walls.
[00:35:29] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:35:30] And the other thing that they announced and the construction is going to start again is
[00:35:36] the previously called the Reflections Lodge, which was going to be next to Fort Wilderness, where River Country sat,
[00:35:48] stopped during the pandemic.
[00:35:50] And that is now under construction again.
[00:35:55] I think they're calling it, I have a different name for it.
[00:36:00] It's not Reflections anymore.
[00:36:01] Lake Lodge or something.
[00:36:03] They have a different name for it, but that is going to be a great addition.
[00:36:08] And there will be cabins along the water like they did for Wilderness Lodge as well.
[00:36:15] Now, we don't know if that's going to be an old DVC resort or if it's going to be part DVC, part regular cash hotels.
[00:36:23] I also, sorry, I was like looking at things, like a list of things that are coming.
[00:36:29] I was thinking too, because they're also reimagining the Little Mermaid show.
[00:36:38] Yes.
[00:36:39] In Hollywood Studios.
[00:36:40] Yes.
[00:36:41] Yeah.
[00:36:42] Which I'm excited for, but also not excited for.
[00:36:46] One reason I'm not excited for is because I heard that they got rid of the mist that goes above your head to make it.
[00:36:55] Foggy.
[00:36:56] Like you're underwater.
[00:36:58] Like you're underwater.
[00:36:59] And the snow bites, they got rid of that because it's like outdated.
[00:37:02] But I'm like, but that's what makes this team feel like you're going under the water.
[00:37:08] Yeah.
[00:37:08] The laser is giving it the kind of like wavy feel.
[00:37:11] Yeah.
[00:37:12] Yeah.
[00:37:13] I don't know.
[00:37:14] You know, it's speculation until they open the doors and we get in there and we see it.
[00:37:18] We don't know.
[00:37:19] I personally hope that they replaced all the carpeting in the chairs because it's stunk in there.
[00:37:27] It was.
[00:37:28] Yeah.
[00:37:28] It could use a good cleaning.
[00:37:30] I mean, yeah, it was more black than it was green.
[00:37:36] I forgot about that.
[00:37:37] Oh, my God.
[00:37:38] I forgot about that.
[00:37:40] It was supposed to be green, but it didn't look it.
[00:37:42] So I forgot about the smell and the.
[00:37:45] Oh, my God.
[00:37:46] Hopefully the seats and carpeting are new unless they ran out of budget for the show.
[00:37:51] Yeah.
[00:37:51] Interesting fact.
[00:37:52] I was talking to an Imagineer about a Toy Story Land when they built it.
[00:37:57] I said, why did you not build any shade anywhere in this land?
[00:38:03] There's no place to get out of the sun.
[00:38:07] So his answer was, well, that's not our job.
[00:38:13] I'm like, what?
[00:38:14] What?
[00:38:15] He says, our job is to build the attractions and the land and the restaurants and the facilities and buildings.
[00:38:23] It is up to park operations to put in shade or seats.
[00:38:30] What?
[00:38:32] That's what he told me.
[00:38:34] I said, okay.
[00:38:35] It is your job, sir.
[00:38:39] That's what I would have said.
[00:38:40] If it's part of a building or the attraction, because we don't get budget for seating or umbrellas or we don't get budget for that.
[00:38:48] We get budget for building the structures and the attraction, but not any of the amenities or the nice things that you all like.
[00:38:57] I'm like, like the fans in the queues is also not an Imagineering job.
[00:39:03] That would be park operations that would, you know, put in that request and take it out of their budget.
[00:39:10] Like I would have been like, I don't want to die before we get on the thing.
[00:39:16] Hey, one.
[00:39:18] Yeah.
[00:39:19] Another one.
[00:39:20] Slinky dog passed out.
[00:39:21] Sorry.
[00:39:24] I would have just literally just just stood up and I would have just been like, it is your job, sir.
[00:39:34] Yeah.
[00:39:35] Yeah.
[00:39:36] He was a pretty high up executive.
[00:39:38] I didn't want to piss him off.
[00:39:41] I guess I need to speak to him again.
[00:39:43] I mean, I'm toxic.
[00:39:44] I don't care.
[00:39:45] Yeah, I'm talking about fight.
[00:39:47] I don't care.
[00:39:48] And listen, I've had season to see the cease letter sent to me, so I'm willing to say anything, too.
[00:39:54] But this guy just wanted to keep as a friend and just in case I needed him again.
[00:40:00] What are we? Oh, we haven't talked about Animal Kingdom.
[00:40:03] So I don't know how I feel about.
[00:40:05] Oh, all right.
[00:40:07] I'm glad Dinoland's going because it I know it just garbage.
[00:40:11] It's garbage.
[00:40:12] Yeah, I'll say it.
[00:40:13] There was nothing there.
[00:40:16] Dinosaur is great, but I feel we're going to have the same misfit problem with Splash Mountain right there.
[00:40:24] They're they're not going to tear the thing down and build something new.
[00:40:27] They're going to take the existing track and then overlay a story on top of that.
[00:40:34] That's Indiana Jones.
[00:40:35] Yeah, I was going to be Indiana Jones.
[00:40:38] Yes.
[00:40:39] Not the Indiana Jones in California is going to be a different story from that.
[00:40:43] So we're going to get a different story and it's the same ride vehicle.
[00:40:48] Right.
[00:40:49] They're just going to, you know, re theme it to be Indiana Jones with a different story inside.
[00:40:54] So we'll say, you know, the queue in Disneyland California is fantastic.
[00:41:03] I mean, they have a great queue.
[00:41:04] It's like one of the longest queues in that park.
[00:41:07] I think it's like almost close to a half a mile and there's a lot of stuff.
[00:41:11] It's almost like going on Expedition Everest.
[00:41:15] There's so much to see in the queue that you want to go in the queue.
[00:41:18] You don't want to go in the lightning land because there's a lot of things to say and, you know, take into the story.
[00:41:23] All right.
[00:41:24] So this queue is obviously shorter and, you know, I don't, you know, unless they add on to the queue to make it, you know, more part of the story.
[00:41:32] We'll see.
[00:41:34] And then the other two was it in Kanto is coming there.
[00:41:38] Right.
[00:41:39] It really wasn't like the Americas or whatever.
[00:41:43] Yeah.
[00:41:44] Capital America.
[00:41:45] Right.
[00:41:46] Wasn't my favorite movie.
[00:41:47] I mean, it was okay.
[00:41:48] Wasn't great.
[00:41:51] So we'll see how that goes, how they're going to fit Indiana Jones and in Kanto in the same area.
[00:41:58] That's what I was confused about.
[00:42:00] Cause I was like, yeah, it makes sense, but I mean, I mean, Indiana Jones makes sense, but why in Kanto?
[00:42:08] Well, they're calling it the Americas.
[00:42:10] So what is that like Brazil?
[00:42:12] And then, you know, South America is kind of where Indiana Jones did his thing.
[00:42:16] So that's why they're calling it the Americas, because it's based on South America.
[00:42:21] Yeah.
[00:42:22] The tropical America.
[00:42:24] Yeah.
[00:42:24] The tropical Americas.
[00:42:26] Yeah.
[00:42:26] So we'll see.
[00:42:28] We'll see.
[00:42:29] But I just.
[00:42:33] My personal opinion is this is my opinion.
[00:42:36] No one.
[00:42:37] No one in that that's listening to my podcast has to read with me, but I feel like.
[00:42:45] It can't.
[00:42:46] Could be put in the Mexico pavilion.
[00:42:50] Oh, yeah.
[00:42:52] Mm hmm.
[00:42:52] Yeah.
[00:42:53] Yeah.
[00:42:53] Yeah, definitely.
[00:42:55] Definitely.
[00:42:56] And that's where I was surprised.
[00:42:58] Like, you know, when that movie came out, like they didn't quickly reimagine, you know, the attraction in there to to be in Kanto.
[00:43:07] Mm hmm.
[00:43:07] I mean, there is something at the end now.
[00:43:10] Miguel playing his guitar and that's it.
[00:43:13] But they didn't.
[00:43:15] And I mean, Animal Kingdom is not my favorite park and you can send the hate mail.
[00:43:20] I don't care.
[00:43:21] I find that there's a couple of reasons why I don't like one is it's always twice as hot than any other park because the tree cover keeps all the heat.
[00:43:34] Like the heat of the pavement and the heat of the sun, you're just.
[00:43:39] You know, something being cooked between leaves and concrete.
[00:43:43] Yeah.
[00:43:43] Because it keeps all the heat in there.
[00:43:44] The other reason I don't like it is the walkways are not flat.
[00:43:49] It's like bumpy.
[00:43:50] There's trees.
[00:43:51] It's like I feel like I'm always tripping over something like I can't.
[00:43:57] True.
[00:43:58] I can't get them point A to point B.
[00:43:59] Now, the other reason is when they used to have a parade in there.
[00:44:03] Oh, my God.
[00:44:04] That park was a mess.
[00:44:07] If you had to leave for whatever reason, when the parade was going on, you literally had to go around the entire park to get out the other side to walk out the exit because it kind of took up the entire left hand side of the park.
[00:44:22] And that was it.
[00:44:23] So if you had to go, you had to go the other way because there was no room.
[00:44:27] I mean, not me, but a friend of mine, actually, one of the ride vehicles went over their foot because, you know, it barely fit between the little tape line and the walkway.
[00:44:40] So that's why it's not my favorite place.
[00:44:45] And there's not enough attractions there for me.
[00:44:48] You know, I mean, I'm not saying like I need to ride Expedition Everest type attractions all day long.
[00:44:53] So I love the shows.
[00:44:55] I love the Lion King show.
[00:44:56] I love the Nemo show there.
[00:44:59] They're fantastic.
[00:45:01] But.
[00:45:03] If they do Everest and you see the two shows, what else is there now?
[00:45:08] Yeah, I agree.
[00:45:09] Like, I mean, I think I like there's the up.
[00:45:16] Show there's the up show where they do like the birds.
[00:45:19] Yeah, but I just went there once and I was like, I'm not doing it again.
[00:45:23] Yeah.
[00:45:24] How many times can you see that?
[00:45:26] You know, it's the same bird.
[00:45:28] They're the same birds every show.
[00:45:30] Yeah, exactly.
[00:45:32] Exactly.
[00:45:32] And the Safari too.
[00:45:34] I mean, yeah, you maybe you'll get lucky and you'll see the line up on Pride Rock and maybe you won't.
[00:45:40] Maybe you'll see animals.
[00:45:42] Or maybe you won't.
[00:45:44] Yeah.
[00:45:44] And I just recently found out.
[00:45:47] And that they don't do the the night Safari anymore.
[00:45:52] They they they shut down this thing for what, three, six months to put all the special lighting so that they can have the night Safari.
[00:46:01] They can run the Safari vehicles through and not really disturb the animals and trick them to think it was daylight.
[00:46:10] But just enough lighting so that you could see as a human, but not to trick the animals that hey, it was daytime again.
[00:46:19] So a lot of time and money and effort was spent into doing that.
[00:46:22] And now they're not even running the nighttime Safari anymore.
[00:46:26] Yeah, they're not even you utilizing that anymore.
[00:46:29] I don't know why.
[00:46:30] Yeah.
[00:46:31] I don't know.
[00:46:32] Could be cutbacks could be, you know, time money.
[00:46:35] Who knows?
[00:46:36] They don't have enough cast members.
[00:46:39] You know, I still think in some places they are struggling, you know, with the cast member headcount.
[00:46:46] So and I and there that is one reason why park reservations still exist.
[00:46:53] Without park reservations, they don't know what park is going to be in demand right before, you know, boom, nine o'clock.
[00:47:03] And everybody went wherever they wanted.
[00:47:05] And Disney had no idea if everybody's going to the Magic Kingdom or to Epcot.
[00:47:10] Now, at least with park reservations ago, oh, we have a lot of demand for this park today.
[00:47:15] So let's make sure that we can staff that park correctly for that day.
[00:47:20] You know, so I think that is one reason why reservations still exist and may not go away for a very long time.
[00:47:29] They really can't, you know, without the only other way to do that is if you were to purchase like a four day ticket.
[00:47:37] And then you had to give Disney the order that you were going to do your parks, right?
[00:47:43] I was going to go Magic Kingdom, Epcot Studios, Animal Kingdom.
[00:47:46] That would be the only way they can predict or have some kind of prediction of your crazy park madness order.
[00:47:55] Right. Otherwise, it's just a guessing game on where people are going to go.
[00:47:59] I don't know. To me, too, it's like Disney has what at least what I've noticed is Disney has prioritized the wrong things.
[00:48:10] Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah.
[00:48:12] Especially with like the guests. Like I hate to talk about the the the DAS pass again, because I talked about it before, like a couple episodes ago.
[00:48:23] But the DAS pass is something that like a lot of people were looking forward to.
[00:48:33] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And now a lot of people, including myself, can't use it because they changed the rules of like, yeah, who can use it and who can't.
[00:48:46] Yeah. Yeah. So my girlfriend's got, you know, several medical problems with that doesn't allow her to walk or stand for very long periods of time.
[00:48:58] And recently she tried again and they just came out and said, listen, we are not doing DAS pass for any medical reasons.
[00:49:08] You have to be neurodivergent. And that is the only acceptable, you know, thing.
[00:49:13] I said, well, the next time you call, just say you you're neurodivergent and lie.
[00:49:19] Well, they get all right. So they take your annual password. Great. Great.
[00:49:23] So fine. Tell them thanks and you'll go to SeaWorld now or you go to Universal Epic, which is going to be epic.
[00:49:33] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:49:35] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And with the new Wicked movie coming out, I really hope that that they build Oz.
[00:49:43] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:49:45] Yeah. Because that movie was I don't even know if you are into those kind of movies or not.
[00:49:51] I guess they did. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:49:52] Yeah. And I don't know if you've seen Wicked part one yet, but it's it's so good.
[00:49:58] Yeah. Yeah. It was it was it was I had I had not seen it the Broadway version.
[00:50:06] So I'm assuming this story was similar to that. Yeah.
[00:50:09] Or the same, you know. Yeah.
[00:50:11] OK, so that's great. They stuck to that. Yeah, it was good.
[00:50:14] And and the two leads were, you know, did a great job.
[00:50:19] You know, if they were actually singing or if it was auto tuned.
[00:50:23] And it was live. Yeah. They did live singing the whole entire movie.
[00:50:27] Yeah. Yeah. So part one and part two.
[00:50:29] Yeah. So. Yeah, it'd be great.
[00:50:32] Yeah. I mean, I know they have some little pop up thing at Universal currently.
[00:50:37] Yeah. But, you know, now they really should be thinking about something else.
[00:50:42] So and, you know, here's the difference between Disney.
[00:50:46] And say Universal, 99.9 percent of everything that goes into a Disney park is their own intellectual property.
[00:50:55] They own the rights to the movies, the characters, the stories and all those things.
[00:51:00] Universal, on the other hand, does not typically own like, you know, they're borrowing some Marvel stuff from us.
[00:51:08] You know, they they own Jimmy Fallon for the rest of his life.
[00:51:13] But there are other things in the park that they don't own that, you know, they're borrowing from other movies and things like that.
[00:51:20] So that's, you know, like Nintendo Land would be a great example.
[00:51:24] You know, they have permission, obviously, from the Nintendo company to build this land.
[00:51:29] And they pay probably Nintendo a large sum of money, much like they pay Harry Potter a large sum of money, you know, for all of the intellectual property that they're using in the parks.
[00:51:44] So that's kind of really the main difference between those two themed parks is, you know, Universal has a lot of borrowed things where, you know, Disney, it's their own.
[00:51:56] Yeah.
[00:51:58] So because because I know that I know for a fact that Wicked is you is universal.
[00:52:04] Yeah.
[00:52:05] So so they own that.
[00:52:07] So yeah, they own that. Right.
[00:52:08] So that would be easy pocket change.
[00:52:12] Because I think people would go to that.
[00:52:15] Yeah, they built a Wizard of Oz land.
[00:52:18] Yeah.
[00:52:19] I mean, yeah, I'd go to Munchkin land.
[00:52:22] I'd go to Shiz University.
[00:52:24] Yeah.
[00:52:25] Who wouldn't follow the Yellow Brook Road?
[00:52:28] Right.
[00:52:29] I'd go to Emerald City.
[00:52:31] Yeah.
[00:52:31] You can make some, you know, literally, you could follow that Yellow Brook Road just like Dorothy did.
[00:52:37] And then at the end is a super E ticket crazy Oz attraction.
[00:52:43] That would be like a no brainer.
[00:52:45] You know, no brainer.
[00:52:47] Literally, you meet the scarecrow.
[00:52:49] You meet the Tin Man.
[00:52:51] You meet the lion.
[00:52:52] You get to Oz.
[00:52:54] Boom.
[00:52:55] E ticket attraction at the end of that.
[00:52:56] That is.
[00:52:57] That's a no brainer.
[00:52:58] Yeah.
[00:52:58] It's a no brainer.
[00:52:59] Like, I read somewhere, um, our, our, our, our Ariana Grande.
[00:53:08] She even was like, I really like our Ariana Grande was like, I really want Universal to make a Oz theme land.
[00:53:18] Yeah.
[00:53:19] Yeah.
[00:53:20] They really should.
[00:53:21] Yeah.
[00:53:22] It would be, uh, it'd be very, you know, it takes a couple of years, but I think that the concept, like, it's an easy story to tell.
[00:53:30] Yeah.
[00:53:30] You know, um, and like I'm saying, I mean, you start from Dorothy's house in a black and white kind of land to the time that you get to Munchkin land and you literally exit, you know, out of the house and into Munch.
[00:53:49] I'm all right.
[00:53:51] Maybe I need to go work for creative, uh, over at did, uh, universal.
[00:53:59] Where's that?
[00:54:00] Where's their job board?
[00:54:01] Let me go see if they got any openings.
[00:54:04] Like, no, but no, seriously.
[00:54:06] Like there could be like a ride where like you ride.
[00:54:10] Uh, Alphaba's broom.
[00:54:13] Yeah.
[00:54:14] Yeah.
[00:54:15] Glinda's bubble.
[00:54:17] Yeah.
[00:54:17] Yeah.
[00:54:19] Hey, bring twister back.
[00:54:22] Yes.
[00:54:22] Oh my God.
[00:54:23] Oh, I missed that ride.
[00:54:25] Yeah.
[00:54:26] I missed that attraction.
[00:54:27] Bring twister back, but you put Dorothy's house in it now.
[00:54:30] Yeah.
[00:54:31] I really do miss that ride.
[00:54:32] Yeah.
[00:54:33] Yeah.
[00:54:34] I, I missed, uh, I didn't get a chance to see it.
[00:54:37] Um, I was a volunteer fireman and I didn't go get a chance to see the backdraft attraction.
[00:54:44] I really want to go see that.
[00:54:45] So, um, I was in enough backdrafts myself.
[00:54:49] I don't probably need to.
[00:54:51] I feel like, Hey, put this fire out.
[00:54:55] What are you doing?
[00:54:56] We're burning up.
[00:54:56] I heard a rumor though.
[00:55:00] When they fit like, uh, that Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt went, when they filmed, they hated
[00:55:07] each other.
[00:55:08] Yeah.
[00:55:09] Probably.
[00:55:10] Yeah.
[00:55:11] They did not get along.
[00:55:12] Yeah.
[00:55:13] Yeah.
[00:55:13] I don't think everybody does on a movie set.
[00:55:16] No.
[00:55:17] No.
[00:55:18] No.
[00:55:19] Yeah.
[00:55:19] Yeah.
[00:55:20] I can see that.
[00:55:22] I could definitely, they make it seamless seem like they do, but they don't.
[00:55:26] Yeah.
[00:55:26] Well, they're getting paid a lot of money to act like they like each other.
[00:55:31] To act like, like, like, like, like they're in love.
[00:55:35] Like, like they love each other.
[00:55:37] Yeah.
[00:55:37] I love you for the $30 million I'm being paid to do this movie.
[00:55:43] But I hate you 30 other million ways.
[00:55:48] You'll get out of my trailer.
[00:55:52] Oh, my God.
[00:55:55] Yeah.
[00:55:56] So it's going to be an interesting next couple of years.
[00:56:00] I think 2025, 26, 27, I think is when all of this will kind of come to fruition.
[00:56:07] So we'll have to see what happens.
[00:56:10] Yeah.
[00:56:11] It'll be, it'll be interesting.
[00:56:15] Yeah.
[00:56:15] Yes.
[00:56:16] It'll be interesting, but we also don't know if it'll be good.
[00:56:20] No, we don't know.
[00:56:21] And, you know, Disney to, you know, outside the parks, I mean, they got quite a lineup of
[00:56:28] movies coming out next year as well.
[00:56:31] So, you know, see how that goes as well.
[00:56:35] Yeah.
[00:56:35] They got a lot of Marvel, Pixar, Disney, all kinds of stuff.
[00:56:41] Yeah.
[00:56:41] I don't know how I feel about the Snow White movie.
[00:56:44] I mean, some things should be just left alone.
[00:56:48] When I went to go see Wicked part one for the first time, like when I first saw it, like I saw it like, like, like four times.
[00:56:56] But the very first time that I saw it, I saw the Snow White trailer.
[00:57:06] Yeah.
[00:57:07] I kept like glaring at this, like glaring at the screen.
[00:57:12] Like, I hate you.
[00:57:13] I hate you.
[00:57:14] I know.
[00:57:15] I know.
[00:57:16] Well, so interestingly enough, when, from what I read in Dateline and other Hollywood things, originally they had a black person cast for Snow White.
[00:57:30] And they, I think, were not using little people as dwarfs.
[00:58:09] Mm hmm.
[00:58:10] They're not actors.
[00:58:11] They're just all, you know, CGI'd in there.
[00:58:14] Yeah.
[00:58:14] And apparently, I heard Gail Gadot saying Snow White is not saved by her prince.
[00:58:22] Yeah.
[00:58:23] Oh no.
[00:58:24] Yeah.
[00:58:25] Her and Rachel Zegler both said that.
[00:58:28] And I'm like, is she.
[00:58:31] Isn't that the original story?
[00:58:33] Yeah.
[00:58:33] And you're right.
[00:58:35] And Rachel Zegler also said she's not gonna be saved by true love's first kiss.
[00:58:40] And she's not gonna be saved by the prince.
[00:58:41] I'm like, how the fuck is she gonna wake up?
[00:58:43] Yeah.
[00:58:45] A smack in the head by Dopey.
[00:58:49] But here's the thing.
[00:58:51] You can be upset with Disney any way you want.
[00:58:56] But think of this, kids.
[00:58:58] Think of this.
[00:58:59] Most of the stories Disney is telling is from grim fairy tales, which was written like in the 1900s.
[00:59:09] I'm not exactly sure.
[00:59:11] But they are very, very old fairy tales.
[00:59:15] Disney twisted them a little bit to make them fairy more fairy tale for kids.
[00:59:21] And, you know, to bring the adult into it.
[00:59:24] But they were not written by Disney, most of these things.
[00:59:27] Mm hmm.
[00:59:28] Like Frozen is a nice story written by Hans Christian Andersen.
[00:59:34] Yes.
[00:59:35] Hans Christian Andersen.
[00:59:36] Yes.
[00:59:37] Okay.
[00:59:37] So.
[00:59:39] Don't blame Disney for the way these things happen.
[00:59:42] They didn't write them.
[00:59:44] You know, they're just telling the story that was written bazillion years ago.
[00:59:48] Right?
[00:59:49] So.
[00:59:51] They didn't make a Snow White.
[00:59:52] They just recreated her in film, you know?
[00:59:57] So, I don't know.
[00:59:58] That would be.
[01:00:00] The only difference is though, this live action is terrible.
[01:00:04] Yeah.
[01:00:05] Yeah.
[01:00:06] And like, we're going to see Mustafa actually coming up on the 20th.
[01:00:10] And, you know, they're calling this a live action.
[01:00:13] Live action.
[01:00:15] Everything in it's fake.
[01:00:16] It's all CGI animals.
[01:00:17] Yeah.
[01:00:18] There's no, you didn't get a lion to walk across the Sahara for you, did you?
[01:00:23] Yes.
[01:00:23] You know, with a leash and then you erase the leash from the movie.
[01:00:27] You know, these are CGI people, you know?
[01:00:30] Yeah.
[01:00:31] Yeah.
[01:00:31] And even like Jungle Book.
[01:00:33] The only thing live in it was the kid.
[01:00:35] Everything else was fake.
[01:00:37] Yeah.
[01:00:38] So, don't call them live action.
[01:00:39] Call them reimagining of the Jungle Book story.
[01:00:43] Yep.
[01:00:43] Not a live action version.
[01:00:45] You know.
[01:00:46] I think, speaking of Mufasa for a little bit, I'm going to get on my soapbox a little bit here.
[01:00:53] Okay.
[01:00:54] Go.
[01:00:54] I hate this idea.
[01:00:58] Mm-hmm.
[01:00:59] I hate it.
[01:01:00] Mm-hmm.
[01:01:01] Who cares about like, how Mufasa became the king and all that crap?
[01:01:09] Yeah.
[01:01:10] I just read today.
[01:01:12] Uh, they're throwing around the idea of telling the Timba Pumbaa origin story.
[01:01:19] How they became friends.
[01:01:21] No.
[01:01:22] No, thank you.
[01:01:24] You don't, you don't want to know?
[01:01:26] No.
[01:01:28] Leave.
[01:01:29] Leave.
[01:01:29] Leave.
[01:01:29] Leave.
[01:01:30] Leave.
[01:01:34] Leave stuff to the imagination.
[01:01:36] Eating grubs and worms.
[01:01:40] I don't know.
[01:01:41] Sounds interesting.
[01:01:44] What about a live action of Stitch?
[01:01:47] That, you know, like what planet did you go to get Stitch?
[01:01:50] That was cute.
[01:01:52] That was cute.
[01:01:52] That, uh, I saw that, that, that, uh, trailer for that and I'm, oh my God, that's so cute.
[01:01:59] Yeah.
[01:02:00] Still not my favorite movie.
[01:02:02] No.
[01:02:02] I mean, it's not my favorite movie, but I think they made Stitch look so cute.
[01:02:07] Yeah.
[01:02:07] Well, is he live?
[01:02:09] No.
[01:02:09] You CGI.
[01:02:10] You CGI, but still he made him cute.
[01:02:13] They still didn't go to another planet to get him.
[01:02:16] He's fake.
[01:02:16] I wonder, like, I wonder like who is stitch?
[01:02:23] Like who, who, who they got.
[01:02:26] Who's doing the voice.
[01:02:27] Yeah.
[01:02:27] Yeah.
[01:02:28] I don't know.
[01:02:28] And here's a, uh, so, um, so we got Moana two this year, which was okay, but not as good
[01:02:36] as the first.
[01:02:36] I think the songs of the first one were way better.
[01:02:39] I'm not going to go see Moana two.
[01:02:43] Wait till it comes on Disney plus.
[01:02:44] Yeah.
[01:02:45] You'll be better off.
[01:02:46] Uh, but we still have the live action coming this year.
[01:02:51] So we're going to get like Moana three.
[01:02:55] Okay.
[01:02:57] Well, and that's the end of this episode guys.
[01:03:00] Um, I am so sorry for the abrupt ending.
[01:03:03] Uh, he had an emergency to, to, to, to attend to.
[01:03:09] So, um, so he had to leave.
[01:03:11] So, but I will leave all his links down, down below and you guys should check out his
[01:03:15] podcast.
[01:03:16] It's called Disney parks podcast.
[01:03:19] Um, it's really good actually, but yep.
[01:03:24] It's the end of this episode.
[01:03:25] So I will see you guys next time.
[01:03:27] Bye guys.
[01:03:27] Bye guys.
[01:03:28] Bye.
[01:03:29] Bye.
[01:03:30] Bye.
[01:03:31] Bye.
[01:03:32] Bye.
[01:03:32] Bye.
