[00:02:38] appreciate you in advance for your support. Well Goosebumps fans, we are back at it with another

[00:02:44] episode revisit of the original Goosebumps TV series. I love doing these seriously. These are some of our

[00:02:49] most favorite episodes and today we are revisiting an iconic and very classic episode of the original

[00:02:55] Goosebumps TV series. The two-parter episode, Stay Out of the Basement. This is a great episode. It is

[00:03:02] episodes 12 and 13 of season one released on January 27th 1996. It was directed by William

[00:03:10] Fruitt, written by Sean Kelly, an uncredited Billy Brown and Danny and Jewel as well. And it was based

[00:03:16] on the second ever book in the Goosebumps original series. And joining us today we have two very

[00:03:22] special stars from that episode so we're very pleased to welcome Mrs. Becky Lantos who played Margaret

[00:03:28] Brewer, the main character, and Mr. Judah Katz who played Dr. Brewer and Dr. Brewer also but a plant.

[00:03:37] So Becky and Judah we're very happy to have you. Thank you for joining us today and how are you guys

[00:03:42] doing tonight? Good. Yeah, thanks for having us. I don't feel good.

[00:03:49] Too much plant food, man. Yeah, that's the problem. How did you know that?

[00:03:55] Yeah, you're growing weeds in there. That's how they say when you eat a watermelon. You gotta put just the right

[00:03:59] amount of water along with the plant food. Do you know what the plant food was? What was it?

[00:04:05] I get asked that all the time. Well, it was disgusting.

[00:04:09] Well, we'll get to that. We'll get to that in just a second. But thank you guys.

[00:04:12] It was really gross. It was really gross. I can imagine. As I gotta say, this is, as I said,

[00:04:18] one of the most iconic classic episodes of the Goosebumps TV series. You know, we talk about

[00:04:22] Goosebumps all the time, but whenever we ask people what their favorite episodes of the original show

[00:04:27] are, chances are Stay Out of the Basement is among one of them. This is a very beloved episode.

[00:04:32] For many reasons. It's very tense and thrilling sort of episode, but it also has, it's probably

[00:04:39] one of the most disgusting and gross episodes of the original show and technically of the books too.

[00:04:46] I mean, the books get a little, just a little more gross in its description, but there's a lot

[00:04:53] to get to with this one, but we're very happy to have you both here. And of course, as submitted

[00:04:58] by you, the Goosebumps crew audience, we have our list of questions for Becky and Judah.

[00:05:02] Thank you guys for submitting your questions. And that's just another reason why you should follow

[00:05:06] us on social media, because if you ever want to submit more questions for other guests,

[00:05:10] that's the place to do it. So make sure you follow us there. But starting out, we always like to ask,

[00:05:15] you know, folks who come on the podcast who have acted in episodes, we always like to ask,

[00:05:20] how did you get involved with this episode of Goosebumps? What was the audition process like?

[00:05:26] Like, was it straightforward or was there like an interesting story attached to it?

[00:05:30] Ask the star first.

[00:05:33] Thanks, Dad.

[00:05:35] Honestly, I don't remember very well the audition process. Though I do remember,

[00:05:43] I think his name was Will or Bill, the director. I remember when he met me, he was like, whoa,

[00:05:51] your eyes. And I don't know if you guys remember, there's that whole shot where my eyes are through

[00:05:55] the screen door. Yeah, he just like he just I don't know if that's why he hired me or what.

[00:06:01] But I do I do remember that. And I was really excited to get on this show because I had done one

[00:06:07] episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark a couple of years before when I was really young.

[00:06:11] Just a really small part. I was screaming girl number two.

[00:06:16] And so this was a big, big, like big leap for me to go from screaming girl number two to the lead role

[00:06:21] in an episode of this show. And I was I was so excited and so stoked. I couldn't wait for it.

[00:06:27] In a special two part episode, not like not to mention, like that's a that's a big leap. And

[00:06:32] really quick, if I'm not mistaken, it was a tale of laughing in the dark, right with the clown.

[00:06:37] Yeah. Yeah. So you were one of the girls that was confronted by the clown in that.

[00:06:44] Yeah, yeah.

[00:06:46] That's really cool. And what about you? How was how did you get involved with Goosebumps?

[00:06:52] I was drunk a lot those days, so I really don't remember. It was all boring.

[00:06:59] I do know that this was cast by and Tate and and Tate we lost

[00:07:05] a few years later, and she was a doll. She was so sweet.

[00:07:11] And one of the special people, both of her kids are in the business

[00:07:17] and doing very well.

[00:07:19] But Ann was a sweet, sweet, sweet person, and it broke my heart when we lost her.

[00:07:25] We lost her pretty young. So I don't want to put a damper on it, but that's kind of

[00:07:29] that's where my mind goes to when we talk about the auditions. I don't remember anything

[00:07:36] from that. But yeah, poor Ann Tate.

[00:07:40] Yeah, I think the problem with auditions is they're just like they're all a dime a dozen, right?

[00:07:44] There's only a few that you get really like, oh, I really want this part.

[00:07:48] A lot of the times it's just you go in, you read the lines, you hope they're what you're looking for.

[00:07:53] And 99% of the time you're not. I take all that back. I got Ann Tate mixed up with another casting person.

[00:08:00] No, Ann's fine.

[00:08:05] Ann's fine. You see, this is what I mean. I drank too much back then.

[00:08:10] Oh, my Lord. That's terrible.

[00:08:13] Yeah.

[00:08:15] That she passed away 40 years ago. But anyways, yeah, no, no. Ann's a sweetheart, too.

[00:08:23] Well, shout out to Ann.

[00:08:25] That's a sweetheart, too.

[00:08:26] Shout out to Ann, yes.

[00:08:27] That's what happens. We're going back.

[00:08:29] Oh, good.

[00:08:29] Well, what's the math? 30, 40 years?

[00:08:31] It has been 30 years.

[00:08:33] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

[00:08:34] How 30 years?

[00:08:35] Huh?

[00:08:36] 40 years. Calm down, calm down.

[00:08:39] Well, who can do the math?

[00:08:42] You got two artists here. We can't do math.

[00:08:44] It was 30 years.

[00:08:45] So it's 30 years, right?

[00:08:47] Yes.

[00:08:47] Yeah.

[00:08:50] No wonder we're having trouble to remember all these details.

[00:08:53] Right?

[00:08:54] Yeah, so give me a break, okay?

[00:08:56] Well, I do want to bring up really quick the whole mantra of how it's just kind of like,

[00:09:02] you know, you don't really remember much from it.

[00:09:04] It's actually not an uncommon answer.

[00:09:06] In fact, a lot of people we've talked to about the Goosebumps show are just like,

[00:09:09] it just went in, you know.

[00:09:12] I think there was, I think it was only one person that being Kathryn Long that went in

[00:09:16] being like, I wanted to do this because I was a fan of Goosebumps.

[00:09:19] But everyone else was just kind of like, it was a job.

[00:09:22] Yeah.

[00:09:22] The books were huge back then.

[00:09:24] Eugene Lipinski, Eugene Lipinski actually wanted the role, but only got it because the person who

[00:09:31] originally got his part, I think, was claustrophobic and couldn't wear the prosthetics on his face or anything like that.

[00:09:41] Right.

[00:09:42] But he was one that really wanted to do, yeah, he really wanted to do Goosebumps and I believe

[00:09:48] Ian Clark was one because he said as granddaughter or niece or something, somebody.

[00:09:54] There's no guarantee when you're a child actor that you're going to have a career as an adult.

[00:10:01] Yeah.

[00:10:02] Because the looks and the attitude and how smart they are, that's very special stuff and how adorable they are.

[00:10:12] And like, Becky, you were really bright on set and everything.

[00:10:15] You're, you know, beyond your years.

[00:10:17] But that doesn't guarantee you work when you and I, I've seen like I teach acting now.

[00:10:25] Right.

[00:10:25] I privately coach actors and.

[00:10:29] Man, oh, man, oh, man.

[00:10:31] Like I could talk for hours about that.

[00:10:33] That's.

[00:10:33] So I get it.

[00:10:35] I get it.

[00:10:38] And just give us a second, guys.

[00:10:40] We got to catch up for just one.

[00:10:42] No problem at all.

[00:10:43] Take your time.

[00:10:46] Now, I have children, but but I think when we shot this, I didn't have my kids yet.

[00:10:51] So it's kind of fascinating.

[00:10:52] I don't think so.

[00:10:53] I don't remember.

[00:10:53] It's Becky.

[00:10:54] I do.

[00:10:55] I have my son's 22 and my daughter's 20.

[00:10:58] Oh, come on.

[00:10:59] That makes no sense to me.

[00:11:03] Aren't you like 26 now or something?

[00:11:05] Thank you.

[00:11:06] But no.

[00:11:07] Oh, my God.

[00:11:09] See, this is I'm like in a time warp, guys.

[00:11:12] This is.

[00:11:13] This is it's weird shit.

[00:11:15] I'm sure I think he's going through the same thing.

[00:11:17] She's probably sitting there going.

[00:11:18] He looks so fucking old.

[00:11:20] Oh, my God.

[00:11:21] No, actually, you look very much the same.

[00:11:23] It's just gray.

[00:11:24] You look very much the same, though.

[00:11:25] Yeah.

[00:11:25] Great.

[00:11:26] How old were you when we shot?

[00:11:29] 13.

[00:11:31] Yeah.

[00:11:31] 13, 14.

[00:11:32] It was when I was in grade eight.

[00:11:34] So.

[00:11:34] Oh, my God.

[00:11:36] Yeah.

[00:11:37] OK.

[00:11:37] That's really cool.

[00:11:38] All the memories.

[00:11:39] Wow.

[00:11:41] Hey, that's what we hope to do here.

[00:11:42] The books in the 90s.

[00:11:45] Like, I didn't have kids quite yet.

[00:11:46] I didn't have my first kid until the year after we shot this.

[00:11:52] It was a phenomenon.

[00:11:54] So I believe R.L.

[00:11:56] Stein, if I have my numbers right.

[00:11:57] And it was a few years ago.

[00:12:00] He was selling like a million books a month.

[00:12:04] Yeah, it was crazy.

[00:12:06] So it was all over the place.

[00:12:08] It was a true phenomenon.

[00:12:11] So even if you didn't have kids watching and even if you weren't a reader reading it to your kids as an adult, you could not know about it.

[00:12:20] It was everywhere.

[00:12:21] The TV commercials alone.

[00:12:23] Like, it was all over TV.

[00:12:25] That's what I was told.

[00:12:25] Like, Taco Bell did stuff.

[00:12:27] Pizza Hut did stuff.

[00:12:29] Your local supermarket was doing Goosebumps promotion.

[00:12:31] So you couldn't escape.

[00:12:32] We've always said that the TV show was what probably also helped market it into a cultural phenomenon because the books were popular.

[00:12:40] But the show was popular, too.

[00:12:42] And one rolled off the next.

[00:12:44] But just to sell a million kids books a month.

[00:12:48] Yeah, that's crazy.

[00:12:50] No, I was never into the Goosebumps books.

[00:12:51] I love the Fear Street ones.

[00:12:53] So like the teenager ones.

[00:12:54] Those are the ones I was obsessed with.

[00:12:56] It was definitely more like because they were more for the teens for sure.

[00:13:01] Yeah.

[00:13:01] And like Goosebumps was targeted for like seven to 12.

[00:13:05] Yeah.

[00:13:05] So that's middle school in the States.

[00:13:08] That's what seven to 12 middle school age.

[00:13:11] At one point, I think I had close to or just over a hundred Fear Street books.

[00:13:16] But then I was planning on collecting them.

[00:13:19] But then I lived on my own as a teenager and I needed money.

[00:13:23] So I sold my collection.

[00:13:25] Oh, shame.

[00:13:27] Never too late to get them back.

[00:13:30] You lived on your own as a teenager.

[00:13:32] Yeah.

[00:13:33] Yeah, you can be like us.

[00:13:34] What's going on here?

[00:13:35] People are dying.

[00:13:36] People are living on the streets.

[00:13:38] What the hell?

[00:13:39] Well, nobody died until you said it.

[00:13:41] And then you said that they didn't.

[00:13:42] So I'm a little confused.

[00:13:43] But I killed out somebody who had to raise my head.

[00:13:47] Can we start all over again?

[00:13:51] Well, I have a question from another fan.

[00:13:54] So as we said, this episode was based off the second ever book in the original series.

[00:14:00] This was a super early story.

[00:14:02] But I'm curious, when you guys got casted for this episode, and I'm assuming you got a copy of the script.

[00:14:09] I'm sure I would hope so.

[00:14:10] No.

[00:14:10] What did you think of the story initially?

[00:14:13] And did they have you read up on the book or get familiar with it?

[00:14:18] None of that.

[00:14:19] No.

[00:14:20] No, none of that.

[00:14:21] But I think they must have had to treat the adults differently from the kids.

[00:14:26] So I'm going to let Becky answer that.

[00:14:29] Okay.

[00:14:32] I probably must have been given a full script at some point, but I don't remember ever really reading it.

[00:14:37] I was just excited to finally get in an acting gig.

[00:14:41] Like, you know, acting and singing was all I ever wanted to do.

[00:14:45] You know, and I'd already been trying for three or four years by then.

[00:14:48] So I was just like, you know, gung-ho and ready to do it.

[00:14:53] But I do remember, like, when you are filming, you get the sheets, like the sides every day of what you're filming that day.

[00:14:58] And I just loved reading them and, you know, mulling them over my brain and figuring out how I'm going to do it and stuff.

[00:15:04] And then sometimes you get thrown a curveball when you're, you know, the person that's in the scene with you does something different that you're like, oh, okay.

[00:15:11] Now I got to switch my modus there.

[00:15:15] I don't know what she's talking about.

[00:15:20] What was the question?

[00:15:21] What was the question?

[00:15:22] What did you initially think about the story of the episode?

[00:15:26] Like, was it something that came off as interesting to you?

[00:15:30] It was a classic children's horror story.

[00:15:34] Right?

[00:15:35] I thought it was really well written.

[00:15:37] And there was all kinds of twists and turns.

[00:15:40] And, you know, I mean, look, let's be honest.

[00:15:44] We're doing a TV show.

[00:15:45] So television shows have lots of compromises for all kinds of reasons.

[00:15:53] The main thing is you can have a great script, but if it's not produced well, it does make a difference.

[00:15:59] And when I got on set and I saw their sets, because we shot.

[00:16:05] I don't know if you're aware of this.

[00:16:06] So there was a beautiful home that we use for the exteriors in Toronto in a beautiful area called the beach area.

[00:16:16] These old classic larger homes on a beautiful tree lined streets.

[00:16:21] So that's where the exteriors were shot.

[00:16:23] But all the interiors were shot in a studio.

[00:16:26] Yeah.

[00:16:26] Do you remember where the studio was, Becky?

[00:16:29] Do you remember where we were?

[00:16:30] No.

[00:16:31] See, I was drinking and she wasn't always conscious.

[00:16:34] So.

[00:16:34] No, I wasn't.

[00:16:35] I wasn't.

[00:16:37] I'm also very, very, like I have the worst sense of direction ever.

[00:16:40] So.

[00:16:41] But when I got to set and I saw how beautiful those sets were, the details that they went through.

[00:16:48] Because there was no basement.

[00:16:50] That door went nowhere.

[00:16:52] Yeah.

[00:16:55] I do have to say like.

[00:16:56] That door goes nowhere.

[00:16:56] There's then a separate set with the steps going up.

[00:17:00] Yeah.

[00:17:01] And a flat area just to, for me to come in and say, what do I say from the top of the steps?

[00:17:06] Anybody remember?

[00:17:08] Stay out of the basement.

[00:17:09] Stay out of the basement.

[00:17:11] Yeah.

[00:17:13] You can do that better.

[00:17:15] You can do a better job at that.

[00:17:16] Come on.

[00:17:17] Everyone give their best stay out of the basement.

[00:17:19] I do not scream in my house right now.

[00:17:22] So I prefer not.

[00:17:24] Anyway, once I got to set and I saw what a fantastic job they did on those sets, the details.

[00:17:32] I knew that we were going to be doing something special here because that's not always the case.

[00:17:38] Right.

[00:17:40] And Bill Fruitt, the director.

[00:17:42] Fruitt.

[00:17:43] That's it.

[00:17:44] Was a doll.

[00:17:46] He was.

[00:17:46] Yes.

[00:17:47] He was a doll.

[00:17:48] He was sweet and kind.

[00:17:50] He has to be very patient to work with kids all day.

[00:17:55] Kids are not trained professionals.

[00:18:00] So when you.

[00:18:05] Well, this girl was fantastic.

[00:18:09] So Becky was always prepared.

[00:18:13] She was.

[00:18:14] How old did you say you were?

[00:18:15] 14?

[00:18:16] 12, 13.

[00:18:17] 13.

[00:18:17] She was 12, 13 going on like 19.

[00:18:20] Okay.

[00:18:21] So you were.

[00:18:23] I don't know what you remember, but I was very impressed by you and how focused and well

[00:18:29] prepared you were.

[00:18:32] Your brother was a different story because he was what?

[00:18:35] A 10 year old boy, nine or 10.

[00:18:38] Yeah.

[00:18:39] Boy, they can't sit still.

[00:18:40] They can't focus.

[00:18:42] And he was.

[00:18:42] I remember he was all over the place all the time.

[00:18:44] Yeah.

[00:18:46] But Bill Fruitt, the director was like this.

[00:18:49] He was just this calm presence around us all the time.

[00:18:53] And that kept everybody moving forward, feeling like we're in good control.

[00:18:58] Yeah.

[00:18:58] So I was very impressed.

[00:19:01] Once we started shooting and went, wow, this is going to be.

[00:19:05] This has a chance of being really well done.

[00:19:07] And it was.

[00:19:09] It was very good.

[00:19:10] I'm sure we'll get into later.

[00:19:11] Yeah.

[00:19:12] I don't.

[00:19:12] So you went from the drinking Donald Pleasance on set, you know, to full on dad mode.

[00:19:20] And but thankfully you didn't have to because I guess Bill was on that, that kick for kids

[00:19:26] at the time to control.

[00:19:29] What was his name?

[00:19:30] Mark, I think in real life.

[00:19:32] Yeah.

[00:19:33] Yeah.

[00:19:34] Or Blake.

[00:19:34] I can't remember.

[00:19:35] What was that?

[00:19:36] Blake.

[00:19:36] Blake was the brother.

[00:19:38] Yeah.

[00:19:38] Yeah.

[00:19:40] Yeah.

[00:19:40] Blake.

[00:19:41] Yeah.

[00:19:41] Yeah.

[00:19:42] Yeah.

[00:19:43] No, I don't.

[00:19:44] I didn't.

[00:19:44] I didn't have the same experience as Judah obviously did.

[00:19:47] Right.

[00:19:47] So I came in and this was kind of like my first big deal.

[00:19:51] And so to me, it was just amazing and magical.

[00:19:54] And then there were times when it wasn't like, I couldn't wait when I heard, you know,

[00:19:57] when I read in the script that the plants were going to talk and call it like, no, I'm

[00:20:01] your father.

[00:20:01] And now I was like, oh my God, how are they going to do that?

[00:20:03] And it's really not that magical.

[00:20:05] It's just that you can imagine they were just like, there's somebody like crawling down

[00:20:09] and just be like, whoo.

[00:20:10] Exactly.

[00:20:11] Yeah.

[00:20:12] They had to squeeze me into the flowers for that shot.

[00:20:16] I would have killed.

[00:20:18] She doesn't remember.

[00:20:18] She doesn't remember.

[00:20:18] I just put him in a flower.

[00:20:20] I don't remember.

[00:20:21] Like you're like.

[00:20:22] That was just the drinking again.

[00:20:23] On a flower.

[00:20:23] Like they just did a closeup and then it's just your feet on a flower.

[00:20:26] And I remember too, when there was the scene where, you know, the plant, the big vine

[00:20:32] twists and a face starts coming out of it.

[00:20:34] And I was so excited because like, oh my God, it's supposed to look like me or, you know,

[00:20:38] so I was like, they're going to do something with my face.

[00:20:40] No, they just use Catherine Long's thing because they had that from Haunted Mask and it

[00:20:45] was saving them money.

[00:20:47] Yeah.

[00:20:47] What?

[00:20:48] I didn't know that.

[00:20:49] It was like a mold of her face that was already existed.

[00:20:52] So there we go.

[00:20:53] Catherine Long made it into another episode.

[00:20:56] Yeah.

[00:20:56] And I was so like, I mean, I don't even know what the word is because it was like, there's

[00:21:02] no word for it.

[00:21:02] I was not upset.

[00:21:03] I wasn't, but I was just like, I was just bummed.

[00:21:05] I was just bummed that it wasn't going to be my face too.

[00:21:08] That is really funny.

[00:21:11] Nick, when we talk to Catherine again, we have to tell her that just like, did you know you

[00:21:15] were somehow in another episode?

[00:21:19] Yeah.

[00:21:19] But then she's going to be asking this.

[00:21:21] Where's, where was that?

[00:21:23] That is so cool.

[00:21:25] That was such a disturbing scene too, where the face comes out.

[00:21:29] Well, and then you have like the hand that's just kind of like twitching.

[00:21:36] This was my mom's favorite episode.

[00:21:38] And she always used to love how it was just so disturbing for a kid's show.

[00:21:41] She's like, what the fuck was made for seven year olds?

[00:21:44] Like, what the hell?

[00:21:46] Let me ask you guys something.

[00:21:48] Being fans of the show, from what I understand, a lot of the other shows were kind of,

[00:21:53] they had some silliness to them.

[00:21:55] And this one was done pretty straight.

[00:21:57] Is that one of the reasons why this one sticks out from some of the others?

[00:22:01] That it's done, like it's in a sense, serious kids horror?

[00:22:07] There's something about the first season of Goosebumps that was different from what came

[00:22:11] after.

[00:22:12] The first season was played pretty straight.

[00:22:14] It was done.

[00:22:15] There was a little bit of goofiness, but it was mostly played for the horror.

[00:22:19] And a lot of people bring up episodes from the first season because they're the ones that

[00:22:22] gave them nightmares as a kid.

[00:22:24] As the show went on, it started leaning a little more into the goofy side of things.

[00:22:29] Effects were getting a little lower budget.

[00:22:32] So they looked a little more silly.

[00:22:34] There was a lot more comedy thrown in just to kind of like alleviate, but it sort of counteracted

[00:22:40] the horror.

[00:22:41] But the first season and episodes like this, like it's played pretty straight.

[00:22:44] Like I didn't think of any scenarios where like there was a funny moment.

[00:22:48] Like everything was...

[00:22:49] No, not in this episode.

[00:22:51] No, it was very, it was all, it was dramatically done the whole way.

[00:22:55] This episode had none of it.

[00:22:56] Like the, I think they saved all the goofiness for came from beneath the sink, to be honest.

[00:23:00] I think that's the only episode in the season.

[00:23:02] Yeah, that was a goofy one.

[00:23:03] That was like, hey, let's just put it all here.

[00:23:06] And then every other episode, like from this season was just had a much darker tone.

[00:23:10] I mean, season two had a couple episodes that were darker, like Welcome to Dead House is

[00:23:13] probably the one that sticks out.

[00:23:16] But yeah, season two, they definitely played more on the silly, you know.

[00:23:19] So let me ask you guys, because I'm very curious about this.

[00:23:22] The fact that it got a hair lighter in the next season, did that make it easier to take

[00:23:32] as a kid or did it lose some of its appeal?

[00:23:35] A little bit.

[00:23:36] Because sometimes I feel the core of Goosebumps, we always say this, the core of Goosebumps

[00:23:41] is the balance between horror and comedy, because that's just what appeals to that sort of age

[00:23:47] demographic of kids.

[00:23:48] And I feel that's what R.L.

[00:23:50] Stein had in mind when he was writing these books.

[00:23:54] In the second season, it is a little better to take some of the scary stuff when there is

[00:23:58] that little twinge of like comedic relief, because it's sort of like, I don't know how

[00:24:03] to say it.

[00:24:04] It sort of alleviates the horror a little bit.

[00:24:07] It's almost like they have fresh air.

[00:24:09] Makes the scare seem safer.

[00:24:11] Yes.

[00:24:13] But I guess why I'm asking is because from everything I've read, our episode and some

[00:24:21] other ones in this first season are like amongst the most popular.

[00:24:24] They are.

[00:24:25] Correct.

[00:24:26] So that's what I feel definitely.

[00:24:28] A lot of the appeal kind of started to fall off beyond season two, probably.

[00:24:34] Because again, they really went more comedic, less horror.

[00:24:38] And like Isaiah said, the effects went down.

[00:24:41] The production kind of went down a little bit.

[00:24:43] And that's probably due to budget restraints.

[00:24:46] Because it was when we talked to Alan DeSette, he told us this was done on a very shoestring

[00:24:51] budget.

[00:24:52] And Ron Stefanik said the same thing.

[00:24:54] Very shoestring budget.

[00:24:56] But they made do with what they had.

[00:24:57] But as they went on, I noticed they started doing more of the goofier stories.

[00:25:02] Even some of the short stories.

[00:25:04] They went away from Stein's original books from the beginning and went more into the

[00:25:09] later stuff where he did change his style in the books.

[00:25:12] So that makes sense going off of the episodes they chose and the short stories they chose

[00:25:16] that the whole story dynamic would change.

[00:25:19] Because in the beginning, Welcome to Dead House, Stay Out of the Basement, Say Cheese and Die,

[00:25:24] Anyway, those books were darker and more scary.

[00:25:28] That was a good episode.

[00:25:30] Yeah.

[00:25:30] They were way scarier.

[00:25:32] That one.

[00:25:33] I know.

[00:25:34] I knew Ryan back then.

[00:25:35] Yeah.

[00:25:36] Yeah.

[00:25:36] No.

[00:25:37] We wish.

[00:25:37] We're hoping we can get him on someday.

[00:25:39] It's going to be tough, but we're going to get him.

[00:25:41] Yeah.

[00:25:43] Going over to the next question.

[00:25:45] Fan podcasts.

[00:25:46] Because, you know, we were talking about like how scary this episode is.

[00:25:50] And I feel a lot of that comes down also to the performances, especially by you,

[00:25:54] Judah, because you play a very domineering and intimidating character in Dr. Brewer,

[00:26:00] especially for the content.

[00:26:01] I was trying to be funny.

[00:26:03] Well, it was pretty good.

[00:26:06] I thought there was going to be a laugh track and all kinds of stuff.

[00:26:10] When you're doing the phone scene and she's out of the basement.

[00:26:15] That's what I thought.

[00:26:17] Goosebumps was filmed in front of a live studio.

[00:26:19] Beautiful.

[00:26:22] All right.

[00:26:24] Honestly, the scenes that really stood out the most, like even just the scene where Margaret

[00:26:28] jumps back into bed and you're just standing there staring at her at the foot of her bed,

[00:26:33] just like.

[00:26:34] Yeah.

[00:26:34] I'm like, come on, man.

[00:26:35] Like that was just that was so many.

[00:26:37] I'll be honest with you as an actor.

[00:26:40] Those moments.

[00:26:44] Like when I come into the room and she's hiding.

[00:26:48] To everything we do is for the audience, right?

[00:26:53] Of course.

[00:26:53] So when I come in.

[00:26:56] And I just wait.

[00:26:58] The audience doesn't know what's going to happen next.

[00:27:01] Yeah.

[00:27:02] So you, you learn as a, as an actor to sort of milk these moments and build up the tension.

[00:27:09] What's going to happen.

[00:27:11] I love that scene.

[00:27:13] It was such a simple little scene, but.

[00:27:15] Okay.

[00:27:16] You know,

[00:27:16] ideas to not know what is he going to do and just wait, just those extra little beats of

[00:27:23] just.

[00:27:26] You know, what's funny about that scene though?

[00:27:30] That is my least favorite scene.

[00:27:32] Not because of you, Judah and any shape or form.

[00:27:34] It's because when I ran back to the bed and I'm pretending to be asleep, Bill told me to

[00:27:41] like squeeze my eyes tight.

[00:27:43] And I was like, but then I don't look like I'm sleeping.

[00:27:46] I was so conflicted because I was like, it's not going to look real, but he's like, I don't

[00:27:50] know, just squeeze your eyes really tight.

[00:27:52] And so even now, I mean, I haven't watched the episode in years, but I remember watching

[00:27:56] it years ago and just going like, Oh God, I shouldn't have speak my eyes.

[00:28:01] Her and Bill had notorious, huge fights.

[00:28:04] Oh, all the time.

[00:28:06] Huge, like yelling and screaming.

[00:28:10] And she swore like a, like a, like a, 12, she was 12 years old.

[00:28:19] Wow.

[00:28:19] Maybe, maybe this is why I didn't make it in the business.

[00:28:22] Maybe Bill was telling everybody how awful I was.

[00:28:24] I don't know.

[00:28:24] It was like a blacklist thing.

[00:28:26] He was drinking on set.

[00:28:31] He was like, Oh God.

[00:28:32] He was like, Oh God.

[00:28:32] He was like, Oh God.

[00:28:32] He was like, Oh God.

[00:28:32] He was like, Oh God.

[00:28:35] And I got to bring up.

[00:28:36] We would all like just back up and just.

[00:28:40] Well, I got to bring up that the scene where, uh, Margaret's on the phone with her mom.

[00:28:45] She's just being like, you know, love that.

[00:28:47] And then you come and just take it and you're like, love it.

[00:28:50] Whoa.

[00:28:51] It's classic horror.

[00:28:53] It's classic.

[00:28:54] It's been done 142,000 times in horror movies.

[00:28:58] Right.

[00:28:59] What I loved about that was, uh, well, first of all, uh, Becky was fantastic.

[00:29:04] Just her, the look on her face because Becky, were you in every single scene in the episode?

[00:29:11] Just about, I think.

[00:29:13] So she had to carry the show.

[00:29:15] If you don't believe what she's doing, if you don't believe that she loves her dad, she

[00:29:23] loves her home yet.

[00:29:26] She's confused and starting to get terrified.

[00:29:31] If you don't believe that you don't have a show.

[00:29:34] Exactly.

[00:29:35] Right.

[00:29:35] So it's all on, on her and, uh, the brother goes for the ride because she's the big sister.

[00:29:43] Right.

[00:29:44] Yeah.

[00:29:44] Uh, but that, that particular scene, I remember loving the, the chance to, in a sense, I'm playing

[00:29:55] two characters at once.

[00:29:58] Mm-hmm.

[00:29:59] So one is the voice, which is talking to mom in a, in, in, in, in, in, in as natural

[00:30:08] and as calm a way as possible.

[00:30:11] Yeah.

[00:30:11] Giving her the look of you're in big trouble, missy.

[00:30:16] And the look on her face.

[00:30:18] It was just, it was so much fun to shoot.

[00:30:21] It was so good.

[00:30:21] I don't think you guys have any idea when we announced that we were doing this interview,

[00:30:25] I have to give a shout out to the Goosebumps crew audience because they were like, that

[00:30:29] scene in particular, it was like, that gave me nightmares as a kid.

[00:30:34] Aw.

[00:30:36] Because, well, and it's, it taps into a lot of fears that kids have when your parents

[00:30:40] are like mad at you like that.

[00:30:42] You're essentially, you're shitting bricks.

[00:30:44] Like, I'm just going to be honest.

[00:30:46] Like, when you're, when your dad or your mom are looking at you like that, like, it's

[00:30:50] time to go hide in the panic room because.

[00:30:54] It's just that one little line, even like when you ask him, I hope Aunt Eleanor is feeling

[00:30:59] better and you just, Judy, you just kind of turn back and then he's walking and it's

[00:31:04] like.

[00:31:05] Oh, yes.

[00:31:06] It just, sometimes you just need to look and just hold the moment.

[00:31:10] And the audience starts filling stuff in, right?

[00:31:14] That's why less is all in the head of the audience.

[00:31:17] That's why less is so often so much more, right?

[00:31:20] It's like a fascinating genre.

[00:31:22] Well, I'm like, like, so even with my writing now, I've written a couple of screenplays

[00:31:25] and actually where I get most of my, um, what's the word I'm looking for?

[00:31:30] Positive feedback.

[00:31:31] And like, people are impressed if you want to call it, not that I'm trying to like toot

[00:31:35] my own horn here, but it is the dialogue because I don't know.

[00:31:39] It just, I, I, it's very natural to me to write dialogue that is natural and it's much

[00:31:44] less is more.

[00:31:45] I don't go into big, long speeches and stuff.

[00:31:47] And I think a lot of writers do struggle with that.

[00:31:50] And a lot of actors too, I think they want to sometimes, you know, oh, I feel like I should

[00:31:54] talk more there, or I feel like I should, you know, explain something more.

[00:31:58] And it's just sometimes, no, don't do that.

[00:32:00] You just, you got to let the audience, audiences aren't stupid.

[00:32:03] There are people that take a little longer to find their way sometimes, but overall audiences

[00:32:09] aren't stupid.

[00:32:11] You know, you don't need to pan on the knife before you get into the scene where that person's

[00:32:15] going to die by the knife for them to know they're going to die.

[00:32:17] You know, you don't have to keep it that obvious and not detailed.

[00:32:21] You can keep it suspenseful just like Duda was saying.

[00:32:24] Right.

[00:32:24] And yes, your look was terrifying.

[00:32:27] It was awesome.

[00:32:28] And I, and I got to give shout out less is more exactly how much fun it was doing that

[00:32:35] scene.

[00:32:35] The whole thing is that you don't even know that there's like things about plant clones

[00:32:40] or anything like that until the very end up to that point.

[00:32:43] Like you just have, you obviously have the behavior, the dad changing in such a way that's creepy.

[00:32:48] And then you have the one scene where, uh, and I do want to ask about the effects of this

[00:32:54] episode in a minute, but I just have to quickly mention the scene.

[00:32:57] In the bathroom with the green blood and the plant hair.

[00:33:01] And you're just like, what's going on?

[00:33:04] Like it's just like eyes in a millisecond.

[00:33:10] Um, and that's just, that's just how great.

[00:33:13] Did it scare the crap out of you?

[00:33:14] That shot?

[00:33:15] No, I didn't like scare the crap.

[00:33:19] Yes.

[00:33:20] Exactly.

[00:33:22] The same.

[00:33:25] I do want to come back to that.

[00:33:27] So first, uh, we, we talked about him a little bit already, but I have to ask about your

[00:33:31] co-star, uh, Blake McGrath who played Casey, the brother, uh, in this episode.

[00:33:35] So we already mentioned that he was, you know, a typical 10 year old boy on set.

[00:33:41] Ratty boy.

[00:33:42] Uh, was he, was he difficult to act alongside with or just what was he like?

[00:33:47] Um, personally, I'm, I'm not going to lie.

[00:33:50] I found him supremely annoying.

[00:33:51] He was the annoying little brother in reality, just like he was in the show.

[00:33:55] I was just, you know, and I, and it's probably the age difference as well.

[00:34:00] Um, um, but I just felt like, oh, he's not taking this seriously.

[00:34:04] You know, he's not, he's not ready to like, you know, I was just so determined to prove

[00:34:10] that I belonged there and that I, I deserve to be there.

[00:34:13] And I wanted to be there.

[00:34:15] 12 going on 19.

[00:34:17] And he's like, like nine going on like, you know, four.

[00:34:22] And I don't want to disparage Blake at all.

[00:34:25] I don't want to disparage Blake or speak ill of him in any shape or form.

[00:34:28] We were kids.

[00:34:28] So, you know, um, we reconnected very, very briefly a few years ago cause I put a couple

[00:34:34] of pictures from goosebumps on social media and I tagged him.

[00:34:37] And then, so he found, he saw it and was like, oh my God, how are you?

[00:34:41] And we chatted for like one conversation and he told me, you know, he's a successful, um,

[00:34:48] choreographer.

[00:34:49] He's toured with Britney Spears and all the likes and stuff.

[00:34:52] So it's fantastic.

[00:34:54] Um, and I believe he's a singer as well and puts music out and stuff like that.

[00:34:58] Um, I tried to keep it going, but he's just a really busy guy.

[00:35:02] He's got a lot going on.

[00:35:03] So, um, so he's a very lovely person now from the very few interactions, little interactions

[00:35:08] I've had, but yes, back then I was just like, oh my God, this kid is so annoying.

[00:35:15] Expecting an album from you two now.

[00:35:18] Cause I know you do sing too.

[00:35:20] Another sister album to come out later.

[00:35:24] For Bjorn, it can be called goose bumping.

[00:35:27] Well, and you know what?

[00:35:29] It's so funny because, you know, you, Becky, you're, you're acting like really like is genuine.

[00:35:38] And then Blake, no disrespect to him, but he's doing the thing that a lot of goosebumps child

[00:35:44] actors did where a lot of their lines were like whining essentially.

[00:35:49] Like, it was just kind of like Margaret, I don't want to go on the base.

[00:35:54] Right.

[00:35:54] It was so annoying.

[00:35:57] All we wanted to do was go outside and play.

[00:36:00] And he's like, uh, don't answer it.

[00:36:02] And you're like, why?

[00:36:02] He's like, I don't know.

[00:36:05] Those weren't even lines in the script.

[00:36:07] That's all ad lib straight up 10 year old.

[00:36:10] Like he just said, he wasn't even written in the show.

[00:36:13] He just came on set and he wouldn't give the whiny kid a couple of lines.

[00:36:18] No, I'm just kidding.

[00:36:21] Well, if we were going to go off the original book, apparently there's, uh, in the book,

[00:36:24] there's actually another, I don't know if it's their friend or something.

[00:36:27] I haven't, it's been a while since I read the book, but they have like another kid.

[00:36:31] So like, it's possible you could have had two annoying brat boys.

[00:36:35] Oh God.

[00:36:38] I do have to say it was different though.

[00:36:40] Thank you for a shoestring budget.

[00:36:43] But it was, it was a nice difference though.

[00:36:46] Cause I have an old.

[00:36:48] Where are you going?

[00:36:49] I'm just turning the oven on.

[00:36:51] Are we supposed to be moving around?

[00:36:53] Should I be moving?

[00:36:54] No, but I am.

[00:36:55] Hang on.

[00:36:56] We'll move.

[00:36:57] Okay.

[00:36:57] Hang on.

[00:36:58] He's going to move.

[00:36:59] I got to move.

[00:37:07] We're on rough waters, folks.

[00:37:09] Let me know when you're back.

[00:37:10] Don't adjust your sets.

[00:37:13] Well, uh, I do.

[00:37:15] I think it's time to get to some of the fun questions.

[00:37:18] Uh, yeah, enough of this serious talk.

[00:37:20] Okay.

[00:37:21] Pertaining to the effects.

[00:37:22] Cause this, again, this is one of the grossest episodes of the, the TV series.

[00:37:27] Um, first off, what exactly?

[00:37:30] Did you eat Judah that was supposed to be planned food?

[00:37:33] What was that?

[00:37:35] So this is, this is look.

[00:37:38] So did we, what was the math?

[00:37:40] It was at 30 years ago.

[00:37:41] We shot.

[00:37:42] Yeah.

[00:37:42] Almost.

[00:37:42] Yeah.

[00:37:42] So I've been in over a hundred productions, television and film.

[00:37:49] This is the only production I still get fan mail from to this day.

[00:37:55] And they asked me all kinds of questions.

[00:37:59] And one of the, one of the regular questions is what did you eat?

[00:38:05] What was that stuff?

[00:38:06] Because it was green, dry, look like plant food.

[00:38:11] Like what, why did they do that?

[00:38:13] So what do you guys think?

[00:38:16] I would think it's maybe like some kind of powder or like something like that.

[00:38:20] Like it, it couldn't have been actual plant food.

[00:38:23] It was pistachios or like, I don't grind it up or something.

[00:38:28] It had to be something green.

[00:38:29] It had to be something green.

[00:38:32] They could have just put food color on it though.

[00:38:33] It didn't have to start out green.

[00:38:35] Okay.

[00:38:35] So you guys are going in the right direction.

[00:38:37] Believe it or not.

[00:38:39] It is broccoli put into a blender and just round up really, really small.

[00:38:54] And I actually don't mind raw broccoli.

[00:38:56] So it wasn't so bad.

[00:38:59] At least it was edible.

[00:39:01] It was edible.

[00:39:02] I don't like it though.

[00:39:02] Can you imagine having cake off the cake?

[00:39:05] Sorry?

[00:39:05] Like the breakfast you tried to make me eat, Dad.

[00:39:08] That is the other question people had.

[00:39:10] What is that supposed to be?

[00:39:11] Honestly, even more so than the plant food.

[00:39:14] What is that?

[00:39:16] Do you remember, Becky?

[00:39:18] I think I remember.

[00:39:19] I remember it was like, I think it was some sort of porridge with spinach in it or something

[00:39:22] like that.

[00:39:23] And food coloring.

[00:39:24] It was so gross.

[00:39:25] It was spinach with pork.

[00:39:27] It had the consistency of oatmeal.

[00:39:27] But then like when I don't know which one of you did it, but like there's a scene of

[00:39:31] one of you like up with the spoon.

[00:39:32] Yeah.

[00:39:33] And it's stringy.

[00:39:34] Yeah.

[00:39:36] It was pretty gross.

[00:39:37] I can't even stand the smell of it.

[00:39:39] They wanted it as gross as possible.

[00:39:41] I seem to remember that.

[00:39:42] Like, so they played with it until Bill was just happy and then literally it would make

[00:39:48] a noise.

[00:39:49] Oh, it was so gross.

[00:39:51] Yeah.

[00:39:52] Cause I don't, I don't even eat porridge on my own.

[00:39:54] Like I'm not an oatmeal or porridge person.

[00:39:56] I don't like that kind of consistency.

[00:39:58] So like the reality of me going like, ew, that was pretty real.

[00:40:04] Cause it smelled awful as well.

[00:40:06] Not to mention the fact that just looked green and had spinach in it.

[00:40:11] Like, yeah.

[00:40:12] Yeah.

[00:40:13] I'd be remiss to find one person in the world that was like, Ooh, yum.

[00:40:18] Yeah.

[00:40:20] And then, and then as we mentioned, there's the scene in the bathroom where Margaret finds

[00:40:25] her dad bleeding green and then growing like leaves out of his head.

[00:40:31] I'm curious, Judah, do you remember how they accomplish those effects?

[00:40:36] Well, now that you bring it up, that's how I got the part.

[00:40:38] Cause I happened to have green blood.

[00:40:40] So that helped.

[00:40:42] So they just, they just cut you open and let it roll.

[00:40:45] And Tate, when she was still alive, she asked me like, what is the color of your blood?

[00:40:50] I went, I think it's green.

[00:40:53] She said, I got to call the producers right now.

[00:40:56] So have I got the part for you?

[00:40:59] I do remember that that was the one area that I noticed that the budget was like crazy tight.

[00:41:07] Yeah.

[00:41:08] It was the special effects, the makeup special effects.

[00:41:12] Yeah.

[00:41:12] Um, it was a couple of young guys under with like no money and no time having to come up

[00:41:22] with all this stuff.

[00:41:23] Um, you know, I've been on big, huge Hollywood productions and they're hiring seasoned pros

[00:41:29] that know exactly what they're doing.

[00:41:31] Cause they've done it a hundred times.

[00:41:33] And these poor kids, they were told to make green blood.

[00:41:38] So how did we do it?

[00:41:39] Um, okay.

[00:41:41] From what I remember, there's makeup on my arm with a tube going down my shirt to a little

[00:41:54] pump behind me.

[00:41:55] And literally there's a guy behind me hitting a pump and it starts the, the green blood coming

[00:42:02] out.

[00:42:03] Yeah.

[00:42:03] And you can't see it because they put like a, like a patch on my arm.

[00:42:07] Yeah.

[00:42:08] That's a skin color.

[00:42:11] But there's a reason why it's shot like very quickly and very dark.

[00:42:16] And cause it didn't look great.

[00:42:19] And even the, the leaves in my hair and everything, the poor guys, they just couldn't get it right.

[00:42:26] And at one point I seem to remember Bill said, let's just shoot.

[00:42:28] Let's see what we got.

[00:42:29] And he just made sure that they shot it in such a way that you can't quite tell.

[00:42:35] It gives the idea.

[00:42:37] Yeah.

[00:42:37] Those poor guys, they, they were, they were, they're being in their pants quite often.

[00:42:41] You could, you could say going back to what we talked about less is more, you could say

[00:42:46] that kind of helped the horror of is that you can't get a really good look at what exactly.

[00:42:52] Again, so much of this is in the, in the mind of the viewer, right?

[00:42:57] So that's what, like you gotta sell.

[00:43:03] If you, if you go to theater, so much stuff happens off stage.

[00:43:09] Yeah.

[00:43:10] And cause the audience just fills it in.

[00:43:13] Right.

[00:43:13] Right.

[00:43:14] So they use these tricks in, on film and in television shows all the time.

[00:43:20] Uh, and they get away with it.

[00:43:23] Yeah.

[00:43:23] It worked much better than what it felt like on set.

[00:43:26] It just, I went, Oh my God, this is.

[00:43:28] Well, our imaginations are so much more capable of scaring us better than what is in front

[00:43:34] of us.

[00:43:35] Right.

[00:43:35] Like I remember when I watched it, the, um, I think it was made in the eighties or nineties

[00:43:39] with Jonathan Brandes, um, the first two hours or whatever it was, I was actually like bothered

[00:43:47] by it.

[00:43:47] I don't, I don't get scared easily.

[00:43:49] I don't get scared watching horror movies and stuff.

[00:43:51] Um, but I was actually like perturbed.

[00:43:54] I was like, Oh wow, this is actually kind of creepy.

[00:43:56] Like what's going to happen.

[00:43:57] And then when I saw the ending, I was like, well, that just ruined the movie.

[00:44:00] Yeah.

[00:44:01] That's what a lot of people say about that movie.

[00:44:04] Yeah.

[00:44:04] You know?

[00:44:04] And then, and I found that's happened a lot, like Jeepers creepers.

[00:44:08] Like, you know, my husband likes movies and so does my daughter.

[00:44:11] So we've watched them and I'm always like, okay, I'll keep my mouth shut.

[00:44:14] I won't say anything about how bad it is.

[00:44:16] I promise.

[00:44:18] And I just, and I sit there and I, but by the end of it, I'm just like, Oh man, it was

[00:44:22] so much scarier in my head.

[00:44:25] That's how it is.

[00:44:26] You mentioned Jonathan Brandes.

[00:44:28] Another one.

[00:44:29] I know.

[00:44:30] I had such a huge crush on him when I was a kid.

[00:44:33] Yeah.

[00:44:34] Oh yes.

[00:44:34] Uh, one of my best friends that lives down in Melbourne, she had like all the

[00:44:41] all over her wall.

[00:44:43] Jonathan.

[00:44:44] Yeah.

[00:44:45] Yeah.

[00:44:46] So yeah, it's really sad.

[00:44:48] That was the nineties teenage thing.

[00:44:50] Uh, I don't see teenagers today doing anything like that though.

[00:44:53] The rooms aren't decorated and like, well, back then it was Jonathan Brandes.

[00:44:57] Um, for long, of course.

[00:45:02] Yeah.

[00:45:03] You had all that.

[00:45:04] Backstreet Boys.

[00:45:06] Oh no.

[00:45:06] And my name is new kids on the block.

[00:45:08] That's how old I am.

[00:45:09] New kids on the block.

[00:45:10] Yeah.

[00:45:11] Or NSYNC.

[00:45:12] That sort of thing.

[00:45:13] Yeah.

[00:45:14] Um, another gross out scene I have to bring up is, uh, involving you, Becky.

[00:45:18] Cause you and Blake got to bear witness to a literal bed of worms.

[00:45:23] Yeah.

[00:45:24] That scene was so fun.

[00:45:25] We talked before with the, uh, with the prop master about, uh, you know, the effects

[00:45:30] of worms in the Goosebumps TV show.

[00:45:32] And this was definitely one of the biggest ones.

[00:45:34] What was, what did you think about that?

[00:45:36] I thought it was so cool.

[00:45:38] I just, I just, I loved it.

[00:45:39] Um, I was actually, I remember being kind of mildly disappointed that it wasn't as many

[00:45:45] worms as I'd hoped because they used, they didn't need to make it all worms, right?

[00:45:49] There was a lot of fake ones.

[00:45:50] And then just the real ones moving would make you make your eyes believe or tell your brain

[00:45:54] that they're all alive worms.

[00:45:56] Right.

[00:45:57] Um, but, and I'm not a fan.

[00:45:59] I don't like, I was not the kind of girl that would go out and pick up worms and be like,

[00:46:02] you're my friend or like, you know, um, but I just thought, I just thought it was really

[00:46:07] cool.

[00:46:07] It was really well done.

[00:46:08] And I, you know, seeing that kind of like, Oh, that's how they do it.

[00:46:12] You know?

[00:46:12] Um, and then hiding under the bed and having it fall in front of me.

[00:46:16] That was, it was, it was a fun scene.

[00:46:18] I just, yeah.

[00:46:19] Yeah.

[00:46:20] Like, again, a professional.

[00:46:23] Yeah.

[00:46:25] Yeah.

[00:46:26] That's, I was just about to bring that up that they had a worm wrangler on set.

[00:46:32] That's crazy.

[00:46:33] That is crazy.

[00:46:34] I don't remember that.

[00:46:36] They had a person that apparently went out and literally found as many worms as possible

[00:46:41] and then brought them to set.

[00:46:43] Uh, but I don't, I think they had a rule that they couldn't kill any of them.

[00:46:47] So they had to release them back out.

[00:46:49] Uh, when they were done with them.

[00:46:51] Cool.

[00:46:51] I think they said they only lost a couple.

[00:46:53] So they did pretty good.

[00:46:55] I seem to remember a few getting trampled on when Becky and Bill had one of their fights

[00:47:01] in that.

[00:47:03] I think I threw one at his face at one point.

[00:47:06] Yeah.

[00:47:06] Oh my God.

[00:47:07] You can hear them screaming.

[00:47:08] Oh, it was very upsetting.

[00:47:11] Rip.

[00:47:12] Those worms.

[00:47:14] Yeah.

[00:47:16] Um, I'm curious.

[00:47:17] So this episode was pretty special.

[00:47:19] It was a two part episode and a lot of Goosebumps two part episodes had an introduction by RL Stein,

[00:47:24] but this one did not.

[00:47:26] Uh, it was, it was effectively just kind of two episodes stitched together.

[00:47:29] Um, but did RL Stein ever visit set?

[00:47:32] Did you, did he ever like give his blessing or no, he didn't.

[00:47:36] I was so sad that I didn't meet him.

[00:47:38] I was just so hoping I could, but no, I didn't get to.

[00:47:41] Yeah.

[00:47:41] I'll share my one RL Stein story.

[00:47:45] Um, I can't remember at what point, but we were all asked to sign the script and it was

[00:47:53] sent to him.

[00:47:54] Oh, cool.

[00:47:56] Yeah.

[00:47:57] And to this day, I haven't signed anything to do with Goosebumps.

[00:48:01] So that's the only signature of mine is on that script that he has.

[00:48:07] It makes it even more valuable.

[00:48:09] I don't really know if he has it.

[00:48:11] See, the funny thing is there was a lot of Goosebumps scripts that showed up online.

[00:48:15] Not too long ago through an auction.

[00:48:17] Um, I don't know if stay out of the basement was one of them though.

[00:48:21] That's the thing.

[00:48:22] Well, what he does with them or what somebody else did with them over time, who knows?

[00:48:26] Yeah.

[00:48:27] Who knows?

[00:48:28] But, uh, yeah, this is what we were asked.

[00:48:30] Supposedly every episode, the, the cat, maybe some of the crew would, would, would sign

[00:48:37] it and send it to him.

[00:48:38] And wow.

[00:48:40] This is what he asked.

[00:48:40] I ended up with a couple of scripts.

[00:48:42] Um, I got neither living dummy three and Nick got the haunted mask and the haunted

[00:48:48] mask too.

[00:48:49] Oh, I got zilch.

[00:48:52] I don't have one either.

[00:48:54] So I got, I got a rock.

[00:48:57] You got the Charlie Brown moment.

[00:49:02] Um, so I have to ask a lot of people are, uh, it's like one of the things of like, did

[00:49:08] the, did the top fall over in inception or like that sort of thing?

[00:49:12] People always ask, do you think that the dad at the end is actually the real dad or do you

[00:49:18] think it's another clone?

[00:49:20] Oh, well, I know, I mean, Becky, you saw that there's a bunch of flowers in the garden that

[00:49:28] are apparently talking.

[00:49:30] Yeah.

[00:49:31] Yeah.

[00:49:31] Um, do you want like my child virgin answer or do you want my adult answer?

[00:49:38] Oh, that would be good.

[00:49:39] I think as a child, I was very like, I actually, I was even hopeful that like, Oh, maybe there'll

[00:49:44] be more, but I thought, I thought like, Oh, cool.

[00:49:48] So yeah.

[00:49:48] And my dad's not my dad yet.

[00:49:50] So that's really cool.

[00:49:52] I didn't think that in the script.

[00:49:54] Um, now as an adult and, and, you know, understanding writing and how audiences and

[00:49:59] relationships with audience work, it was obviously just, it was just to leave it open-ended and

[00:50:03] make you make of it what you want, right.

[00:50:05] With your own imagination, which is, um, not an easy thing to do, but our Alstein

[00:50:09] was very good at it.

[00:50:11] Oh, definitely.

[00:50:12] I think that that last moment was a little fun, winky, cheesy moment.

[00:50:21] If there's going to be some kind of humor in our episode, I think it's there at the

[00:50:26] end.

[00:50:26] Yeah.

[00:50:26] Also like some of them, like eventually they stopped sounding like her father and then

[00:50:31] they just start having like, no, I'm your father.

[00:50:33] No, I'm your father.

[00:50:34] Like that's, it's like, Oh, okay.

[00:50:36] That's funny.

[00:50:37] Yeah.

[00:50:37] Um, see when we talked about the ending to this episode before, and we thought, uh,

[00:50:42] what things would we want to change in certain episodes or what have you, I always thought

[00:50:47] it would have been neat instead of the flowers being the dad's voice because Margaret's blood

[00:50:51] ended up almost creating a clone at the time that that clone actually made it out.

[00:50:56] And then it actually puts her hand on the real Margaret's shoulder.

[00:51:00] And then she turns around and sees herself and then it ends.

[00:51:02] Oh, that would have been cool.

[00:51:04] Like that's more like the horror ending, uh, as opposed to like the, you know, the goofy

[00:51:08] funny one.

[00:51:09] Yeah.

[00:51:09] Um, would have been neat.

[00:51:10] I mean, that's the whole thing.

[00:51:11] It's like, she cuts her hand on a, on like something at the beginning where she, no,

[00:51:15] she pricks her finger on a thorn.

[00:51:17] Um, and you'd see the hand and the face and it's like, you feel like that might be building

[00:51:21] up to something, but you know, it could have even been more subtle.

[00:51:25] Like at the end you walk off and I don't know, uh, Judah, your character says, Oh, I

[00:51:31] think your nose is bleeding and you kind of do this.

[00:51:32] And it's just like a bit of green.

[00:51:34] Green.

[00:51:34] Yeah.

[00:51:35] Yeah.

[00:51:35] It's something very subtle.

[00:51:37] Like it could have been anything like that would have been really cool.

[00:51:40] Yeah.

[00:51:40] Well, that's the way they dealt with it.

[00:51:42] It's still a fun way to finish.

[00:51:43] Right.

[00:51:44] Yeah.

[00:51:45] Yeah.

[00:51:45] Look, we're talking about the episode 30 years later.

[00:51:48] Who's doing that?

[00:51:50] It's a 19 going on 30 years.

[00:51:53] Yeah.

[00:51:57] Um, so you want a little bit of trivia?

[00:52:00] You want some trivia?

[00:52:01] Oh yeah.

[00:52:01] I got a couple of things, a little tiny.

[00:52:07] The shot where mom, where you have Becky, where you have the phone call and mom with

[00:52:12] mom, she's in the hospital.

[00:52:14] Yeah.

[00:52:16] The guy sitting on the bench behind her, there's a big guy sitting on the bench

[00:52:21] behind her.

[00:52:22] That's a little wink to the crew.

[00:52:26] So that guy, as far as I remember was.

[00:52:32] Our director of photographer, director of photography, Brian Head.

[00:52:38] Really?

[00:52:39] They had him sit there just for that shot.

[00:52:41] That's right.

[00:52:42] Are you sure?

[00:52:43] Because you did say that auntie died.

[00:52:45] So I don't know.

[00:52:45] And you were drinking a lot.

[00:52:47] So yeah, it might not be him.

[00:52:49] Okay.

[00:52:50] Forget it.

[00:52:53] And Dr.

[00:52:54] Merrick, my connection with the actor, his name is Rant Alianak, is he directed me in the

[00:53:03] very last stage show I ever did?

[00:53:07] Oh, really?

[00:53:08] Rant, I know, was a director.

[00:53:10] So when he showed up as an actor, I went, I didn't even know he acted.

[00:53:14] What are you doing here?

[00:53:15] That was kind of funny.

[00:53:16] That's really funny.

[00:53:17] Oh, that's great.

[00:53:19] Thanks for sharing that.

[00:53:20] Small world.

[00:53:20] Small world.

[00:53:22] That's all I get.

[00:53:23] I can make up other shit if you want.

[00:53:26] Well, I...

[00:53:28] It's all for the good content, so do it.

[00:53:30] Yeah.

[00:53:31] Well, actually, I have a...

[00:53:32] Okay, the guy sitting next to the guy on the bench.

[00:53:41] That's Ann Tate's sister.

[00:53:44] The casting person.

[00:53:46] And then the person next to him was Ann Tate's cousin.

[00:53:51] Oh, my God.

[00:53:53] I'm gonna cry.

[00:53:55] I actually have some...

[00:53:56] There were some goofier questions that were submitted by our fans.

[00:54:00] The first one is, what's your favorite vegetable?

[00:54:05] Oh, fuck.

[00:54:06] That's hard.

[00:54:06] Oh, sorry.

[00:54:07] That's hard.

[00:54:08] Oh, you're good.

[00:54:10] Oh, man.

[00:54:11] There's so many good vegetables.

[00:54:12] I really like Brussels sprouts.

[00:54:14] Really?

[00:54:15] Yeah.

[00:54:16] I love Brussels sprouts.

[00:54:18] Dang.

[00:54:19] Yeah.

[00:54:20] I'll go for...

[00:54:21] Brussels sprouts are better than American Brussels sprouts.

[00:54:25] Would you go for...

[00:54:26] Brussels sprouts are good.

[00:54:27] They're very tasty.

[00:54:29] I just think about the last line that Judah has in the episode is like,

[00:54:34] you know, like, who's up for some garden vegetables?

[00:54:37] And they're like, oh.

[00:54:38] Yeah.

[00:54:39] Hamburgers.

[00:54:40] Hamburgers, actually.

[00:54:41] Yeah.

[00:54:42] Oh, that's actually a funny story.

[00:54:44] So those poor guys had to do my bald cap.

[00:54:48] Really?

[00:54:49] And again, they were struggling.

[00:54:51] Judah refused to shave his head.

[00:54:53] It was just...

[00:54:53] Yeah.

[00:54:54] It was a big fight.

[00:54:55] That wasn't gonna happen.

[00:54:56] And Becky fought for me.

[00:54:59] How does it just wait until you passed out?

[00:55:02] So if you look carefully, you can see I can hardly move my neck.

[00:55:06] Yeah.

[00:55:07] Have you noticed that?

[00:55:08] It's because they did it in such a way that if I turned,

[00:55:11] the whole thing would start to sort of slip around.

[00:55:14] Right?

[00:55:15] Yeah.

[00:55:16] I do notice that you're...

[00:55:17] When you're talking...

[00:55:18] How to do the Batman news.

[00:55:19] ...explaining everything, you're talking almost like this.

[00:55:21] Yeah.

[00:55:22] The poor guys.

[00:55:23] I've worn other bald caps before.

[00:55:27] That was the only...

[00:55:27] Those poor guys.

[00:55:29] They just didn't have the time.

[00:55:31] Well, look at you.

[00:55:32] You've got beautiful hair still.

[00:55:33] That's amazing.

[00:55:34] Yeah.

[00:55:35] Oh, no.

[00:55:35] There's a wig.

[00:55:37] You just take it off.

[00:55:38] No, you take it off.

[00:55:39] I got five of them in the middle.

[00:55:41] Yeah.

[00:55:42] When the side effects finish, then your hair grew back, like you said.

[00:55:47] See?

[00:55:47] I'm actually not true.

[00:55:48] I know an actor who travels from show to show, television actor,

[00:55:55] with a briefcase of different wigs because he's bald.

[00:56:00] So he has...

[00:56:01] And he has, like, bad guy-looking stuff,

[00:56:04] nice guy-looking hair and goofy hair and slick hair.

[00:56:10] And it's kind of fascinating.

[00:56:12] I mean, hey.

[00:56:12] It's true.

[00:56:13] It's true.

[00:56:14] It's true.

[00:56:15] It's true.

[00:56:16] Oh, wow.

[00:56:18] Another episode...

[00:56:19] Not curious about this.

[00:56:20] ...episode question is, was there any place that you were told to stay out of as a kid?

[00:56:28] You know, stay out of the basement?

[00:56:29] You know, is there any...

[00:56:31] I was not allowed in my parents' bedroom.

[00:56:34] Like, ever.

[00:56:36] It was like...

[00:56:37] Why is that, Becky?

[00:56:38] Why?

[00:56:39] I don't know.

[00:56:40] I honestly don't know.

[00:56:42] I don't know.

[00:56:43] None of us were allowed in our parents' bedroom.

[00:56:44] No.

[00:56:45] And, like, so I'm talking, like, even if I did have a nightmare,

[00:56:48] which rarely, rarely ever happened as a young child,

[00:56:51] but if I did have a nightmare bad enough where I wanted my mom or my dad near me,

[00:56:56] it was always my mom,

[00:56:56] but if I had to knock on the door,

[00:57:00] and I think maybe less than a handful of times,

[00:57:03] my mom would let me in with her, like, on her side of the bed

[00:57:06] for, like, maybe a few minutes,

[00:57:08] and then she'd be like, okay, we got to go back to your room now.

[00:57:10] Like, it was just...

[00:57:11] Yeah, it was just that was their safe haven,

[00:57:13] and I'm not going to lie,

[00:57:14] I did the same thing with my kids.

[00:57:15] And I wasn't like, you're not allowed,

[00:57:17] but it was just like, this is my room.

[00:57:19] Respect that this is my space,

[00:57:20] and so you can only come in with knocking and stuff.

[00:57:22] Whereas my husband, like, he and his parents and his brother

[00:57:25] would, like, all get into bed at night and watch shows together

[00:57:28] and probably have picnics there together, you know?

[00:57:32] And I was like, oh, that's weird.

[00:57:34] It was me and my wife and my 85-pound dog

[00:57:37] and both kids all in the bed.

[00:57:39] Yeah.

[00:57:40] When I was a kid, I was frightened of our basement,

[00:57:45] especially once it got dark,

[00:57:47] because the windows were at, you know,

[00:57:51] at just a few inches off the ground,

[00:57:55] and I always felt that there could be somebody watching me.

[00:57:59] And I was the youngest of three boys,

[00:58:03] so sometimes they would say,

[00:58:04] can you go on and turn off the lights in the basement?

[00:58:09] Yeah.

[00:58:09] Yeah.

[00:58:10] No, basements are in here.

[00:58:11] That's how I learned how to run really fast.

[00:58:13] Oh, yeah.

[00:58:14] No, you do the thing where you, like, go down.

[00:58:16] Oh, my God.

[00:58:16] Oh, my God.

[00:58:17] Oh, my God.

[00:58:18] And then you go down and you click it,

[00:58:20] and then you just run as fast as parents.

[00:58:22] That's so funny.

[00:58:23] No reason whatsoever.

[00:58:24] Sometimes I do that still.

[00:58:25] Like, basements are just, like,

[00:58:27] like, basements are just creepy.

[00:58:29] It's because of the windows.

[00:58:30] You can't, you just know who's looking,

[00:58:31] who's watching you.

[00:58:32] I can't relate in any shape or form.

[00:58:35] The first house that I remember living at,

[00:58:37] it was a big house with my family,

[00:58:39] and then my grandparents lived with us as well.

[00:58:41] That did not go well.

[00:58:43] But anyways, and, but if you,

[00:58:46] when you came into the side door,

[00:58:47] there's a huge closet.

[00:58:49] But there was, like,

[00:58:51] there was no floor beyond where you put your boots.

[00:58:54] There was, like, empty space,

[00:58:55] and there was, like, a tunnel.

[00:58:56] You could go into the basement,

[00:58:58] into my grandfather's office down below.

[00:59:02] A tunnel?

[00:59:02] What do you mean a tunnel?

[00:59:04] It was just kind of, like,

[00:59:05] they just never, like, filled in.

[00:59:06] I don't know if they were planning

[00:59:07] to put a big fireplace there at one point

[00:59:10] or something.

[00:59:10] I have no idea.

[00:59:11] But there was, like,

[00:59:12] you could get,

[00:59:13] if you went behind the closet,

[00:59:15] behind the,

[00:59:16] excuse me,

[00:59:17] what are they called?

[00:59:18] Coats and stuff.

[00:59:19] You could basically climb down

[00:59:22] to the basement

[00:59:22] into my grandfather's office,

[00:59:24] which drove him nuts

[00:59:25] the rare times that he was in his office.

[00:59:28] And then I also loved the basement because

[00:59:30] This is a Goosebumps episode, isn't it?

[00:59:33] I also loved the basement there

[00:59:34] because when you came down the stairs,

[00:59:36] there was, like, a big, you know,

[00:59:38] big space with, like,

[00:59:39] the freezer and a couple shells

[00:59:40] and all that stuff.

[00:59:41] But then if you went down this little hallway,

[00:59:43] it was, like, an unfinished,

[00:59:44] and I'm talking, like,

[00:59:45] unfinished original stone

[00:59:47] from, like,

[00:59:47] you know, probably late 1800s.

[00:59:50] And there was, like,

[00:59:51] a hole in the ground.

[00:59:52] And my grandfather put all of his tools there.

[00:59:54] And I just loved walking around

[00:59:55] and pretending I knew

[00:59:57] how to use the tools and stuff.

[00:59:58] And then in the next house

[00:59:59] that we lived in,

[01:00:00] my bedroom was in the basement.

[01:00:01] And my closet was under the stairs.

[01:00:04] And so if you went behind my clothes,

[01:00:06] I put a mattress there and a light.

[01:00:07] And that's where I would sit

[01:00:08] and read my books.

[01:00:09] So I loved basements.

[01:00:12] I couldn't sleep in a plan.

[01:00:13] These straight books were being read.

[01:00:15] I couldn't sleep in a basement.

[01:00:16] Who wonder you had such a good time?

[01:00:17] Not because I'm scared,

[01:00:17] but because there's no light,

[01:00:19] and I'm pretty sure

[01:00:19] I would sleep in later than I should.

[01:00:22] No one ever wants to sleep

[01:00:24] at my house again

[01:00:25] after what I did a few weeks ago.

[01:00:29] Bathrooms never...

[01:00:30] Any of our audience members

[01:00:31] who watched episode 52,

[01:00:33] you'll know why.

[01:00:34] So go watch that one

[01:00:35] if you want a context for that joke.

[01:00:37] Anyway.

[01:00:38] And my first two apartments

[01:00:40] were basement apartments too.

[01:00:41] So, yeah.

[01:00:42] I'm totally fine with basements.

[01:00:44] And I have to give

[01:00:46] super special shout out

[01:00:48] to the name of the book

[01:00:51] and the episode

[01:00:51] and this cover art.

[01:00:53] Because when I was a little kid,

[01:00:55] this was back when libraries

[01:00:57] still had VHS tapes

[01:00:58] that you could take out.

[01:00:59] And this was one of the first ones

[01:01:01] I saw,

[01:01:02] and I saw that name

[01:01:03] and that freaking hand

[01:01:06] scare me.

[01:01:07] But that's so good

[01:01:09] because it's so ominous

[01:01:11] and a title like

[01:01:11] Stay Out of the Basement.

[01:01:13] Like, it's so...

[01:01:15] It's a great title.

[01:01:16] It's a great title for a story.

[01:01:18] Only slightly better

[01:01:19] than like Say Cheese and Die

[01:01:20] or Vampire's Breath or...

[01:01:23] Yep, yep, yep.

[01:01:25] We'll see.

[01:01:26] Even on the...

[01:01:27] Because like

[01:01:28] in different countries

[01:01:29] they did the different cover-ups

[01:01:31] that actually used the actors.

[01:01:32] They even still put

[01:01:34] like the hand on there.

[01:01:36] You know, but it's the actual hand

[01:01:37] like the episode.

[01:01:39] So they would still try

[01:01:40] to use those subtle things

[01:01:41] from the artwork.

[01:01:43] Yeah.

[01:01:44] But yeah, I've always got people

[01:01:45] asking me all the time

[01:01:46] like about this VHS tape

[01:01:48] because they're like

[01:01:48] I didn't even know it existed.

[01:01:50] That hand was never in the episode.

[01:01:54] There was no hand like that

[01:01:55] in false advertising.

[01:02:00] Definitely.

[01:02:02] Another question I have.

[01:02:03] So did you...

[01:02:05] Did you guys have any like family

[01:02:07] or friends that reacted

[01:02:08] to you being in this episode

[01:02:09] or did it go mostly?

[01:02:11] My kids could not watch it.

[01:02:14] Like they couldn't

[01:02:15] or they didn't watch it?

[01:02:16] We had a copy of it

[01:02:17] and you know

[01:02:19] but my...

[01:02:19] I guess my kids were all too young

[01:02:21] or they heard things

[01:02:23] and they could...

[01:02:24] I could never...

[01:02:25] I asked them forever.

[01:02:26] Hey, you want to watch

[01:02:27] the Goosebumps episode?

[01:02:29] I'm in.

[01:02:30] No, Dad, no!

[01:02:32] No!

[01:02:32] Like I could see the fear

[01:02:33] on their face

[01:02:34] so I wouldn't push it

[01:02:35] so I never watched it

[01:02:36] with my kids.

[01:02:37] It's that cover, man.

[01:02:38] It's that freaking cover.

[01:02:40] Have you watched it since then?

[01:02:42] Like at all?

[01:02:43] They've watched it since

[01:02:43] but they never watched it.

[01:02:47] Shameful.

[01:02:48] Well, you might be one though.

[01:02:49] Have your kids watched the episode?

[01:02:51] Yeah, no.

[01:02:52] I believe so.

[01:02:53] At least...

[01:02:54] Yeah.

[01:02:55] I remember at one point

[01:02:56] my daughter was in an at-home daycare.

[01:02:59] This is probably when she was like

[01:03:01] three or four

[01:03:02] and the daycare lady

[01:03:04] had a bunch of VHSs for kids

[01:03:07] and she had to stay out of the basement

[01:03:09] and it was hilarious

[01:03:11] because one of the moms pulled it out

[01:03:13] and was just like,

[01:03:13] wait a second.

[01:03:15] And she was just like...

[01:03:17] And I was like, yeah, yeah.

[01:03:19] Wow.

[01:03:20] You got me.

[01:03:21] Yeah, no.

[01:03:22] Yeah, my kids definitely watched it.

[01:03:25] I think they were never like

[01:03:27] blown away or not blown.

[01:03:29] They were just kind of like,

[01:03:30] okay, cool.

[01:03:31] That's the thing you did.

[01:03:31] Way to go, Mom.

[01:03:32] You know?

[01:03:33] I did have a classic...

[01:03:34] I do want to share with you guys

[01:03:36] a classic actors acting...

[01:03:39] an actor-director moment

[01:03:40] with Bill

[01:03:41] who, again,

[01:03:42] was a lovely, lovely man.

[01:03:45] Again, after he had one of the

[01:03:46] really huge

[01:03:47] tear-down physical fights with Becky,

[01:03:51] we were talking about

[01:03:53] a scene

[01:03:54] and

[01:03:55] we start to shoot it

[01:03:57] and

[01:03:58] I don't seem to remember us

[01:04:00] having too much to talk about.

[01:04:01] He pretty much

[01:04:02] was fine with whatever

[01:04:04] I was bringing.

[01:04:05] And this particular

[01:04:06] take of whatever

[01:04:07] we were shooting,

[01:04:08] and I honestly

[01:04:09] can't even remember

[01:04:09] what it was,

[01:04:11] I can see him thinking.

[01:04:13] He just...

[01:04:13] We were sitting next to the camera

[01:04:14] thinking and I went,

[01:04:16] Bill,

[01:04:17] what is it?

[01:04:18] What do you need?

[01:04:19] And he went,

[01:04:22] I go,

[01:04:22] what?

[01:04:23] What is it?

[01:04:24] And he goes,

[01:04:28] I need more plant.

[01:04:36] I need more plant.

[01:04:37] As if there weren't enough already.

[01:04:39] Well, you know,

[01:04:40] for me,

[01:04:40] as the actor,

[01:04:41] he needed more

[01:04:42] plant characters

[01:04:43] than dad characters.

[01:04:46] But it was just the way

[01:04:47] he phrased it,

[01:04:48] it's something I'll never forget

[01:04:50] as an actor

[01:04:50] to get a direction.

[01:04:53] I need more plant.

[01:04:55] I love that.

[01:04:57] Maybe he was thinking

[01:04:57] in his mind

[01:04:58] like those

[01:04:59] sound-activated

[01:05:00] dancing plants

[01:05:01] that were huge

[01:05:01] back in the...

[01:05:02] Yes, I do remember those.

[01:05:04] That's what he wanted from me.

[01:05:06] Yeah.

[01:05:07] But it was a way

[01:05:08] he was excruciatingly

[01:05:10] trying to figure out

[01:05:10] how to describe it.

[01:05:14] Eat more plants.

[01:05:15] Oh, and there's like

[01:05:16] great lines like,

[01:05:18] you know,

[01:05:18] I'm trying to pick a plant

[01:05:19] that's part animal

[01:05:20] and it's just like,

[01:05:22] what's just like,

[01:05:23] pure insane excitement

[01:05:25] and then they're like,

[01:05:26] wait, what?

[01:05:27] And then he's like,

[01:05:28] I can't say anymore.

[01:05:32] Even the ending

[01:05:33] with the standoff,

[01:05:35] the typical thing

[01:05:36] where it's like,

[01:05:37] no, I'm the real one.

[01:05:38] No, I'm the real one.

[01:05:39] Like, and then you have to like...

[01:05:42] Yeah.

[01:05:42] But that's a really good scene

[01:05:44] and it's because of

[01:05:46] you, Judah,

[01:05:47] like playing both,

[01:05:48] essentially two

[01:05:49] different characters.

[01:05:50] You know,

[01:05:51] you have the evil one

[01:05:52] that's more like

[01:05:53] calm and collected.

[01:05:54] He's like,

[01:05:55] you know,

[01:05:56] he tried to lock me up.

[01:05:57] I escaped.

[01:05:58] And then you have

[01:05:58] the other one

[01:05:58] that's like desperate.

[01:06:00] He's like,

[01:06:00] spray him.

[01:06:01] He's the fake.

[01:06:02] He's going to kill us all.

[01:06:03] Like that sort of thing.

[01:06:04] And then you, Becky,

[01:06:05] who are like,

[01:06:06] you're just like,

[01:06:06] get back,

[01:06:07] like get back now

[01:06:08] or I'm going to spray you.

[01:06:09] I would have sprayed both.

[01:06:11] She was willing to kill both.

[01:06:13] She really was.

[01:06:13] That's what I'm saying.

[01:06:14] Ask her.

[01:06:15] Ask her.

[01:06:16] Sure.

[01:06:16] But it was because

[01:06:17] he called Margaret princess

[01:06:19] and then that was just like,

[01:06:20] you're the fake.

[01:06:22] But realistically,

[01:06:23] what would it have actually done

[01:06:24] if he sprayed the real

[01:06:25] doctor?

[01:06:26] I mean,

[01:06:27] if he was human,

[01:06:28] it wouldn't have killed him,

[01:06:29] but it probably would have,

[01:06:30] it probably would have burned

[01:06:31] like hell,

[01:06:32] but it probably wouldn't

[01:06:33] have killed him.

[01:06:34] But that's what I mean.

[01:06:35] Like,

[01:06:35] so I would,

[01:06:35] yeah,

[01:06:36] like what you said,

[01:06:36] Nick,

[01:06:37] I would have just sprayed both

[01:06:38] to be like,

[01:06:38] well,

[01:06:39] the real ones

[01:06:39] are going to die.

[01:06:41] Yeah,

[01:06:41] just do that.

[01:06:42] It's just like,

[01:06:42] if you got a gun,

[01:06:43] but that's not as fun

[01:06:43] to watch on screen.

[01:06:45] That's not as fun

[01:06:45] to watch on screen.

[01:06:46] You needed the confrontation

[01:06:47] and the,

[01:06:48] yeah,

[01:06:49] you needed that.

[01:06:49] You wanted her

[01:06:50] to squirt herbicide

[01:06:53] into my eyes?

[01:06:56] I was like,

[01:06:57] how would you have reacted?

[01:06:59] oh,

[01:06:59] my eyes.

[01:07:01] Well,

[01:07:01] wait a minute.

[01:07:02] Does that mean

[01:07:02] that they wouldn't have

[01:07:04] been in this episode?

[01:07:05] Did they actually?

[01:07:06] Maybe just,

[01:07:07] but that other character

[01:07:08] got to do a bit of a

[01:07:09] witched,

[01:07:10] wicked witch

[01:07:11] of the East

[01:07:13] wicked witch

[01:07:14] of the West,

[01:07:14] right?

[01:07:15] The West.

[01:07:15] Yeah.

[01:07:16] So it's just a melt

[01:07:17] kind of thing

[01:07:17] with the clothes

[01:07:18] and everything.

[01:07:19] That was done

[01:07:20] really cheesy.

[01:07:21] But they got away

[01:07:22] with it a lot

[01:07:22] where like a character

[01:07:23] would melt

[01:07:25] and then you'll just

[01:07:26] have the shot

[01:07:27] of like just clothes

[01:07:28] falling and then

[01:07:28] like there's the hat

[01:07:29] like just like bloop.

[01:07:31] Yeah.

[01:07:33] That's great.

[01:07:33] I love it.

[01:07:35] I actually have

[01:07:36] to ask you guys.

[01:07:37] So I don't know

[01:07:38] if you're familiar,

[01:07:39] but there is actually

[01:07:40] a new Goosebumps

[01:07:41] TV show that is out

[01:07:42] now on Disney Plus

[01:07:44] and Hulu.

[01:07:45] There's already one season

[01:07:46] that's already out

[01:07:47] and the second one

[01:07:48] is coming out

[01:07:49] in January.

[01:07:50] There's a trailer

[01:07:50] out now

[01:07:51] and they're adapting

[01:07:52] wait for it

[01:07:54] stay out of the basement

[01:07:55] for that new show

[01:07:57] and actually

[01:07:58] David Schlimmer

[01:07:59] is going to be playing

[01:08:00] the role of Dr. Brewer.

[01:08:02] I didn't get a call.

[01:08:03] I'm just saying.

[01:08:04] That's like

[01:08:05] I turned it off.

[01:08:06] It's been our biggest

[01:08:08] cameos.

[01:08:09] Catherine Long said this.

[01:08:10] She's like

[01:08:11] it's weird

[01:08:12] that we're not

[01:08:12] getting cameos

[01:08:13] in these things.

[01:08:14] I'm like

[01:08:14] well

[01:08:14] you know.

[01:08:17] If we were making

[01:08:18] the show

[01:08:18] we'd be calling

[01:08:19] you guys up.

[01:08:21] Just know that.

[01:08:22] I'm curious

[01:08:23] what do you guys

[01:08:24] have you guys

[01:08:24] seen

[01:08:25] any of the footage

[01:08:26] from this new season?

[01:08:28] What do you think?

[01:08:30] So I watched

[01:08:31] the first season.

[01:08:32] I am a fan

[01:08:33] of Justin Long

[01:08:34] as well.

[01:08:34] I think he's great.

[01:08:35] So he was part

[01:08:37] of the reason

[01:08:37] I watched it

[01:08:37] but also

[01:08:38] because I was like

[01:08:38] oh this should be

[01:08:39] interesting.

[01:08:40] It really had me

[01:08:42] for a while

[01:08:42] and then it just

[01:08:43] it kind of went

[01:08:44] a little bit

[01:08:44] too many things

[01:08:46] going on at once

[01:08:47] and then the ending

[01:08:47] was just

[01:08:48] I'm sorry

[01:08:49] dumb to me.

[01:08:50] You are among

[01:08:51] friends with that

[01:08:52] opinion

[01:08:52] because we feel

[01:08:53] the same way.

[01:08:53] Yeah.

[01:08:54] I just was kind

[01:08:55] of like

[01:08:55] what is

[01:08:55] what is happening

[01:08:56] right now?

[01:08:57] Like it was

[01:08:57] really cool

[01:08:58] in the beginning

[01:08:58] there was like

[01:08:59] one straight story

[01:09:00] that I was like

[01:09:00] this is cool

[01:09:01] I can follow this

[01:09:02] and then it just

[01:09:02] kind of went

[01:09:02] all a little bit

[01:09:03] too much

[01:09:04] for me.

[01:09:05] Yeah.

[01:09:06] So I was just

[01:09:07] I was disappointed

[01:09:07] with that

[01:09:09] and there was

[01:09:10] this one part

[01:09:11] that was hilarious

[01:09:12] my daughter and I

[01:09:12] must have run

[01:09:13] around it

[01:09:13] like three or four

[01:09:14] times.

[01:09:14] So have you

[01:09:15] I mean

[01:09:16] spoiler alert

[01:09:17] possibly even

[01:09:18] though I'm

[01:09:18] probably not

[01:09:19] going to do

[01:09:19] justice

[01:09:19] explaining this

[01:09:20] it's the scene

[01:09:21] where they're

[01:09:22] like confronting

[01:09:23] on the cliff

[01:09:24] right with

[01:09:25] a bad person

[01:09:26] I can't remember

[01:09:27] who's who

[01:09:27] anymore

[01:09:27] but and like

[01:09:29] but then they

[01:09:29] save them

[01:09:30] and everything's

[01:09:30] okay in the end

[01:09:31] and they're like

[01:09:32] oh good

[01:09:32] we're all going

[01:09:33] to be well

[01:09:33] and there's like

[01:09:34] you know

[01:09:34] that inspirational

[01:09:36] crescendo of music

[01:09:37] and then it kind

[01:09:38] of goes silent

[01:09:38] and then this like

[01:09:39] these lyrics

[01:09:41] come in

[01:09:41] and I can't

[01:09:42] remember what

[01:09:43] it says

[01:09:43] but it says

[01:09:44] something so

[01:09:45] inappropriate

[01:09:47] like my daughter

[01:09:48] and I were like

[01:09:48] wait dude

[01:09:49] are you sleeping?

[01:09:51] No.

[01:09:51] What?

[01:09:52] Hello?

[01:09:55] I'm sorry

[01:09:56] I bore you.

[01:09:56] No.

[01:09:58] I thought we were

[01:09:59] talking about

[01:09:59] our episode.

[01:10:03] Well

[01:10:03] no

[01:10:04] and I will

[01:10:06] go off of what

[01:10:06] you were saying

[01:10:07] is that episode

[01:10:08] ends with

[01:10:09] yeah it's

[01:10:10] it feels like

[01:10:11] it's supposed to

[01:10:11] be the finale

[01:10:12] but then there's

[01:10:13] two more episodes

[01:10:13] that come after it

[01:10:14] and it's like

[01:10:15] when's this here?

[01:10:16] No bad.

[01:10:17] Like Slappy

[01:10:17] is apparently

[01:10:18] the main villain

[01:10:19] now and it's like

[01:10:19] when did that happen?

[01:10:20] Like he was barely

[01:10:21] he was barely here.

[01:10:23] Yeah.

[01:10:23] It was very weird.

[01:10:24] I didn't

[01:10:25] yeah

[01:10:25] they lost me.

[01:10:26] But now they're

[01:10:27] now they're adapting

[01:10:28] Stan in the basement

[01:10:29] for this new season

[01:10:30] and there's a scene

[01:10:31] in the trailer

[01:10:31] that's very reminiscent

[01:10:32] of the scene

[01:10:34] in the bathroom

[01:10:34] with the green blood

[01:10:35] except this time

[01:10:36] he's pulling worms

[01:10:38] out of his skin

[01:10:39] like there's

[01:10:40] this worm

[01:10:40] flowing in his arm

[01:10:41] and he's got

[01:10:42] a little tweezer

[01:10:42] and he's just like

[01:10:43] ah

[01:10:46] very

[01:10:47] very gross

[01:10:48] very creepy

[01:10:49] but

[01:10:49] I was curious

[01:10:50] to know

[01:10:51] how you guys

[01:10:52] with the original effects

[01:10:53] they can do so many things

[01:10:54] exactly

[01:10:55] yeah

[01:10:56] it's

[01:10:56] they can do so much now

[01:10:58] and now they have

[01:10:58] in this new season

[01:10:59] there's going to be plants

[01:11:00] that are like

[01:11:00] grabbing

[01:11:01] huge

[01:11:03] oh yeah

[01:11:04] yeah

[01:11:05] all the stuff

[01:11:05] that they can do

[01:11:06] is amazing

[01:11:07] it really is

[01:11:08] but that story

[01:11:09] is going to be

[01:11:09] getting a brand new face

[01:11:11] but in my personal opinion

[01:11:12] you know

[01:11:12] this will always reign supreme

[01:11:14] no matter how good

[01:11:15] that new one is

[01:11:16] is the original

[01:11:17] show

[01:11:18] like you say this

[01:11:18] all the time

[01:11:19] like even the Goosebump movies

[01:11:20] like they were fun

[01:11:21] they were fun movies

[01:11:23] particularly the first one

[01:11:24] I guess like

[01:11:25] a bit more

[01:11:26] like with the first Goosebump movie

[01:11:28] but

[01:11:28] yeah

[01:11:29] there's just something

[01:11:30] about the original 90s show

[01:11:32] the charm of it

[01:11:33] that

[01:11:34] it just

[01:11:34] it'll never be replicated again

[01:11:36] I don't think

[01:11:36] there's only one Becky

[01:11:38] there's only one

[01:11:39] there's only one

[01:11:40] there's only one

[01:11:42] Becky

[01:11:42] there can be only one

[01:11:47] well if she had gotten cloned

[01:11:48] then there would have been two

[01:11:50] that's true

[01:11:52] that's true

[01:11:53] well I guess I have

[01:11:54] one final question

[01:11:55] before we call it a night

[01:11:58] but you know

[01:11:59] as we said

[01:11:59] this is a very iconic episode

[01:12:01] and a lot of people

[01:12:02] 90s kids

[01:12:03] especially

[01:12:03] grew up with this episode

[01:12:05] and remember it

[01:12:06] and look back on it fondly

[01:12:07] and in such

[01:12:08] have passed it on

[01:12:09] to their kids

[01:12:10] now that they're grown up

[01:12:11] and they pass on to their kids

[01:12:12] so

[01:12:13] as we always say

[01:12:14] Goosebumps

[01:12:15] as you said

[01:12:16] at the beginning Judah

[01:12:16] Goosebumps is a phenomenon

[01:12:18] it was

[01:12:19] and it still really is

[01:12:20] because there's still new books

[01:12:21] coming out

[01:12:22] and all that

[01:12:23] so the legacy

[01:12:24] is going to live on forever

[01:12:25] especially in these

[01:12:26] individual episodes

[01:12:27] and I just got to ask

[01:12:29] there's a lot of Goosebumps fans

[01:12:30] that are

[01:12:31] you know

[01:12:31] watching this podcast

[01:12:32] what do you have to say

[01:12:33] the fans

[01:12:34] that have stuck around

[01:12:35] with this series

[01:12:36] for so long

[01:12:37] I

[01:12:41] and that's

[01:12:42] my message

[01:12:46] is stay out of the basement

[01:12:50] I'm not a writer

[01:12:51] I don't have a script

[01:12:55] ask Becky

[01:12:57] Becky

[01:12:58] hopefully you can give us

[01:13:00] some inspiration

[01:13:01] I just say what they tell me to say

[01:13:03] ask Becky

[01:13:05] honestly

[01:13:05] like

[01:13:06] I'm of two minds on it

[01:13:07] I think it's so cool

[01:13:09] I mean

[01:13:09] anybody who

[01:13:11] gets the chance

[01:13:12] to act in anything

[01:13:13] is hopeful

[01:13:14] that it becomes

[01:13:14] some sort of

[01:13:16] cult following

[01:13:16] or big in some

[01:13:17] way

[01:13:18] not necessarily

[01:13:19] like you know

[01:13:19] Harry Potter big

[01:13:21] you know

[01:13:22] but even just like

[01:13:23] quiet big

[01:13:24] you know

[01:13:25] and that's kind of

[01:13:26] what's happened here

[01:13:27] because you know

[01:13:28] when we did this show

[01:13:30] at least for myself

[01:13:31] I had no idea

[01:13:32] like I knew it was going to be

[01:13:33] somewhat big

[01:13:34] because it was on the big

[01:13:36] channels

[01:13:36] and whatnot

[01:13:37] but I didn't know

[01:13:38] it would be something

[01:13:39] that would

[01:13:40] catch on

[01:13:41] and stay on so much

[01:13:42] and

[01:13:43] yeah

[01:13:44] and people have been

[01:13:45] reaching out to me

[01:13:45] for years

[01:13:46] this is the only

[01:13:47] one that

[01:13:48] I mean

[01:13:48] not that I did

[01:13:49] a lot afterwards

[01:13:50] but

[01:13:50] the only project

[01:13:51] that I still get

[01:13:53] contacted about

[01:13:54] which is

[01:13:54] which is exciting

[01:13:55] in itself

[01:13:55] and it's really cool

[01:13:56] and I appreciate

[01:13:57] that people

[01:13:58] love the show

[01:13:59] and love the

[01:14:00] franchise

[01:14:00] and everything

[01:14:02] but sometimes

[01:14:03] it can be

[01:14:04] it can be scary

[01:14:05] as a woman

[01:14:05] sometimes

[01:14:06] when

[01:14:07] when people

[01:14:07] reach out to you

[01:14:08] that you don't know

[01:14:09] I don't mind

[01:14:10] if someone says

[01:14:11] you know

[01:14:11] like hey

[01:14:11] love doing that show

[01:14:13] you know

[01:14:13] love goosebumps

[01:14:14] that kind of

[01:14:15] so that's great

[01:14:15] but sometimes

[01:14:16] people seem to think

[01:14:17] that

[01:14:17] like they

[01:14:18] already have

[01:14:19] some sort of

[01:14:20] relationship

[01:14:20] with you

[01:14:21] because you've

[01:14:21] been on television

[01:14:23] and I guess

[01:14:24] there's been people

[01:14:26] yeah

[01:14:26] and maybe

[01:14:27] because of

[01:14:28] social media

[01:14:28] as well

[01:14:29] I don't know

[01:14:29] like I don't

[01:14:30] post much

[01:14:31] on social media

[01:14:31] except for my

[01:14:32] writing projects

[01:14:33] and stuff

[01:14:33] because

[01:14:34] it got to the point

[01:14:35] when I was

[01:14:35] posting personal

[01:14:36] stuff

[01:14:36] I would get

[01:14:37] some fans

[01:14:38] who would

[01:14:38] contact me

[01:14:39] and then they'd

[01:14:40] start mentioning

[01:14:41] things that they

[01:14:42] saw in my

[01:14:42] personal post

[01:14:43] and I was like

[01:14:43] okay this is

[01:14:44] getting a little

[01:14:44] too much

[01:14:45] for me

[01:14:46] so again

[01:14:47] I always

[01:14:48] appreciate

[01:14:48] that people

[01:14:49] sorry

[01:14:50] that people

[01:14:52] love the show

[01:14:54] and that they're

[01:14:55] fans

[01:14:55] and that

[01:14:56] you know

[01:14:56] and that our

[01:14:57] episode

[01:14:57] specifically

[01:14:58] stuck out to

[01:14:58] them

[01:14:58] like that's

[01:14:59] really awesome

[01:14:59] and I'm so

[01:15:00] glad to have

[01:15:01] been a part

[01:15:01] of it

[01:15:01] I feel

[01:15:02] blessed

[01:15:02] you know

[01:15:04] yeah

[01:15:05] so

[01:15:05] thank you

[01:15:06] to all

[01:15:06] of them

[01:15:07] for sure

[01:15:08] much better

[01:15:09] answer than

[01:15:10] what I have

[01:15:11] nostalgia

[01:15:13] like a tie

[01:15:14] like a tie

[01:15:16] nostalgia

[01:15:16] like because

[01:15:17] we had

[01:15:17] Kyra Erickson

[01:15:18] on and he

[01:15:18] even said

[01:15:18] like he's

[01:15:19] in his

[01:15:19] 30 plus

[01:15:20] year career

[01:15:21] all the

[01:15:22] projects he's

[01:15:23] done

[01:15:23] he gets

[01:15:23] asked about

[01:15:24] goosebumps

[01:15:24] more than

[01:15:25] anything

[01:15:25] yeah

[01:15:25] it's amazing

[01:15:26] yeah

[01:15:27] yeah

[01:15:28] and I'm

[01:15:29] always happy

[01:15:29] to to

[01:15:30] you know

[01:15:31] respond to

[01:15:31] people

[01:15:32] and to

[01:15:32] say hi

[01:15:33] and thanks

[01:15:34] for watching

[01:15:34] or you know

[01:15:35] that kind

[01:15:35] of stuff

[01:15:36] because I

[01:15:37] mean I

[01:15:37] can do

[01:15:38] that too

[01:15:38] right

[01:15:38] if I had

[01:15:39] an opportunity

[01:15:39] to talk

[01:15:40] to someone

[01:15:40] I saw

[01:15:40] on a

[01:15:40] project

[01:15:41] and I

[01:15:41] would love

[01:15:42] to be able

[01:15:42] to say

[01:15:42] like hey

[01:15:43] man I've

[01:15:43] really respected

[01:15:44] your work

[01:15:44] in that

[01:15:44] and like

[01:15:45] good job

[01:15:45] and I

[01:15:46] would love

[01:15:46] for them

[01:15:46] to be

[01:15:47] able to

[01:15:47] or be

[01:15:48] willing

[01:15:48] to say

[01:15:49] thanks

[01:15:49] appreciate

[01:15:50] it

[01:15:57] fan mail

[01:15:57] to my

[01:15:58] house

[01:15:58] sometimes

[01:15:58] and I'm

[01:15:59] like how

[01:15:59] did they

[01:15:59] know where

[01:16:00] I live

[01:16:01] you know

[01:16:02] story

[01:16:02] we've

[01:16:03] heard all

[01:16:03] too often

[01:16:04] unfortunately

[01:16:04] we've

[01:16:05] actually

[01:16:06] heard that

[01:16:06] from a

[01:16:07] few

[01:16:08] some

[01:16:08] guests

[01:16:08] won't

[01:16:09] come on

[01:16:09] the podcast

[01:16:11] because

[01:16:11] of that

[01:16:12] one

[01:16:12] that

[01:16:12] Bjorn

[01:16:13] reached

[01:16:13] out to

[01:16:14] and

[01:16:15] even

[01:16:15] Catherine

[01:16:16] Long

[01:16:16] has said

[01:16:16] the same

[01:16:16] thing

[01:16:17] like I

[01:16:17] don't

[01:16:18] know

[01:16:18] how

[01:16:18] they

[01:16:18] found

[01:16:18] out

[01:16:18] where

[01:16:18] I

[01:16:18] lived

[01:16:19] and

[01:16:20] all

[01:16:20] other

[01:16:20] stuff

[01:16:21] and

[01:16:21] it

[01:16:22] gets

[01:16:22] to

[01:16:22] the

[01:16:22] creep

[01:16:23] level

[01:16:23] factor

[01:16:23] for

[01:16:24] sure

[01:16:24] and

[01:16:24] unfortunately

[01:16:25] that does

[01:16:26] ruin

[01:16:27] things

[01:16:28] like

[01:16:28] this

[01:16:29] where

[01:16:30] we

[01:16:30] get to

[01:16:30] share

[01:16:30] these

[01:16:30] fun

[01:16:31] stories

[01:16:31] and

[01:16:31] moments

[01:16:31] because

[01:16:32] of

[01:16:34] unfortunate

[01:16:34] circumstances

[01:16:35] like that

[01:16:35] that

[01:16:36] had

[01:16:36] happened

[01:16:36] so

[01:16:37] there

[01:16:38] was

[01:16:39] a

[01:16:40] big

[01:16:40] Hollywood

[01:16:40] movie

[01:16:41] I worked

[01:16:41] on a

[01:16:42] few

[01:16:42] years

[01:16:42] ago

[01:16:43] I

[01:16:44] won't

[01:16:44] mention

[01:16:44] any

[01:16:45] names

[01:16:45] but

[01:16:45] world

[01:16:46] famous

[01:16:46] actors

[01:16:47] and

[01:16:48] one

[01:16:48] actor

[01:16:50] had

[01:16:51] two

[01:16:51] bodyguards

[01:16:52] with him

[01:16:52] 24

[01:16:53] 7

[01:16:55] because

[01:16:55] of

[01:16:56] this

[01:16:57] fame

[01:16:59] is

[01:17:00] very

[01:17:00] much

[01:17:00] a

[01:17:01] two

[01:17:01] sided

[01:17:01] coin

[01:17:03] most

[01:17:04] of

[01:17:04] us

[01:17:04] don't

[01:17:05] become

[01:17:05] actors

[01:17:06] to

[01:17:06] become

[01:17:06] famous

[01:17:07] we

[01:17:08] become

[01:17:08] actors

[01:17:09] because

[01:17:09] we

[01:17:10] enjoy

[01:17:12] we

[01:17:12] have

[01:17:13] a

[01:17:13] passion

[01:17:13] for

[01:17:14] acting

[01:17:14] just

[01:17:15] like

[01:17:15] other

[01:17:15] people

[01:17:15] have

[01:17:15] a

[01:17:15] passion

[01:17:16] for

[01:17:16] writing

[01:17:17] or

[01:17:17] music

[01:17:18] or

[01:17:19] collecting

[01:17:20] or

[01:17:21] whatever

[01:17:21] it is

[01:17:22] sports

[01:17:23] we

[01:17:24] never

[01:17:24] signed

[01:17:24] up

[01:17:25] for

[01:17:25] you

[01:17:26] know

[01:17:26] strangers

[01:17:27] stopping

[01:17:28] us

[01:17:28] in the

[01:17:28] street

[01:17:28] which

[01:17:29] has

[01:17:29] happened

[01:17:29] to me

[01:17:30] because

[01:17:30] of

[01:17:30] this

[01:17:30] show

[01:17:30] yeah

[01:17:31] but

[01:17:32] I

[01:17:32] can't

[01:17:32] imagine

[01:17:32] what

[01:17:32] it's

[01:17:33] like

[01:17:33] to

[01:17:33] be

[01:17:33] world

[01:17:33] famous

[01:17:34] and

[01:17:34] to

[01:17:34] literally

[01:17:35] be

[01:17:36] frightened

[01:17:36] to

[01:17:36] go

[01:17:37] out

[01:17:37] of

[01:17:37] your

[01:17:37] home

[01:17:37] yeah

[01:17:38] so

[01:17:39] yeah

[01:17:39] yeah

[01:17:40] no

[01:17:40] and

[01:17:41] the

[01:17:41] unfortunate

[01:17:41] thing

[01:17:42] is

[01:17:42] like

[01:17:42] I

[01:17:42] experienced

[01:17:43] it

[01:17:43] not

[01:17:43] only

[01:17:44] from

[01:17:44] this

[01:17:44] but

[01:17:44] I

[01:17:44] was

[01:17:45] also

[01:17:45] trying

[01:17:45] to

[01:17:45] make

[01:17:46] it

[01:17:46] in

[01:17:46] the

[01:17:46] music

[01:17:46] business

[01:17:47] so

[01:17:47] I

[01:17:47] was

[01:17:47] in

[01:17:47] a

[01:17:47] band

[01:17:48] for

[01:17:48] most

[01:17:48] of

[01:17:48] the

[01:17:48] 90s

[01:17:49] and

[01:17:50] I

[01:17:50] released

[01:17:50] albums

[01:17:51] and

[01:17:51] had

[01:17:52] a

[01:17:52] video

[01:17:53] on

[01:17:53] rotation

[01:17:53] on

[01:17:54] much

[01:17:54] music

[01:17:54] if

[01:17:54] you

[01:17:55] all

[01:17:55] know

[01:17:55] what

[01:17:55] that

[01:17:55] is

[01:17:56] it's

[01:17:57] not

[01:17:57] around

[01:17:57] anymore

[01:17:57] but

[01:17:59] even

[01:18:00] at

[01:18:00] bars

[01:18:02] men

[01:18:02] would

[01:18:03] come up

[01:18:03] to me

[01:18:04] and

[01:18:04] approach

[01:18:04] me

[01:18:04] and

[01:18:04] I

[01:18:16] it's

[01:18:17] hard

[01:18:17] to

[01:18:17] know

[01:18:17] how

[01:18:17] to

[01:18:18] protect

[01:18:18] yourself

[01:18:19] if

[01:18:20] you're

[01:18:20] not

[01:18:20] given

[01:18:20] the

[01:18:20] right

[01:18:21] guidance

[01:18:21] kind

[01:18:22] of

[01:18:22] stuff

[01:18:23] and

[01:18:23] so

[01:18:23] it

[01:18:23] turned

[01:18:24] me

[01:18:24] off

[01:18:24] of

[01:18:25] the

[01:18:25] arts

[01:18:25] for

[01:18:25] quite

[01:18:26] some

[01:18:26] time

[01:18:26] because

[01:18:27] I

[01:18:47] I

[01:18:47] am

[01:18:47] happy

[01:18:48] where

[01:18:48] I

[01:18:48] am

[01:18:48] now

[01:18:49] and

[01:18:49] I

[01:18:49] am

[01:18:50] still

[01:18:50] pursuing

[01:18:50] in

[01:18:50] my

[01:18:50] own

[01:18:51] ways

[01:18:51] and

[01:18:51] maybe

[01:18:52] something

[01:18:52] will

[01:18:52] happen

[01:18:52] one

[01:18:52] day

[01:18:53] who

[01:18:53] knows

[01:18:54] sometimes

[01:18:55] it's

[01:18:55] just

[01:18:56] the

[01:18:56] way

[01:18:57] of

[01:18:57] the

[01:18:57] land

[01:18:57] but

[01:18:59] from

[01:19:00] us

[01:19:00] we

[01:19:01] want

[01:19:01] to

[01:19:02] thank

[01:19:02] both

[01:19:02] of

[01:19:03] you

[01:19:03] for

[01:19:03] doing

[01:19:04] what

[01:19:04] you

[01:19:04] do

[01:19:04] and

[01:19:06] bringing

[01:19:06] those

[01:19:06] things

[01:19:07] out

[01:19:07] into

[01:19:07] the

[01:19:07] world

[01:19:07] and

[01:19:08] being

[01:19:08] yourselves

[01:19:09] that's

[01:19:10] the most

[01:19:10] important

[01:19:10] thing

[01:19:11] you

[01:19:11] can

[01:19:11] do

[01:19:11] in

[01:19:11] life

[01:19:11] and

[01:19:13] contribute

[01:19:14] to

[01:19:14] the

[01:19:14] world

[01:19:14] hopefully

[01:19:15] in

[01:19:15] the

[01:19:16] same

[01:19:16] breath

[01:19:18] and

[01:19:19] there's

[01:19:20] a lot

[01:19:20] of

[01:19:20] people

[01:19:20] that

[01:19:20] I

[01:19:21] know

[01:19:21] who

[01:19:21] are

[01:19:22] very

[01:19:23] appreciative

[01:19:23] of

[01:19:24] this

[01:19:24] episode

[01:19:25] because

[01:19:25] it

[01:19:25] was

[01:19:26] something

[01:19:26] they

[01:19:27] could

[01:19:27] grow

[01:19:27] up

[01:19:27] with

[01:19:27] and

[01:19:28] stuck

[01:19:28] with

[01:19:28] them

[01:19:29] and

[01:19:29] for

[01:19:30] some

[01:19:30] of

[01:19:30] us

[01:19:30] it's

[01:19:31] still

[01:19:32] sticking

[01:19:32] with

[01:19:32] them

[01:19:32] but

[01:19:33] it's

[01:19:34] for

[01:19:35] you

[01:19:36] guys

[01:19:36] right

[01:19:36] it

[01:19:37] brings

[01:19:38] you

[01:19:38] all

[01:19:38] back

[01:19:38] to

[01:19:38] your

[01:19:39] youth

[01:19:39] for

[01:19:40] my

[01:19:41] generation

[01:19:41] it

[01:19:42] was

[01:19:42] the

[01:19:42] Wizard

[01:19:43] of

[01:19:43] Oz

[01:19:43] would

[01:19:43] come

[01:19:43] on

[01:19:44] every

[01:19:44] year

[01:19:45] I

[01:19:46] think

[01:19:46] in

[01:19:46] the

[01:19:46] fall

[01:19:47] every

[01:19:47] year

[01:19:48] same

[01:19:48] time

[01:19:48] and

[01:19:49] we

[01:19:49] watch

[01:19:49] it

[01:19:49] and

[01:19:49] there

[01:19:50] was

[01:19:50] like

[01:19:50] a

[01:19:50] rotation

[01:19:51] of

[01:19:51] movies

[01:19:51] that

[01:19:51] would

[01:19:51] come

[01:19:52] in

[01:19:52] through

[01:19:52] the

[01:19:52] year

[01:19:52] on

[01:19:53] this

[01:19:53] way

[01:19:54] before

[01:19:54] the

[01:19:55] day

[01:19:55] cable

[01:19:55] and

[01:19:56] everything

[01:19:56] you

[01:19:56] got

[01:19:56] kind

[01:19:57] of

[01:19:57] used

[01:19:57] to

[01:19:57] that

[01:19:57] those

[01:19:58] are

[01:19:58] the

[01:20:00] films

[01:20:01] and

[01:20:01] the

[01:20:01] TV

[01:20:01] shows

[01:20:02] that

[01:20:02] are

[01:20:08] you

[01:20:09] not

[01:20:09] cases

[01:20:10] so

[01:20:12] we

[01:20:12] are

[01:20:12] appreciative

[01:20:14] and

[01:20:14] I

[01:20:14] do

[01:20:15] want

[01:20:15] to

[01:20:15] say

[01:20:15] you

[01:20:16] have

[01:20:16] been

[01:20:16] really

[01:20:17] lovely

[01:20:17] and

[01:20:18] we

[01:20:18] talked

[01:20:18] on

[01:20:18] a few

[01:20:19] occasions

[01:20:20] with

[01:20:20] hopeful

[01:20:21] of other

[01:20:21] projects

[01:20:22] that

[01:20:22] didn't

[01:20:22] pan out

[01:20:23] yet

[01:20:24] but

[01:20:24] I also

[01:20:25] want to

[01:20:26] say

[01:20:26] this is

[01:20:26] awesome

[01:20:27] reconnecting

[01:20:27] with

[01:20:28] Judah

[01:20:28] it's

[01:20:29] so good

[01:20:29] to see

[01:20:29] you

[01:20:29] Judah

[01:20:30] you

[01:20:30] look

[01:20:30] fantastic

[01:20:31] you

[01:20:31] don't

[01:20:31] look

[01:20:31] crazy

[01:20:32] huh

[01:20:32] just

[01:20:33] a little

[01:20:33] gray

[01:20:33] white

[01:20:33] but

[01:20:34] same

[01:20:34] here

[01:20:36] but

[01:20:37] yeah

[01:20:37] because

[01:20:37] you're

[01:20:37] in

[01:20:37] Toronto

[01:20:38] now

[01:20:38] right

[01:20:38] still

[01:20:40] I

[01:20:40] can't

[01:20:41] say

[01:20:41] oh

[01:20:42] okay

[01:20:42] well

[01:20:43] then

[01:20:43] we'll

[01:20:43] have

[01:20:43] to

[01:20:43] connect

[01:20:43] offline

[01:20:44] so

[01:20:44] that

[01:20:45] I

[01:20:45] would

[01:20:45] love

[01:20:45] to

[01:20:46] meet

[01:20:46] up

[01:20:46] for

[01:20:46] a

[01:20:46] coffee

[01:20:46] or

[01:20:47] something

[01:20:47] like

[01:20:47] that

[01:20:47] yes

[01:20:48] please

[01:20:48] yeah

[01:20:49] but

[01:20:50] yeah

[01:20:50] so

[01:20:50] like

[01:20:51] I

[01:20:51] mean

[01:20:51] who

[01:20:51] knows

[01:20:51] if

[01:20:51] Judah

[01:20:52] and I

[01:20:52] would

[01:20:52] have

[01:20:52] run

[01:20:52] into

[01:20:53] each

[01:20:53] other

[01:20:53] again

[01:20:53] if

[01:20:53] it

[01:20:53] wasn't

[01:20:54] for

[01:20:54] you

[01:20:54] guys

[01:20:54] so

[01:20:54] that's

[01:20:54] awesome

[01:20:55] well

[01:20:55] we're

[01:20:56] glad

[01:20:56] to

[01:20:56] make

[01:20:56] that

[01:20:56] reunion

[01:20:57] happen

[01:20:57] and

[01:20:58] you

[01:20:58] know

[01:20:58] we

[01:20:59] were

[01:21:00] very

[01:21:01] excited

[01:21:01] when

[01:21:02] we

[01:21:02] were

[01:21:02] able

[01:21:02] to

[01:21:02] get

[01:21:03] both

[01:21:03] of

[01:21:04] you

[01:21:04] on

[01:21:04] at

[01:21:04] the

[01:21:04] same

[01:21:04] time

[01:21:04] like

[01:21:05] it

[01:21:05] was

[01:21:06] it's

[01:21:06] huge

[01:21:07] like

[01:21:07] we

[01:21:07] did

[01:21:07] this

[01:21:07] Halloween

[01:21:08] special

[01:21:08] where we

[01:21:09] were

[01:21:09] able to

[01:21:09] get

[01:21:10] three

[01:21:10] of our

[01:21:11] yeah

[01:21:12] yeah

[01:21:42] I mean

[01:21:42] Judah

[01:21:43] doesn't

[01:21:43] remember

[01:21:43] anything

[01:21:44] but

[01:21:44] that's

[01:21:44] that's

[01:21:44] okay

[01:21:45] it was

[01:21:47] the

[01:21:47] alcohol

[01:21:47] but

[01:21:48] it's

[01:21:48] okay

[01:21:48] you

[01:21:49] know

[01:21:50] what

[01:21:50] that

[01:21:50] was

[01:21:50] one

[01:21:51] of

[01:21:51] the

[01:21:51] reasons

[01:21:51] why

[01:21:52] I

[01:21:52] loved

[01:21:52] acting

[01:21:53] so

[01:21:54] much

[01:21:54] whether

[01:21:54] it

[01:21:54] was

[01:21:55] theater

[01:21:55] film

[01:21:55] television

[01:21:57] yeah

[01:21:59] absolutely

[01:22:00] no

[01:22:01] it's

[01:22:01] it's

[01:22:01] you

[01:22:02] you

[01:22:02] really

[01:22:02] become

[01:22:02] almost

[01:22:12] stuff

[01:22:12] going

[01:22:12] on

[01:22:13] but

[01:22:15] it's

[01:22:15] a

[01:22:15] double-edged

[01:22:15] sword

[01:22:16] for me

[01:22:16] because

[01:22:16] I loved

[01:22:17] it

[01:22:17] how we

[01:22:17] became

[01:22:18] so

[01:22:18] tight-knit

[01:22:18] and like

[01:22:19] a family

[01:22:19] but then

[01:22:20] we all

[01:22:20] say

[01:22:21] you're

[01:22:21] going to

[01:22:21] stay

[01:22:21] in touch

[01:22:21] and it

[01:22:22] rarely

[01:22:22] happens

[01:22:23] and so

[01:22:23] I would

[01:22:23] get my

[01:22:24] heart

[01:22:24] broken

[01:22:24] all the

[01:22:24] time

[01:22:25] just

[01:22:26] because

[01:22:26] I'm

[01:22:26] such

[01:22:26] a

[01:22:26] sensitive

[01:22:27] person

[01:22:28] but

[01:22:29] you know

[01:22:29] but that's

[01:22:30] one of

[01:22:30] the things

[01:22:30] I loved

[01:22:31] about

[01:22:31] acting

[01:22:31] oh

[01:22:32] you know

[01:22:32] when I

[01:22:32] did

[01:22:33] a film

[01:22:33] out in

[01:22:34] LA

[01:22:34] with

[01:22:35] which

[01:22:35] Ryan

[01:22:36] Gosling

[01:22:36] was in

[01:22:36] and there

[01:22:37] was a

[01:22:37] couple

[01:22:38] other

[01:22:38] Canadian

[01:22:38] kids

[01:22:39] I don't

[01:22:39] know if

[01:22:39] you're

[01:22:39] Ricky

[01:22:39] maybe

[01:22:40] I don't

[01:22:40] know if

[01:22:40] he did

[01:22:41] it

[01:22:41] goosebumps

[01:22:41] I don't

[01:22:42] think so

[01:22:43] and

[01:22:44] Jameson

[01:22:45] who I

[01:22:45] don't

[01:22:45] think

[01:22:46] acts

[01:22:46] anymore

[01:22:46] but I

[01:22:47] was the

[01:22:47] only

[01:22:47] girl

[01:22:47] on

[01:22:48] set

[01:22:48] so

[01:22:49] I

[01:22:49] felt

[01:22:49] really

[01:22:50] kind

[01:22:50] of

[01:22:50] like

[01:22:50] awkward

[01:22:51] but the

[01:22:52] crew

[01:22:52] were

[01:22:52] just

[01:22:52] so

[01:22:53] lovely

[01:22:53] like

[01:22:54] you know

[01:22:54] I

[01:22:55] ended up

[01:22:56] staying

[01:22:56] in touch

[01:22:57] with a

[01:22:57] few

[01:22:57] of

[01:22:57] them

[01:22:57] for

[01:22:57] many

[01:22:58] years

[01:22:58] which

[01:22:59] was

[01:22:59] just

[01:23:00] fantastic

[01:23:00] right

[01:23:00] when

[01:23:01] you

[01:23:01] can

[01:23:01] meet

[01:23:01] people

[01:23:01] who

[01:23:02] you

[01:23:03] know

[01:23:03] you

[01:23:03] can

[01:23:03] connect

[01:23:03] with

[01:23:03] on

[01:23:04] that

[01:23:04] level

[01:23:04] that

[01:23:04] you

[01:23:28] so

[01:23:28] like

[01:23:29] damn

[01:23:29] well

[01:23:30] doesn't

[01:23:31] she

[01:23:34] thank

[01:23:35] you

[01:23:36] it's

[01:23:37] been

[01:23:37] such

[01:23:37] an

[01:23:37] honor

[01:23:38] having

[01:23:38] you

[01:23:38] guys

[01:23:38] on

[01:23:39] like

[01:23:39] I

[01:23:39] always

[01:23:40] say

[01:23:40] this

[01:23:40] to

[01:23:40] Nick

[01:23:40] and

[01:23:40] Isaiah

[01:23:41] like

[01:23:41] you

[01:23:42] know

[01:23:42] watching

[01:23:43] these

[01:23:43] shows

[01:23:43] growing

[01:23:44] up

[01:23:44] particularly

[01:23:44] goosebumps

[01:23:45] because

[01:23:45] it's

[01:23:45] in

[01:23:46] our

[01:23:46] monster

[01:23:46] blood

[01:23:47] as I

[01:23:47] say

[01:23:48] literally

[01:23:49] like

[01:23:49] I

[01:23:50] never

[01:23:50] thought

[01:23:50] in

[01:23:50] my

[01:23:51] wildest

[01:23:51] dreams

[01:23:51] we

[01:23:56] it's

[01:23:57] a

[01:23:57] dream

[01:23:57] and

[01:23:58] we

[01:23:58] get

[01:23:58] to

[01:23:59] live

[01:23:59] it

[01:23:59] right

[01:23:59] now

[01:23:59] so

[01:23:59] this

[01:24:00] is

[01:24:00] just

[01:24:00] and

[01:24:00] we

[01:24:00] get

[01:24:00] to

[01:24:01] give

[01:24:01] it

[01:24:01] back

[01:24:01] to

[01:24:02] you

[01:24:02] at

[01:24:02] home

[01:24:03] the

[01:24:03] goosebumps

[01:24:03] community

[01:24:04] who are

[01:24:05] sharing

[01:24:05] those

[01:24:06] experiences

[01:24:06] with us

[01:24:07] so

[01:24:07] it

[01:24:08] all

[01:24:08] comes

[01:24:08] back

[01:24:08] around

[01:24:08] it's

[01:24:09] been

[01:24:09] my

[01:24:09] pleasure

[01:24:10] I

[01:24:11] I'm

[01:24:26] far

[01:24:27] reach

[01:24:27] of

[01:24:27] our

[01:24:27] franchise

[01:24:27] like

[01:24:28] this

[01:24:28] but

[01:24:28] you

[01:24:29] know

[01:24:29] as

[01:24:30] you

[01:24:30] said

[01:24:30] you

[01:24:30] never

[01:24:30] know

[01:24:31] what

[01:24:31] you're

[01:24:32] going

[01:24:32] to

[01:24:32] get

[01:24:32] involved

[01:24:33] in

[01:24:33] and

[01:24:33] how

[01:24:34] what

[01:24:34] kind

[01:24:34] of

[01:24:34] impact

[01:24:34] it'll

[01:24:35] have

[01:24:35] until

[01:24:35] it's

[01:24:35] made

[01:24:36] that

[01:24:36] impact

[01:24:37] so

[01:24:37] exactly

[01:24:38] and

[01:24:38] you

[01:24:38] know

[01:24:39] working

[01:24:39] on

[01:24:39] this

[01:24:39] show

[01:24:39] it

[01:24:40] was

[01:24:40] a

[01:24:40] really

[01:24:57] very

[01:24:57] well

[01:24:58] prepared

[01:24:58] and

[01:24:59] and

[01:25:00] again

[01:25:01] you

[01:25:01] gotta

[01:25:01] get

[01:25:02] directors

[01:25:03] who

[01:25:04] are

[01:25:04] comfortable

[01:25:05] and enjoy

[01:25:06] working

[01:25:06] with

[01:25:07] kids

[01:25:08] so

[01:25:09] he

[01:25:10] needs

[01:25:10] you

[01:25:10] know

[01:25:10] they

[01:25:11] gotta

[01:25:12] hand

[01:25:12] pick

[01:25:12] those

[01:25:12] directors

[01:25:13] and

[01:25:13] Bill

[01:25:13] which

[01:25:14] I

[01:25:15] didn't

[01:25:15] know

[01:25:15] I

[01:25:15] did

[01:25:15] a

[01:25:15] little

[01:25:15] bit

[01:25:16] of

[01:25:16] research

[01:25:16] before

[01:25:16] I

[01:25:16] came

[01:25:17] on

[01:25:17] here

[01:25:17] today

[01:25:17] yeah

[01:25:17] I

[01:25:30] it's

[01:25:30] really

[01:25:30] cool

[01:25:32] so

[01:25:33] in other

[01:25:34] words

[01:25:34] for us

[01:25:34] it was

[01:25:35] a

[01:25:35] really

[01:25:35] nice

[01:25:36] positive

[01:25:37] experience

[01:25:37] not

[01:25:38] every

[01:25:38] production

[01:25:38] is

[01:25:38] like

[01:25:39] that

[01:25:39] no

[01:25:40] it's

[01:25:40] not

[01:25:40] but

[01:25:41] yeah

[01:25:41] this

[01:25:41] one

[01:25:42] definitely

[01:25:42] was

[01:25:42] in

[01:25:43] complete

[01:25:44] agreement

[01:25:45] with you

[01:25:45] Judah

[01:25:45] yeah

[01:25:45] oh

[01:25:46] I'll throw

[01:25:46] out one

[01:25:47] more name

[01:25:47] Steve

[01:25:47] Levitan

[01:25:48] the

[01:25:48] producer

[01:25:49] sweet

[01:25:50] sweet

[01:25:50] guy

[01:25:51] really

[01:25:51] nice

[01:25:52] guy

[01:25:52] yeah

[01:25:53] yeah

[01:25:53] we hope

[01:25:54] to talk

[01:25:54] with

[01:25:54] more people

[01:25:55] who work

[01:25:56] behind

[01:25:56] the

[01:25:56] scenes

[01:25:56] we've

[01:25:57] gotten

[01:25:57] to

[01:25:57] talk

[01:25:57] to

[01:25:57] a

[01:25:57] few

[01:25:57] but

[01:25:58] you

[01:25:59] know

[01:25:59] we're

[01:25:59] still

[01:25:59] working

[01:25:59] at

[01:26:00] it

[01:26:00] so

[01:26:01] hopefully

[01:26:01] one

[01:26:02] day

[01:26:02] but

[01:26:02] on

[01:26:03] that

[01:26:03] note

[01:26:03] we're

[01:26:04] going

[01:26:04] to

[01:26:04] leave

[01:26:05] this

[01:26:05] episode

[01:26:05] of the

[01:26:05] Goosebumps

[01:26:06] podcast

[01:26:07] off here

[01:26:08] today

[01:26:26] if

[01:26:27] you can

[01:26:27] follow

[01:26:27] on

[01:26:27] you

[01:26:29] can

[01:26:33] follow

[01:26:34] if

[01:26:34] you

[01:26:34] like

[01:26:34] today's

[01:26:35] episode

[01:26:35] make

[01:26:35] sure

[01:26:36] you

[01:26:36] have a

[01:26:36] like

[01:26:36] and

[01:26:36] comment

[01:26:37] and

[01:26:37] follow

[01:26:39] on

[01:26:41] YouTube

[01:26:42] social

[01:26:42] media

[01:26:43] and

[01:26:43] our

[01:26:44] audio

[01:26:44] platform

[01:26:44] North Carolina

[01:26:45] South Carolina

[01:26:49] and

[01:26:49] I'm sure

[01:26:50] they're so

[01:26:51] tiny in there

[01:26:51] Judah would like

[01:26:52] to say

[01:26:53] thank you all

[01:26:54] for watching

[01:26:54] we'll have a

[01:26:55] brand new

[01:26:55] next week
