[00:02:58] If you are tuning in for the first time

[00:03:01] Last week, we kicked things off for Goosetober

[00:03:04] By listing off the top 10 books that we would have loved to see

[00:03:07] As episodes of the 90s TV series

[00:03:10] Now we are in week 2 of Goosetober

[00:03:13] And this week, we are going to be taking you all to school

[00:03:16] The haunted school, that is

[00:03:18] With a little bit of a Goosebumps history lesson

[00:03:21] That's right

[00:03:21] We are going to run through Goosebumps' whole history

[00:03:25] By watching the fan-made documentary

[00:03:27] Goosebumps' The Saga of Scares

[00:03:30] This 2018 documentary, as I said, was fan-made

[00:03:34] It was uploaded to YouTube in October of 2018

[00:03:36] And today we are joined by the creator of that documentary

[00:03:40] Mr. Matt Rasmussen

[00:03:42] Matt, thank you for joining us today

[00:03:43] We're glad to have you

[00:03:45] Thank you so much for having me on the show, my friends

[00:03:48] This has been a long time in coming

[00:03:51] Yep, absolutely

[00:03:52] We are very glad to have you

[00:03:54] And as I said, this documentary has been out since 2018

[00:03:57] So it's been 6 years now

[00:03:59] I personally remember when the documentary dropped

[00:04:03] It was such an amazing, if you don't mind me being, you know, complimentary for a second

[00:04:09] It was a seriously amazing documentary

[00:04:12] It ran through the entire history of Goosebumps from its original inception

[00:04:16] To the present moment at that point in 2018

[00:04:19] Obviously a lot of stuff has happened since then

[00:04:21] But we'll get to that in a little while

[00:04:23] But this documentary covers all of Goosebumps from its original inception

[00:04:28] To the now and all the different series and avenues and evolutions it went through

[00:04:35] And it was a really, really great documentary

[00:04:37] And we're going to be watching that today

[00:04:39] And giving you guys a little rundown on the history of Goosebumps

[00:04:43] But before we dive into the video

[00:04:46] Let's get to know you a little more, Matt

[00:04:48] So, of course, you created the Saga of Scares

[00:04:51] And I guess it can be implied that you yourself are also a Goosebumps fan

[00:04:57] Massive, massive

[00:04:58] Before I started following Bjorn

[00:05:01] I thought I had the largest Goosebumps collection of all time

[00:05:04] No one can touch you, though

[00:05:06] Nobody can touch you

[00:05:08] Thank you

[00:05:10] Thank you

[00:05:11] I like hearing that

[00:05:14] Oh, you do, huh?

[00:05:17] Sounds a little egotistical on my part

[00:05:19] Honestly, like, I enjoy seeing other Goosebumps collections

[00:05:23] You know, even if someone's got, like, a shelf

[00:05:25] But you know what?

[00:05:26] Sometimes I'll see one shelf in someone's living room or whatever

[00:05:30] And they might have, like, one item I've never seen before

[00:05:32] And I'm like, holy shit!

[00:05:34] What is that?

[00:05:35] You know what I mean?

[00:05:37] How dare they?

[00:05:38] Yeah

[00:05:38] I know

[00:05:39] It was a big franchise

[00:05:40] It had so many things

[00:05:42] So you're bound to find something new every day

[00:05:44] But it's funny, too, because when I was a fan of Bjorns

[00:05:47] Before, you know, we became co-hosts on this podcast

[00:05:52] I, too, was very envious of his collection

[00:05:55] So that's why I've, you know, grown mine

[00:05:57] To be bigger and bigger and bigger

[00:06:00] To hopefully one day reach that level of collecting

[00:06:04] Maybe when I'm 48

[00:06:06] Yeah

[00:06:07] I'll get there

[00:06:08] 48, exactly

[00:06:10] That exact age

[00:06:11] Okay

[00:06:13] So tell us a little bit about how you got into Goosebumps

[00:06:17] Have you been a fan since you were a kid?

[00:06:20] Yes

[00:06:20] I grew up with Goosebumps

[00:06:23] I always loved, like, all the spooky stuff

[00:06:25] I started with

[00:06:26] Well, of course, Scary Stories of Tell in the Dark

[00:06:29] That came first

[00:06:29] That was my baby for a while

[00:06:32] And then Ghostbusters

[00:06:34] And anything else that was, like, a fun little

[00:06:36] You know, transition into, like, the really heavy stuff

[00:06:41] That's the world I lived in for a little while there

[00:06:43] And I did acclimate to Goosebumps

[00:06:47] As any 90s kid did

[00:06:49] Not just because it was the thing

[00:06:51] But, like, it's spooky

[00:06:54] And for once, all of my friends and everyone I know

[00:06:58] They love spooky things, like, right along with me

[00:07:01] Like, this was a huge deal for an 8-year-old

[00:07:05] Like, we can finally talk about spooky things

[00:07:08] Without it being weird 24-7

[00:07:12] Absolutely

[00:07:13] I mean, we all, as Goosebumps fans

[00:07:16] Probably had that time in our lives

[00:07:18] Where we were super into Goosebumps

[00:07:20] And everyone was just kind of like

[00:07:21] Yeah, okay

[00:07:23] Definitely me

[00:07:24] I was the only person on my whole block

[00:07:26] Of all the kids

[00:07:28] That was super into Goosebumps

[00:07:29] And I think they even told me at some point

[00:07:31] I was like, do you ever talk about anything

[00:07:33] Other than Goosebumps?

[00:07:34] And I was like, nope

[00:07:36] Why should there be?

[00:07:37] Yeah

[00:07:38] Nope, there is nothing else

[00:07:39] No, that's it

[00:07:42] There is only the bumps

[00:07:45] There's only the bumps

[00:07:46] The Goosebumps

[00:07:48] Now, this whole documentary

[00:07:50] That we're about to watch

[00:07:51] Is super well-researched

[00:07:54] And dives into many of the different book series

[00:07:57] Of Goosebumps

[00:07:58] Many of the different ventures

[00:08:01] That it went into

[00:08:03] Live shows

[00:08:04] TV shows

[00:08:05] Movies

[00:08:06] And everything else

[00:08:08] What was your experience

[00:08:09] With sort of the Goosebumps craze

[00:08:10] That was going on

[00:08:11] In the mid to late 90s?

[00:08:14] I was right there with it

[00:08:16] I wanted every single thing

[00:08:17] Like you were saying

[00:08:18] Every single thing

[00:08:19] That said Goosebumps on it

[00:08:20] I wanted it

[00:08:21] I wanted all the fast food toys

[00:08:23] I wanted all the stuff

[00:08:25] I've got a couple of the things here

[00:08:26] I wanted all the stuff

[00:08:32] And mainly I wanted all the books

[00:08:33] And I wanted to read every book

[00:08:35] And I wanted to read every book

[00:08:36] As fast as I could

[00:08:37] So basically every day

[00:08:39] I was just reading a new Goosebumps book

[00:08:42] And I just couldn't wait

[00:08:43] For the new one to come out

[00:08:44] And just the phenomenon

[00:08:46] That Goosebumps was

[00:08:47] I just let it carry me away

[00:08:50] That was my entire

[00:08:52] You know, 1990s

[00:08:54] Was Goosebumps

[00:08:54] And even when they stopped

[00:08:56] Printing Goosebumps

[00:08:57] Like I was still riding the wave

[00:09:00] Absolutely

[00:09:02] Well, and that's absolutely it

[00:09:04] Is like the 90s

[00:09:06] People forget in the 90s

[00:09:08] Before stuff like Harry Potter

[00:09:11] Came along

[00:09:11] Goosebumps was the big book series

[00:09:13] That was the thing

[00:09:15] Everybody knew about it

[00:09:17] In some way, shape, or form

[00:09:19] And as we always talk about

[00:09:21] Like there was always

[00:09:22] Some sort of thing

[00:09:23] That Goosebumps got its hands on

[00:09:25] Especially in the 90s

[00:09:26] I'm always telling people about

[00:09:27] Like, did you know Goosebumps

[00:09:28] Had a Disney stage show

[00:09:31] In the 90s?

[00:09:32] Did you know that there was

[00:09:34] Supposed to be a Goosebumps movie

[00:09:35] Directed by Tim Burton?

[00:09:37] And as we found out

[00:09:38] In the last few years

[00:09:39] George Romero was also

[00:09:41] Supposed to do a

[00:09:42] Welcome to Deadhouse movie

[00:09:43] Yes, that would have been cool

[00:09:45] Oh man

[00:09:46] Damn it

[00:09:48] And he was like

[00:09:49] At his peak at that time

[00:09:51] He was in his

[00:09:51] Why not both?

[00:09:53] Why couldn't we get

[00:09:53] Tim Burton and a

[00:09:55] George Romero

[00:09:56] You know what I mean?

[00:09:58] Or both

[00:09:58] Or like a

[00:09:59] Creepshow thing

[00:09:59] I said it for one

[00:10:00] Do like a Creepshow thing

[00:10:01] Where it's George Romero

[00:10:02] And Tim Burton

[00:10:03] Doing a Goosebumps movie

[00:10:04] That would have been

[00:10:05] Amazing

[00:10:06] That would have been great

[00:10:07] Oh man

[00:10:08] It would have been amazing

[00:10:09] God damn it

[00:10:10] Do you ever

[00:10:11] Do you remember

[00:10:12] What your favorite

[00:10:13] Goosebumps stories were

[00:10:14] Back when

[00:10:15] In the 90s?

[00:10:17] Oh absolutely

[00:10:17] Anything was slappy

[00:10:19] Like to me

[00:10:20] The scariest thing

[00:10:21] In existence

[00:10:22] Is something

[00:10:23] That's alive

[00:10:24] That has no business

[00:10:25] Being alive

[00:10:26] And really

[00:10:27] The actual

[00:10:29] The cover

[00:10:30] Of Night of the Living

[00:10:31] Dummy 1

[00:10:32] Is the thing

[00:10:33] That really made me

[00:10:35] Want to read

[00:10:35] The entire book series

[00:10:37] Just

[00:10:38] That

[00:10:38] That image is slappy

[00:10:40] It's iconic

[00:10:41] It's horrifying

[00:10:42] His pale blue eyes

[00:10:44] Like what

[00:10:45] What are the intents

[00:10:47] Of this

[00:10:47] This dummy

[00:10:48] So I

[00:10:49] Had to get into it

[00:10:51] From there

[00:10:52] It took a while

[00:10:52] Before I actually

[00:10:53] Finally read that one

[00:10:54] But

[00:10:55] Like

[00:10:55] That's

[00:10:56] That's

[00:10:57] That's what it was

[00:10:57] Like dummies

[00:10:59] Man

[00:11:00] Yeah

[00:11:00] Yeah

[00:11:01] It was me too

[00:11:02] I saw that book cover

[00:11:03] And I was like

[00:11:04] That's it

[00:11:04] I want every single

[00:11:06] One of them now

[00:11:07] I think that's

[00:11:08] Definitely what

[00:11:09] You know

[00:11:10] Sparked all

[00:11:11] A lot of interest

[00:11:12] In those books

[00:11:12] Was the cover

[00:11:13] I mean

[00:11:15] We praise this man

[00:11:16] All the time

[00:11:17] Tim Jacobus

[00:11:18] I mean

[00:11:18] He

[00:11:19] Knocked it out

[00:11:20] Of the

[00:11:21] Goddamn ballpark

[00:11:22] He did

[00:11:23] Art

[00:11:24] With that art

[00:11:26] As he once

[00:11:27] Told me

[00:11:27] He was like

[00:11:28] You know

[00:11:29] I was sort of

[00:11:30] Like the hook

[00:11:30] Like I was the one

[00:11:32] Who hooked you in

[00:11:33] To reading

[00:11:33] R.L. Stine's

[00:11:35] Stories

[00:11:36] And yeah

[00:11:37] Oh yeah

[00:11:38] He

[00:11:39] He was catching

[00:11:39] Live ones

[00:11:40] All the time

[00:11:41] While he's doing

[00:11:42] Buddy's face

[00:11:47] Yeah

[00:11:48] He was doing

[00:11:48] It like that

[00:11:52] Oh

[00:11:53] That's awesome

[00:11:54] I know

[00:11:56] Tim's modest

[00:11:57] But like

[00:11:59] I don't

[00:11:59] I know

[00:12:00] We told it

[00:12:00] To him too

[00:12:01] But I

[00:12:01] I truly

[00:12:02] Believe like

[00:12:03] Because the

[00:12:04] Story itself

[00:12:04] May be

[00:12:05] A stinker

[00:12:06] Because not

[00:12:06] All of

[00:12:06] Stein's

[00:12:07] Stories were

[00:12:08] Great

[00:12:09] We can sit

[00:12:10] Here and name

[00:12:10] Some but

[00:12:11] We're not

[00:12:11] Going to do

[00:12:12] That we've

[00:12:12] Done

[00:12:12] I think

[00:12:13] I'll name

[00:12:14] One

[00:12:15] Yep

[00:12:15] Yep

[00:12:16] Yep

[00:12:16] I love that

[00:12:17] One

[00:12:17] The cover

[00:12:19] Is

[00:12:19] The cover

[00:12:20] Is amazing

[00:12:21] Tim's art

[00:12:21] Is amazing

[00:12:22] And

[00:12:23] A lot of

[00:12:24] Credit has to

[00:12:25] Go to Tim

[00:12:25] For

[00:12:26] Goosebumps

[00:12:27] Success

[00:12:27] Because it's

[00:12:28] Not

[00:12:29] Stein's

[00:12:30] Stories you

[00:12:30] See on

[00:12:31] Merchandise

[00:12:31] It's

[00:12:32] Tim's art

[00:12:33] That you

[00:12:33] See on

[00:12:33] Merchandise

[00:12:34] That's right

[00:12:35] Well

[00:12:35] And that

[00:12:36] Art

[00:12:36] I mean

[00:12:37] Thank god

[00:12:38] That these

[00:12:38] Were not

[00:12:38] Picture books

[00:12:39] Because

[00:12:40] That art

[00:12:41] On the

[00:12:42] Cover

[00:12:42] Was the

[00:12:43] Perfect

[00:12:43] Scene setter

[00:12:45] For the

[00:12:45] Rest of

[00:12:46] The book

[00:12:46] And you

[00:12:46] Can imagine

[00:12:47] Like

[00:12:48] I can't be

[00:12:49] The only

[00:12:50] One that

[00:12:50] As a

[00:12:50] Kid

[00:12:51] If ever

[00:12:51] Like there

[00:12:52] Was

[00:12:52] Like slappy

[00:12:53] For example

[00:12:53] Like in

[00:12:54] The story

[00:12:55] I just

[00:12:56] Whenever

[00:12:57] Slappy

[00:12:57] Is on

[00:12:57] On like

[00:12:58] The page

[00:12:59] Like when

[00:12:59] They're describing

[00:13:00] Him

[00:13:01] That's what

[00:13:01] I see

[00:13:02] Like that

[00:13:03] Face

[00:13:03] On slappy

[00:13:05] That's what

[00:13:05] I see

[00:13:06] And that's

[00:13:06] All you

[00:13:07] Need

[00:13:07] Like

[00:13:08] Sometimes

[00:13:08] The most

[00:13:09] Terrifying

[00:13:10] Things

[00:13:10] Are what

[00:13:11] You can

[00:13:11] Imagine

[00:13:12] And not

[00:13:13] Necessarily

[00:13:13] Like

[00:13:14] Pictures

[00:13:15] In a

[00:13:15] Book

[00:13:15] You know

[00:13:16] What I

[00:13:16] Mean

[00:13:17] But that

[00:13:18] Artwork

[00:13:18] Just always

[00:13:19] Managed to

[00:13:20] Do the

[00:13:20] Job

[00:13:20] And

[00:13:21] That's

[00:13:21] Part of

[00:13:22] The success

[00:13:22] Of the

[00:13:23] Series

[00:13:23] Right

[00:13:23] Is we

[00:13:24] Got to

[00:13:24] Use our

[00:13:25] Imaginations

[00:13:26] And we

[00:13:27] Got to

[00:13:27] Decide

[00:13:28] Kind of

[00:13:29] How things

[00:13:29] Looked

[00:13:30] Apart from

[00:13:30] The cover

[00:13:31] Art

[00:13:31] And just

[00:13:32] Stein let

[00:13:33] Us open

[00:13:33] Up our

[00:13:34] Minds

[00:13:35] And we

[00:13:35] Just

[00:13:36] Our minds

[00:13:37] Ran wild

[00:13:38] Well that

[00:13:39] Actually leads

[00:13:40] Me into my

[00:13:40] Next question

[00:13:41] Is what

[00:13:42] Do you

[00:13:43] Think about

[00:13:43] Like how

[00:13:44] Goosebumps

[00:13:44] You know

[00:13:45] Changed a

[00:13:46] Generation of

[00:13:47] Kids

[00:13:48] Not just

[00:13:49] In the

[00:13:49] 90s but

[00:13:49] Continues to

[00:13:50] I myself

[00:13:52] I was not

[00:13:52] A 90s kid

[00:13:53] I grew up

[00:13:53] In the

[00:13:54] 2000s

[00:13:54] But I

[00:13:55] Read

[00:13:55] Goosebumps

[00:13:56] And funny

[00:13:57] Enough

[00:13:58] I started

[00:13:59] Reading

[00:13:59] Goosebumps

[00:13:59] At a time

[00:14:00] Where I

[00:14:00] Was not

[00:14:01] Interested

[00:14:01] At all

[00:14:02] In reading

[00:14:03] But when

[00:14:04] I got

[00:14:04] To

[00:14:04] Goosebumps

[00:14:05] Suddenly

[00:14:05] I was

[00:14:05] Reading

[00:14:06] Books

[00:14:07] Every week

[00:14:07] I was

[00:14:07] Going

[00:14:09] And then

[00:14:09] I was

[00:14:10] Going to

[00:14:10] Write

[00:14:11] My own

[00:14:12] Stories

[00:14:12] So

[00:14:12] And it

[00:14:13] Did that

[00:14:13] For so

[00:14:13] Many

[00:14:14] Other kids

[00:14:14] So what

[00:14:15] Do you

[00:14:15] Think about

[00:14:15] How the

[00:14:16] Impact

[00:14:16] How the

[00:14:17] Those stories

[00:14:17] Had on

[00:14:18] Generations of

[00:14:20] Kids who are

[00:14:20] Now adults

[00:14:22] Speaking from

[00:14:23] Experience I'm

[00:14:24] Eternally grateful

[00:14:25] For those

[00:14:26] Books

[00:14:26] Like not

[00:14:27] Only did

[00:14:28] They get me

[00:14:29] Into reading

[00:14:29] As I

[00:14:30] Wasn't really

[00:14:31] Much of a

[00:14:32] Reader apart

[00:14:32] From like

[00:14:32] Scary stories

[00:14:33] Of telling

[00:14:33] The dark

[00:14:34] Like that

[00:14:34] It got me

[00:14:36] Into reading

[00:14:36] And it got

[00:14:37] Me into

[00:14:38] Writing my

[00:14:39] Own goosebump

[00:14:39] Stories

[00:14:40] Which then

[00:14:41] Led to

[00:14:41] Writing movie

[00:14:43] Scripts

[00:14:43] And then it

[00:14:44] Went into

[00:14:45] Making movies

[00:14:46] And then

[00:14:47] Writing other

[00:14:47] Horror stories

[00:14:48] And so

[00:14:49] Like it all

[00:14:50] Kind of spanned

[00:14:51] From there

[00:14:53] Like it

[00:14:54] Just opened

[00:14:55] Up the

[00:14:55] Imagination

[00:14:56] And told

[00:14:57] Kids that

[00:14:59] It's okay

[00:15:00] To express

[00:15:00] Yourself

[00:15:01] Like it's

[00:15:02] Okay to be

[00:15:03] Spooky

[00:15:03] And

[00:15:05] You don't

[00:15:06] Know how

[00:15:06] Much I

[00:15:07] Needed that

[00:15:07] As a

[00:15:08] Little eight

[00:15:08] Year

[00:15:09] Old spooky

[00:15:09] Kid

[00:15:10] That's what

[00:15:10] I needed

[00:15:11] Definitely

[00:15:12] I absolutely

[00:15:14] Agree

[00:15:14] And you're

[00:15:16] Absolutely right

[00:15:16] Like just

[00:15:17] The

[00:15:18] The thing

[00:15:19] That you

[00:15:20] Can do

[00:15:20] As a

[00:15:21] Writer is

[00:15:22] Give those

[00:15:22] Kids the

[00:15:23] Chance to

[00:15:24] Express themselves

[00:15:25] And then you

[00:15:26] Create more

[00:15:27] Artists through

[00:15:27] That and

[00:15:28] That's exactly

[00:15:29] What goosebumps

[00:15:29] Did

[00:15:30] Unbelievably

[00:15:31] So I

[00:15:32] We come across

[00:15:32] People all

[00:15:33] The time

[00:15:33] Who are like

[00:15:34] Reading goosebumps

[00:15:35] Is what made

[00:15:36] Me want to

[00:15:36] Become

[00:15:37] Like a

[00:15:38] Filmmaker

[00:15:39] Or a

[00:15:40] Horror writer

[00:15:41] Or stuff

[00:15:42] Like that

[00:15:43] Like just

[00:15:43] They get

[00:15:44] Inspired by

[00:15:45] Those things

[00:15:46] And goosebumps

[00:15:46] Is just a

[00:15:47] Franchise that

[00:15:47] Like it did

[00:15:49] That for so

[00:15:50] Many kids

[00:15:50] And I'm

[00:15:52] Absolutely right

[00:15:52] There with you

[00:15:53] I'm eternally

[00:15:54] Grateful

[00:15:54] For that

[00:15:56] And one

[00:15:57] Thing that

[00:15:57] You got

[00:15:58] To make

[00:15:58] Was the

[00:15:59] Goosebumps

[00:16:00] Saga of

[00:16:01] Scares

[00:16:01] Documentary

[00:16:02] So how

[00:16:03] Did that

[00:16:03] Idea come

[00:16:04] Along

[00:16:05] Like what

[00:16:06] Went into

[00:16:07] Making

[00:16:08] That sort

[00:16:09] Of broad

[00:16:10] Oral history

[00:16:11] Of goosebumps

[00:16:12] There's

[00:16:13] There's a

[00:16:13] Lot kind

[00:16:14] Of leading

[00:16:14] Up to this

[00:16:15] So after

[00:16:16] I started

[00:16:16] Working in

[00:16:17] Films and

[00:16:18] TV

[00:16:18] You know

[00:16:19] I'd start

[00:16:19] Making my

[00:16:20] Own little

[00:16:20] Short films

[00:16:21] And I

[00:16:22] Started working

[00:16:22] In news

[00:16:23] And my

[00:16:25] Buddy and

[00:16:25] I every

[00:16:26] Year we'd

[00:16:26] Make our

[00:16:27] Own like

[00:16:27] Fake little

[00:16:28] News show

[00:16:29] For Halloween

[00:16:29] It would

[00:16:30] Be a

[00:16:30] Halloween

[00:16:30] Special

[00:16:31] Every year

[00:16:31] And I

[00:16:33] Wanted to

[00:16:34] Make kind

[00:16:35] Of like a

[00:16:35] Reporter style

[00:16:36] Package on

[00:16:37] Something

[00:16:38] And I

[00:16:39] Made a

[00:16:39] Few you

[00:16:40] Know silly

[00:16:40] Ones about

[00:16:41] You know

[00:16:41] Whatever

[00:16:42] But I

[00:16:43] Wanted to

[00:16:43] Specifically

[00:16:44] Do a

[00:16:44] Timeline

[00:16:45] About

[00:16:46] Something

[00:16:48] And I

[00:16:49] Didn't know

[00:16:49] If I could

[00:16:49] Tackle

[00:16:50] Goosebumps

[00:16:50] At the

[00:16:50] Time

[00:16:51] So I

[00:16:51] Tackled

[00:16:51] Other things

[00:16:52] For a

[00:16:52] Little bit

[00:16:53] And

[00:16:55] Looking at

[00:16:56] It as

[00:16:56] Like a

[00:16:57] News report

[00:16:57] And just

[00:16:58] Explaining

[00:16:59] The timeline

[00:17:00] I figured

[00:17:01] I can

[00:17:02] Finally

[00:17:02] Do goosebumps

[00:17:03] And the

[00:17:04] Idea hit me

[00:17:05] In 2015

[00:17:05] When the

[00:17:06] Movie was

[00:17:06] Announced

[00:17:07] Well

[00:17:07] Actually

[00:17:08] 2014

[00:17:08] When it

[00:17:09] Was announced

[00:17:09] I was like

[00:17:10] Well

[00:17:10] Maybe that

[00:17:11] Can be my

[00:17:11] Next video

[00:17:12] For this

[00:17:13] Coming year

[00:17:14] So then

[00:17:14] I started

[00:17:15] Laying out

[00:17:15] Footage

[00:17:17] I started

[00:17:18] Tracking down

[00:17:18] Everything I

[00:17:19] Could

[00:17:20] Specifically

[00:17:21] From those

[00:17:22] Video promos

[00:17:23] From the

[00:17:23] Old VHS

[00:17:25] Tapes

[00:17:25] That was

[00:17:26] The backbone

[00:17:27] To me

[00:17:28] I was like

[00:17:28] At least

[00:17:29] We have

[00:17:29] Some visuals

[00:17:30] So it

[00:17:31] Won't be

[00:17:31] Just

[00:17:32] You know

[00:17:33] Narration

[00:17:33] The whole

[00:17:34] Time

[00:17:35] And that's

[00:17:36] That's kind

[00:17:36] Of what I

[00:17:36] Started with

[00:17:37] And I

[00:17:37] Thought it

[00:17:38] Would be

[00:17:38] Like a

[00:17:38] Five minute

[00:17:39] Video

[00:17:39] If that

[00:17:41] Everything

[00:17:42] Else had

[00:17:42] Been pretty

[00:17:43] Short up

[00:17:43] To that

[00:17:44] Point

[00:17:45] And

[00:17:47] It became

[00:17:48] Clear

[00:17:48] That there

[00:17:50] Was way

[00:17:51] More to

[00:17:51] Tell

[00:17:52] Than just

[00:17:53] Here's

[00:17:54] Here's the

[00:17:54] 90s and

[00:17:55] Here's this

[00:17:56] And here's

[00:17:56] Now and

[00:17:57] The movie

[00:17:57] Was coming

[00:17:58] Out so

[00:17:58] There was

[00:17:58] So much

[00:17:59] More to

[00:17:59] Talk about

[00:18:00] There so

[00:18:01] It became

[00:18:01] Something that

[00:18:02] Was years

[00:18:02] In the making

[00:18:03] And it

[00:18:04] It really

[00:18:05] Expanded from

[00:18:06] What was

[00:18:06] Supposed to

[00:18:07] Be a little

[00:18:07] Five minute

[00:18:08] Video to

[00:18:08] This 45

[00:18:09] Minute

[00:18:10] Full length

[00:18:10] Bohemoth

[00:18:11] That we

[00:18:12] See today

[00:18:14] And that's

[00:18:15] That's the

[00:18:17] Origins of

[00:18:17] Where it

[00:18:18] Came from

[00:18:18] Really

[00:18:18] It was just

[00:18:19] Supposed to

[00:18:19] Be a little

[00:18:20] Throwaway

[00:18:21] Video for

[00:18:21] Our halloween

[00:18:22] Special

[00:18:23] And it's

[00:18:24] On

[00:18:24] Yeah

[00:18:26] And on

[00:18:27] Your youtube

[00:18:27] Channel

[00:18:28] Where it

[00:18:28] Was uploaded

[00:18:30] If I'm not

[00:18:31] Mistaken

[00:18:31] Is your

[00:18:31] Most

[00:18:32] Viewed

[00:18:33] Video

[00:18:33] Most popular

[00:18:34] Video

[00:18:34] Very close

[00:18:36] To a

[00:18:36] Million

[00:18:37] Views

[00:18:38] At last

[00:18:38] Check

[00:18:39] So it's

[00:18:40] It's getting

[00:18:41] There so

[00:18:42] It's becoming

[00:18:42] We can get

[00:18:42] There let's

[00:18:43] Let's bump

[00:18:43] That up

[00:18:44] Let's get

[00:18:44] It up

[00:18:44] Those are

[00:18:45] Rookie

[00:18:46] Numbers

[00:18:47] This is your

[00:18:49] Home

[00:18:49] You need to

[00:18:50] Get that

[00:18:50] Video to a

[00:18:51] Million

[00:18:51] Views

[00:18:52] Right now

[00:18:55] I think

[00:18:55] We can do

[00:18:56] It by the

[00:18:56] I think we

[00:18:58] Can do it

[00:18:58] By the

[00:18:58] Anniversary

[00:18:59] Next year

[00:19:00] Of the

[00:19:00] The movie

[00:19:01] The 10

[00:19:01] Year anniversary

[00:19:02] Of the movie

[00:19:03] Let's

[00:19:03] Let's bump

[00:19:03] That up

[00:19:04] Yep

[00:19:04] Let's get

[00:19:05] It by

[00:19:05] That point

[00:19:05] 30th

[00:19:06] Anniversary

[00:19:06] Of the

[00:19:06] TV show

[00:19:07] So

[00:19:08] No

[00:19:08] Whammy

[00:19:09] Let's

[00:19:09] Get

[00:19:09] It's a

[00:19:10] Big year

[00:19:12] Huge year

[00:19:13] Yeah

[00:19:14] Year of

[00:19:14] Goosebumps

[00:19:15] Right there

[00:19:15] Next year

[00:19:16] 2025

[00:19:17] So let's

[00:19:17] Get it

[00:19:18] To get

[00:19:18] Yeah

[00:19:20] Absolutely

[00:19:20] And it's

[00:19:21] Funny

[00:19:21] It's

[00:19:22] Really funny

[00:19:23] Because

[00:19:23] I myself

[00:19:24] Before

[00:19:25] We

[00:19:25] Started

[00:19:26] This podcast

[00:19:26] Did some

[00:19:27] Of my

[00:19:28] Own

[00:19:28] Goosebumps

[00:19:28] Videos

[00:19:29] I even

[00:19:29] Funny enough

[00:19:30] Did a

[00:19:31] History video

[00:19:32] Of my own

[00:19:32] Though it was

[00:19:33] Vastly

[00:19:34] In my opinion

[00:19:35] It was vastly

[00:19:35] Inferior

[00:19:37] But I did watch it

[00:19:38] You did some good

[00:19:39] Work

[00:19:39] Don't shortchange

[00:19:41] Yourself my friend

[00:19:41] It was a good

[00:19:42] Video

[00:19:43] It was definitely

[00:19:44] It was an attempt

[00:19:45] I'll just

[00:19:46] Comment

[00:19:47] But

[00:19:48] It was even

[00:19:49] Funny too

[00:19:50] Because yeah

[00:19:51] You weren't

[00:19:51] Kidding when you

[00:19:51] Said you

[00:19:52] You scoured

[00:19:53] For footage

[00:19:53] You found

[00:19:54] Stuff like

[00:19:54] Cause I also

[00:19:55] Do all the

[00:19:56] The promo

[00:19:58] Compilations

[00:19:58] And I was

[00:19:59] Still like

[00:19:59] Really trying

[00:20:00] To find

[00:20:00] Stuff at

[00:20:01] The time

[00:20:01] So I

[00:20:02] Remember

[00:20:02] When I

[00:20:02] Watched

[00:20:03] That video

[00:20:03] And I

[00:20:04] Was like

[00:20:04] Oh

[00:20:05] I never

[00:20:05] Saw that

[00:20:06] Before

[00:20:06] Like

[00:20:06] I need

[00:20:06] To find

[00:20:07] That

[00:20:07] So

[00:20:09] It was

[00:20:09] So funny

[00:20:10] But

[00:20:11] Yeah

[00:20:11] It is a

[00:20:12] Very

[00:20:13] Cohesive

[00:20:14] Timeline

[00:20:15] Of goosebumps

[00:20:16] And I

[00:20:17] Commend you

[00:20:17] Very greatly

[00:20:18] For that

[00:20:18] But

[00:20:19] Yeah

[00:20:20] Thank you

[00:20:21] It is

[00:20:22] Always

[00:20:22] Great

[00:20:23] To see

[00:20:24] Sort of

[00:20:24] Like

[00:20:24] Even

[00:20:25] Something

[00:20:25] That you

[00:20:25] Initially

[00:20:26] See

[00:20:26] As like

[00:20:27] A throwaway

[00:20:27] Thing

[00:20:27] Or something

[00:20:28] That's

[00:20:29] Just

[00:20:29] Kind of

[00:20:29] Like

[00:20:29] A

[00:20:30] One time

[00:20:30] Get it

[00:20:31] Done

[00:20:31] Thing

[00:20:31] Just

[00:20:32] For fun

[00:20:32] Grow

[00:20:33] Into

[00:20:33] Something

[00:20:34] Much

[00:20:34] Bigger

[00:20:35] Much

[00:20:35] More

[00:20:36] Elaborate

[00:20:36] And thus

[00:20:37] Becomes

[00:20:37] A lot

[00:20:37] More

[00:20:38] Popular

[00:20:38] Because

[00:20:39] Of it

[00:20:40] It's

[00:20:41] Always

[00:20:41] The

[00:20:42] Great

[00:20:42] Evolution

[00:20:43] Of a

[00:20:43] Project

[00:20:43] When an

[00:20:44] Artist

[00:20:45] Goes

[00:20:45] Through

[00:20:45] It

[00:20:45] So

[00:20:46] 100%

[00:20:47] But

[00:20:48] We've

[00:20:49] Chit

[00:20:49] Chatted

[00:20:49] On

[00:20:50] For

[00:20:50] Quite

[00:20:50] A while

[00:20:50] Now

[00:20:51] So

[00:20:51] Why don't

[00:20:52] We go

[00:20:52] Ahead

[00:20:52] And watch

[00:20:53] This

[00:20:53] Documentary

[00:20:54] Now

[00:20:56] Goosebumps

[00:20:56] Let's

[00:20:57] Get

[00:20:57] Into

[00:20:57] The

[00:20:57] Nitty

[00:20:57] Gritties

[00:20:58] Alrighty

[00:20:58] Guys

[00:20:59] So

[00:20:59] Get

[00:20:59] Ready

[00:20:59] We're

[00:21:00] Going

[00:21:00] To

[00:21:00] Be

[00:21:00] Watching

[00:21:00] Goosebumps

[00:21:01] The

[00:21:02] Saga

[00:21:02] Of

[00:21:02] Scares

[00:21:03] Goosebumps

[00:21:04] Is

[00:21:04] Rated

[00:21:04] GB7

[00:21:05] Because

[00:21:05] It

[00:21:05] May

[00:21:05] Be

[00:21:05] Too

[00:21:06] Spooky

[00:21:06] For

[00:21:06] Children

[00:21:07] Under

[00:21:07] Seven

[00:21:08] I

[00:21:08] Had

[00:21:08] To

[00:21:09] Throw

[00:21:09] That

[00:21:09] Part

[00:21:09] In

[00:21:10] I

[00:21:10] Had

[00:21:10] To

[00:21:10] Throw

[00:21:10] That

[00:21:29] This

[00:21:29] Is

[00:21:29] How

[00:21:29] Goosebumps

[00:21:30] Visually

[00:21:31] Was

[00:21:31] Introduced

[00:21:32] To

[00:21:32] The

[00:21:32] World

[00:21:33] Hello

[00:21:34] And

[00:21:35] Then

[00:21:35] I'm

[00:21:35] R.L.

[00:21:36] Contrast

[00:21:37] With

[00:21:37] The

[00:21:37] Past

[00:21:38] And

[00:21:38] The

[00:21:38] Present

[00:21:39] I'm

[00:21:39] Yep

[00:21:40] R.L.

[00:21:42] And

[00:21:42] Who

[00:21:42] Is

[00:21:42] That

[00:21:42] R.L.

[00:21:43] Although

[00:21:44] There

[00:21:44] Have

[00:21:44] Been

[00:21:44] Many

[00:21:45] Imitators

[00:21:45] Over

[00:21:45] The

[00:21:45] Years

[00:21:46] There

[00:21:46] Is

[00:21:46] That

[00:21:46] R.L.

[00:21:48] It

[00:21:49] May

[00:21:49] Very

[00:21:50] Well

[00:21:50] Be

[00:21:50] The

[00:21:50] Most

[00:21:50] Successful

[00:21:51] Children's

[00:21:52] Author

[00:21:52] Of

[00:21:52] All

[00:21:52] Time

[00:21:53] With

[00:21:53] The

[00:21:53] You

[00:21:54] Pull

[00:21:54] Off

[00:21:55] Thank

[00:21:56] You

[00:21:57] That's

[00:21:57] How

[00:21:57] I

[00:21:57] Dressed

[00:21:57] When

[00:21:58] I

[00:21:58] Had

[00:21:58] To

[00:21:58] Go

[00:21:58] See

[00:21:58] R.L.

[00:21:59] Stine

[00:21:59] In

[00:21:59] Person

[00:22:00] Viewer

[00:22:00] Beware

[00:22:02] Viewers

[00:22:03] Beware

[00:22:03] You're

[00:22:04] In

[00:22:04] For

[00:22:05] A

[00:22:05] Scare

[00:22:07] Since

[00:22:10] I

[00:22:11] Was

[00:22:11] Nine

[00:22:11] Years

[00:22:12] Old

[00:22:12] I

[00:22:12] Found

[00:22:12] The

[00:22:13] Here's

[00:22:13] The

[00:22:13] First

[00:22:23] Of

[00:22:24] So

[00:22:24] I

[00:22:25] Had

[00:22:25] To

[00:22:25] Dig

[00:22:25] Up

[00:22:25] Whatever

[00:22:26] I

[00:22:26] Could

[00:22:26] From

[00:22:26] DVDs

[00:22:27] And

[00:22:27] What

[00:22:27] Have

[00:22:28] You

[00:22:28] To

[00:22:28] Like

[00:22:28] Throw

[00:22:29] In

[00:22:29] A

[00:22:29] Little

[00:22:29] Background

[00:22:30] Info

[00:22:31] From

[00:22:31] Him

[00:22:32] Hopefully

[00:22:32] One

[00:22:33] Day

[00:22:33] An

[00:22:34] Update

[00:22:34] Can

[00:22:34] Be

[00:22:54] Interview

[00:22:54] Oh

[00:22:56] Oh

[00:22:56] Oh

[00:22:57] There

[00:22:58] You

[00:22:58] Go

[00:22:59] That's

[00:22:59] Proposition

[00:23:00] Right

[00:23:00] There

[00:23:02] Yeah

[00:23:02] Yeah

[00:23:03] Tales

[00:23:03] From

[00:23:04] The

[00:23:04] Crypt

[00:23:04] And

[00:23:05] The

[00:23:05] Vault

[00:23:05] Of

[00:23:06] Horror

[00:23:06] They

[00:23:07] Were

[00:23:07] Groosome

[00:23:07] Bloody

[00:23:08] Comics

[00:23:09] They

[00:23:09] Were

[00:23:09] Oh

[00:23:09] I

[00:23:09] Just

[00:23:10] Loved

[00:23:11] Them

[00:23:11] For

[00:23:24] To

[00:23:25] Try

[00:23:25] Doing

[00:23:25] Twilight

[00:23:26] Zone

[00:23:28] His

[00:23:28] Love

[00:23:28] For

[00:23:28] Horror

[00:23:29] R.L.

[00:23:29] Stein

[00:23:29] Would

[00:23:30] Pen

[00:23:53] The

[00:23:55] Because

[00:23:56] He

[00:23:56] Had

[00:23:56] Always

[00:23:57] Told

[00:23:57] The

[00:23:57] Story

[00:23:57] About

[00:23:58] I

[00:23:58] Think

[00:23:58] He

[00:23:58] Saw

[00:23:58] In

[00:23:59] A

[00:23:59] TV

[00:24:00] Guide

[00:24:00] Itself

[00:24:00] The

[00:24:01] Goosebumps

[00:24:01] Week

[00:24:02] But

[00:24:03] Yeah

[00:24:03] It's

[00:24:04] Cool

[00:24:04] That

[00:24:04] The

[00:24:04] Actual

[00:24:05] Promo

[00:24:05] Itself

[00:24:06] Exists

[00:24:07] Because

[00:24:08] You

[00:24:08] Can

[00:24:08] Say

[00:24:08] That's

[00:24:09] Where

[00:24:09] It

[00:24:09] Came

[00:24:09] From

[00:25:44] Ago

[00:25:44] So

[00:25:45] Oh

[00:25:46] Well

[00:25:46] But

[00:25:47] One

[00:25:47] Thing

[00:25:47] I

[00:25:47] Actually

[00:25:48] Want

[00:25:48] To

[00:25:48] Bring

[00:25:48] Up

[00:25:48] Really

[00:25:48] Quick

[00:25:49] Before

[00:25:49] We

[00:25:49] Move

[00:25:50] On

[00:25:50] From

[00:25:50] The

[00:25:50] Original

[00:25:50] Series

[00:25:51] I

[00:25:52] Actually

[00:25:52] Found

[00:25:52] Out

[00:25:53] I

[00:25:53] Don't

[00:25:53] Remember

[00:25:53] What

[00:25:54] Source

[00:25:54] It

[00:25:54] Was

[00:25:54] But

[00:25:55] Actually

[00:25:55] They

[00:25:56] Were

[00:25:56] Originally

[00:25:57] Contractually

[00:25:57] Obligated

[00:25:58] To

[00:25:58] Just

[00:26:03] Even

[00:26:03] Though

[00:26:04] They

[00:26:04] Sold

[00:26:04] Well

[00:26:06] Scholastic

[00:26:07] Wasn't

[00:26:07] Ready

[00:26:08] Yet

[00:26:08] To

[00:26:09] Move

[00:26:09] On

[00:26:10] With

[00:26:10] Expanding

[00:26:11] The

[00:26:11] Series

[00:26:12] I

[00:26:13] Actually

[00:26:14] Think

[00:26:14] It

[00:26:14] Wasn't

[00:26:14] Until

[00:26:15] Let's

[00:26:15] Get

[00:26:15] Invisible

[00:26:16] That

[00:26:16] They

[00:26:16] Were

[00:26:16] Like

[00:26:17] Alright

[00:26:17] We'll

[00:26:18] Do

[00:26:18] More

[00:26:18] So

[00:26:19] You

[00:26:19] Mean

[00:26:20] We

[00:26:20] Were

[00:26:20] This

[00:26:21] Close

[00:26:21] To

[00:26:21] Just

[00:26:22] Not

[00:26:22] Getting

[00:26:22] Slappy

[00:26:23] Book

[00:26:23] Seven

[00:26:24] Oh

[00:26:24] Yeah

[00:26:24] Oh

[00:26:25] Man

[00:26:25] What

[00:26:26] A sin

[00:26:26] That

[00:26:26] Would

[00:26:27] Have

[00:26:27] Been

[00:26:28] But

[00:26:29] It

[00:26:29] Crazy

[00:26:29] And

[00:26:30] I

[00:26:33] Said

[00:26:33] That

[00:26:34] The

[00:26:34] Goosebumps

[00:26:35] Books

[00:26:35] Were

[00:26:35] Intended

[00:26:36] More

[00:26:36] For

[00:26:38] Girls

[00:26:38] Rather

[00:26:39] Than

[00:26:39] Sort

[00:26:39] Of

[00:26:39] Like

[00:26:40] You

[00:26:41] Know

[00:26:42] Protagonists

[00:26:43] In

[00:26:43] Those

[00:26:43] Books

[00:26:44] A lot

[00:26:44] Of

[00:26:44] Them

[00:26:44] Like

[00:26:45] The

[00:26:45] First

[00:26:46] Book

[00:26:46] Is

[00:26:46] Literally

[00:26:46] Amanda

[00:26:47] Right

[00:26:47] So

[00:26:49] She's

[00:26:49] The

[00:26:49] Main

[00:26:50] character

[00:26:51] Welcome

[00:26:51] To

[00:26:51] Dead

[00:26:52] House

[00:26:52] Is

[00:26:52] Just

[00:26:52] Oh

[00:26:53] Man

[00:26:53] That

[00:26:54] Book

[00:26:54] Has

[00:26:54] Just

[00:26:54] Grown

[00:26:55] And

[00:26:55] Grown

[00:26:55] On

[00:26:55] Me

[00:26:55] Over

[00:26:56] The

[00:26:56] Years

[00:26:56] It's

[00:26:56] Like

[00:26:56] Up

[00:26:57] There

[00:26:57] In

[00:26:57] The

[00:26:57] Top

[00:26:57] Five

[00:26:58] Now

[00:26:58] But

[00:26:59] Just

[00:26:59] To

[00:26:59] Imagine

[00:26:59] That

[00:27:00] Goosebumps

[00:27:00] Was

[00:27:01] This

[00:27:01] Close

[00:27:01] To

[00:27:02] Just

[00:27:02] Being

[00:27:02] Six

[00:27:03] Books

[00:27:03] Only

[00:27:04] And

[00:27:04] Probably

[00:27:05] Wouldn't

[00:27:05] Have

[00:27:05] Hit

[00:27:05] That

[00:27:06] Mark

[00:27:06] No

[00:27:07] Slappy

[00:27:08] No

[00:27:08] Horned

[00:27:09] Mask

[00:27:09] Oh

[00:27:10] My

[00:27:10] God

[00:27:11] Yeah

[00:27:11] Oh

[00:27:12] My

[00:27:12] God

[00:27:12] That's

[00:27:13] A lot

[00:27:13] Of

[00:27:13] Us

[00:27:14] Probably

[00:27:14] Never

[00:27:14] Would

[00:27:14] Have

[00:27:15] Ever

[00:27:15] Discovered

[00:27:16] Goosebumps

[00:27:16] Had

[00:27:16] They

[00:27:17] Just

[00:27:17] Killed

[00:27:17] It

[00:27:29] No

[00:27:30] No

[00:27:30] That

[00:27:31] That

[00:27:31] Universe

[00:27:32] Can

[00:27:33] Piss

[00:27:33] Right

[00:27:33] Off

[00:27:33] Yep

[00:27:34] Yep

[00:27:35] Yep

[00:27:37] Tales

[00:27:38] To

[00:27:38] Give

[00:27:39] You

[00:27:39] Goosebumps

[00:27:39] Would

[00:27:40] Expand

[00:27:40] The

[00:27:40] Goosebumps

[00:27:41] Name

[00:27:41] Producing

[00:27:42] Six

[00:27:42] Special

[00:27:43] Edition

[00:27:43] Books

[00:27:43] And

[00:27:44] Deluxe

[00:27:44] Gift

[00:27:44] Sets

[00:27:45] Each

[00:27:45] Offer

[00:27:45] Terrifying

[00:27:46] Short

[00:27:47] Stories

[00:27:47] Also

[00:27:48] In

[00:27:49] Special

[00:27:49] Edition

[00:27:49] Reprints

[00:27:50] This

[00:27:50] Series

[00:27:51] Is

[00:27:51] Also

[00:27:51] Notable

[00:27:51] For

[00:27:52] Individually

[00:27:52] Introducing

[00:27:53] The

[00:27:53] Goosebumps

[00:27:54] Appointed

[00:27:54] Scott

[00:27:54] Curly

[00:27:55] The

[00:27:56] Skeleton

[00:27:56] Although

[00:27:57] Never

[00:27:57] Featured

[00:27:57] As

[00:27:58] A

[00:27:58] Character

[00:27:58] The

[00:27:59] Master

[00:27:59] Of

[00:27:59] Scaramonies

[00:28:00] Was

[00:28:00] Dreamed

[00:28:00] Up

[00:28:00] By

[00:28:01] Scholastic

[00:28:01] Marketing

[00:28:01] To

[00:28:02] Give

[00:28:02] An

[00:28:02] Identifiable

[00:28:03] Face

[00:28:03] To

[00:28:03] Goosebumps

[00:28:04] Merchandise

[00:28:05] Also

[00:28:06] Created

[00:28:06] Would

[00:28:07] Be

[00:28:07] A

[00:28:07] File

[00:28:07] Of

[00:28:07] Spooky

[00:28:08] Clip

[00:28:08] Art

[00:28:08] The

[00:28:09] Familiar

[00:28:09] G

[00:28:09] Splat

[00:28:10] Symbol

[00:28:10] And

[00:28:10] The

[00:28:11] Catchphrase

[00:28:12] Of

[00:28:12] A

[00:28:12] Generation

[00:28:15] And

[00:28:15] It

[00:28:16] Wouldn't

[00:28:16] Take

[00:28:16] Long

[00:28:16] Before

[00:28:17] Establishing

[00:28:17] The

[00:28:18] Goosebumps

[00:28:18] Fan

[00:28:19] Club

[00:28:19] Write

[00:28:20] Us

[00:28:20] To

[00:28:20] Get

[00:28:20] Information

[00:28:21] On

[00:28:29] Stories

[00:28:29] And

[00:28:30] Early

[00:28:30] Merchandising

[00:28:31] Including

[00:28:32] I don't

[00:28:33] Know how

[00:28:34] Legally I

[00:28:34] Could

[00:28:35] But I

[00:28:35] Could

[00:28:35] Try

[00:28:37] You know

[00:28:38] Like

[00:28:38] How long

[00:28:39] Does this

[00:28:40] Go for

[00:28:40] Again

[00:28:40] Forty

[00:28:40] Five

[00:28:40] Forty

[00:28:41] Six

[00:28:41] Minutes

[00:28:41] So

[00:28:41] If

[00:28:42] You

[00:28:42] Do

[00:28:42] Part

[00:28:42] Two

[00:28:42] And

[00:28:43] It

[00:28:43] Goes

[00:28:43] Over

[00:28:44] An

[00:28:44] Hour

[00:28:45] An

[00:28:45] Hour

[00:28:45] And

[00:28:45] A

[00:28:45] Half

[00:28:45] That's

[00:28:46] When

[00:28:46] It

[00:28:46] Can

[00:28:47] Have

[00:28:47] Its

[00:28:47] Official

[00:28:48] DVD

[00:28:48] I'd

[00:28:49] Watch

[00:28:49] This

[00:28:50] Yeah

[00:28:52] We

[00:28:52] Could

[00:28:52] Do

[00:28:53] More

[00:28:53] More

[00:28:53] Movies

[00:28:53] Theater

[00:28:54] Screen

[00:28:54] I

[00:28:54] Did

[00:28:54] Screen

[00:28:55] This

[00:28:55] A

[00:28:55] Couple

[00:28:55] Times

[00:28:56] Theatrically

[00:28:56] And

[00:28:57] It

[00:28:57] Turned

[00:28:58] Out

[00:28:58] Well

[00:28:58] I

[00:29:11] Can

[00:29:11] At

[00:29:11] Horror

[00:29:12] Land

[00:29:12] Happens

[00:29:12] Maybe

[00:29:13] A

[00:29:14] Screening

[00:29:14] Is

[00:29:15] In

[00:29:15] Order

[00:29:17] I'll

[00:29:18] Come

[00:29:18] In

[00:29:18] Right

[00:29:18] Now

[00:29:19] Yeah

[00:29:20] We

[00:29:20] Could

[00:29:20] Play

[00:29:21] It

[00:29:21] There

[00:29:21] For

[00:29:21] Sure

[00:29:22] Yeah

[00:29:23] That's

[00:29:23] Why

[00:29:23] We

[00:29:24] Gotta

[00:29:24] Make

[00:29:24] Horror

[00:29:24] Land

[00:29:24] Happen

[00:29:25] Well

[00:29:26] This

[00:29:27] Could

[00:29:27] Be

[00:29:27] For

[00:29:28] The

[00:29:28] People

[00:29:28] Who

[00:29:28] Are

[00:29:28] Too

[00:29:28] Familiar

[00:29:29] With

[00:29:29] Goosebumps

[00:29:30] That

[00:29:30] Show

[00:29:30] Up

[00:29:30] To

[00:29:31] The

[00:29:31] Event

[00:29:31] We

[00:29:31] Could

[00:29:31] Have

[00:29:31] This

[00:29:31] Playing

[00:29:32] In

[00:29:32] A

[00:29:32] Corner

[00:29:32] If

[00:29:32] You

[00:29:32] Need

[00:29:33] To

[00:29:33] Familiarize

[00:29:33] Go

[00:29:34] Over

[00:29:34] There

[00:29:34] Watch

[00:29:35] That

[00:29:35] Do

[00:29:36] It

[00:29:36] Clockwork

[00:29:37] Orange

[00:29:37] Style

[00:29:37] Where

[00:29:38] You

[00:29:38] Hold

[00:29:38] Your

[00:29:38] Eyes

[00:29:38] Open

[00:29:39] Like

[00:29:39] That

[00:29:39] And

[00:29:39] They

[00:29:40] Just

[00:29:40] Like

[00:29:40] Get

[00:29:40] Little

[00:29:40] Eye

[00:29:41] Drops

[00:29:42] You

[00:29:43] Must

[00:29:43] Know

[00:29:43] All

[00:29:43] About

[00:29:44] It

[00:29:44] I

[00:29:45] Must

[00:29:45] Say

[00:29:46] I

[00:29:46] Really

[00:29:46] Love

[00:29:46] The

[00:29:47] Effect

[00:29:47] Of

[00:29:47] Like

[00:29:48] The

[00:29:49] Transition

[00:29:49] Effect

[00:29:49] On

[00:29:50] The

[00:29:50] Books

[00:29:51] When

[00:29:52] You

[00:29:52] Have

[00:29:52] To

[00:29:53] Show

[00:29:53] A

[00:29:53] Different

[00:29:53] Special

[00:29:54] Edition

[00:29:54] It's

[00:29:55] Like

[00:29:55] A

[00:29:55] Slime

[00:29:55] Transition

[00:29:56] Oh

[00:29:56] Yeah

[00:29:56] Yeah

[00:29:57] That's

[00:29:57] A

[00:29:58] Really

[00:29:58] Cool

[00:29:58] Transition

[00:29:59] That's

[00:29:59] Really

[00:29:59] Creative

[00:30:23] I

[00:30:24] Formula

[00:30:24] For

[00:30:24] The

[00:30:33] With

[00:30:33] The

[00:30:34] Familiar

[00:30:34] Goosebumps

[00:30:35] Twists

[00:30:35] And

[00:30:35] Turns

[00:30:35] We've

[00:30:36] All

[00:30:36] Come

[00:30:36] To

[00:30:36] Know

[00:30:36] And

[00:30:37] Love

[00:30:37] Presented

[00:30:37] With

[00:30:39] The

[00:30:40] Unpredictable

[00:30:40] Gamebook

[00:30:41] Series

[00:30:41] Would

[00:30:42] Also

[00:30:42] Become

[00:30:42] Massively

[00:30:43] Popular

[00:30:43] Challenging

[00:30:44] Readers

[00:30:44] To

[00:30:45] Fight

[00:30:45] Their

[00:30:45] Way

[00:30:45] Through

[00:30:46] Over

[00:30:46] 20

[00:30:46] Different

[00:30:47] Scary

[00:30:47] Endings

[00:30:48] One

[00:30:49] Thing

[00:30:49] I

[00:30:49] Must

[00:30:49] Say

[00:30:50] Too

[00:30:54] To

[00:36:40] Care

[00:36:40] If

[00:36:40] They're

[00:36:40] Talking

[00:36:40] In

[00:36:58] Because

[00:36:59] We

[00:36:59] Want

[00:36:59] To

[00:36:59] See

[00:36:59] How

[00:37:00] Good

[00:37:00] It

[00:37:00] Looks

[00:37:00] I

[00:37:01] Want

[00:37:02] Even

[00:37:02] Though

[00:37:02] Snappy

[00:37:03] Is

[00:37:03] Probably

[00:37:03] Like

[00:37:11] Than

[00:37:11] An

[00:37:11] Angry

[00:39:34] Version

[00:39:35] That's

[00:39:35] On

[00:39:37] But

[00:39:38] It's

[00:39:38] The

[00:39:38] That

[00:39:38] Has

[00:39:38] Uncle

[00:39:39] Al

[00:39:40] But

[00:39:41] There's

[00:39:41] Another

[00:39:41] One

[00:39:42] That

[00:39:43] I

[00:39:44] Only

[00:39:44] Know

[00:39:45] It

[00:39:46] Was

[00:39:46] On

[00:39:46] A

[00:39:46] VHS

[00:39:47] For

[00:39:48] But

[00:39:48] I

[00:39:49] For

[00:39:49] The

[00:39:52] It

[00:39:53] Was

[00:39:54] Just

[00:39:54] One

[00:39:54] Where

[00:39:55] It

[00:39:55] Was

[00:39:55] Like

[00:39:55] It

[00:39:55] Was

[00:39:55] Just

[00:39:56] A

[00:39:56] Plain

[00:39:56] Announcer

[00:39:57] And

[00:39:57] It

[00:40:10] Saw

[00:40:10] There

[00:40:11] Was

[00:40:11] A

[00:40:11] Clip

[00:40:11] From

[00:40:12] The

[00:40:12] Night

[00:40:16] That

[00:40:16] Was

[00:40:16] One

[00:40:16] Of

[00:40:16] Those

[00:40:17] Things

[00:40:17] That

[00:40:17] I

[00:40:17] Was

[00:40:17] Like

[00:40:18] I

[00:40:18] Never

[00:40:18] Seen

[00:40:19] That

[00:40:19] Before

[00:40:19] I

[00:40:19] Need

[00:40:19] To

[00:40:19] Find

[00:40:20] It

[00:40:20] And

[00:40:20] It

[00:40:20] Took

[00:40:20] Me

[00:40:21] Years

[00:40:21] But

[00:40:22] I

[00:40:22] Found

[00:40:22] It

[00:40:22] I

[00:40:22] Think

[00:40:23] It

[00:40:23] Was

[00:40:23] On

[00:40:28] Oh

[00:40:28] Yes

[00:40:29] And

[00:40:30] I

[00:40:30] Was

[00:40:31] Shooting

[00:40:31] Shots

[00:40:31] Dark

[00:40:32] And

[00:40:33] I

[00:40:33] Found

[00:40:33] It

[00:40:33] And

[00:40:34] I

[00:40:34] Was

[00:40:34] Like

[00:40:34] Holy

[00:42:53] VHS

[00:42:54] Tapes

[00:42:54] I

[00:42:54] Will

[00:42:54] Never

[00:42:55] Escap

[00:42:55] Popular

[00:42:55] Enough

[00:42:56] To

[00:43:11] The

[00:43:11] Basement

[00:43:12] Videos

[00:43:13] Yeah

[00:43:13] The

[00:43:14] Pizza Hut

[00:43:15] Coupons

[00:43:16] And

[00:43:16] The

[00:43:19] For

[00:43:19] The

[00:43:23] I

[00:43:24] Don't

[00:43:24] Yeah

[00:43:24] I

[00:43:25] Went

[00:43:25] Out

[00:43:25] Of

[00:43:25] My

[00:43:25] Way

[00:43:26] Before

[00:43:26] I

[00:43:26] Found

[00:43:26] Out

[00:43:26] That

[00:43:27] We're

[00:43:27] All

[00:43:27] Oops

[00:43:27] I'm

[00:43:28] Sorry

[00:43:28] Go

[00:43:28] Ahead

[00:43:28] No

[00:43:29] No

[00:43:29] No

[00:43:29] No

[00:43:29] I

[00:43:30] Was

[00:43:30] Just

[00:43:30] Going

[00:43:30] To

[00:43:30] Say

[00:43:31] I

[00:43:31] I

[00:43:31] Gone

[00:43:31] Out

[00:43:32] Of

[00:43:32] My

[00:43:32] Way

[00:43:32] To

[00:43:32] Find

[00:43:32] Tapes

[00:43:33] That

[00:43:33] Have

[00:43:33] That

[00:43:34] Stuff

[00:43:34] In

[00:43:34] If

[00:43:34] I

[00:43:35] Ever

[00:43:35] Find

[00:43:35] One

[00:43:35] In

[00:43:36] The

[00:43:36] Wild

[00:43:36] I

[00:43:37] Think

[00:43:37] I

[00:43:37] Found

[00:43:37] A

[00:43:37] Night

[00:43:38] In

[00:43:38] Terror

[00:43:38] Tower

[00:43:38] Tape

[00:43:39] That

[00:43:39] Had

[00:43:39] The

[00:43:39] Little

[00:43:40] Lenticular

[00:43:40] Card

[00:43:41] Trading

[00:43:42] Card

[00:43:42] Inside

[00:43:42] And

[00:43:43] I

[00:43:43] Was

[00:43:43] Like

[00:43:46] Yeah

[00:43:46] Same

[00:43:47] Like

[00:43:47] Just

[00:43:47] The

[00:43:48] Pullouts

[00:43:48] That's

[00:43:49] All

[00:43:49] I

[00:43:49] Look

[00:43:49] For

[00:43:49] With

[00:43:49] The

[00:43:50] Books

[00:43:50] Or

[00:43:50] The

[00:43:50] Tapes

[00:43:51] Like

[00:43:51] I

[00:44:03] All

[00:44:03] Up

[00:44:04] Before

[00:44:04] We

[00:44:04] Found

[00:44:05] Out

[00:44:05] About

[00:44:05] The

[00:44:06] Goosebumps

[00:44:06] Wiki

[00:44:07] Which

[00:44:07] Now

[00:44:07] Has

[00:44:08] All

[00:44:08] These

[00:44:08] Pictures

[00:44:08] Of

[00:44:08] These

[00:44:09] Things

[00:44:10] Yeah

[00:44:11] It's

[00:44:11] Funny

[00:44:11] How

[00:44:12] All

[00:44:12] That

[00:44:12] Stuff

[00:44:13] Is

[00:44:13] There

[00:44:13] But

[00:44:13] Before

[00:44:13] The

[00:44:14] Wiki

[00:44:14] You

[00:44:14] Know

[00:44:14] That

[00:44:15] Was

[00:44:15] It

[00:44:15] You

[00:44:15] Had

[00:44:15] To

[00:44:16] Just

[00:44:16] Scan

[00:44:17] The

[00:44:17] Pictures

[00:44:17] And

[00:44:18] Use

[00:44:18] Those

[00:44:19] But

[00:44:20] These

[00:44:20] TV

[00:44:21] Special

[00:44:21] Book

[00:44:22] Has

[00:44:24] The

[00:44:26] UK

[00:44:26] Versions

[00:44:27] Did

[00:44:27] You

[00:44:27] Know

[00:44:27] That

[00:44:27] The

[00:44:27] UK

[00:44:28] Once

[00:44:28] Wow

[00:44:30] Interesting

[00:44:30] So

[00:44:31] This

[00:44:31] Has

[00:44:32] As

[00:44:34] The

[00:44:34] Second

[00:44:34] You

[00:44:35] Know

[00:44:35] So

[00:44:35] It's

[00:44:36] Like

[00:44:36] The

[00:44:36] Short

[00:44:36] Version

[00:44:36] Of

[00:44:37] Say

[00:44:37] Cheese

[00:44:37] And

[00:44:37] Die

[00:44:37] Like

[00:44:38] You

[00:44:38] Would

[00:44:38] Have

[00:44:38] In

[00:44:38] A

[00:44:38] TV

[00:44:39] Book

[00:44:39] Just

[00:44:39] No

[00:44:39] Color

[00:44:40] Photos

[00:44:40] But

[00:44:40] It

[00:44:41] Is

[00:44:41] Still

[00:44:41] What

[00:44:42] The

[00:44:42] Story

[00:44:42] Would

[00:44:42] Have

[00:44:42] Been

[00:44:42] If

[00:44:43] They

[00:44:43] Done

[00:44:44] You

[00:44:44] Know

[00:44:44] Like

[00:44:45] The

[00:44:45] American

[00:44:45] Version

[00:44:45] So

[00:44:46] There

[00:44:46] Is

[00:44:46] Actually

[00:44:48] The

[00:44:49] Now

[00:44:49] You

[00:44:53] Made

[00:44:54] It

[00:44:54] Even

[00:44:54] Harder

[00:44:54] For

[00:44:54] Me

[00:44:55] Cause

[00:44:55] I

[00:44:55] Gotta

[00:44:55] Get

[00:44:55] Those

[00:44:56] Now

[00:44:56] Oh

[00:44:57] Man

[00:44:57] Those

[00:44:58] Those

[00:44:59] Presents

[00:44:59] Sparks

[00:45:00] Man

[00:45:00] Oh

[00:45:01] Gotta

[00:45:01] Get

[00:45:02] The

[00:45:02] UK

[00:45:02] Ones

[00:45:02] I

[00:45:02] Was

[00:45:03] Lucky

[00:45:03] Enough

[00:45:03] To

[00:45:03] Get

[00:45:04] A

[00:45:04] Revenge

[00:45:04] Of

[00:45:04] The

[00:45:05] Lawn

[00:45:05] Gnomes

[00:45:05] Through

[00:45:05] A

[00:45:06] Trade

[00:45:06] A

[00:45:06] Pretty

[00:45:08] Honestly

[00:45:08] Decent

[00:45:09] Trade

[00:45:09] Too

[00:45:10] So

[00:45:10] That's

[00:45:10] The

[00:45:11] Only

[00:45:11] One

[00:45:11] Of

[00:45:11] The

[00:45:11] Three

[00:45:11] Big

[00:45:12] Ones

[00:45:12] That

[00:45:12] I

[00:45:12] Have

[00:45:13] Right

[00:45:13] Now

[00:45:14] Still

[00:45:14] Gotta

[00:45:15] Get

[00:45:15] Jack

[00:45:15] O'lantern

[00:45:16] Calling

[00:45:16] All

[00:45:16] Creeps

[00:45:17] But

[00:45:17] I'm

[00:45:17] Not

[00:45:17] Rich

[00:45:17] Enough

[00:45:18] Yet

[00:45:18] So

[00:45:19] At

[00:45:19] At

[00:45:19] At

[00:45:19] At

[00:45:39] Goosebumps

[00:45:52] Would

[00:45:52] Team

[00:45:53] Up

[00:45:53] For

[00:45:53] An

[00:45:53] Exclusive

[00:45:54] Halloween

[00:45:55] Promotion

[00:45:56] Featuring

[00:45:56] Us

[00:45:57] That

[00:45:57] One

[00:45:57] Deluding

[00:45:58] Me

[00:45:58] Which

[00:46:00] One

[00:46:00] Bride

[00:46:01] Of

[00:46:09] I'm

[00:46:09] Missing

[00:46:09] That

[00:46:10] One

[00:46:10] And

[00:46:11] I've

[00:46:11] Not

[00:46:11] Seen

[00:46:12] One

[00:46:12] It's

[00:46:13] Crazy

[00:46:13] I

[00:46:13] Know

[00:46:14] Somebody

[00:46:14] Has

[00:46:14] One

[00:46:14] But

[00:46:14] They

[00:46:14] Won't

[00:46:15] Part

[00:46:15] With

[00:46:15] It

[00:46:17] That's

[00:46:18] One

[00:46:18] Of

[00:46:18] The

[00:46:18] First

[00:46:18] Ones

[00:46:19] I

[00:46:19] Found

[00:46:19] Like

[00:46:19] Oddly

[00:46:20] Enough

[00:46:20] Like

[00:46:21] When

[00:46:21] People

[00:46:22] Were

[00:46:22] Just

[00:46:23] Giving

[00:46:24] Away

[00:46:24] Their

[00:46:24] VHS

[00:46:25] I

[00:46:25] Got

[00:46:25] The

[00:46:25] First

[00:46:26] Three

[00:46:27] Haunted

[00:46:28] It

[00:46:29] Was

[00:46:29] Haunted

[00:46:29] Mask

[00:46:29] Night

[00:46:30] Night

[00:46:30] And

[00:46:31] Terror

[00:46:31] Tower

[00:46:31] And

[00:46:32] Stay

[00:46:32] Out

[00:46:32] Of

[00:46:32] The

[00:46:32] Basement

[00:46:32] For

[00:46:33] A

[00:46:33] Dollar

[00:46:33] Each

[00:46:34] When

[00:46:35] I

[00:46:35] First

[00:46:35] Started

[00:46:35] Collecting

[00:46:36] They were

[00:46:37] Just

[00:46:37] Giving

[00:46:38] Them

[00:46:38] Away

[00:46:38] It

[00:47:01] At

[00:47:01] Point

[00:47:01] There's

[00:47:02] Even

[00:47:02] Return

[00:47:03] Of

[00:47:03] The

[00:47:03] UK

[00:47:06] Lucky

[00:47:08] So

[00:47:09] Much

[00:47:09] Stuff

[00:47:09] I

[00:47:09] Gotta

[00:47:09] Get

[00:47:10] Those

[00:47:10] Two

[00:47:11] I

[00:47:12] Gotta

[00:47:15] Give

[00:47:15] Special

[00:47:16] Attention

[00:47:16] To

[00:47:16] That

[00:47:17] Whole

[00:47:17] Give

[00:47:17] Me

[00:47:18] Goosebumps

[00:47:19] Target

[00:47:19] Promotion

[00:47:20] Yes

[00:47:21] Oh

[00:47:22] Man

[00:47:22] I

[00:47:23] Wish

[00:47:23] Wish

[00:47:24] I

[00:47:25] Was

[00:47:25] Alive

[00:47:26] To

[00:47:26] Experience

[00:47:26] That

[00:47:27] Oh

[00:47:28] Man

[00:47:28] As

[00:47:29] Someone

[00:47:29] Who

[00:47:29] Lived

[00:47:30] It

[00:47:31] The

[00:47:32] Absolute

[00:47:32] High

[00:47:32] Of

[00:47:33] Goosebumps

[00:47:34] Mania for me like walking into target and seeing everything is goosebumps like Halloween that was the greatest Halloween of all time all time it'll never get like that again they even had like an animated like displays where curly was moving and shit like it was like oh my god

[00:47:59] If anyone can find that stuff that would be the holy grail as far as far as I'm concerned that would be worth quite a pretty penny if somebody has that right now uh which is funny because that's what bjorn and i like when we talk about promo stuff or whatever we're like god we just had a time machine we wouldn't go back and get vhs's or anything like that we'd take all the promo shit like all the standees and the cardboard like signs and things like that we would take all that stuff.

[00:48:27] And i just feel like don't be more than the merch is be like don't throw out a goddamn thing

[00:48:36] Well like there was a random um random uh episode of round the twist i think it was the astray that australian show run twist and it was like there was a scene where they were in this store and like this guy like gets pushed over and he ends up like falling onto a goosebumps display and it's like for the escape from horror land game and it's literally like

[00:48:57] a stand with the thing on there and i'm like they even had a stand for that do you know what i mean so i would love to just go back and that's australian so we had it even here

[00:49:07] that that's the stuff i want i don't care about the merch anymore i want the promo stuff you know

[00:49:12] this like this you know was even able to find yeah the promo design for all that stuff back in the 90s was just top notch

[00:49:20] like agreed how they had everything for displays even like we've talked uh on here actually recently with

[00:49:28] like aj good from the house of masks the color scheme that they went with in the 90s for goosebumps just

[00:49:33] when you see that like the purples the teal and the the green it's like instantly you're like

[00:49:39] are captivated because you know it's goosebumps yeah and because they put it on everything

[00:49:43] it has that brand recognition to it and uh i actually found the raw b-roll footage that was

[00:49:50] used in a news report um of that like uh display not everything was in there but you can see like

[00:49:57] the like stacks of like books and vhs tapes and there was like goosebumps shoes and socks and

[00:50:05] shirts and stuff like that like that's coming up yep yeah it's amazing i have so many pairs of those

[00:50:12] shoes now yeah my favorite ones actually the ghost camp ones that you got me nick i think those ones

[00:50:17] are just so unique because they actually did ghost camp shoes like of all the books they chose they

[00:50:22] randomly did that it was just like you know sweepstakes book drive newly released videos and the spooky

[00:50:30] sound effects recording goosebumps sounds of halloween on sound cassette and compact disc halloween 1996

[00:50:37] would also offer us the goosebumps trilogy later repackaged into the goosebumps haunted library

[00:50:43] consisting of three exclusive mini books available and specially marked products of pepsi hershey's and

[00:50:48] doritos you're watching the doritos fox halloween horror night look for these displays wherever i have

[00:50:53] that display no i have that display disney adventures also gave us a first look at what

[00:51:00] goosebumps books on tape from walt disney records featuring a full voice cast and cinematic sound

[00:51:06] effects all of which except goosebumps awareness at all time high everyone seemed to catch goosebumps

[00:51:16] welcome to dead house like impossible to find yeah that one i think was given away in a contest so

[00:51:23] there was like very few ones made but it exists and uh it's expensive i got it oh do you got it you

[00:51:33] want to see it got it no uh i think you need to put it on the youtubes now yep maybe that's true that's

[00:51:41] your homework bjorn you need to rip that audio and put it on youtube for us for us okay that'll be my next

[00:51:50] video and this image right here girl i was about to ask nowadays we should get her on the podcast

[00:51:59] we should get i was gonna say that too get her on the podcast yeah yeah i think you should yeah

[00:52:05] that would be great it's just like the the gursperms girl

[00:52:15] that's the title that would be the title of the episode we can have her like recreate this too

[00:54:55] knows we'll have to see if she's even willing to come on at that point yeah you'll get goosebumps

[00:55:01] which would lead the way for another successful pc game attack of the mutant featuring the voice

[00:55:06] talents of jim belushi and batman himself don't you know you have to help me save the world it's

[00:55:14] exactly what dreamworks interactive was trying to accomplish one thing it did without trying

[00:55:18] feed goosebumps fever which now seems to be reaching epidemic proportions coming down from the

[00:55:24] lawns the slights all that two unofficial goosebumps books would also be published it came from ohio

[00:55:31] and it came from new jersey served as autobiography books from the great minds behind the whole store

[00:55:36] is empty oh and look there's color photos inside they're so good they're so good it's scary

[00:55:43] spawning several fan sites and chat rooms goosebumps would soon take on a life online

[00:55:47] scholastic would begin spreading awareness by advertising their official goosebumps the website

[00:55:53] featuring games recipes downloads and even writing tips from author rl stein although not all news online

[00:56:00] would be positive goosebumps book sales would begin to slip in 1997 dropping the scholastic profit margin

[00:56:06] by over 40 percent although goosebumps products were still popping up everywhere and now when you buy

[00:56:12] two or more handy snacks you can get the latest goosebumps book kfc has four goosebumps books get your

[00:56:17] goosebumps hologram in every steered's breath pack goosebumps collectively creepy trading cards

[00:56:22] goosebumps screaming tea chain goosebumps fruit roll-ups goosebumps intimidator goosebumps glow and tell

[00:56:29] story card sets goosebumps back to school items goosebumps activity packs goosebumps terror tower

[00:56:34] goosebumps goosebumps collectibles goosebumps milk care goosebumps board games goosebumps flick

[00:56:39] goosebumps giveaway goosebumps goosebumps goosebumps goosebumps goosebumps goosebumps

[00:56:48] including this awesome goosebumps scream machine available in plastic cover and pocket size

[00:56:58] then goosebumps that's my favorite piece of merch that ever happened is that little scream machine

[00:57:04] that oh god what what an amazing how brilliant how brilliant how brilliant hold on it's literally slappy talking to you because he's like and you calling me a dummy

[00:57:14] it is basically slappy talking to you

[00:57:20] ah there it is

[00:57:24] i couldn't even find mine from today i know it exists it's just buried somewhere in all this stuff but like damn that would

[00:57:31] have been cool to play with today yeah one day you'll be asleep and you'll just hear in the background

[00:57:36] that's goosebumps get goosebumps

[00:57:41] oh

[00:57:43] but that's like just the i i i will say really quick i just love how this thing looks because it looks like

[00:57:49] a goosebumps book and uh actually when i first got it i was like oh can you open this because there's

[00:57:55] like a crease in the middle that makes it look like it can pop open but i'm like nope and i'm not going to

[00:58:01] try to i'm not going to try to pry that open for fear of losing that just being like little nuts and

[00:58:09] bolts inside that's all you're going to find yeah the short nothing but shatter is featuring a hologram

[00:58:16] on each cover and a new three-headed character by the names of slim lefty and righty three times scarier

[00:58:23] goosebumps triple header three stories in one monstrous book three times scarier

[00:58:30] but by the end of 1997 the goosebumps juggernaut would begin to shrink back in popularity and after

[00:58:36] 62 phenomenal books the original series would eventually come to an end to make way for something

[00:58:43] new and little did we know that a demand for scarier books and an increase in the competition

[00:58:49] would ultimately lead to the start of the darkest chapter of goosebumps it's not in your closet it's not

[00:58:57] under your bed it's coming for you the best-selling book series is getting scarier

[00:59:04] well that promo that's that's that's the way to end anything that promo

[00:59:13] the future seems so bright it did start of the decline where did it go wrong

[00:59:19] walking harry potter yep yes by the start of 1998 goosebumps merchandise could still be found oozing the

[00:59:28] world over t-shirts hats gloves shoes slipper socks it seemed that maybe goosebumps fatigue had begun to

[00:59:38] set in and then we would get goosebumps series 2000 a slightly new direction for the series which

[00:59:59] would attempt to meet the demand for the series the sequel series was devised as a much-needed

[01:00:04] a facelift to revitalize the brand, and this tactic would help keep the Goosebumps name

[01:00:09] alive for a few more screams, encouraging readers to enter the new millennium of fear.

[01:00:15] Enter the new millennium of fear. Goosebumps series 2000 by R.L. Stein.

[01:00:21] Wherever books are sold. Get ready to be scared. Really scared.

[01:00:25] I love Stays for thousands.

[01:00:27] Despite what was seen as an expensive gamble in the fall of 1998, Goosebumps was adapted

[01:00:33] for a lavish new stage show at select theme parks and locations.

[01:00:37] Follow me to a place where creepy things crawl and monsters grow 60 feet tall.

[01:00:44] Oh, look how much fun they're having.

[01:00:48] Goosebumps live on stage coming fall 1998.

[01:00:52] It is absolutely criminal.

[01:00:54] It's absolutely criminal that the live on stage show, besides that promo, there's no other footage for it.

[01:01:01] There's been a few pictures, but it's still so shrouded in mystery.

[01:01:09] Hopefully one day footage surfaces.

[01:01:13] There's footage of it out there on some camcorder.

[01:01:15] There has to be.

[01:01:16] There has to be.

[01:01:18] It's just a matter of...

[01:01:19] Someone's with family videos from other times.

[01:01:25] There could be literally just a random camcorder out there where someone's at Disneyland one second,

[01:01:31] walking around doing something, and then there's 30 seconds of the Goosebumps show,

[01:01:35] and then it cuts to them eating dinner.

[01:01:37] It's like, can we have just that 30 seconds?

[01:01:40] I don't care.

[01:01:41] Yeah.

[01:01:42] Give it to them.

[01:01:43] That'd be great.

[01:01:44] And just, you know, one day.

[01:01:47] One day.

[01:01:47] There's always stuff getting discovered and added, so hopefully one day it'll surface.

[01:01:52] Also slipping out a scaly book adaption by R.L. Stine.

[01:01:56] And after four seasons, the TV series would unfortunately get the axe,

[01:02:00] and book sales would continue to slip whilst nearing the new millennium.

[01:02:04] And despite revamped cover art and several special editions,

[01:02:08] there was just no stopping the competition.

[01:02:11] They may not last forever.

[01:02:12] It won't be long before Goosebumps...

[01:02:14] Such an ironic, like, just fall from grace story.

[01:02:17] Unfortunately, they would.

[01:02:19] While surrounded by a legal dispute between Parachute Press and Scholastic,

[01:02:23] R.L. Stine's contract would ultimately run out,

[01:02:26] leaving The Ghost in the Mirror,

[01:02:28] an all-day nightmare as the final Goosebumps books to be printed in early January and February 2000,

[01:02:35] leaving several titles unpublished,

[01:02:37] including The Untitled Give Yourself Goosebumps No. 43,

[01:02:41] A Proposed New Goosebumps Triple Header, Book No. 3,

[01:02:44] and The Incredible Shrinking 5th Grader, Goosebumps Series 2000 No. 26.

[01:02:49] And as we've talked about in a previous episode talking about the lost Goosebumps books,

[01:02:56] not only the 26th Series 2000,

[01:02:59] but 14 other Series 2000 books that were initially proposed.

[01:03:05] There was actually supposed to be 40 Series 2000 books total.

[01:03:09] Only 25 got released.

[01:03:11] And a 19th Presents book, The Blob They Ate Everyone, was also scrapped.

[01:03:18] And that was the only one that was advertised on the back of a book.

[01:03:21] It just never came out.

[01:03:22] That's true.

[01:03:24] So many books gone just like that.

[01:03:28] What were they going to be?

[01:03:30] Oh, my God.

[01:03:31] Well, probably a lot of them became Nightmare Room stories, potentially.

[01:03:36] Yep.

[01:03:36] Nightmare Room or some of the standalone books that Stein was doing around that time, too.

[01:03:42] A lot of people have thought like, you know, like Zombie Town was one of them.

[01:03:48] First Day of School Forever was probably going to be one of them.

[01:03:52] So who knows?

[01:03:54] But unfortunately, we just did not get it.

[01:03:57] And there's one other one that we're going to be finding out about in a second here.

[01:04:00] Other books, such as Nightmare Hour and The Haunting Hour, he would make an attempt to keep Goosebumps alive with a proposed new series.

[01:04:10] Goosebumps Gold would have launched in 2001, with titles including The Haunted Mask Lives, Happy Holidays from Dead House, and Slappy New Year.

[01:04:19] But the series would never come to be, and most readers would have already shifted to Scholastic's next most popular book series, Harry Potter.

[01:04:27] For that, the series would slip off the map and wouldn't see the light of day for many years to come.

[01:04:33] R.L. Stine would attempt a new series launch with the release of The Nightmare Room, books, TV series, and subsequent home videos, which would also become short-lived.

[01:04:42] Although the times would turn and an agreement would be settled between Perichute Press and Scholastic in 2003,

[01:04:48] R.L. Stine would make hopeful remarks regarding the Goosebumps series, stating that he'd like to develop new Goosebumps titles in the future.

[01:04:55] But in the meantime, Scholastic would only be interested in re-releasing old titles to test the market.

[01:05:02] Goosebumps books reissues would begin to give the series a new life.

[01:05:06] Scholastic would...

[01:05:08] What was that?

[01:05:10] Why would they do 57 and not just do the 62?

[01:05:13] Yeah, they got lazy with those last couple.

[01:05:17] Yeah.

[01:05:18] Well, yeah.

[01:05:19] Like, werewolf skin, live in your basement, and monster blood, but also Phantom of the Auditorium and Legend of the Lost Legend for some very odd reason did not get re-releases.

[01:05:30] Yeah, why did you look at it?

[01:05:31] Like, that's weird.

[01:05:33] I don't know.

[01:05:34] It's so weird.

[01:05:36] So odd.

[01:05:36] They just can't do math, I guess.

[01:05:38] I don't know.

[01:05:39] Nope.

[01:05:40] They also can't finish a job properly.

[01:05:45] Print second editions of the classic Goosebumps series with revamped cover designs and a couple of new illustrations by original cover artist Tim Jacobus.

[01:05:55] I mean, it was cool you did that.

[01:05:56] It was cool.

[01:05:58] I have met people, though, that say that the original Jim Thiessen art for Stay Out of the Basement is better.

[01:06:07] Well, Tim Jacobus' is good, but the original is just kind of better for what the ominous nature of the story was going for.

[01:06:15] I think that one's fine to be careful what you wish for one, though.

[01:06:18] I think that one's okay.

[01:06:19] I think that one is an improvement.

[01:06:21] I think that one worked better than the original, in my opinion.

[01:06:25] I think those were good, but Stay Out of the Basement was definitely better than Tim's, unfortunately.

[01:06:31] Love Tim's stuff, but there was something more ominous just about a hand coming out with the basement door rather than just seeing a whole vined-up tree beard from Lord of the Rings kind of looking guy.

[01:06:43] Well, again, it's that imagination you're leaving it up to that helps bring the story out.

[01:06:49] Everything that in the original series would be reprinted with new cover designs with the exception of these five titles.

[01:06:54] Within this time, many revamped box sets would also be reintroduced in a variety of paperback and hardcover.

[01:07:00] In 2004, Scholastic would keep the TV series relevant by releasing four of its classic titles on DVD,

[01:07:08] followed by several new episode releases on the market for the first time.

[01:07:11] Yeah, the only one we cared about.

[01:07:12] Yeah, literally.

[01:07:14] Not the Haunted Mask!

[01:07:15] They easily could have done, well, for sure the Haunted Mask, but they could have done like a double feature then as well.

[01:07:21] Yeah, it's so odd.

[01:07:22] One and two on together.

[01:07:23] A super well-selling VHS, and they couldn't bring it to DVD, but every other...

[01:07:28] We got it in Australia!

[01:07:30] Well, aren't you just special there, Bjorn?

[01:07:34] I don't know.

[01:07:35] Why don't you just rub it in our face while you're at it?

[01:07:41] I'm in vivo.

[01:07:42] Well, we didn't have a new DVD release of Haunted Mask in Australia.

[01:07:47] Goosebumps Graphics in 2006.

[01:07:49] These were...

[01:07:50] Although not the author or the author of the...

[01:07:51] It was a start-cut kill issue.

[01:07:52] ...graphics would present the first new printed material with the Goosebumps game in years.

[01:07:56] Three stories in each volume, each custom-made by a different artist I ever saw.

[01:08:01] In the news that had genre fans buzzing in 2007, Cartoon Network would pick up 40 episodes of Goosebumps for the month of October.

[01:08:08] This was around the time I first saw Goosebumps, and this promo scared the hell out of me.

[01:08:14] Goosebumps.

[01:08:15] More monsters than we can mention.

[01:08:19] I need to see how it's edited.

[01:08:21] The first ever live-action offering on their programming schedule.

[01:08:24] It's beautiful.

[01:08:25] It's awesome.

[01:08:26] I love it.

[01:08:27] I actually cut class early this morning, so I haven't been to rush home and watch it.

[01:08:31] Ratings would turn into a phenomenon for Cartoon Network, starting a new tradition for the next three years,

[01:08:37] and also proving that Goosebumps was still a hot property.

[01:08:40] Then, suddenly, with very little warning, the unthinkable would happen.

[01:08:47] On his website, R.L. Stine would post the first chapter of New York entitled...

[01:08:52] I really think it did.

[01:08:52] That's not what I was suggesting here a little bit.

[01:08:55] What could this mean?

[01:08:56] The interwebs would be set ablaze with speculation.

[01:08:58] Would it be possible for Goosebumps to make a comeback?

[01:09:02] The future of Goosebumps seemed too good to be true in what would certainly become the most surprising and unpredictable chapter yet for Goosebumps.

[01:09:13] For Goosebumps.

[01:09:15] In stores, March 2008.

[01:09:18] It did make a bit of a comeback with that, though.

[01:09:22] It's been 16 years.

[01:09:24] Not like the 90s, but it was relevant.

[01:09:27] It's been 16 years since ROAN came out.

[01:09:30] I can't believe it.

[01:09:32] That's kind of crazy.

[01:09:37] Never was a fan of that revamped logo, though.

[01:09:40] No.

[01:09:40] Same.

[01:09:41] It just seemed too cheap.

[01:09:42] It was a website traffic picking up.

[01:09:43] Yeah.

[01:09:44] I'm just glad that they phased it out recently in favor of the original.

[01:09:49] Because that stuck around for a while.

[01:09:51] Yeah.

[01:09:52] Yeah.

[01:09:53] It's...

[01:09:54] Any improvement these days was better than that.

[01:09:58] The UK books had that G missing the top.

[01:10:02] The UK ones.

[01:10:03] So...

[01:10:04] Oh.

[01:10:05] They had the weird G logo without the top part.

[01:10:09] The stem.

[01:10:10] Yeah.

[01:10:11] You got to have that stem.

[01:10:12] That stem is so iconic.

[01:10:14] Yeah.

[01:10:14] That's the brand recognition there.

[01:10:16] Yeah.

[01:10:17] The movie posters failed on that one, too.

[01:10:20] The Goosebumps logo.

[01:10:22] Yeah.

[01:10:22] Yeah.

[01:10:23] Give me that stem all day long.

[01:10:25] You need that.

[01:10:25] They got it right on the TV special UK one, though.

[01:10:28] They're like, oh, right.

[01:10:29] It's missing the top bit.

[01:10:30] And several books and DVDs taking on a life of their own.

[01:10:34] Goosebumps continued to introduce itself to a whole new generation of readers.

[01:10:39] And with Scholastic publishing the final Harry Potter book,

[01:10:42] it seemed that the young wizard's fate was finally sealed.

[01:10:46] I'm one of the good ones.

[01:10:48] Harry Potter is dead.

[01:10:51] Yes.

[01:10:54] With Scholastic looking to film a new book,

[01:10:57] it would rear their heads in the direction of their second best-selling book.

[01:11:00] And book series, Goosebumps.

[01:11:03] In an interview with R.L. Stine would confirm everybody's dream come true.

[01:11:07] The day we thought would never come.

[01:11:09] A Goosebumps comeback.

[01:11:19] Goosebumps Horrorland.

[01:11:21] With 12 books confirmed for an all-new series,

[01:11:23] Goosebumps was resurrected for the first time in over a decade.

[01:11:27] Expanding upon its popular titles and introducing new characters,

[01:11:31] each new story would lead to the scariest place on Earth.

[01:11:33] This was the one out when I started.

[01:11:35] Horrorland.

[01:11:36] Horrorland was the big one.

[01:11:38] Come families, come friends.

[01:11:40] I remember that.

[01:11:41] For fun and for thrills.

[01:11:43] Just throw at the start of the Goosebumps.

[01:11:45] And for the first time,

[01:11:46] the series would follow a continuing story arc,

[01:11:49] taking readers to an all-new interactive online site.

[01:11:53] Enter Horrorland and Escape from Horrorland,

[01:11:55] featuring bonus clues, stories, downloads, and games

[01:11:59] to tie in directly with each new book,

[01:12:01] along with an exclusive new interview

[01:12:03] with everyone's favorite possessed dummy,

[01:12:06] Slappy Streepin' Car.

[01:12:08] And then...

[01:12:09] I just like jumped at the screen.

[01:12:11] Classic Goosebumps became a third printing

[01:12:14] of several books from the original series,

[01:12:16] each book serving as a companion to each Horrorland title,

[01:12:19] usually with a direct link to the new story.

[01:12:21] Dozens of original stories would be reprinted

[01:12:24] with completely redesigned cover art

[01:12:26] and new behind-the-strings bonus features,

[01:12:29] such as new games, facts,

[01:12:31] and Q&As with author RL Stein.

[01:12:33] And then...

[01:12:35] And then...

[01:12:36] Yeah.

[01:12:38] Goosebumps Horrorland by RL Stein.

[01:12:40] Goosebumps Horrorland Audiobooks.

[01:12:41] You can either buy that, or you can just buy the box set.

[01:12:43] Adapting all...

[01:12:43] I got the box set, one.

[01:12:45] Because they brought out a box set with all those,

[01:12:48] so I just decided to get that.

[01:12:51] I was like, I don't want to buy them all individually.

[01:12:53] Like, I just get the box set.

[01:12:55] Has them all.

[01:12:56] Yep.

[01:12:57] Because you guys just get all the big box sets there in Australia.

[01:13:00] We get all the...

[01:13:02] Yeah.

[01:13:02] Sure enough, I ordered it here.

[01:13:04] 12 stories in the overarching series

[01:13:05] for digital download and two-disc CD sets

[01:13:08] for the first time.

[01:13:10] Goosebumps DVD releases continued

[01:13:12] with extra episodes per set

[01:13:13] and newly commissioned cinematic cover art.

[01:13:16] So good, it's scary.

[01:13:18] Goosebumps.

[01:13:19] You can own all three DVDs.

[01:13:21] Look for these spine-teaming tales on DVD.

[01:13:24] Now on DVD.

[01:13:25] Released in five more waves.

[01:13:27] Why couldn't they have just done

[01:13:29] a slew of multi-feature sets?

[01:13:32] Yep.

[01:13:32] Then they didn't do werewolf skinning.

[01:13:35] Goosebumps Horrorland, the video game.

[01:13:37] The first episode.

[01:13:39] Yep.

[01:13:40] Now...

[01:13:40] That's why I never understood.

[01:13:41] I was like, you already released this episode

[01:13:43] on a prior DVD.

[01:13:45] I was like, there are still episodes

[01:13:47] you have yet to put out on DVD.

[01:13:49] Yeah.

[01:13:49] It was so confusing.

[01:13:51] No.

[01:13:51] It's like they forgot.

[01:13:52] I don't know.

[01:13:53] How could you forget, though?

[01:13:54] It's like, we've had so many ideas.

[01:13:56] Like, they could have done

[01:13:56] the Haunted Mask 1 and 2 on a DVD.

[01:13:58] They could have done

[01:13:59] all three Nive the Living Dummies

[01:14:00] in one set.

[01:14:02] You know?

[01:14:02] Yeah.

[01:14:02] They could have done

[01:14:03] cool sets like...

[01:14:04] I don't know.

[01:14:05] They don't think up this stuff.

[01:14:06] But if we were in there,

[01:14:08] we would have all the ideas.

[01:14:09] We'd be like,

[01:14:10] this is what you should do.

[01:14:12] We should have been

[01:14:12] the Scholastic Marketing Think Tank

[01:14:14] for 2008.

[01:14:16] We would have learned them.

[01:14:18] Now, who's back?

[01:14:20] Horrorland.

[01:14:20] And this video game,

[01:14:22] I remember playing this

[01:14:23] with my brothers,

[01:14:25] and I got pretty bored.

[01:14:28] It was...

[01:14:28] I mean, it was a little...

[01:14:30] It was a little...

[01:14:31] I'm just gonna say it.

[01:14:32] It was a little fun,

[01:14:33] but I wish there was

[01:14:35] more of a story.

[01:14:36] You know what I mean?

[01:14:37] Not story!

[01:14:39] You kind of had to farm

[01:14:40] to get the requirements

[01:14:42] needed to move on

[01:14:43] to the next world.

[01:14:45] You had to get all those

[01:14:47] scare tokens,

[01:14:48] I think they were called.

[01:14:50] So, I don't know.

[01:14:51] I don't know.

[01:14:52] I'm a key to this.

[01:14:53] Yeah.

[01:14:54] Something like that.

[01:14:55] But it was interesting.

[01:14:56] It's new Goosebumps

[01:14:56] video game

[01:14:57] in over a decade

[01:14:58] released just in time

[01:14:59] for Halloween 2008.

[01:15:01] Available for PS2,

[01:15:03] Wii,

[01:15:03] and NDS.

[01:15:04] Goosebumps Horrorland

[01:15:06] Video game.

[01:15:07] Ride for your life.

[01:15:08] Tickets, please.

[01:15:10] Tickets, please.

[01:15:10] Goosebumps Horrorland

[01:15:11] was extended then

[01:15:12] into seven additional books

[01:15:14] in 2010,

[01:15:15] bringing the total

[01:15:16] to 19 stories.

[01:15:17] Each new book

[01:15:18] featuring a haunted artifact

[01:15:19] brought back from

[01:15:20] Horrorland

[01:15:21] to wreak havoc.

[01:15:22] And these fun

[01:15:23] and interactive

[01:15:24] Goosebumps books

[01:15:24] would also be released

[01:15:26] before the next new series

[01:15:27] in 2011.

[01:15:30] Goosebumps Hall of Horrors,

[01:15:32] a six book series

[01:15:33] extension of the

[01:15:34] original Horrorland books

[01:15:35] that would eventually

[01:15:36] drop the Horrorland

[01:15:37] name altogether.

[01:15:39] This series would feature

[01:15:40] a third story arc

[01:15:41] told by the trapped souls

[01:15:42] from each terrifying tale.

[01:15:45] And in the fall of 2011,

[01:15:46] Goosebumps would be

[01:15:47] picked up for syndication

[01:15:48] by the Haunted Hub

[01:15:50] and run in conjunction

[01:15:51] with its other popular

[01:15:52] R.L. Stine series,

[01:15:54] The Haunting Hour.

[01:15:57] Go to the hour more like it.

[01:15:58] 2012, the 20th anniversary

[01:16:00] of Goosebumps.

[01:16:01] Scholastic would first

[01:16:02] celebrate by unleashing

[01:16:03] dozens of ebooks

[01:16:04] for the first time

[01:16:05] along with this fun

[01:16:06] new board game,

[01:16:08] Goosebumps,

[01:16:08] Welcome to Horrorland,

[01:16:10] the board game.

[01:16:11] Scholastic would also

[01:16:12] celebrate by printing

[01:16:13] this exclusive hardcover book,

[01:16:15] Goosebumps Wanted.

[01:16:16] This title would lead

[01:16:17] directly into a brand

[01:16:19] new Goosebumps series.

[01:16:22] Goosebumps Most Wanted,

[01:16:24] featuring some of the

[01:16:25] series' most wanted monsters

[01:16:26] in all new stories.

[01:16:28] Each cover featured

[01:16:28] a classic Goosebumps

[01:16:29] monster in the style

[01:16:31] of a wanted poster.

[01:16:32] This would also lead

[01:16:33] to a series of special editions,

[01:16:35] all featuring the same

[01:16:36] mysterious haunted house.

[01:16:38] In celebration

[01:16:38] of the 20th anniversary,

[01:16:40] Scholastic would stage

[01:16:41] a Goosebumps trick-or-read

[01:16:43] experience for local

[01:16:44] children in a haunted corn maze.

[01:16:46] The event featured

[01:16:47] spooky games, prizes,

[01:16:48] and much Goosebumps love

[01:16:50] from the host

[01:16:50] with the most

[01:16:51] Mr. R.L. Stine.

[01:16:53] I like that.

[01:16:54] I don't know if you're not

[01:16:54] flabbering those games,

[01:16:55] too.

[01:16:56] That's weird seeing him in a hat.

[01:16:58] Goosebumps.

[01:17:00] Yeah, it is kind of weird.

[01:17:03] And after various home video

[01:17:04] and syndication networks

[01:17:05] over the years,

[01:17:06] Goosebumps would finally

[01:17:07] become available for streaming

[01:17:09] on Netflix

[01:17:10] in the fall of 2013.

[01:17:12] The response would be,

[01:17:13] as always,

[01:17:14] They're all backwards,

[01:17:15] though.

[01:17:15] It says five seasons.

[01:17:16] That's not right.

[01:17:17] Full HD.

[01:17:18] Yeah.

[01:17:18] It was though we were

[01:17:19] experiencing this Goosebumps

[01:17:21] medium again for the first time,

[01:17:23] although it wasn't long

[01:17:24] before rumors of a new

[01:17:25] Goosebumps medium

[01:17:26] would begin to materialize.

[01:17:28] Would this long

[01:17:30] in-development project

[01:17:31] finally see the light of day?

[01:17:33] Oh, boy.

[01:17:33] Theaters beware.

[01:17:35] You're in for a scare.

[01:17:37] Lights, camera,

[01:17:40] Goosebumps.

[01:17:48] Buckle in, boys.

[01:17:50] Here we go.

[01:17:52] This is what took the documentary

[01:17:54] like two additional years

[01:17:56] gathering all this.

[01:17:58] Yeah.

[01:17:59] It was a very exciting time.

[01:18:02] Although continuously rumored

[01:18:03] since the 90s,

[01:18:04] Fox of the Goosebumps feature film

[01:18:06] would have all but come and gone

[01:18:07] over the years.

[01:18:08] Now, this is where I was

[01:18:09] going to mention the

[01:18:12] Tim Burton movie

[01:18:13] and all the different adaptions

[01:18:15] that came before it.

[01:18:16] I was specifically going to

[01:18:17] go out of my way

[01:18:18] to talk about those.

[01:18:19] I was like,

[01:18:20] Jesus Christ,

[01:18:21] this chapter is long enough.

[01:18:23] Plus, I don't want people

[01:18:25] to feel like they're gypped.

[01:18:26] Like, oh, we could have had

[01:18:28] this and that.

[01:18:29] I just wanted to focus on

[01:18:30] this is what's coming now.

[01:18:32] Yeah.

[01:18:33] Sort of the what is

[01:18:35] instead of the what could have

[01:18:36] been.

[01:18:37] Exactly.

[01:18:38] It's like where we've moved on.

[01:18:40] Yeah.

[01:18:41] Yeah.

[01:18:42] Smart.

[01:18:42] It's a smart move.

[01:18:43] You know, you don't want people

[01:18:44] to be like, well, what the hell?

[01:18:46] Why didn't they?

[01:18:46] Well, what we got wasn't

[01:18:48] better than a George Romero.

[01:18:50] You know, I didn't want people

[01:18:51] thinking that.

[01:18:52] Yeah.

[01:18:53] Yeah.

[01:18:54] But I mean,

[01:18:55] the fact that we got

[01:18:57] a Goosebumps movie at all

[01:18:58] is just incredible.

[01:19:00] I remember.

[01:19:01] Yeah.

[01:19:01] When the talks first began,

[01:19:03] it was just talk.

[01:19:04] There was no official

[01:19:05] announcements or anything,

[01:19:06] but there was just like,

[01:19:08] oh, there's going to be

[01:19:09] a Goosebumps movie

[01:19:10] coming out soon.

[01:19:11] And I was like,

[01:19:12] what?

[01:19:14] And when Jack Blackwell

[01:19:15] announced it,

[01:19:16] it was like,

[01:19:16] holy shit.

[01:19:18] Like, that's when things

[01:19:19] were really getting real.

[01:19:20] Yeah.

[01:19:21] And classic Goosebumps

[01:19:22] just like quick,

[01:19:24] quick, quick.

[01:19:24] Everything started going

[01:19:25] then at that point.

[01:19:27] Yeah.

[01:19:27] That's when the prices

[01:19:28] ramped up for all the

[01:19:29] merch big time.

[01:19:30] Yeah.

[01:19:31] Collectors were coming

[01:19:31] out of the woodwork.

[01:19:32] I remember before the

[01:19:34] movie, it was way easier

[01:19:35] to go into a used bookstore

[01:19:36] and find Goosebumps

[01:19:37] stuff.

[01:19:38] When the movie came out,

[01:19:40] man, it was like trying

[01:19:41] to find water in a

[01:19:42] desert.

[01:19:43] They were.

[01:19:44] Yeah.

[01:19:44] I remember that shift

[01:19:45] as well.

[01:19:46] I was weekly going to

[01:19:48] any thrift store I could

[01:19:49] find to get any piece of

[01:19:51] Goosebumps merch.

[01:19:52] You know, the books,

[01:19:53] anything.

[01:19:54] And then once the movie

[01:19:55] promo started, done.

[01:19:58] Everything was dried up

[01:19:59] for years.

[01:20:01] That wasn't until, you

[01:20:03] know, maybe 2017 that

[01:20:05] people started to finally

[01:20:06] thrifting Goosebumps

[01:20:07] books again.

[01:20:08] Yeah.

[01:20:09] So it was like, again, like I

[01:20:12] said, the moment that

[01:20:12] changed everything.

[01:20:13] This movie came out.

[01:20:15] It changed everything in the

[01:20:17] community too.

[01:20:17] With the resurrection of the

[01:20:19] brand and the acquisition of

[01:20:21] the rights from Columbia

[01:20:22] Pictures to produce a Goosebumps

[01:20:24] feature film.

[01:20:25] Searching for years for the

[01:20:27] perfect writer and director,

[01:20:28] executive producer for the TV

[01:20:30] series, Deborah Forte, finally

[01:20:32] locked screenwriter Darren

[01:20:33] Lemke and director Rob

[01:20:35] Letterman for the project.

[01:20:37] And after years of

[01:20:38] anticipation, the official

[01:20:40] announcement would be made by

[01:20:41] the man himself.

[01:20:43] Hello, everyone.

[01:20:44] I'm R.L.

[01:20:45] Stein.

[01:20:46] I write the Goosebumps books.

[01:20:48] Now they're being made into a

[01:20:49] movie, which will be in

[01:20:50] theaters next year.

[01:20:52] Casting news would then

[01:20:53] explode after the announcement

[01:20:54] of Jack Black taking on the

[01:20:56] legendary role as this still

[01:20:58] didn't seem real.

[01:20:59] I know.

[01:21:00] How cool is that?

[01:21:02] Alongside Odea Rush, Dylan

[01:21:03] Minnette and Ryan Lee for the

[01:21:05] lead roles.

[01:21:06] With the creative team

[01:21:07] Ryan Lee had me very excited.

[01:21:09] Principal photography would

[01:21:10] finally take place in Georgia

[01:21:11] beginning in April 2014.

[01:21:13] 2014 and eventually wrapping

[01:21:14] in July 2014.

[01:21:16] Yeah, they all knocked it

[01:21:17] out of the park.

[01:21:18] Which would be just in time

[01:21:18] for San Diego Comic-Con.

[01:21:20] This is when it became real

[01:21:21] for me.

[01:21:21] We catch the scene.

[01:21:22] Seeing this art up.

[01:21:23] Because, you know, for years

[01:21:25] people have been talking

[01:21:26] about a Goosebumps movie

[01:21:27] and I just had so many

[01:21:29] disappointments.

[01:21:30] It was like, I got to

[01:21:32] disconnect from the potential

[01:21:34] Goosebumps movie talks.

[01:21:36] Like, I'll believe it when I

[01:21:38] see it.

[01:21:39] And now, the first images of

[01:21:41] this banner coming out,

[01:21:42] it became real for me at that

[01:21:46] point, finally.

[01:21:48] Exactly.

[01:21:48] Even though they had talked

[01:21:49] about, yeah, we filmed it

[01:21:50] and we outed it.

[01:21:51] I was like, I still do not

[01:21:54] believe it.

[01:21:55] Like, give me some physical

[01:21:56] proof that the movie's been

[01:21:58] shot and then I'll start

[01:22:00] getting excited again.

[01:22:01] For me, it was like news.

[01:22:06] It was some news publication

[01:22:10] that was covering Comic-Con.

[01:22:11] That was the first time I saw

[01:22:13] it because it had the

[01:22:14] promotional images.

[01:22:17] And even the, I would have to

[01:22:19] look it up, but even the logo

[01:22:20] of the newspaper was styled in

[01:22:23] the Goosebumps, like G-Splat

[01:22:25] style.

[01:22:25] And like, that was really

[01:22:28] cool.

[01:22:28] But like, that was the first

[01:22:29] time I saw it.

[01:22:30] And I remember I was on the

[01:22:32] couch and I like stood up.

[01:22:33] I was like, oh man, here we

[01:22:37] go.

[01:22:38] Here we go.

[01:22:40] It was so good.

[01:22:41] First glimpses of Goosebumps

[01:22:43] the movie with the first

[01:22:44] stills posted on July 17th.

[01:22:47] Followed by a special

[01:22:48] appearance on July 24th.

[01:22:50] Ladies and gentlemen of

[01:22:52] Comic-Con, it's time for you

[01:22:54] to meet my friends.

[01:22:54] Avery Jones, ladies and

[01:22:55] gentlemen.

[01:22:56] By Jack Black and all the

[01:22:58] Goosebumps monsters.

[01:22:59] Take him away.

[01:23:07] With the editors hard at work

[01:23:09] cutting the film, the

[01:23:10] monsters would take the time to

[01:23:11] wish us all a happy Halloween

[01:23:13] and later reveal a handful of

[01:23:15] their own spooky publicity

[01:23:17] stills.

[01:23:17] 2016 it says, if you notice.

[01:23:18] 2015 enthusiasm would

[01:23:21] certainly begin to build and

[01:23:23] to spread even more

[01:23:24] excitement, Scholastic would

[01:23:26] then adapt several classic

[01:23:27] Goosebumps books into.

[01:23:29] Magical day.

[01:23:30] Yep.

[01:23:31] Classic Goosebumps audio

[01:23:33] books, adapting 15 of the

[01:23:35] original Goosebumps titles on

[01:23:36] CD and various audio formats

[01:23:38] for the first time and

[01:23:39] materializing on July 7th,

[01:23:42] the ominous and magical

[01:23:46] Goosebumps the movie poster.

[01:23:48] You've done it.

[01:23:49] You've unleashed all the Goosebumps

[01:23:51] creatures.

[01:23:52] Now, let's see my master plan

[01:23:55] unfurl.

[01:23:56] With Slappy's help, the first

[01:23:57] trailer would premiere the

[01:23:58] following day with these

[01:24:00] incredible highlights.

[01:24:01] The day the trailer dropped.

[01:24:04] Oh, man.

[01:24:05] Christmas time.

[01:24:07] I watched it.

[01:24:08] monster I've ever created.

[01:24:09] On repeat.

[01:24:10] All day.

[01:24:11] The only way to stop this is to

[01:24:12] suck into the books.

[01:24:15] I watched the fight everyone.

[01:24:16] Anything you can to barricade

[01:24:17] the doors.

[01:24:17] We cannot let the monsters

[01:24:19] inside.

[01:24:19] I just want to break them.

[01:24:30] I think I've liked the

[01:24:32] international trailer.

[01:24:33] I didn't have to stop it.

[01:24:34] I didn't have to stop it.

[01:24:35] I'm all in security, Kat.

[01:24:37] I didn't look dark.

[01:24:38] I didn't look dark.

[01:24:38] I didn't.

[01:24:39] Oh, so good.

[01:24:41] I remember when when I first

[01:24:45] actually saw the trailer, it

[01:24:47] was when we went to see

[01:24:48] Minions of all movies.

[01:24:50] So I didn't know it was up

[01:24:51] yet on YouTube.

[01:24:54] And but yeah, the first time

[01:24:55] I saw it was on the big

[01:24:57] screen and I'll never forget

[01:24:59] it because I was there like

[01:25:00] in shock.

[01:25:01] I was like, oh, my gosh, it's

[01:25:02] the Goosebumps.

[01:25:03] It was funny because the

[01:25:05] moment I saw Dylan Minnette's

[01:25:06] face, I was like, is this

[01:25:08] is this the Goosebumps

[01:25:09] trailer?

[01:25:10] Because I knew he was in

[01:25:11] it.

[01:25:12] I'm like, is this the

[01:25:13] Goosebumps trailer?

[01:25:14] And my family was there

[01:25:16] and it wasn't until I think

[01:25:18] Slappy showed up that they

[01:25:19] like looked over in my

[01:25:21] direction.

[01:25:22] They were like seeing what

[01:25:23] the reaction was.

[01:25:24] You're like, it's real.

[01:25:26] It's happening.

[01:25:28] It's that Leonardo DiCaprio

[01:25:30] meme.

[01:25:31] You know, he's pointing

[01:25:32] like, oh, yeah, yeah.

[01:25:35] I'm all of the monsters.

[01:25:37] Yeah, that's me right up

[01:25:39] there.

[01:25:40] I got the movie novel for

[01:25:54] Christmas.

[01:25:54] From the movie inside.

[01:25:55] I remember.

[01:25:56] Released August 25th along with

[01:25:57] this new Goosebumps graphics

[01:25:59] title, Slappy's Tales of

[01:26:01] Horror, a reprinting of three

[01:26:03] previous stories now in full

[01:26:05] color, including a brand new

[01:26:07] graphic tale featuring Slappy

[01:26:09] himself in Night of the Living

[01:26:11] Dummy.

[01:26:12] There, that's where that

[01:26:13] belongs.

[01:26:14] Along with a handful of Target

[01:26:16] exclusive retro print books.

[01:26:19] I've been actually told that those

[01:26:21] Target books have become rare

[01:26:23] August 28th would then premiere

[01:26:25] the film's unbelievable second

[01:26:27] trailer.

[01:26:27] Yeah, those if you can find

[01:26:29] them, get your hands on them

[01:26:31] because they're not like they're

[01:26:32] obviously not in the same vein as

[01:26:34] like the TV presents books, but

[01:26:36] they're definitely out of print and

[01:26:38] they're different in their own way.

[01:26:40] So if you can find those, get your

[01:26:41] hands on them.

[01:26:42] I think I have a I got a few.

[01:26:45] Yeah, I have three of the five, I

[01:26:47] think.

[01:26:47] So I'm still missing two of them, but

[01:26:50] I'm working on it.

[01:26:51] Miller and they had to read the

[01:26:53] twist and twist.

[01:26:56] That's a great line to the beginning,

[01:26:58] the middle and the twist and the

[01:26:59] twist.

[01:27:00] Yeah.

[01:27:01] I like this trailer.

[01:27:04] Me too.

[01:27:05] Yes.

[01:27:05] It's more intense and there's more

[01:27:07] Slappy.

[01:27:08] Yeah.

[01:27:08] I'm stuck.

[01:27:09] Go on without me.

[01:27:10] Save yourself.

[01:27:10] Okay.

[01:27:10] Good luck.

[01:27:11] There was a lot.

[01:27:12] It was scary.

[01:27:13] What's this travel?

[01:27:14] What are you doing?

[01:27:15] Well, then when you don't have like,

[01:27:17] you know, a frigging pop song playing,

[01:27:19] it makes it more scary.

[01:27:21] Yeah.

[01:27:22] Right.

[01:27:23] It was a great TV spot too called like

[01:27:26] Slappy Rules, I think.

[01:27:28] And it was just like slappy laughing.

[01:27:31] While it said like this off of the word.

[01:27:36] On September 2nd, Sony would already

[01:27:38] begin to seek writers for a sequel.

[01:27:40] Oh, I remember that too.

[01:27:41] Ah, this is what we never got though.

[01:27:43] Sony Pictures is reportedly already

[01:27:45] working on a sequel.

[01:27:46] Based on the books that have sold

[01:27:48] over 350 million copies of the

[01:27:50] This is when they're writing

[01:27:51] Horror Land right here.

[01:27:52] Since it hit the silver screen

[01:27:53] on October 16th.

[01:27:55] Slappy from the Goosebumps movie here

[01:27:57] and it's only one month until you get

[01:27:59] to see me on the big screen.

[01:28:01] With Slappy at the helm,

[01:28:03] clips would begin to pour out

[01:28:04] on September 22nd.

[01:28:05] Could have killed you.

[01:28:07] I don't remember writing about a giant praying mantis.

[01:28:10] I remember the praying mantis one.

[01:28:12] I was so stoked.

[01:28:15] The stage would then be set

[01:28:22] for this breathtaking Goosebumps TV spot.

[01:28:24] This Halloween.

[01:28:27] The Goosebumps monsters come to life.

[01:28:31] Oh no.

[01:28:32] Oh yes.

[01:28:33] He doesn't say that in the movie.

[01:28:35] He's a big teddy bear.

[01:28:36] Not friendly.

[01:28:37] Come on, scaredy cat.

[01:28:39] Invisible boy.

[01:28:40] What was that?

[01:28:40] How many trailers do you know of movies

[01:28:42] where you see something that's not

[01:28:43] an actual movie though?

[01:28:45] You know what I mean?

[01:28:45] The snowman.

[01:28:47] The blob.

[01:28:48] The mantis.

[01:28:49] The poodle.

[01:28:50] The poodle.

[01:28:52] Goosebumps.

[01:28:52] Ready PG.

[01:28:53] That was another skill.

[01:28:55] Here's another breathtaking Goosebumps TV.

[01:28:57] It's like the one monster

[01:28:59] from the Give Yourself Goosebumps books

[01:29:01] that I don't think they utilized

[01:29:03] any of the other ones,

[01:29:04] did they,

[01:29:04] from that whole series?

[01:29:06] They did have a few.

[01:29:07] I think they had,

[01:29:09] I think Cronby and the Witch Doctor

[01:29:11] were from Deep in the Jungle of Doom.

[01:29:15] Yes.

[01:29:16] They did have a few,

[01:29:17] but they were deep cuts.

[01:29:19] You barely seen them there.

[01:29:20] The Graveyard Ghouls

[01:29:22] and the Body Squeezers

[01:29:23] representing Series 2000.

[01:29:25] You even had

[01:29:26] The Haunted Car.

[01:29:28] and stuff like that.

[01:29:30] Yeah, the Haunted Car

[01:29:31] was just there.

[01:29:32] Yeah.

[01:29:33] It was good to see

[01:29:34] that they actually took the time

[01:29:36] to dig into

[01:29:38] as many of the series

[01:29:40] as they could.

[01:29:41] Mm-hmm.

[01:29:41] Yeah,

[01:29:42] they definitely did their homework

[01:29:43] and weren't surface level

[01:29:45] on what they put on the screen.

[01:29:49] They had to re-release

[01:29:50] every sequel slappy book

[01:29:52] because they realized,

[01:29:53] oh, wait,

[01:29:54] kids are going to realize

[01:29:55] that he's not the villain

[01:29:56] from the first book,

[01:29:57] which kind of pisses me off

[01:29:59] when the original

[01:29:59] My Living Dummy

[01:30:00] opens up in the movie itself.

[01:30:03] I was like,

[01:30:03] could they not have used

[01:30:04] any of the sequels at all?

[01:30:06] Because it's like,

[01:30:07] Mr. Witch should have popped out.

[01:30:09] Probably wouldn't have made sense

[01:30:10] to the average moviegoer

[01:30:12] if it was the second one.

[01:30:13] They'd be like,

[01:30:14] wait,

[01:30:14] why is it the second one?

[01:30:16] Yeah.

[01:30:16] Yeah.

[01:30:17] Let's just say in this reality,

[01:30:20] Slappy has murdered Mr. Wood

[01:30:21] and he now dominates that book.

[01:30:25] Yeah.

[01:30:27] Instead of...

[01:30:27] He is technically in the book,

[01:30:30] so...

[01:30:30] Instead of the scene

[01:30:30] where Mr. Wood

[01:30:31] is strangling Slappy,

[01:30:32] it's Slappy strangling Mr. Wood

[01:30:34] and he succeeded.

[01:30:36] Makes sense to me.

[01:30:37] I'll buy that for a dollar.

[01:30:39] Yep.

[01:30:40] But...

[01:30:40] This Halloween,

[01:30:41] monsters have invaded Madison.

[01:30:43] We need to stay calm.

[01:30:46] How do you survive a monster invasion?

[01:30:49] We're the only ones who can stop them.

[01:30:51] Don't answer the door.

[01:30:52] Oh, hello, cutie.

[01:30:54] Don't lick a sound.

[01:30:56] I think Mark Letterman had a thing.

[01:30:58] Goosebumps.

[01:30:58] Stick together.

[01:30:59] We cannot let the monsters inside.

[01:31:01] Hurry!

[01:31:03] Yes!

[01:31:05] Goosebumps.

[01:31:06] Rated PG.

[01:31:07] Tweet using hashtag GoosebumpsMovie

[01:31:09] to get a message from Slappy.

[01:31:10] Slappy from the Goosebumps movie here.

[01:31:12] Only three weeks

[01:31:13] until the premiere of my movie.

[01:31:15] Guess who's getting Goosebumps in two weeks?

[01:31:18] You are!

[01:31:19] With Slappy updating us

[01:31:20] on the film's release,

[01:31:22] the leafy carpet would roll out

[01:31:23] on October 4th

[01:31:24] for the early premiere

[01:31:25] of Goosebumps the Movie

[01:31:27] at Regency Village Theater

[01:31:28] in Westwood, California.

[01:31:30] In attendance,

[01:31:31] all of the film's memorable monsters

[01:31:33] joining the cast and crew of the film,

[01:31:35] including Jack Black.

[01:31:36] I remember when I penned

[01:31:37] the first Goosebumps story.

[01:31:40] And of course,

[01:31:40] Slappy the Dummy.

[01:31:42] Well, this is an incredible movie

[01:31:44] and I'm just saying that

[01:31:45] because I'm in it.

[01:31:47] Making his big screen debut

[01:31:48] along with a look

[01:31:49] at the Goosebumps VR experience.

[01:31:52] Hey you!

[01:31:52] No, don't look at me!

[01:31:53] Keep your eye on the giant bug!

[01:31:55] Pulling viewers directly into the movie.

[01:31:57] You don't stay on for a free ride.

[01:31:59] No, that's it.

[01:32:00] Go, go.

[01:32:01] Back to the end of the line

[01:32:01] if you want another thought.

[01:32:02] Before singing and dancing

[01:32:04] the night away

[01:32:04] at the memorable Goosebumps

[01:32:06] afterparty.

[01:32:07] Jack Black,

[01:32:07] he was really the highlight

[01:32:09] of the whole experience.

[01:32:10] What an actor!

[01:32:11] What a performance!

[01:32:13] October 7th

[01:32:14] would give us something

[01:32:15] we didn't hear

[01:32:15] until we had it.

[01:32:17] Here we go.

[01:32:19] You're in for a scare!

[01:32:22] Goosebumps!

[01:32:23] A brand new Goosebumps

[01:32:24] music video starring Jack Black.

[01:32:25] I remember I listened

[01:32:26] to this to and from the theater.

[01:32:28] The clues like

[01:32:29] what got me hyped up

[01:32:30] for the movie.

[01:32:31] The Bumps

[01:32:31] You had to, yeah.

[01:32:33] A 90s hip hop inspired throwback

[01:32:35] with backup vocals

[01:32:36] by none other than

[01:32:37] Slappy himself.

[01:32:38] Do the Goosebumps dance!

[01:32:40] All right!

[01:32:41] Can't wait to ask Avery about this.

[01:32:43] You talk?

[01:32:44] Yep.

[01:32:44] Now that is nostalgia done right.

[01:32:47] You will be where?

[01:32:48] You'll be where?

[01:32:48] Did Slappy ever consider

[01:32:49] a rap career?

[01:32:52] Slappy from the Goosebumps movie here

[01:32:55] and it's only seven days

[01:32:56] until our movie hits theaters

[01:32:58] and I hit back

[01:33:00] as the man who made me.

[01:33:01] And with Slappy

[01:33:02] updating us daily.

[01:33:03] Hey you!

[01:33:04] It's Slappy

[01:33:05] and there's only four more days

[01:33:07] until Goosebumps

[01:33:08] hits theaters.

[01:33:09] The cast would be kind enough

[01:33:11] to grace the cover

[01:33:11] of Parade Magazine

[01:33:12] and Goosebumps the game

[01:33:14] would become available

[01:33:15] to haunt several

[01:33:16] of our video game platforms

[01:33:18] on October 13th.

[01:33:20] Slappy here

[01:33:20] three more days

[01:33:21] until Goosebumps

[01:33:22] the movie is in theaters.

[01:33:24] Only two more days

[01:33:26] until Goosebumps

[01:33:27] hits theaters.

[01:33:28] Slappy would then

[01:33:29] up the ante

[01:33:30] with Jack Black

[01:33:30] giving us an intro

[01:33:32] to another new Goosebumps game

[01:33:33] on October 15th.

[01:33:35] Greetings Goosebumps fans.

[01:33:37] Jack Black here

[01:33:38] with more frightful fun

[01:33:39] in store for you.

[01:33:40] Goosebumps Night of Scares

[01:33:41] based on the creations

[01:33:42] from the movie

[01:33:43] becoming the first

[01:33:44] big mobile game

[01:33:45] to be produced

[01:33:46] by the brand.

[01:33:47] Get your popcorn

[01:33:48] because Goosebumps

[01:33:49] is coming to theaters

[01:33:50] tomorrow.

[01:33:52] They're nearly here.

[01:33:53] The cast would be

[01:33:54] in full swing

[01:33:55] on the press circuit.

[01:33:57] See inside

[01:33:57] the new movie Goosebumps.

[01:33:59] Greetings.

[01:34:00] It is I, R.L. Stine

[01:34:01] creator of Goosebumps.

[01:34:09] Oh no.

[01:34:10] This is too scary

[01:34:11] to reveal now.

[01:34:11] Sorry.

[01:34:12] You'll just have to see

[01:34:13] the movie.

[01:34:13] What book do you think

[01:34:14] that is?

[01:34:14] Night of the Living Gummy?

[01:34:15] Jack Black is R.L. Stine

[01:34:15] in Goosebumps

[01:34:16] in theaters October 16th.

[01:34:17] Apparently it was

[01:34:18] too scary.

[01:34:18] That was pink though.

[01:34:19] It was too scary.

[01:34:21] As Chicken Chicken

[01:34:21] it was cut from the movie

[01:34:23] because it was too scary.

[01:34:24] Goosebumps.

[01:34:25] That's why we didn't do that

[01:34:27] in theaters Friday.

[01:34:27] in the movie.

[01:34:27] Goosebumps

[01:34:28] in theaters Friday.

[01:34:30] Goosebumps

[01:34:30] in theaters Friday.

[01:34:37] Goosebumps

[01:34:38] in theaters Friday.

[01:35:00] Goosebumps is a smashing success.

[01:35:17] opening at number one

[01:35:19] in the box office.

[01:35:20] The number one movie

[01:35:21] in America

[01:35:21] is Goosebumps.

[01:35:23] Really?

[01:35:23] High five.

[01:35:24] It's perfect Halloween fun

[01:35:26] for the whole family.

[01:35:28] What are you doing?

[01:35:29] Get me out.

[01:35:30] No, no, no.

[01:35:31] Keep going.

[01:35:31] Goosebumps

[01:35:32] rated PG.

[01:35:33] Now playing.

[01:35:34] Receiving generally

[01:35:35] positive reviews,

[01:35:36] many praising

[01:35:37] Jack Black's performance,

[01:35:39] the film's sense of humor,

[01:35:40] and the overall

[01:35:41] wealth of nostalgia.

[01:35:42] Rolling Stone

[01:35:43] calls Goosebumps

[01:35:44] ready-made for Halloween.

[01:35:45] It's a treat

[01:35:46] for all ages.

[01:35:47] You giving me?

[01:35:48] What's the word?

[01:35:49] Goosebumps.

[01:35:50] Goosebumps.

[01:35:51] Goosebumps.

[01:35:52] Ready PG.

[01:35:53] It would be nominated

[01:35:53] for several awards

[01:35:54] and earn a score

[01:35:55] of 77%

[01:35:57] certifiably fresh

[01:35:58] on Rotten Tomatoes.

[01:35:59] Goosebumps.

[01:36:00] Now playing.

[01:36:01] Goosebumps,

[01:36:02] the original motion

[01:36:03] picture soundtrack

[01:36:04] would then drop

[01:36:05] the following week,

[01:36:06] later followed by

[01:36:07] a special edition

[01:36:08] vinyl cover created

[01:36:09] by original cover artist

[01:36:11] Tim Jacobus.

[01:36:12] That was sick.

[01:36:12] And for those looking

[01:36:13] for additional nostalgia,

[01:36:15] Goosebumps,

[01:36:15] the retro screen collection

[01:36:16] would be unleashed

[01:36:17] on the 27th,

[01:36:19] just before Halloween 2015.

[01:36:21] Goosebumps would continue

[01:36:22] to perform well

[01:36:23] all through Halloween

[01:36:24] with several spooky promotions

[01:36:26] presented by Slappy and Company.

[01:36:28] This Halloween,

[01:36:29] everyone's getting goosebumps.

[01:36:31] Come on,

[01:36:32] Scarecouse.

[01:36:32] Take me back.

[01:36:33] Buy an adult ticket

[01:36:34] and we'll treat you

[01:36:35] to one kid's ticket.

[01:36:37] All of you in the car.

[01:36:38] Now.

[01:36:39] Now.

[01:36:40] Happy Halloween

[01:36:41] from Goosebumps.

[01:36:44] He would then wish us all

[01:36:45] a slappy Thanksgiving,

[01:36:46] a slappy Christmas,

[01:36:48] and a slappy New Year

[01:36:49] while reminding us all

[01:36:50] that Goosebumps

[01:36:51] would soon be available.

[01:36:52] My whole family went

[01:36:53] to go see the movie

[01:36:54] on Christmas Day.

[01:36:55] It was awesome.

[01:36:56] That is cool.

[01:36:57] From the pages

[01:36:58] to the big screen.

[01:36:58] That's a great Christmas

[01:36:59] right there.

[01:37:01] January 12, 2016

[01:37:02] would then see

[01:37:03] the blockbuster hit

[01:37:04] of 2015

[01:37:05] released on digital HD.

[01:37:07] Goosebumps,

[01:37:08] the worldwide phenomenon

[01:37:09] comes to light.

[01:37:10] You've just released

[01:37:11] every monster I've ever created.

[01:37:13] Goosebumps,

[01:37:14] now on Amazon.

[01:37:15] Hey there, dummies!

[01:37:16] He would also kick back

[01:37:17] to review

[01:37:18] the now classic movie trailer.

[01:37:20] This might be bad.

[01:37:21] Papa,

[01:37:22] why are you hiding

[01:37:23] in your house?

[01:37:24] We have to watch the movie

[01:37:25] after we're done here tonight.

[01:37:27] God dang.

[01:37:27] She's the villain here.

[01:37:28] Dental hygiene is very important.

[01:37:30] I saw me.

[01:37:31] That was it?

[01:37:32] With a few friends.

[01:37:33] I saw me.

[01:37:34] That was it?

[01:37:35] Yeah, that was good.

[01:37:37] Why was it there

[01:37:38] more slappy in there?

[01:37:39] It's a real Goosebumps story

[01:37:40] with twists and turns

[01:37:42] and monsters.

[01:37:48] Another intense trip.

[01:37:49] Goosebumps.

[01:37:50] Very curious still.

[01:37:52] I'd love to know

[01:37:53] like who chose the monsters

[01:37:55] released on DVD,

[01:37:57] Blu-ray,

[01:37:58] and 3D.

[01:37:58] That's a really good question.

[01:38:00] Yeah.

[01:38:02] When the monsters

[01:38:02] come to life.

[01:38:04] So it's like

[01:38:05] what was the process

[01:38:06] behind that?

[01:38:07] Three friends

[01:38:07] will have to survive

[01:38:08] the night

[01:38:09] and save the day.

[01:38:11] What was that?

[01:38:12] It's the invisible boy.

[01:38:14] Ow!

[01:38:14] He is such a cracker.

[01:38:16] Goosebumps.

[01:38:17] Rated PG

[01:38:17] with a multitude

[01:38:18] of bonus features

[01:38:19] including much more slappy.

[01:38:21] Starring Jack Black.

[01:38:22] Starring Jack Black.

[01:38:24] Wrong!

[01:38:24] The star of Goosebumps

[01:38:26] is me!

[01:38:26] Spoiler alert!

[01:38:27] All of my friends

[01:38:28] and I are coming

[01:38:29] to your house.

[01:38:30] Slap.

[01:38:31] He's losing gummy.

[01:38:32] Alternate opening,

[01:38:33] deleted scenes,

[01:38:33] and more.

[01:38:34] Maybe there's a way

[01:38:34] you could write

[01:38:35] the monsters

[01:38:35] off the page.

[01:38:36] I have a deadline.

[01:38:38] Literally.

[01:38:39] Bring home the Blu-ray

[01:38:39] for your family.

[01:38:40] January 26th.

[01:38:41] Rated PG.

[01:38:42] Coupled with numerous

[01:38:43] special offers,

[01:38:44] the film would make

[01:38:53] Goosebumps in cinemas soon.

[01:38:55] While proving a major hit

[01:38:56] on home video

[01:38:57] in the States,

[01:38:58] the film would continue

[01:38:58] to tear up screens

[01:38:59] internationally,

[01:39:00] proving to be

[01:39:01] a bona fide hit

[01:39:02] across the planet.

[01:39:04] Cher de Poules,

[01:39:05] Henri Détroide.

[01:39:06] The Peely Penis.

[01:39:07] Also internationally

[01:39:08] released in the winter

[01:39:10] of 2016,

[01:39:11] Goosebumps Alive,

[01:39:12] the all-new R-rated

[01:39:14] Goosebumps experience.

[01:39:14] We have an episode

[01:39:15] on this,

[01:39:16] number 37.

[01:39:17] Oh, no way!

[01:39:18] I thought it was a C.

[01:39:19] I found it amazing,

[01:39:20] but...

[01:39:21] What went into this?

[01:39:22] We got to talk

[01:39:23] to the production designer,

[01:39:25] theater designer

[01:39:25] behind Goosebumps Alive,

[01:39:27] Sam Weyer,

[01:39:28] on how this whole show

[01:39:30] came to be,

[01:39:31] and we learned

[01:39:32] a lot through it.

[01:39:33] So yeah,

[01:39:33] episode number 37,

[01:39:34] if you guys are interested.

[01:39:36] Because Goosebumps Alive

[01:39:37] was a very interesting

[01:39:39] experiment for Goosebumps

[01:39:41] in 2016,

[01:39:42] so I'd highly recommend it.

[01:39:45] Took a virtual tour

[01:39:46] through that too,

[01:39:47] which was pretty cool.

[01:39:48] It was pretty cool.

[01:39:49] We got to see

[01:39:50] all the different

[01:39:50] rooms and monsters

[01:39:52] and whatnot.

[01:39:52] Quite scary at the same time.

[01:39:53] Really good actually,

[01:39:54] but scary.

[01:39:55] Just shy of Friday the 13th,

[01:39:57] May 11 would make

[01:39:58] Goosebumps the movie

[01:40:00] available for streaming

[01:40:01] indefinitely on Netflix.

[01:40:03] Just in time

[01:40:04] for his 24th anniversary

[01:40:05] in July,

[01:40:06] Scholastic and R.L.

[01:40:07] Stine would announce plans

[01:40:08] for the 25th anniversary

[01:40:09] of the franchise,

[01:40:10] setting up for a February

[01:40:11] 2017 launch

[01:40:12] of the all-new

[01:40:13] literary story arc

[01:40:14] featuring the scariest

[01:40:15] villain of them all,

[01:40:17] Slappy the Dummy,

[01:40:18] in his first ever

[01:40:19] series arc entitled

[01:40:20] Goosebumps Slappy World.

[01:40:47] Not anymore.

[01:40:50] The Dummy,

[01:40:51] and of course,

[01:40:52] did you miss me?

[01:40:53] Goosebumps the sequel.

[01:40:55] With original cast

[01:40:56] and crew signed

[01:40:56] for multiple pictures,

[01:40:58] franchise talks

[01:40:59] have been full swing

[01:41:00] before the film's

[01:41:01] initial release.

[01:41:02] Just the

[01:41:02] first installment

[01:41:03] racked $157 million

[01:41:05] at the box office

[01:41:06] worldwide.

[01:41:07] With the company

[01:41:07] believing the first film

[01:41:08] will kick off

[01:41:09] a new franchise.

[01:41:10] Black is expected

[01:41:10] to return as his role

[01:41:12] is styled.

[01:41:12] Should've been bigger.

[01:41:13] The stars are signed

[01:41:13] for more movies.

[01:41:14] There's plenty more books

[01:41:15] with material to go off of,

[01:41:16] so a sequel

[01:41:17] sounds reasonable.

[01:41:18] What do you think?

[01:41:20] We think,

[01:41:21] uh, yes!

[01:41:24] Yes!

[01:41:25] Oh, yes!

[01:41:29] Yes, there they are.

[01:41:30] Proven that even

[01:41:31] in the 2010s,

[01:41:33] Goosebumps still rules.

[01:41:34] From the movies,

[01:41:36] to the TV series,

[01:41:40] to the stage shows,

[01:41:43] to the books.

[01:41:44] I love this video.

[01:41:49] Goosebumps is as popular

[01:41:50] today as it has ever been.

[01:41:52] So whatever the twisty

[01:41:54] road of scares

[01:41:54] may bring us next,

[01:41:56] Goosebumps has certainly

[01:41:57] transcended its target market

[01:41:59] of eager young readers

[01:42:00] and now lives and breathes

[01:42:02] in the hearts

[01:42:03] of millions worldwide.

[01:42:05] That's my good body.

[01:42:05] From the glory years,

[01:42:06] to the darkest days,

[01:42:08] to the unexpected resurrection,

[01:42:10] and to the dawn

[01:42:11] of a new generation

[01:42:12] of the little book series

[01:42:14] that became a life-altering

[01:42:16] phenomenon called Goosebumps.

[01:42:19] Goosebumps.

[01:42:20] Goosebumps.

[01:42:20] Goosebumps.

[01:42:21] Goosebumps.

[01:42:22] Goosebumps.

[01:42:23] Goosebumps.

[01:42:25] Goosebumps.

[01:42:26] Goosebumps.

[01:42:27] Goosebumps.

[01:43:02] Goosebumps.

[01:43:03] Goosebumps.

[01:43:03] the books there wouldn't be

[01:43:03] any kids in the library.

[01:43:05] I love it so much.

[01:43:06] I've been doing it so long

[01:43:07] and I'm not tired

[01:43:08] of it at all.

[01:43:09] I look forward to

[01:43:10] sitting down in the morning

[01:43:11] at the computer

[01:43:12] and thinking up

[01:43:13] new ways to scare kids.

[01:43:14] To me, that's just thrilling.

[01:43:16] I mean, what could be nicer?

[01:43:19] Nothing could be nicer.

[01:43:20] Thanks for watching, and have a scary night, everyone.

[01:43:25] Matt Rasmussen, Mockery News.

[01:43:30] That was a little recap of the entire movie there.

[01:43:38] Have a scary night, everyone.

[01:43:39] One whole second.

[01:43:40] Aw, have a scary night.

[01:43:42] Until part two.

[01:43:43] Until part two.

[01:43:44] Until part two.

[01:43:46] And that's a wrap on the saga of scares.

[01:43:49] So, we went through a whole history.

[01:43:52] Big effort for that.

[01:43:54] Definitely.

[01:43:56] Thank you.

[01:43:57] Documentary, you know, it came out in 2018.

[01:44:00] And even now, six years later, there's been so much more Goosebumps stuff.

[01:44:04] And it's crazy.

[01:44:05] But that's just a testament to, you know, just how big Goosebumps was and still is as a franchise.

[01:44:15] And how it still continues to truck along and be introduced to new generations over time.

[01:44:20] So, now that we've watched the documentary through, I gotta say, it's a really comprehensive history of Goosebumps overall.

[01:44:28] And I commend you for putting that all together, Matt.

[01:44:32] Thank you so much.

[01:44:33] It was a labor of love.

[01:44:35] It never got boring.

[01:44:36] It got a little overwhelming sometimes.

[01:44:40] But it never got boring.

[01:44:41] And it was only out of the love and passion for Goosebumps.

[01:44:45] Because obviously, I can't profit off this.

[01:44:47] So, it was never for that.

[01:44:49] It was just to show the world what an amazing property this is.

[01:44:54] For those who weren't alive at the time or just didn't remember the phenomenon that was this series.

[01:45:02] Yeah, absolutely.

[01:45:03] Absolutely.

[01:45:04] And, I mean, it's just incredible.

[01:45:06] Just the ventures that Goosebumps went through.

[01:45:09] It's so funny when you watch it as a full timeline.

[01:45:12] Just to see the rise of it.

[01:45:15] The decline.

[01:45:16] The resurrection.

[01:45:17] And just how it just continues to go along.

[01:45:20] We haven't really hit those, like, sort of valleys that we did in the late 90s, early 2000s.

[01:45:28] Because Goosebumps fandom is still alive no matter what the franchise itself does.

[01:45:33] Especially thanks to the internet.

[01:45:35] So, it just allows those people to express themselves and their love for Goosebumps.

[01:45:41] And, you know, we've talked to many people in the past.

[01:45:44] Especially, I remember Alan Doucette.

[01:45:46] The 90s show's prop master told us that he would love to one day see, like, a full-on, full-budget Goosebumps documentary.

[01:45:57] The fact that we have a Goosebumps documentary at all is great.

[01:46:01] But the prospect of maybe an updated version.

[01:46:04] Maybe a little more.

[01:46:05] Maybe some special guests to drop on.

[01:46:09] Could that possibly be in the future?

[01:46:12] I think 100%.

[01:46:14] It's got to happen.

[01:46:15] Because, like, R.L. Stine himself told me that he needs a follow-up.

[01:46:20] So, we got to make this happen.

[01:46:23] We got to continue to educate the people.

[01:46:26] Yes.

[01:46:27] And we need to, you know, spread the word, the good word of Goosebumps.

[01:46:31] And if R.L. Stine himself is asking for it, then we got to deliver.

[01:46:35] So, hopefully.

[01:46:36] We got to spread the gospel of Stine.

[01:46:38] The gospel of Stine.

[01:46:39] That's exactly it.

[01:46:41] So, hopefully, you know, hopefully someday soon we can bring an updated version.

[01:46:46] And get some of those special guests to pop on and talk about their experiences with Goosebumps.

[01:46:52] But, you know, for now, we do what we do here on this podcast and bring the stories to you guys.

[01:46:58] But, yeah, it's a wonderful franchise.

[01:47:02] It is.

[01:47:03] And that's going to do it for tonight's episode of the Goosebumps Group Podcast.

[01:47:07] Matt, thank you so much for joining us.

[01:47:09] It was an absolute pleasure to watch this documentary with you.

[01:47:12] And, again, seriously, thank you for your contribution to the Goosebumps community and continued contributions.

[01:47:19] We really appreciate it.

[01:47:21] Thank you, boys.

[01:47:22] Thank you for keeping the candles lit.

[01:47:24] You boys are doing God's work.

[01:47:26] Never forget that.

[01:47:28] Absolutely.

[01:47:28] We thank you very much.

[01:47:30] We appreciate it.

[01:47:31] And you're always welcome.

[01:47:32] If you ever want to chat some Goosebumps, we're always welcome to have you back on.

[01:47:37] So, thank you again for joining us.

[01:47:39] It was a pleasure.

[01:47:40] Thank you, boys.

[01:47:41] Anytime, anyplace.

[01:47:43] Keep on bumping.

[01:47:44] Keep on bumping.

[01:47:45] We are Goosebumps brethren.

[01:47:47] It's in our blood.

[01:47:49] Absolutely.

[01:47:51] Matt, do you have any other social media you want to go ahead and plug real quick?

[01:47:56] Oh, I suppose my YouTube channel, which obviously you've seen there, Scary Spooky One.

[01:48:01] There's, like, hundreds of videos.

[01:48:03] Like, the Goosebumps one is the one everyone knows.

[01:48:06] But there's a lot of other content on there.

[01:48:09] From other franchises and things.

[01:48:11] And I suppose you could find me on Facebook, too, if you want.

[01:48:15] And, yeah, those are about it.

[01:48:18] Absolutely.

[01:48:18] And I'll go ahead and leave those links in the description below.

[01:48:21] So, make sure you check him out.

[01:48:23] He really does deserve his support.

[01:48:25] Go subscribe to Scary Spooky One over on YouTube.

[01:48:28] And if you want to check out the documentary for yourself, I'll leave a link to that in the description as well.

[01:48:33] So, go check him out.

[01:48:34] Give him the support.

[01:48:35] He really does deserve it.

[01:48:36] And you can also, in the description, find the links for Bjorn and Nick's channels as usual.

[01:48:41] Goosebumps, Asivan, and Sean, respectively.

[01:48:43] You can go find them on YouTube and social media.

[01:48:45] And, of course, follow the Goosebumps Crew Podcast.

[01:48:57] Goosetober is going to be trucking along for the rest of October.

[01:49:00] So, make sure you guys tune in next week.

[01:49:02] You know, we talked a lot about the Goosebumps movie today.

[01:49:06] And next week is the nine-year anniversary since that movie released.

[01:49:10] So, we're going to be celebrating it in our own Goosebumps Crew way with a very special guest joining us.

[01:49:17] So, make sure you guys tune in.

[01:49:18] But until then, this has been the Goosebumps Crew Podcast.

[01:49:21] And from all of us here, we, as always, want to wish you all to take care, stay safe, and have a very scary day.
