[00:01:41] That's exactly due here on this podcast.
[00:01:43] Every week, we have a brand new episode talking about everything Goosebumps.
[00:01:46] But the books, TV shows, movies, video games, merchandise, whatever it is,
[00:01:49] if it has Goosebumps in the name, we're going to talk about it so much
[00:01:52] that the word Goosebumps is not going to sound real anymore.
[00:01:55] So with all that said, if you end up liking today's episode,
[00:01:58] make sure you have a like and comment if you're watching us on YouTube.

[00:02:39] And ladies and gentlemen, the spookiest day of the year is here.
[00:02:42] Happy Halloween, Goosebumps fans.
[00:02:44] It is officially Halloween day.
[00:02:46] And I've got to tell you, we are stoked here at the Goosebumps Crew Podcast.
[00:02:51] We have a perfect way to end off Goosetober here on the Goosebumps Crew Podcast.
[00:02:55] We've done Halloween interviews and episode topics all month long.
[00:03:01] Not all year long.
[00:03:02] Kind of all year long.
[00:03:03] But all month long.
[00:03:04] Halloween-specific topics.
[00:03:06] And we are saving the best for last.
[00:03:09] As you guys know, we talk a lot on the Goosebumps Crew Podcast about The Haunted Mask,
[00:03:14] both the book and more specifically, the episode adaptations of both that book and its sequel.
[00:03:20] We've talked about it ad nauseum.
[00:03:21] You guys are probably sick of us hearing about it.
[00:03:23] But you're just going to have to deal with that for one more episode
[00:03:26] because we have something very special today.
[00:03:28] We have talked with three different cast members from The Haunted Mask episodes
[00:03:33] in their own individual episodes.
[00:03:35] But today, we're bringing them all together for the very first time in 20 years or so.
[00:03:40] So, please help us in welcoming back to the podcast, Catherine Long, Catherine Short, and Amos Crawley.
[00:03:46] It's great to have all three of you here.
[00:03:48] How are you all doing today?
[00:03:49] Great.
[00:03:52] We're very happy to have all three of you back on.
[00:03:54] It's an absolute pleasure.
[00:03:56] And especially because, as I've said, we've done individual episodes with all three of these guests,
[00:04:02] and all of which have gone on to become some of our most popular episodes here in the podcast.
[00:04:07] Catherine Long's, your especially, has become our most popular episode on YouTube.
[00:04:12] It has over 9,500 views right now.
[00:04:16] It's our most viewed episode on Spotify.
[00:04:18] And the reach got so far that even R.L. Stine himself shared it on social media.
[00:04:24] So he even watched it himself.
[00:04:27] That was a surprise of a day.
[00:04:29] But he did see that episode, which we were very happy about.
[00:04:34] So, of course, we've got to end off Goosetober by bringing all three of you together again for a big Haunted Mask reunion,
[00:04:41] because it's been nearly 30 years since that episode first premiered on Fox in October of 1995.
[00:04:49] And we wanted to see if you guys, you know, would click the same way you guys did on set back in 1995.
[00:04:58] So it's very glad to, very happy to have you all back here today.
[00:05:02] Thanks for having us.
[00:05:03] It's a pleasure, man.
[00:05:05] Like, honestly, it's really nice to see both of your faces, all of your faces today.
[00:05:08] So thanks for having us.
[00:05:10] Absolutely.
[00:05:11] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:05:12] We're very happy to have you all.
[00:05:14] And this time around, so, of course, we've already done individual interviews.
[00:05:18] So we decided to once again turn to the fans to ask their questions for the three of you today.
[00:05:24] So first off, I want to ask you three, because you all, of course, were child actors
[00:05:29] back around the time that Goosebumps came out.
[00:05:32] You did Goosebumps and other things.
[00:05:33] What was it like being child actors in Canada at that time?
[00:05:37] Amos, you want to take this one?
[00:05:41] Sure.
[00:05:43] Gosh.
[00:05:44] Well, I don't know if you two would agree with this, but I don't know, because you don't
[00:05:50] really compare it to anything else.
[00:05:51] That's just kind of what life was, at least for me.
[00:05:54] It was not an unusual or different thing that much.
[00:05:59] It was a busy time.
[00:06:01] The Canadian dollar was really low, so there was a lot of American production happening.
[00:06:07] And there was a fairly small pool of actors, so the odds of your working...
[00:06:13] You know, I work as an on-set coach now, and there are thousands upon thousands of child
[00:06:19] actors now, and I feel like there were about two dozen when I was a kid.
[00:06:23] And so what was it like?
[00:06:28] You know, it stunted our emotional growth, and we had a really good time.
[00:06:33] Totally, yes.
[00:06:36] No, I mean, I think that's a great summary.
[00:06:39] Don't forget, like, it was the 90s, right?
[00:06:42] Like, there was no checks and balances.
[00:06:43] There was very little oversight.
[00:06:45] I mean, there were handlers on set, but if, like, your parents weren't there...
[00:06:52] Like, I started drinking coffee at 11, folks.
[00:06:54] Like, I was doing 12-hour days.
[00:06:56] Like, it was...
[00:06:57] I was adulting pretty darn young.
[00:06:59] I mean, we all were, for the most part.
[00:07:01] And I think Amos is right.
[00:07:02] Like, there was a smaller pool back then.
[00:07:04] We all saw the same people at auditions all the time.
[00:07:07] Now I feel like, you know, there's a far larger market and demographic of kids trying
[00:07:14] to vie for the same spots.
[00:07:15] And, like, back when we were younger, we'd see the same people all the time at casting
[00:07:20] calls and kind of get to know each other and know whose agent they were from and, you
[00:07:24] know, whatnot.
[00:07:25] And also, it was kind of a fun time.
[00:07:27] I don't know if you guys experienced this, but all famous actors, Canadian child actors
[00:07:33] from that time went on to have pretty successful Hollywood careers.
[00:07:37] You know, you've got the Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Ben Foster, a couple of those.
[00:07:41] We would kind of see them in circulation around at auditions.
[00:07:44] So we would all kind of, you know, hi, how's it going?
[00:07:48] And, you know, not knowing then, you know, the success that different people are going
[00:07:52] to go on to and whatnot.
[00:07:53] But it was, I don't know, it was a great time, I think, for child actors because it was
[00:07:57] a good platform to jump into bigger careers back then.
[00:08:02] I think it's the eye through the needle is a lot smaller now, I think.
[00:08:07] But yeah, definitely Canadian dollar for sure.
[00:08:10] Everyone was wanting to shoot films in Toronto and Vancouver back then.
[00:08:13] I'd even say two different channels.
[00:08:16] Different channels are so available to people now to be able to show their talent on where
[00:08:20] it just wasn't available back then.
[00:08:23] So, yeah.
[00:08:25] As far as Nickelodeon and YTV were like the big ones in Disney Channel.
[00:08:31] So it was like, if you got a contract or a gig with them, it was like a huge deal.
[00:08:36] And they would want to keep reusing you too.
[00:08:38] They would keep hiring you for other shows.
[00:08:39] They would want to, you know, reuse you for other shows.
[00:08:41] We all got hired from Are You Afraid of the Dark after we did Goosebumps and whatnot.
[00:08:45] Or vice versa.
[00:08:46] I think we were all on Are You Afraid of the Dark.
[00:08:49] I'm pretty sure all three of us were.
[00:08:51] Not me.
[00:08:52] I was right.
[00:08:52] You didn't?
[00:08:53] I was about to say.
[00:08:53] No.
[00:08:54] You did two Goosebumps though.
[00:08:55] You did two Goosebumps though.
[00:08:56] Yes.
[00:08:56] Yes.
[00:08:57] Yes.
[00:08:57] That's right.
[00:08:57] Okay.
[00:08:58] You were making up for it.
[00:08:59] I feel like.
[00:09:00] Yeah.
[00:09:02] I honestly feel like.
[00:09:02] Girl, they missed out.
[00:09:03] You should have done Are You Afraid of the Dark.
[00:09:04] I know, right?
[00:09:06] I mean.
[00:09:07] Who were they thinking?
[00:09:08] Interesting.
[00:09:08] I feel like for me, I don't know if I immersed myself completely in it when I was a child.
[00:09:16] And that's probably why I'm not like doing it as an adult today.
[00:09:19] And so I was definitely like, I guess, a little less aggressive with going for that,
[00:09:28] like for those roles and auditioning for myself.
[00:09:30] I think I kind of phased out pretty quickly to be perfectly honest.
[00:09:34] So, yeah.
[00:09:36] Which I always found so interesting because I always remember there was like the Trinity.
[00:09:40] I felt it was like you, Charlotte Sullivan and Katerina Scorazoni.
[00:09:44] And you were like the Trinity that was super popular back then playing all the hot girl roles.
[00:09:49] I was like, for sure, she's going to catapult to stardom.
[00:09:52] And then you disappeared off the face of the planet.
[00:09:55] No, it wasn't for me.
[00:09:56] You went on to bigger and better things.
[00:09:58] But it was just like, yeah, Catherine was the hot thing.
[00:10:01] She was.
[00:10:03] What is always.
[00:10:03] She was funny too.
[00:10:05] Just like, because you guys are talking about all the different actors that were circulating.
[00:10:08] And a lot of the ones you brought up were also on Goosebumps.
[00:10:13] Katerina Scorazoni, Charlotte Sullivan, who we did have on the podcast in an earlier episode.
[00:10:17] Tamara Hope was on it too.
[00:10:19] Yeah.
[00:10:19] It was a couple other ones.
[00:10:20] Laura Vandervoort.
[00:10:22] And then, of course, you had, you know, Hayden Christensen and Ryan Gosling.
[00:10:26] And those guys went on to do huge things.
[00:10:30] And even Amos.
[00:10:31] I mean, you were in movies like Billy Madison and stuff like that.
[00:10:36] So, like, you know, everybody sort of went to their own, like, area of acting.
[00:10:42] And some, you know, went on to other things.
[00:10:44] It's just the way that show business is sometimes.
[00:10:47] You know, some stay in it.
[00:10:48] Some don't.
[00:10:49] And that's fine.
[00:10:50] But it's always interesting to see, like, who says, like, you know, I want to stay here.
[00:10:55] This is what I want to do.
[00:10:57] That sort of thing.
[00:10:58] Amos was the real TV star of our generation.
[00:11:01] He's the one that did all the work.
[00:11:03] I mean, me and Catherine, we did a bit.
[00:11:05] But, like, I think Amos did, like, all the circuits.
[00:11:08] Yeah.
[00:11:12] He's like, oh, stop.
[00:11:15] Stop.
[00:11:15] Please.
[00:11:16] Don't stop.
[00:11:17] Oh, no.
[00:11:17] Please.
[00:11:18] I can't take much more of it.
[00:11:21] He's being very demure.
[00:11:23] He's being very, yeah.
[00:11:24] I have to make up for the stupid mustache that I have.
[00:11:27] And so I have to be extra.
[00:11:29] Well, we were saying before you guys hopped on that it looks like the mustache.
[00:11:32] He has as his costume in the second one.
[00:11:35] But the gangster mustache.
[00:11:39] This one isn't fake.
[00:11:41] Yeah.
[00:11:42] And no, it's not fake.
[00:11:43] It's real.
[00:11:45] I actually watched that right before this interview today.
[00:11:50] I was like, I need to get a little refresher on number two.
[00:11:53] I can't remember exactly what happened.
[00:11:55] Yeah, I did.
[00:11:56] The last time they interviewed me and they talked about number two, I was like,
[00:11:59] I have no recollection of what happens in that.
[00:12:01] I had no memory of even filming it.
[00:12:02] I was like, sorry.
[00:12:04] Okay.
[00:12:04] Whoa.
[00:12:05] Okay.
[00:12:05] Okay.
[00:12:05] That's not what happened today.
[00:12:07] Okay.
[00:12:07] Dan.
[00:12:08] Sorry.
[00:12:08] I don't even remember being in it.
[00:12:13] I had to go back and watch it because they were talking about certain scenes.
[00:12:16] And I was just like, I don't remember filming that.
[00:12:18] I need to go back and YouTube that.
[00:12:20] Yeah.
[00:12:21] It felt kind of bad because we were like, oh, we don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable here.
[00:12:29] And it's really funny.
[00:12:30] Cause like that you say that, like you thought that, you know, short was going to go on to do, you know, all these really awesome things.
[00:12:37] And I literally like told her in that interview we did with her, I was like, I think if you guys would have continued on you both, like it would have been to that stardom level.
[00:12:47] Because honestly, like all three of you, like in the episodes, like that's why I think you're such beloved characters for the Goosebumps franchise is because of how well you portrayed those characters.
[00:12:58] Like you're acting in every episode that you did was phenomenal, even at a child's age.
[00:13:03] So we had a good time.
[00:13:06] Yeah.
[00:13:07] Yeah.
[00:13:07] We had a really good time on set.
[00:13:08] Definitely tell.
[00:13:09] I feel like you and I, Catherine, I feel like we tried to rewrite this script almost every single scene, but we're like, could we add this line?
[00:13:15] And they were like, no.
[00:13:16] No.
[00:13:16] Like, I want to put this.
[00:13:17] Definitely.
[00:13:18] Is it really realistic?
[00:13:19] Like, we don't talk like this as teenagers.
[00:13:20] Like, we need to say this.
[00:13:21] They were like, no.
[00:13:22] Yeah.
[00:13:22] Disney does not agree.
[00:13:24] Well, when I was watching, so I watched them obviously all in succession.
[00:13:28] And when I came across the Haunted Mask 2, I could see a maturity that grew in all of our acting from one till two.
[00:13:37] You can tell there was a difference.
[00:13:39] Like, I don't know if it was an age thing or just a general knowledge thing or an acting thing or whatever it was.
[00:13:44] You could tell that there was definitely development and growth from one to two.
[00:13:51] For sure.
[00:13:52] I think Long said the best interview we did with her.
[00:13:55] Yeah.
[00:13:56] I was going to say, I think Long said the best interview we did with her because she said, she's like, well, by the time we got to the second one, we were just like, oh, hey, what's going on?
[00:14:04] You were just walking on there like, you're the stars.
[00:14:07] You're the clip now.
[00:14:08] So you guys got this.
[00:14:10] I think by the second one, we knew that the first one had been successful.
[00:14:13] So we were like, hey, how's it going?
[00:14:15] Like, yeah.
[00:14:17] Well, it was.
[00:14:18] I mean, not really, but at the same time.
[00:14:20] It got like insane ratings on Fox back when it first premiered.
[00:14:24] It was like, I don't remember the exact statistics, but it was like one of the highest rated programs on Fox in prime time.
[00:14:30] Like that's like, you know, for a kid show to go on prime time, it has to have like significance by the network.
[00:14:37] And then it would go on to sell a whole bunch of VHS tapes.
[00:14:41] Like it was a it was a highest selling VHS tape of that year, I think.
[00:14:45] So it was popular, especially.
[00:14:47] So I would assume by the time he got to the second one, it was just kind of like, look, we're stars now.
[00:14:53] Eight million units or something.
[00:14:55] Like it was heaps.
[00:14:57] It was crazy.
[00:14:59] I honestly don't even think I realized what was going on at that time.
[00:15:03] I did not compute that this was going to be what it was like at all.
[00:15:09] Even to the point now where I'm like, I don't know, guys, I'm a middle aged woman just working her regular job.
[00:15:14] Like chat with me.
[00:15:17] Sure.
[00:15:19] But I always thought to myself, too, Catherine, I'm like, you must have absolutely loved filming the second version of this because you didn't have to get into that massive mask costume every single time.
[00:15:31] I just that was a big deal for you.
[00:15:33] Like it was like hours.
[00:15:35] I don't know how.
[00:15:36] Yeah, I think you would come in in the morning and you'd be like, oh, my makeup and here's done.
[00:15:40] I'd still be sitting there.
[00:15:43] Yeah.
[00:15:44] Yeah.
[00:15:44] Yeah.
[00:15:44] Second was better.
[00:15:45] I didn't have to do all that again, although it was really fun.
[00:15:47] It was just a lot, you know, when you're 12 and you're tired and I cried a few times for sure.
[00:15:52] But I think I said that in my first one, like that's that's nothing by today's standards.
[00:15:57] You look at what they do with prosthetics for X-Men and other films.
[00:16:00] And those people are in prosthetics for five to seven hours.
[00:16:02] It's like, are they filming during the day or are they spending the whole day in prosthetics?
[00:16:06] Like prosthetics for five to seven hours.
[00:16:09] I'm going to shoot for three and then get back out of prosthetics.
[00:16:12] Like that's crazy how long some of the prosthetics take now and the innovations that have happened over the years.
[00:16:19] But yeah, I was pretty grateful.
[00:16:21] If you go back to like the original, I'll never forget this story.
[00:16:25] But if you go back to the original Wolfman movie from 1940, that was before computers or anything like that.
[00:16:32] And they had to do whole transformations of the werewolf.
[00:16:34] The actor would have to sit in the same spot on film while they like applied gradual layers of the makeup.
[00:16:42] So it would take hours on end to film like five seconds of footage just because they're continuously putting makeup on them.
[00:16:50] So it's like it can be grueling from what I've heard.
[00:16:55] And then on top of that, it's like, OK, now act.
[00:16:58] It's like you're already so emotionally drained from.
[00:17:02] So anyways, I wanted to just say that I appreciate I don't think I appreciated it at the time, Catherine.
[00:17:06] But looking back at it now, I'm like, oh, man, she had to.
[00:17:08] It's OK. I had to be emotional in the whole episode.
[00:17:11] I had like one persona.
[00:17:13] So it worked out fine.
[00:17:14] I could just behave traumatized the whole film.
[00:17:16] It was translated well.
[00:17:18] It translated perfectly for sure.
[00:17:20] But I mean, going back to what you guys originally said, I don't think because there was no social media at the time.
[00:17:24] Had there been social media back then, imagine how much huger it would have been for us.
[00:17:30] Whereas there wasn't.
[00:17:31] I mean, primetime's not really even a thing now.
[00:17:34] You know, it's like there's just so many channels.
[00:17:35] People watch TV when they want to watch it and stream it.
[00:17:37] So back then you had to be home with your VHS ready to record something if you wanted to get the live aired episode of something.
[00:17:45] So, yeah, you know, ratings and stuff were huge.
[00:17:48] And yeah, I don't think I realized how big it was until I started to get mauled at like shopping like places and stuff like that.
[00:17:55] That was that was a lot.
[00:17:56] Yeah, they didn't have YouTube shorts.
[00:17:58] Witness protection and go underground.
[00:18:00] At least.
[00:18:01] I was like, get me out of here.
[00:18:03] Yeah.
[00:18:04] Well, and I mean, you three were going to the Haunted Mass 2.
[00:18:08] I mean, you three were like the main trio while Steve was off doing his his old man thing.
[00:18:13] You three were the ones that were like the main trio in that episode.
[00:18:17] But I wanted to ask really quick between the two episodes, what would you three say was like the most memorable scenes to film?
[00:18:24] I remember filming going through candy bags in a graveyard.
[00:18:29] I feel like that's one that for some reason sticks out.
[00:18:33] Yeah.
[00:18:33] And that's where the line I hate mints comes from.
[00:18:36] Yeah.
[00:18:39] I think the pumpkin patch scene, which was one of the first ones.
[00:18:42] Were you thinking about?
[00:18:43] Yes.
[00:18:44] Because that's the scene where we I feel like it's one of the first ones we filmed and we were like really bonding.
[00:18:49] And then Tim was like joking with us and we were all trying to get a sense of.
[00:18:53] And then and then I think that's when I realized like, oh, she's cool.
[00:18:56] I can be her friend.
[00:18:56] We'll have a good time.
[00:18:58] Yeah, I do remember that distinctly, too, because it was the first day for sure.
[00:19:05] And it was just a really cool scene in general.
[00:19:07] Just being in that one little pumpkin patch with all the pumpkins.
[00:19:10] It was sort of like you got all of your own willies out of the way.
[00:19:14] I don't know about you guys, but I was probably very nervous just coming to set on the first day.
[00:19:20] So it was just nice to sort of get there and get to know everyone and get that first scene over with.
[00:19:25] So then you can carry on and do the rest.
[00:19:27] But yeah.
[00:19:28] And remember at the end of it, because we were we were so upset that they didn't finish the scene that that we did like left the pumpkins and didn't start.
[00:19:37] We didn't like didn't finish what we started.
[00:19:38] And so we added in that line.
[00:19:40] Wait, you forgot your pumpkin.
[00:19:42] You have a good memory.
[00:19:44] No, because I remember that because you and I just literally stood there with Tim and we were like, no, we need to say this line.
[00:19:49] Can you imagine two 12 year olds arguing with you like we're going to add this in?
[00:19:53] It's going to happen.
[00:19:55] And then the producer said it was fine.
[00:19:57] And so it actually got kept in the in the show, which, yeah, it's funny.
[00:20:01] All I remember about that day was I was hanging out and.
[00:20:04] And yeah.
[00:20:05] And then I think I said this in my first in my first interview, but when you came out wearing like a really cute outfit and they put me in the dorky clothes, I was like, I see what this is going.
[00:20:16] I was so jealous of her wardrobe the entire.
[00:20:19] She always come to lunch and be like, you're so cute.
[00:20:22] Yeah.
[00:20:22] And it's comfortable.
[00:20:24] So, yeah.
[00:20:24] It was not about it.
[00:20:27] Oh, yeah.
[00:20:28] I think it was also her costumes.
[00:20:30] Like you preferred like the cute cat costumes that she got over your duck.
[00:20:34] And.
[00:20:35] Oh, my gosh.
[00:20:35] She looks so stinking cute in that costume.
[00:20:39] I was like, yeah, anyways, let's not talk about it.
[00:20:43] Not going to talk about it.
[00:20:45] But one thing I do remember, not a scene, but actually Amos, this is I was going to mention this in my first interview, but Amos.
[00:20:51] So he's a bit of a film buff.
[00:20:53] And so I remember when we would all sit around at lunch and on breaks and stuff.
[00:20:57] And then Amos would talk about films and all this stuff that he knew.
[00:21:00] And I remember being young and being like, wow, he's so knowledgeable.
[00:21:05] Like, I don't know anything about all these films.
[00:21:07] And I remember talking to my mom.
[00:21:09] I was like, mom, I need to know this much stuff.
[00:21:11] Otherwise, I'm not going to go anywhere.
[00:21:12] Like, I remember going home and like looking up all the things that he would he would talk about because he was such a film buff and he was very mature.
[00:21:20] And so he was like he was like the he was like the film sommelier on set.
[00:21:24] He would always educate us about all these things.
[00:21:27] I remember you were you were the wise one of the group.
[00:21:30] If it helps, I have not matured at all since.
[00:21:35] I stay in that same lane.
[00:21:38] And I haven't seen a movie since I was 18.
[00:21:41] You haven't seen the movie since.
[00:21:43] Not a single one.
[00:21:43] That was it.
[00:21:47] Well, I want to ask really quick.
[00:21:49] Did you guys ever get scared on set?
[00:21:51] Was there any ever any time where something was a little creepy or like a little spooky?
[00:21:56] It's hard to say because there's so many cameras in your face that it's like it for me, I felt like it was it really does disassociate you from the script when there is like a bunch of staff standing around.
[00:22:11] But if there was any scary moments out of all of them, I would say probably the set for all the masks was probably the best part for me that felt like it was the scariest part.
[00:22:26] I wouldn't say that there was anything as scary as like, you know, Nicolas Cage in Long Legs or something.
[00:22:31] It wasn't like some surreal experience on set where you're walking in and you haven't seen the actor yet and it's all done very methodically.
[00:22:39] We didn't have any of that.
[00:22:40] It was like we were too tired.
[00:22:41] We just show up and just work.
[00:22:43] But yeah, the masks, the mask shop pretty scary because the way they had lined them up, like it was a little creepy.
[00:22:49] And I would say maybe the graveyard scene for me because it was a real graveyard.
[00:22:52] So I was like, oh, yeah, it wasn't like a staged graveyard.
[00:22:56] It was a real graveyard at three.
[00:22:58] Where did I get tired?
[00:23:00] So where did I feel like we should be like something for Stouffville, maybe?
[00:23:05] Yeah, it was somewhere remote.
[00:23:09] And Mississauga, I feel like was in a lot of the suburb scenes, maybe.
[00:23:13] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:23:14] It was somewhere like that.
[00:23:16] Yeah, we were up somewhere.
[00:23:18] I know for sure that scene with the shop is up in Orangeville or something.
[00:23:21] It's up there.
[00:23:23] Cemetery Mount Pleasant.
[00:23:24] I feel like I remember as a kid shooting in Mount Pleasant all the time.
[00:23:28] Like it was the cemetery that seemed to be used for everything.
[00:23:31] It is a central cemetery.
[00:23:34] Like it's large, right?
[00:23:35] Yeah.
[00:23:36] I think somebody found the actual shop.
[00:23:40] Like I think it's an abandoned building.
[00:23:41] But they've got Canada's biggest Goosebumps fan.
[00:23:45] And she goes to all the set locations from the Haunted Mask.
[00:23:49] So if you go onto YouTube and just type in like Haunted Mask shooting location, she does
[00:23:54] like videos where she goes to all the different, but not just the Haunted Mask, like pretty much
[00:23:57] every iconic Goosebumps episode.
[00:23:59] She's been to like all the locations.
[00:24:00] And she like tells you also like where it is and stuff.
[00:24:03] So if you go to Castle Loma, she did check out Castle Loma.
[00:24:06] Yeah.
[00:24:08] Yeah.
[00:24:08] Castle Loma.
[00:24:09] Yeah.
[00:24:10] She did visit the shop, the novelty shop.
[00:24:15] But now somebody actually lives in there.
[00:24:17] So I think it's a house now.
[00:24:21] It's actually like a house now.
[00:24:23] Do you know what went on in here?
[00:24:26] I'd be saying if I went there.
[00:24:28] It's kind of like people who live in like the Amityville house and stuff.
[00:24:31] I'm like, how can you live there?
[00:24:34] Die hard fans.
[00:24:36] Die hard fans.
[00:24:37] It probably is a die hard fan.
[00:24:38] Maybe it is.
[00:24:40] Maybe the whole house just is like a perfect recreation of the mask shop.
[00:24:43] And they're just like, I'm a big Goosebumps fan.
[00:24:46] Oh, dude.
[00:24:47] Do you imagine?
[00:24:47] That'd be me if I lived there.
[00:24:48] Like wanting to live at like a West Craven movie location or something.
[00:24:52] Or a nightmare.
[00:24:52] They're going to hate it when we have to go there and say, hey, we're going to be shooting
[00:24:55] The Holy Mass 3.
[00:24:57] We're going to need this again.
[00:24:58] So I'm going to have to vacate in like three days.
[00:25:02] Here's some bags.
[00:25:04] I don't know.
[00:25:05] I saw a lot of traction on the comment page about the Haunted Mask 3.
[00:25:09] I don't know.
[00:25:10] Oh, definitely.
[00:25:11] Yeah.
[00:25:11] A lot of funny enough.
[00:25:12] I didn't put it in my list of questions here, but a lot of people were asking about
[00:25:17] if you three would come back for a Haunted Mask 3, would you do it?
[00:25:20] Would you guys come back for a continuation?
[00:25:22] So the demand is there.
[00:25:24] It's there.
[00:25:26] You know, like it wasn't a fluke.
[00:25:30] It really is.
[00:25:30] Move over, David Schwimmer.
[00:25:33] That's right.
[00:25:34] That's a Disney Plus show.
[00:25:35] Yeah.
[00:25:36] No, just at the time of recording this episode just yesterday, they unveiled the second season
[00:25:41] of the new Goosebumps show.
[00:25:42] And it's like so cool.
[00:25:45] It's just cool that Goosebumps is still around on TV.
[00:25:49] You know?
[00:25:50] Yeah.
[00:25:50] But they need to pivot and do Haunted Mask 3.
[00:25:53] Do Haunted Mask 3.
[00:25:54] I don't know if Gen Alpha could handle it and all of its epicness.
[00:25:58] I don't know.
[00:25:58] They have to brace themselves.
[00:25:59] It would gross more than frigging Oppenheimer or something.
[00:26:06] It'd be a theatrical release and everything.
[00:26:09] Maskenheimer.
[00:26:12] I don't know.
[00:26:13] I would be too.
[00:26:14] I think I'd be a little rusty coming into this.
[00:26:17] Amos, you're still acting.
[00:26:19] And Catherine, you're on stage all the time.
[00:26:23] So you guys would be positioned well for this.
[00:26:25] I feel like I would need to do a little bit of research and practice.
[00:26:29] No, whatever.
[00:26:30] I've seen you.
[00:26:31] You'd be just fine.
[00:26:32] You would just step right back into it.
[00:26:33] It would be no problem.
[00:26:35] Plus, we would play best friends who have kids and then we're mom best friends.
[00:26:40] So we could do episodes where we're in a sense and then stressing about what's going on with
[00:26:44] the kids.
[00:26:45] About our kids?
[00:26:46] Not a Trader Joe's trying to go save them.
[00:26:48] It would be so great.
[00:26:49] It would be great.
[00:26:50] See, we're making a script right now.
[00:26:52] Because, I mean, I understand Americana now.
[00:26:55] So all the locations are already figured out in my mind of where we need to shoot all the
[00:26:59] middle-aged mom stuff.
[00:27:00] And then they could do the rest on their own.
[00:27:02] But as long as we get to do the fun mom scenes, that would be all that would matter.
[00:27:06] I drove across the border a week ago to go to Trader Joe's, if it makes sense.
[00:27:10] Hey, yeah.
[00:27:12] Already doing your research.
[00:27:13] Trader Joe's is great.
[00:27:14] It really is great.
[00:27:15] I don't have one in my area, but yeah, no.
[00:27:19] I think it would be a fun shoot.
[00:27:21] It would always be like, you know, well, the odds of it ever happening are very low.
[00:27:25] It would have to be like some producer somewhere would have to decide like it's happening and
[00:27:29] just talk to Scholastic and make it happen.
[00:27:32] But they've done pretty well with the franchise.
[00:27:34] We talked about this the last time.
[00:27:36] Like they've done pretty well with it, but they've never carried over any of the original characters
[00:27:40] from the series.
[00:27:40] But I don't know if that's a thing they want to do.
[00:27:42] I think they just wanted to kind of reinvent it and make it their own and start from scratch.
[00:27:46] So I think that's up to them.
[00:27:48] The closest we got was there was a 2008 book in the Horrorland series called The Scream of the Haunted Mask.
[00:27:54] And it did have Carly Beth and Sabrina as the main characters again.
[00:27:59] But I think that's the last time that those characters appeared in a book.
[00:28:04] And the other thing we got was the Haunted Mask in the Goosebumps movie,
[00:28:09] though it was just the mask on a little child actor.
[00:28:14] So I guess you could assume that was Carly Beth right there in the movie,
[00:28:18] but it was never outright confirmed.
[00:28:21] But we need to bring these characters back.
[00:28:23] I mean, it's been forever since we've seen them on screen.
[00:28:26] So we need to do that.
[00:28:28] I'm sure Colin would do it.
[00:28:29] I'm sure he'd be down.
[00:28:30] The Haunted Mask 3.
[00:28:31] As long as none of us sign buyouts this time.
[00:28:34] Nobody signs buyouts.
[00:28:36] We all sign on for royalties.
[00:28:38] None of that anymore.
[00:28:39] That was my biggest mistake.
[00:28:41] Yeah.
[00:28:44] Considering how big it got, you know, it could have been riding high.
[00:28:49] That would be like if you did Harry Potter and signed a buyout.
[00:28:53] Ooh.
[00:28:54] Oh, dude.
[00:28:55] That would be a huge loss.
[00:28:56] A million.
[00:28:57] Probably billions of dollars probably lost on if you did that for Harry Potter.
[00:29:03] God.
[00:29:04] They're doing a new Harry Potter TV series now.
[00:29:06] That's like just based on the books like the movies were.
[00:29:09] So like each season is like one book.
[00:29:11] So they're already remaking that.
[00:29:13] Well, yeah, you got a whole new generation to reintroduce it to.
[00:29:16] So Harry Potter is old now.
[00:29:18] It's like 10, 15 years old, right?
[00:29:20] Getting up there.
[00:29:21] Even that last movie was like 2011.
[00:29:23] It's like crazy.
[00:29:26] Yeah, it's crazy.
[00:29:27] But Harry Potter, I think, is coasting more off of merchandise where, you know, Goosebumps continues to have new movies and shows and all that stuff.
[00:29:36] So I think Goosebumps is winning here.
[00:29:38] I think so.
[00:29:39] I just believe that.
[00:29:40] In our book.
[00:29:41] We're preaching to the choir here, so.
[00:29:44] There may be some bias, but it's okay.
[00:29:47] Yeah.
[00:29:47] No.
[00:29:48] See, that out there is just for show.
[00:29:50] There's no bias.
[00:29:51] How are we doing with the fan questions?
[00:29:53] What are some other interesting ones?
[00:29:55] Well, another one we have is actually, have you kept up with any other cast members from the episodes?
[00:30:06] Oh, really?
[00:30:06] So not your brother, Catherine, or anything like that?
[00:30:12] No.
[00:30:13] No.
[00:30:14] What's Steve doing?
[00:30:16] I feel like Corey is like, last time I looked into it, he was in L.A. somewhere, still carrying on with his career.
[00:30:24] So no.
[00:30:25] Oh.
[00:30:26] We got to do more reunions in the future.
[00:30:28] Wasn't the actor who played Corey in Rent-A-Kid with you, Amos?
[00:30:33] Yeah, he was.
[00:30:35] Is that his name?
[00:30:36] Yeah.
[00:30:37] Yeah, Corey Sevier, yeah.
[00:30:38] Corey Sevier, yeah.
[00:30:39] Corey, yes.
[00:30:40] Yeah.
[00:30:41] Yeah?
[00:30:42] Yes.
[00:30:43] Yes.
[00:30:43] I'm going to adamantly say yes.
[00:30:47] Went through a whole range of emotions.
[00:30:49] Well, I opened IMDb into the window.
[00:30:52] Yeah.
[00:30:54] No, that's very interesting.
[00:30:56] It's been you three being in contact.
[00:30:58] That's pretty interesting.
[00:31:01] I found, I found Catherine.
[00:31:04] I think I found you.
[00:31:05] Or did you find me?
[00:31:06] I think I found you.
[00:31:08] No.
[00:31:10] I can't remember.
[00:31:11] But yes, we found each other.
[00:31:13] Yes.
[00:31:14] I feel like maybe I found you.
[00:31:17] Yeah, I forget how it happened.
[00:31:19] But anyways, I remember like our conversation.
[00:31:20] It was just like a burst of like emojis and we were just very excited.
[00:31:24] So yeah.
[00:31:25] Yeah.
[00:31:26] It had been a very long, very long period of time.
[00:31:29] It was really nice to see though that you were back in dance because I remember you would
[00:31:35] always talk about how important it was to you at that time.
[00:31:37] And I knew you were very involved in dance.
[00:31:39] So it's really nice to see you as an adult carrying that out and being successful in it.
[00:31:45] Yeah.
[00:31:45] I got lucky with putting in the work and just ending up where I hoped to be.
[00:31:50] So you kind of always plan to end up somewhere on purpose, but you never know if it's really
[00:31:54] going to work out.
[00:31:55] But oddly enough, I wasn't really it's funny because people have asked me this like, oh,
[00:32:00] why did you stop doing film?
[00:32:01] And I didn't really stop doing film because I really wanted to ditch film entirely and
[00:32:06] go into into dance.
[00:32:08] It's actually because and this is this is something I don't I don't think I've ever shared.
[00:32:12] But I have a I have an actual thermal allergy.
[00:32:16] Like I have a I have a condition called thermal demographism, cold or ticaria.
[00:32:20] So I actually I actually break out into hives if I if I'm in the cold too long.
[00:32:26] And so I just realized that this condition was getting worse as I was getting older.
[00:32:30] Like by the time we shot Haunted Mask 2, I was going through like I think we shot that
[00:32:35] in the fall again or close to like September, October.
[00:32:38] But when I would be on set and conditions would get really cold, I would break out into hives.
[00:32:42] And so if it gets bad enough, I would just break out on my whole face, which means you'd
[00:32:46] have to stop shooting.
[00:32:46] So I just realized, like, I'm going to do movies like Cold Mountain.
[00:32:51] I'm not going to survive.
[00:32:53] So I realized I wasn't really versatile enough with this condition to be in film long term.
[00:32:58] It was going to limit me.
[00:32:59] So I actually started to pull myself back out of film because of that.
[00:33:02] And had I not had that condition, I probably would have stayed in film and not gone into
[00:33:06] dances full time.
[00:33:07] They were both equally passionate for me.
[00:33:09] But because I had that condition, it made sense to me.
[00:33:13] I'm a bit of a linear thinker.
[00:33:14] I just thought, well, in ballet, I'm going to be in a warm studio all the time.
[00:33:17] I'm going to be in a theater 24-7.
[00:33:19] So it makes sense for me physically to do this as my long term thing and pursue that full
[00:33:24] tilt rather than go into film because I can't always be signing a contract saying, well,
[00:33:28] I have to be in warm conditions 24-7 and you'll have to stop filming for me when I break into
[00:33:32] it.
[00:33:33] You know, it just didn't seem realistic as an actor with having that limitation.
[00:33:37] So kind of sad in a sense, but also I ended up where I was supposed to be.
[00:33:40] So it was fine.
[00:33:41] But I don't think many people probably knew that.
[00:33:45] But an odd reason for me to leave film at the end.
[00:33:49] Yeah.
[00:33:50] So where are you then located right now?
[00:33:54] Hopefully in a warm fire.
[00:33:55] Somewhere warm, ironically.
[00:33:58] I mean, I would probably love to live somewhere.
[00:34:02] I would probably love to live like in California or Arizona, but don't like the taxes and the
[00:34:07] politics as much.
[00:34:08] So we won't go into that.
[00:34:09] But I'm in Washington state.
[00:34:12] I mean, Vancouver is the most like it's the warmest place you can live in Canada.
[00:34:17] So I lived in Vancouver for almost all of my 20s.
[00:34:21] I moved to where there was the least amount of winter, which in Canada is Vancouver and
[00:34:26] spent the most of my time there.
[00:34:27] I just couldn't do the winters on the East Coast anymore.
[00:34:29] If it gets if it gets below like like 15 Celsius, like if it gets below 60 Fahrenheit,
[00:34:37] I get into trouble.
[00:34:39] So for me, it's important to always live where I'm controlling my yeah, total like hard left
[00:34:45] there.
[00:34:45] But yeah, so it was just like a random thing that, you know.
[00:34:51] It impacted my life choices.
[00:34:53] But ballet is great.
[00:34:54] I'm in the studios, you know, warm and cozy all the time.
[00:34:58] So it works out.
[00:34:59] It does.
[00:34:59] Theater was a great second option.
[00:35:01] So I actually want another fan question we have, I guess, pivoting away from goosebumps
[00:35:07] for just a second.
[00:35:08] They actually wanted to ask about Amos and Catherine, your guys's time on Are You Afraid of the Dark?
[00:35:14] Because you two got to be in two different episodes.
[00:35:17] Amos, yours is one of the most popular episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark?
[00:35:20] And you were at the center of that one.
[00:35:22] So can you tell us a little bit about your time on those shows?
[00:35:26] Yeah.
[00:35:29] I was in the the Ghastly Grinner episode that Ron Oliver directed and wrote.
[00:35:37] And I think it would have been in between the two goosebumps.
[00:35:44] I could be wrong about that, but that would be my guess.
[00:35:47] But I remember we shot it in Montreal.
[00:35:49] We shot most of it in a comic book store.
[00:35:52] And I was like 13, 14 and hanging out in a comic book store while it was closed overnight,
[00:35:58] which was a pretty great perk.
[00:36:03] And what else do I remember about it?
[00:36:05] It was great.
[00:36:06] It was a lot of fun.
[00:36:08] Ron's great.
[00:36:10] And people still ask about it, which is kind of cool.
[00:36:13] It's kind of like doing this.
[00:36:15] It's these weird random things that happen to you when you're young.
[00:36:19] And then you end up being like a part of strangers lives,
[00:36:23] which is, you know, I'm pretty grateful for.
[00:36:28] And I think it's a great thing.
[00:36:29] Yeah, we listened to a lot of Nine Inch Nails while the camera wasn't rolling.
[00:36:35] That was kind of like, I remember we set the mood a lot by listening to Pretty Hate Machine on a little boombox.
[00:36:41] That's a big recollection for me.
[00:36:45] Well, and I remember, I'm glad that you brought up Ron Oliver,
[00:36:48] because when we did our episode with him,
[00:36:51] he spoke very highly of that Are You Afraid of the Dark episode
[00:36:54] as a fan of comic books and stuff like that.
[00:36:57] And how much of a treat that was to work on.
[00:37:00] And like I said, it's one of the most,
[00:37:02] when people think of Are You Afraid of the Dark,
[00:37:04] it's usually either Dead Man's Float with Kyak Erickson,
[00:37:08] or it's Gastly Grinner with you.
[00:37:11] So, I mean, it's just a testament to how scary the Gastly Grinner is.
[00:37:15] It was one of the...
[00:37:17] Traumatizing as a kid.
[00:37:20] Absolutely traumatizing.
[00:37:21] That creeped me out.
[00:37:22] Might miss for days, man.
[00:37:23] And then, Catherine, you were in The Tale of the Walking Shadow
[00:37:26] on Are You Afraid of the Dark.
[00:37:28] Do you have any recollection from that episode?
[00:37:31] I do, yes.
[00:37:34] Same as Amos, we shot that in Montreal,
[00:37:36] which was super fun.
[00:37:38] That was probably one of my favorite trips to shoot something.
[00:37:42] I really had a great time in Montreal.
[00:37:44] I think I was 15.
[00:37:49] And yeah, that's the first time I was in Montreal.
[00:37:51] And I got to do a lot of ballet while I was there too,
[00:37:54] which was great on that shoot.
[00:37:57] But I think it was Jay...
[00:37:59] What was his last name?
[00:38:02] It was my co-star in that one.
[00:38:08] Charmel, like I forget his last name.
[00:38:11] I'd have to look it up.
[00:38:12] But all I remember is that like,
[00:38:13] that was his first kiss on the show,
[00:38:16] but like in real life too.
[00:38:17] So I felt so bad for him
[00:38:18] because there was a kiss in that episode.
[00:38:19] And it was not my first kiss with a boy.
[00:38:22] So I was fine with it.
[00:38:23] But he was freaking out,
[00:38:25] like freaking out on set.
[00:38:26] And I could tell like he was just losing his,
[00:38:29] you know, proverbial shit.
[00:38:31] So it was really funny.
[00:38:35] So I felt bad for him though.
[00:38:37] It turned out fine.
[00:38:39] But that was,
[00:38:40] that was,
[00:38:40] that stood out to me the most in that episode
[00:38:42] was the whole buildup to that.
[00:38:44] Like, oh, what day are we shooting that?
[00:38:45] Oh, and he was like stressing.
[00:38:46] So,
[00:38:48] and now he's actually gone on
[00:38:49] to like a pretty,
[00:38:50] pretty awesome career in LA.
[00:38:51] So he's doing great.
[00:38:52] Oh, another successful child actor.
[00:38:55] Did you find it?
[00:38:57] Beruchel.
[00:38:57] Yeah.
[00:38:58] I thought it was like a B.
[00:38:59] I wasn't sure.
[00:38:59] Yeah.
[00:39:00] Jay Baruchel.
[00:39:01] Yeah.
[00:39:02] He's a funny kid though.
[00:39:03] He,
[00:39:03] he was like very,
[00:39:04] also very knowledgeable about film
[00:39:06] and really into knowing his directors.
[00:39:09] And so that,
[00:39:10] that was a fun shoot,
[00:39:11] but Montreal was great.
[00:39:13] Montreal is a great city to,
[00:39:15] to shoot in.
[00:39:16] And yeah,
[00:39:17] it was a fun episode.
[00:39:18] I did not like my wardrobe in that show either.
[00:39:20] It was really weird.
[00:39:22] I don't know why I get stuck with the crappy wardrobe.
[00:39:24] Sorry folks.
[00:39:26] First world problems.
[00:39:28] But yeah,
[00:39:29] it was a fun shoot though.
[00:39:32] Yeah,
[00:39:32] definitely.
[00:39:32] It was always said.
[00:39:33] Didn't they,
[00:39:34] didn't they make your outfit in that one like,
[00:39:36] look more like a French artist or something?
[00:39:39] Yeah.
[00:39:39] It's sort of like a slam.
[00:39:40] I don't know what they were doing,
[00:39:41] but it was,
[00:39:41] it was,
[00:39:42] it was a whole like bad target shopping spree situation.
[00:39:46] I don't know what was going on.
[00:39:47] It was,
[00:39:48] it was a hot mess,
[00:39:49] but I just remember the scene when they were doing the Macbeth.
[00:39:52] And then I,
[00:39:52] they put me in like this.
[00:39:55] It looked like a fricking,
[00:39:58] it was like a bald cap.
[00:39:59] Essentially.
[00:40:00] You just saw my face.
[00:40:01] Like,
[00:40:01] you know how you're supposed to lead to me,
[00:40:02] but I was like,
[00:40:04] dude,
[00:40:04] this is horrendous.
[00:40:06] It looked like a cone head,
[00:40:07] like in a velvet cap.
[00:40:08] Like I tried to tell them,
[00:40:10] this is not going to project well on screen.
[00:40:12] They just didn't care.
[00:40:13] I was like over it.
[00:40:14] It was fine.
[00:40:16] It's fine.
[00:40:16] That's awesome.
[00:40:18] Just ask for it.
[00:40:19] And trauma,
[00:40:19] right?
[00:40:20] Gamas.
[00:40:20] Thanks for that.
[00:40:22] Well,
[00:40:23] and it was always said that,
[00:40:24] are you afraid of the dark was the Montreal show?
[00:40:26] And then goosebumps was the Toronto show.
[00:40:29] So it was like those two shows took up those areas of,
[00:40:32] Canada,
[00:40:32] which was always funny when we heard about it.
[00:40:35] Going back to goosebumps.
[00:40:38] This is going to be a really quick one,
[00:40:39] but you know,
[00:40:40] as we,
[00:40:40] as goosebumps fans were always,
[00:40:41] you know,
[00:40:42] keeping an eye on new merch.
[00:40:43] And recently there's been a lot of new haunted mask merchandise that's comes out.
[00:40:48] So of course,
[00:40:49] at the start of the show,
[00:40:50] I showed this off.
[00:40:51] This is a latex,
[00:40:53] book accurate mask that just got released.
[00:40:56] I actually just got this in the mail like two days ago.
[00:40:59] So it looks just like the cover of the book.
[00:41:02] It's really,
[00:41:03] really well done,
[00:41:04] really well sculpted.
[00:41:05] Recently,
[00:41:06] a pop vinyl figure just came out of the haunted mask.
[00:41:10] Currently,
[00:41:10] the one that I was able to get my hands on.
[00:41:13] Bjorn has the regular one.
[00:41:14] This is the exclusive black light edition.
[00:41:16] So the colors are very like vibrant and they pop,
[00:41:21] pop vinyl.
[00:41:22] Ha ha.
[00:41:23] Then we had a graphic novel release of the book.
[00:41:27] This is a graphic novel adaptation of the original book.
[00:41:31] And it's really well done.
[00:41:33] We actually are.
[00:41:34] That's an anime.
[00:41:35] It's almost kind of like it,
[00:41:36] isn't it?
[00:41:37] It sort of has like.
[00:41:38] Yeah.
[00:41:39] It's meant to be like you.
[00:41:41] Yeah.
[00:41:41] But it's a really well done.
[00:41:43] I mean,
[00:41:44] look at,
[00:41:44] look at this drawing right here.
[00:41:47] Like it looks really good.
[00:41:49] We're actually.
[00:41:50] It looks like baby Yoda,
[00:41:52] but it does like more of a monstrous Yoda.
[00:41:55] Almost.
[00:41:55] Angry baby.
[00:41:55] It does actually.
[00:41:57] Angry.
[00:41:58] Angry baby.
[00:41:59] It's really well done.
[00:42:00] And we're actually in talks to talk with the,
[00:42:03] actually the illustrator of this graphic novel.
[00:42:05] So we're very excited about that one.
[00:42:07] And then finally we have,
[00:42:09] this was just released too.
[00:42:10] This is a backpack of the haunted mask.
[00:42:13] And it looks like.
[00:42:16] It's a really.
[00:42:17] I actually lounge in my backpack.
[00:42:19] Yeah.
[00:42:19] It's a really well done backpack.
[00:42:21] It looks like a goosebumps book.
[00:42:22] I'm looking for my kid.
[00:42:24] And I don't know if you can see,
[00:42:26] but if you open it up,
[00:42:27] there's like.
[00:42:27] It looks like it fell well in Japan.
[00:42:29] Goosebumps.
[00:42:30] Like G splats on the inside.
[00:42:32] Oh,
[00:42:33] like completely themed from the inside and out.
[00:42:36] So it's really nice.
[00:42:37] And it goes in the dark too.
[00:42:41] There was an unreleased one that Bjorn and I have that we think is a little
[00:42:45] better.
[00:42:45] And I don't know why they didn't release it,
[00:42:47] but.
[00:42:48] It's a,
[00:42:48] it's a pretty nice bag.
[00:42:50] Like.
[00:42:50] I don't buy lounge fly.
[00:42:51] Cause they're like meant for.
[00:42:53] Like.
[00:42:54] Mostly women.
[00:42:56] There's smaller.
[00:42:58] And they're expensive.
[00:43:00] Yeah.
[00:43:00] Didn't stop me.
[00:43:02] Yeah.
[00:43:03] But.
[00:43:03] Doesn't,
[00:43:04] doesn't stop a true goosebumps fan.
[00:43:05] So,
[00:43:05] you know,
[00:43:05] we all had to have a haunted mask.
[00:43:07] Some type.
[00:43:08] Maybe that's why the mask doesn't go off.
[00:43:10] Yeah.
[00:43:11] Right.
[00:43:12] Yeah.
[00:43:13] So to,
[00:43:14] to go off of goosebumps just for a minute.
[00:43:17] So did you guys,
[00:43:18] when you were younger.
[00:43:18] Uh,
[00:43:20] celebrate Halloween at all.
[00:43:21] Since this is a Halloween episode.
[00:43:23] Mm hmm.
[00:43:24] Yeah.
[00:43:24] Any Halloween memories?
[00:43:26] I mean,
[00:43:27] yeah.
[00:43:27] Favorite costume or Halloween memory that you guys have.
[00:43:31] Definitely went out and did the whole trick or treating thing.
[00:43:34] But I was saying this to my friends the other day,
[00:43:36] like for some reason.
[00:43:38] I wasn't really allowed to dress up as like anything evil.
[00:43:41] So I was usually like something pretty benign,
[00:43:44] but.
[00:43:46] My kid is all about Halloween.
[00:43:48] Our whole street is just like,
[00:43:50] it looks like Dollarama threw up all of our front lawns.
[00:43:54] There is.
[00:43:55] Yeah.
[00:43:55] Skeletons.
[00:43:57] Bats.
[00:43:58] All the things on the front lawn right now.
[00:44:00] So,
[00:44:00] um,
[00:44:01] yes,
[00:44:02] I did do Halloween,
[00:44:03] but it was pretty like.
[00:44:04] What's your kid doing is,
[00:44:05] Catherine?
[00:44:06] Sorry.
[00:44:06] It's going to be Tron Legacy.
[00:44:08] Okay.
[00:44:09] Of course.
[00:44:10] Tron Legacy.
[00:44:12] That's really cool.
[00:44:14] What about you,
[00:44:15] Amos?
[00:44:15] Did you celebrate Halloween?
[00:44:17] Uh,
[00:44:18] yeah,
[00:44:18] I think so.
[00:44:19] I mean,
[00:44:19] I did the trick or treating thing and stuff.
[00:44:20] I seem to recall that I was adamant always about really,
[00:44:23] uh,
[00:44:24] traditional costumes.
[00:44:25] Like I was like vampire,
[00:44:27] werewolf,
[00:44:28] like no newfangled.
[00:44:31] Pirate.
[00:44:32] No,
[00:44:32] no pirate.
[00:44:33] Pirate.
[00:44:34] Yeah.
[00:44:34] Pirate.
[00:44:34] One year,
[00:44:36] Kayla Savage and I,
[00:44:38] who was a neighbor and a friend of mine,
[00:44:40] we went as a bride and groom,
[00:44:42] but we were gender swapped.
[00:44:44] I wore my,
[00:44:44] my aunt's confirmation dress as a wedding dress.
[00:44:50] Kayla put on a suit and,
[00:44:52] and put fake facial hair on.
[00:44:55] And everyone asked if we were sisters,
[00:44:58] which was deep.
[00:45:01] Did you have a photo?
[00:45:03] Was this the time that you had the long hair?
[00:45:04] a photo where it didn't happen.
[00:45:06] Okay.
[00:45:08] I mean,
[00:45:08] there must be photographic evidence somewhere in a shoebox because,
[00:45:11] right.
[00:45:12] In a shoebox.
[00:45:12] Yeah.
[00:45:13] Picture with a phone.
[00:45:14] Yeah.
[00:45:15] Oh my God.
[00:45:16] It's really funny.
[00:45:17] Somebody comes up and just be like,
[00:45:18] are you two sisters?
[00:45:19] And here's like,
[00:45:20] what?
[00:45:21] Yeah.
[00:45:22] I started like speaking with a really low voice.
[00:45:25] It was like,
[00:45:27] yeah,
[00:45:27] my 11 year old hyper masculinity.
[00:45:31] I love that.
[00:45:33] I love that so much.
[00:45:34] What about you,
[00:45:35] Catherine?
[00:45:36] Oh man.
[00:45:37] Yeah.
[00:45:37] We did Halloween growing up.
[00:45:39] I think the main thing when you're young is like doing Halloween at
[00:45:41] school,
[00:45:41] like going to school in your costume for like the whole like school
[00:45:44] parade.
[00:45:45] And then,
[00:45:46] you know,
[00:45:47] worrying incessantly about what you're going to wear to school and if
[00:45:49] it's going to be cool enough and whatnot.
[00:45:51] But honestly,
[00:45:52] one of my favorite costumes was when I was in kindergarten and I had
[00:45:57] like a steady boyfriend in kindergarten.
[00:45:59] That's another story for another episode,
[00:46:01] but he,
[00:46:02] he was He-Man and I was Shira.
[00:46:05] And if you know anything about eighties TV and,
[00:46:09] and,
[00:46:10] and comics and stuff,
[00:46:11] that was a big deal.
[00:46:12] And so we went matching as He-Man and Shira to kindergarten for
[00:46:16] Halloween.
[00:46:17] And there is photo evidence of that somewhere,
[00:46:19] but I thought that was like the big,
[00:46:21] like the coolest thing to ever happen to me.
[00:46:24] Because we were madly in love and we had matching costumes and it
[00:46:27] was the best day of my life.
[00:46:29] Where,
[00:46:29] where is this guy?
[00:46:30] Five year old life.
[00:46:31] Yeah.
[00:46:33] Yeah.
[00:46:33] That was really,
[00:46:34] it was,
[00:46:34] that was fun.
[00:46:35] I mean,
[00:46:35] Shira and He-Man,
[00:46:36] that was some amazing stuff back then when cartoons were very
[00:46:40] primitive.
[00:46:41] I mean,
[00:46:41] you look at the video of Skeletor and he's like,
[00:46:43] ah,
[00:46:44] ah,
[00:46:44] ah,
[00:46:44] it's like,
[00:46:45] it's such bad animation,
[00:46:47] but we were so into it.
[00:46:49] Um,
[00:46:50] I love that show so much as a kid.
[00:46:52] So that was probably one of my favorite costumes.
[00:46:56] Uh,
[00:46:57] I guess another,
[00:46:59] another question,
[00:47:00] uh,
[00:47:01] best Halloween candy in your opinion.
[00:47:04] Candy corn.
[00:47:05] Candy corn.
[00:47:06] Thank you.
[00:47:08] Oh,
[00:47:09] I don't understand the hate for candy corn.
[00:47:10] It drives me crazy.
[00:47:12] Either you love it or you hate it.
[00:47:13] Yeah.
[00:47:14] I don't,
[00:47:14] I don't hate it,
[00:47:15] but I don't like it.
[00:47:17] I gotta say Mars.
[00:47:19] Mars bar.
[00:47:20] Yes.
[00:47:21] Mars bar.
[00:47:22] That nougat.
[00:47:23] It's so good.
[00:47:24] I like the little,
[00:47:26] uh,
[00:47:26] cubes of caramel.
[00:47:29] Like it's a real.
[00:47:30] Yeah.
[00:47:30] Oh yeah.
[00:47:31] Those are good too.
[00:47:32] And they'd stick in your teeth for days.
[00:47:35] Yes.
[00:47:36] Big candy.
[00:47:38] I feel like,
[00:47:38] I feel like Reese's pieces is the most popular with kids.
[00:47:40] So like everyone wants the Reese's pieces,
[00:47:42] buttercups when you go,
[00:47:43] unless they have a peanut allergy,
[00:47:44] but that's the one kids are like,
[00:47:45] do you have any Reese's when you get to the door?
[00:47:48] Yeah.
[00:47:49] We don't have those here Reese's pieces.
[00:47:51] It really sucks.
[00:47:52] We don't have them in Australia.
[00:47:54] No,
[00:47:55] we don't have them.
[00:47:56] It's like,
[00:47:57] yeah,
[00:47:58] I don't know.
[00:47:58] I mean,
[00:47:58] some stores I'm sure would import them,
[00:48:00] but like,
[00:48:01] we don't have them in like the main supermarkets here.
[00:48:04] Dude,
[00:48:05] I'm sending,
[00:48:05] I'm sending Reese's in your next box.
[00:48:07] That's like,
[00:48:08] Oh,
[00:48:08] thank you.
[00:48:09] I appreciate it.
[00:48:10] That's insane.
[00:48:11] No,
[00:48:12] and I've always been partial to either Skittles or Twix.
[00:48:16] Like those are my favorites.
[00:48:17] So like you get like the little fun size Twix in your bag.
[00:48:20] Now,
[00:48:21] recently they've been doing Twix that are like,
[00:48:23] Ghoulish green.
[00:48:24] Ghoulish green in the middle.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:26] They have like,
[00:48:26] they color the cookie green.
[00:48:28] So you bite into it and it's like green with the caramel.
[00:48:31] And it's,
[00:48:31] I mean,
[00:48:32] it's basically the same thing as a Twix,
[00:48:33] but I actually wanted to tell a really quick story about a Halloween costume of mine.
[00:48:44] I remember in 2019,
[00:48:46] I went as Spider-Man.
[00:48:48] So Spider-Man far from home came out very recently.
[00:48:51] And I had a map,
[00:48:52] a costume that was like sort of like one of those skin tight ones.
[00:48:57] And it looked like the one from the movie.
[00:48:58] And I got some web shooters.
[00:48:59] It was,
[00:48:59] it was cool.
[00:49:01] But we barely missed trick or trick.
[00:49:03] Treating because we went on a Disney cruise at the time.
[00:49:06] And,
[00:49:06] uh,
[00:49:07] they were doing a whole Halloween cruise.
[00:49:09] It was great.
[00:49:09] But,
[00:49:10] uh,
[00:49:10] one day they were doing a Marvel meet and greet.
[00:49:12] And I was like,
[00:49:13] I have a great idea.
[00:49:16] So I dressed up as Spider-Man and I went to get a picture with Thor,
[00:49:20] I think.
[00:49:20] Um,
[00:49:21] and when I was in line,
[00:49:23] I had a little hand,
[00:49:25] like,
[00:49:25] or like a little hand,
[00:49:26] like tap me behind.
[00:49:27] And I was like,
[00:49:28] I turned around and the little kid was like,
[00:49:30] Hey,
[00:49:31] Spider-Man,
[00:49:31] can I get a picture with you?
[00:49:34] And the parents were like,
[00:49:35] yeah,
[00:49:35] can our son get a picture with you?
[00:49:37] And I'm like,
[00:49:38] sure.
[00:49:38] So I like did the whole thing.
[00:49:39] I'm like,
[00:49:39] Oh,
[00:49:40] that was nice.
[00:49:41] But then I like had 15 parents coming up to me.
[00:49:45] So I don't know if they thought I was like a character actor or
[00:49:47] something,
[00:49:47] but I suddenly had my own line in this line to get pictures with me as
[00:49:53] Spider-Man.
[00:49:53] And,
[00:49:54] and,
[00:49:54] uh,
[00:49:54] eventually a Disney employee had to come up and be like,
[00:49:57] you know,
[00:49:57] like,
[00:49:58] you know,
[00:49:58] we,
[00:49:58] we appreciate what you're doing,
[00:50:00] but company policy says you can't do that.
[00:50:02] So I was like,
[00:50:03] all right.
[00:50:05] I remember like a little kid,
[00:50:07] one little kid had like a little video camera or like camera and it
[00:50:11] prints little pictures out and they got a picture with it.
[00:50:14] And then they gave me the printout picture and I still have it.
[00:50:17] I think it's in my closet.
[00:50:18] And I was like,
[00:50:19] Oh,
[00:50:19] that's so nice.
[00:50:21] Well,
[00:50:22] that must've meant you had a really good costume.
[00:50:24] Must've been a good costume.
[00:50:25] It was.
[00:50:26] I tried to go as authentic as possible.
[00:50:28] So,
[00:50:28] uh,
[00:50:29] that's all I always do.
[00:50:30] My costumes.
[00:50:31] I went as Michael Myers one year and I like bought an actual jumpsuit and
[00:50:35] I like messed with it.
[00:50:37] I put like fake blood over it.
[00:50:39] I cut holes in it.
[00:50:41] And,
[00:50:41] uh,
[00:50:41] I even like put some liquid latex on it to make it look like it was burnt.
[00:50:45] So like it was charcoal on the shoulder right here.
[00:50:48] Um,
[00:50:49] and it was great.
[00:50:50] I,
[00:50:50] I think a lot of people were like,
[00:50:51] look at me funny on the street.
[00:50:55] They're like,
[00:50:55] all right,
[00:50:56] let's just,
[00:50:56] let's go over.
[00:50:57] You committed,
[00:50:58] you committed to the whole thing.
[00:50:59] I appreciate that.
[00:51:00] Definitely.
[00:51:01] Definitely.
[00:51:01] You gotta be committed on Halloween.
[00:51:04] That's true.
[00:51:05] Definitely.
[00:51:06] I tell everybody,
[00:51:06] I was like,
[00:51:11] I have a Honda mass cosplay that I do.
[00:51:14] Um,
[00:51:15] and then we have,
[00:51:16] uh,
[00:51:17] uh,
[00:51:18] separate,
[00:51:18] I think Bjorn,
[00:51:19] you did RL Stein.
[00:51:21] I did from the intro goose bump show.
[00:51:24] So yeah,
[00:51:25] the briefcase.
[00:51:26] So he got like a whole briefcase that,
[00:51:27] and all that stuff that flew out.
[00:51:29] It was pretty cool.
[00:51:30] It was hot,
[00:51:31] man.
[00:51:31] Cause it was in the middle of summer in Australia.
[00:51:34] Oh yeah.
[00:51:36] And I had to keep taking like,
[00:51:38] cause I wore like a mole suit underneath.
[00:51:40] Cause I wanted to do the whole,
[00:51:41] like you can't see me at all.
[00:51:42] And then I was carrying slappy around with me too.
[00:51:44] So that was like heavy.
[00:51:46] So yeah,
[00:51:46] I was,
[00:51:47] I was dying,
[00:51:49] but,
[00:51:49] um,
[00:51:49] yeah,
[00:51:49] I got so many different photos and usually it was just like people saying
[00:51:53] like,
[00:51:53] I can't believe you did this costume.
[00:51:56] Like they expected me to dress up as like the haunted mask or slappy
[00:51:59] himself or one of them.
[00:51:59] But they were like,
[00:52:00] you did this costume.
[00:52:02] I did not expect that.
[00:52:03] Yeah.
[00:52:04] And that was,
[00:52:04] uh,
[00:52:04] it was a good time.
[00:52:05] Definitely.
[00:52:06] What would you guys say,
[00:52:08] uh,
[00:52:09] scares you?
[00:52:09] You know,
[00:52:10] we talk a lot about Halloween and scary stuff,
[00:52:12] but what would you guys say?
[00:52:13] Like scares you?
[00:52:15] Processed food,
[00:52:16] social media,
[00:52:16] medical system.
[00:52:18] Oh,
[00:52:19] social media,
[00:52:20] adult things.
[00:52:22] Yeah.
[00:52:23] I don't think that my answer would be the same in 2000,
[00:52:26] like,
[00:52:27] or financial debt or whatever.
[00:52:30] Um,
[00:52:31] yeah.
[00:52:31] Climate change.
[00:52:34] Yeah.
[00:52:35] It's like,
[00:52:36] uh,
[00:52:36] it's like what they say.
[00:52:37] You conquer your childhood fears,
[00:52:39] but you're overwhelmed with adult anxieties.
[00:52:42] Yeah.
[00:52:43] Two party political system.
[00:52:45] I mean,
[00:52:45] we could go deep here.
[00:52:46] I mean,
[00:52:47] uh,
[00:52:48] yeah,
[00:52:48] there's a lot of things that scare us.
[00:52:50] I think,
[00:52:50] you know,
[00:52:52] uh,
[00:52:54] stuff like that.
[00:52:55] Student loans.
[00:52:56] The IRS.
[00:52:57] I mean,
[00:52:57] the list gets longer.
[00:52:59] Um,
[00:53:00] yeah,
[00:53:00] no,
[00:53:00] uh,
[00:53:01] yeah,
[00:53:02] I don't know.
[00:53:02] I don't have any,
[00:53:03] like any fears per se.
[00:53:06] Um,
[00:53:07] I have umbrella phobia.
[00:53:09] Like,
[00:53:09] I don't like umbrellas.
[00:53:10] They make me really uncomfortable.
[00:53:12] Really?
[00:53:13] Yeah.
[00:53:14] How do you navigate the way?
[00:53:16] That's so vulnerable to share.
[00:53:17] Random thing that they just,
[00:53:19] they,
[00:53:20] yeah,
[00:53:20] I don't like umbrellas.
[00:53:21] man.
[00:53:22] I,
[00:53:22] I don't like walking barefoot on long grass.
[00:53:26] Oh yeah.
[00:53:26] I don't like that either.
[00:53:28] It makes,
[00:53:28] it creeps me out.
[00:53:29] Like what could be in the grass and it feels weird.
[00:53:31] It's like a sensory thing.
[00:53:33] I don't like it.
[00:53:34] Mm hmm.
[00:53:34] Yeah.
[00:53:35] Or like laying down in open grass.
[00:53:37] I'm just like,
[00:53:37] I'm just thinking about what's crawling under.
[00:53:39] underneath me.
[00:53:40] It's gross.
[00:53:40] Well,
[00:53:41] I don't mean to open grass.
[00:53:44] Trypophobia.
[00:53:45] I'm a big fan of pigeons.
[00:53:48] Like pigeons.
[00:53:50] Pigeons.
[00:53:51] Any kind of bird that can come down and take your food or peck at you.
[00:53:56] Not a fan.
[00:53:57] That's fair.
[00:53:58] Between the three of us,
[00:53:59] we're never hanging out in Central Park on a rainy day.
[00:54:02] Like it's just.
[00:54:03] Oh my gosh.
[00:54:04] That'd be a nightmare waiting to happen.
[00:54:07] Oh my gosh.
[00:54:07] You guys would.
[00:54:08] You did it here.
[00:54:08] You were a pain.
[00:54:10] Yeah.
[00:54:11] Yeah.
[00:54:12] In Central Park in the rain with croutons or something.
[00:54:16] Croutons.
[00:54:16] Yeah.
[00:54:17] Croutons.
[00:54:18] An old man just sitting on the,
[00:54:20] on the bench just like.
[00:54:22] Feeding the birds.
[00:54:23] With an umbrella.
[00:54:25] Yeah.
[00:54:26] Pigeons are really nasty,
[00:54:28] like really dirty creatures though.
[00:54:30] So I don't blame you.
[00:54:31] They call them rats with wings.
[00:54:33] They are rats with wings.
[00:54:34] They're aggressive.
[00:54:35] Rats with wings.
[00:54:37] Yeah.
[00:54:38] Yeah.
[00:54:39] Essentially.
[00:54:40] And then here in Australia,
[00:54:41] we're like,
[00:54:41] don't go into the forest.
[00:54:43] Cause you might get bitten by a really dangerous spider.
[00:54:46] That'll kill you in two seconds.
[00:54:47] Don't go swimming in the river.
[00:54:48] Cause you might get eaten by a crocodile.
[00:54:49] And we're just like,
[00:54:50] no,
[00:54:51] okay.
[00:54:52] It's just a normal day.
[00:54:54] As Canadians say,
[00:54:55] that's why we live where the air hurts our face.
[00:54:58] Because that's when,
[00:54:59] you know,
[00:54:59] nothing's going to kill you.
[00:55:00] So I,
[00:55:01] I was going to say,
[00:55:02] Well,
[00:55:03] in your case,
[00:55:04] maybe.
[00:55:08] It's true though.
[00:55:08] In Australia,
[00:55:09] there's like a thousand things that can kill you.
[00:55:11] I mean,
[00:55:11] I was in Australia once and then they were like,
[00:55:13] yeah,
[00:55:13] you shouldn't be walking through there because there's scorpions.
[00:55:15] I was like,
[00:55:16] Oh,
[00:55:16] it wasn't thinking about that.
[00:55:18] Not a frame of reference for that.
[00:55:20] So.
[00:55:21] Just be like,
[00:55:22] can we like quarantine that whole spot then?
[00:55:24] You know,
[00:55:25] you know,
[00:55:27] as many devils.
[00:55:29] Oh God.
[00:55:29] The sun is only just starting to like rise now too.
[00:55:32] So it's like,
[00:55:33] I've just noticed.
[00:55:34] My time is there.
[00:55:34] You get up early for these things.
[00:55:36] You have to get them all the night.
[00:55:37] Yeah.
[00:55:38] It's like 10 past four.
[00:55:39] So like the sun has just slowly been rising.
[00:55:41] So like my lighting has just slowly been changing throughout this video.
[00:55:46] I've just been noticing it slightly changed.
[00:55:48] I'm like,
[00:55:49] well,
[00:55:49] since we are coming to the end of everything,
[00:55:51] I want to ask just sort of a,
[00:55:54] a last question for all three of you.
[00:55:57] What do you guys think?
[00:55:58] You know,
[00:55:58] we always talk about the Haunted Mask.
[00:56:00] We called it objectively the best episode of the whole show.
[00:56:04] It's one of the best goosebump stories,
[00:56:05] period.
[00:56:07] What do you guys think makes that story so special?
[00:56:09] What would you guys say?
[00:56:10] I think that as a parent and like objectively watching my children navigate
[00:56:21] emotional outbursts,
[00:56:23] not always paired with emotional maturity.
[00:56:27] It's a,
[00:56:28] it's such a tough thing at a certain age.
[00:56:30] And I wonder if the story kind of resonates because by masking it,
[00:56:35] by hiding it,
[00:56:36] you get to release this thing that you don't quite understand,
[00:56:40] um,
[00:56:42] um,
[00:56:43] in a safe or powerful way at a time in your life where you don't feel very
[00:56:48] powerful.
[00:56:49] Um,
[00:56:52] maybe I'm putting too much on it,
[00:56:53] but like,
[00:56:54] I don't know if,
[00:56:55] if it resonates,
[00:56:55] that might be why.
[00:56:57] It seems to me in talking to kids,
[00:57:01] uh,
[00:57:01] who really liked the show,
[00:57:03] um,
[00:57:04] or,
[00:57:05] or the genre in general,
[00:57:06] there's a lot of sensitive souls,
[00:57:09] um,
[00:57:09] that seem to gravitate towards it as a,
[00:57:12] as a benchmark memory.
[00:57:14] And I wonder if that has something to do with it.
[00:57:17] Or maybe my kids are just weird.
[00:57:19] I can agree with that.
[00:57:20] No,
[00:57:21] I can agree with all that.
[00:57:22] I mean,
[00:57:23] you know,
[00:57:23] it can just be weird.
[00:57:24] I mean,
[00:57:25] we actually have a Facebook group,
[00:57:27] um,
[00:57:28] that someone had joined recently and they are doing a drag,
[00:57:32] a drag parody of the haunted mask.
[00:57:35] Something I never thought I'd see in my life,
[00:57:37] but I was like,
[00:57:37] you know,
[00:57:37] my,
[00:57:38] uh,
[00:57:38] my Halloween costume from when I was a bride,
[00:57:41] you know,
[00:57:43] maybe,
[00:57:44] maybe the photo is already out there somewhere.
[00:57:47] I'll take an inspiration here.
[00:57:49] Exactly.
[00:57:50] Wait,
[00:57:50] did you say a drag parody of the haunted mask?
[00:57:53] Indeed.
[00:57:54] I did.
[00:57:54] Yes.
[00:57:54] Your ears.
[00:57:55] They'll probably have better wardrobe than me.
[00:57:58] A hundred percent.
[00:58:04] Maybe.
[00:58:04] Who knows?
[00:58:06] Now it is Halloween season.
[00:58:09] What movie do you three go to during the Halloween season?
[00:58:13] Nightmare before Christmas.
[00:58:15] You have a,
[00:58:15] mm-hmm.
[00:58:16] Ah,
[00:58:16] it's a good one.
[00:58:17] I love that one.
[00:58:18] Yeah.
[00:58:20] Cause it's sort of split in between.
[00:58:21] So you get like Christmas and then you also get Halloween.
[00:58:25] So.
[00:58:26] Yeah.
[00:58:27] I would say if there's one,
[00:58:28] I'd have to pick Beetlejuice.
[00:58:29] I know it's not like a Halloween movie,
[00:58:31] but it's still like the epic one from my childhood.
[00:58:34] It counts.
[00:58:34] Kind of blew my mind.
[00:58:35] It does.
[00:58:36] It was a good one.
[00:58:37] Uh,
[00:58:38] I haven't seen the second one yet.
[00:58:40] The hills have eyes.
[00:58:40] They're good things.
[00:58:41] The hills have eyes.
[00:58:42] The hills have eyes.
[00:58:43] Dang,
[00:58:44] bro.
[00:58:44] That's a good one.
[00:58:45] Yeah.
[00:58:45] Yeah.
[00:58:45] I got that.
[00:58:46] That's so crazy.
[00:58:47] I just watched the remake last night.
[00:58:50] The two,
[00:58:50] I've never seen the remake,
[00:58:52] but,
[00:58:52] but the one with it's got Ted Levine from,
[00:58:54] um,
[00:58:55] uh,
[00:58:56] silence of the lambs who plays Buffalo Bill and he plays like a family,
[00:58:59] like dad.
[00:59:00] And I'm like,
[00:59:00] this is just weird.
[00:59:03] What a contrast.
[00:59:04] Cause all I,
[00:59:05] all I hear,
[00:59:06] all I hear is,
[00:59:07] um,
[00:59:08] Buffalo Bill when he speaks.
[00:59:09] I'm like,
[00:59:09] God damn,
[00:59:09] this is weird.
[00:59:10] it's not bad.
[00:59:11] The remake it's,
[00:59:12] it's definitely just more gory and,
[00:59:14] you know,
[00:59:15] obviously it's more modern,
[00:59:16] but it wasn't too bad.
[00:59:18] I didn't mind the remake.
[00:59:20] Um,
[00:59:20] my very last question for you guys,
[00:59:22] before we end off the night,
[00:59:24] um,
[00:59:25] you know,
[00:59:25] we,
[00:59:25] we've been talking about how the goosebumps fans,
[00:59:28] you know,
[00:59:28] resonate with this episode and all that stuff.
[00:59:30] What do you three have to say to the whole goosebumps fan base about,
[00:59:34] uh,
[00:59:35] you know,
[00:59:35] their enjoyment of this episode?
[00:59:37] Like,
[00:59:37] what do you guys think of that long lasting appeal?
[00:59:39] Yeah.
[00:59:40] Let's just say thanks for being diehard fans.
[00:59:42] I mean,
[00:59:42] it's,
[00:59:42] it's a big thing to stick with a franchise for over 20 years,
[00:59:46] uh,
[00:59:47] and to be still really super connected to it.
[00:59:50] Um,
[00:59:51] yeah,
[00:59:52] it's an era of television that we'll never get back.
[00:59:54] So it's nice that people still appreciate it and,
[00:59:57] uh,
[00:59:58] and connect with it and still find relevance in it.
[01:00:01] I think what Amos said,
[01:00:02] I'm.
[01:00:03] You know,
[01:00:04] there is a depth to that episode,
[01:00:06] especially with it being the first one,
[01:00:07] but,
[01:00:07] um,
[01:00:08] having a character and by the way,
[01:00:10] how dare you trivialized Carly best preteen angst.
[01:00:12] Like she was going through it.
[01:00:14] Okay.
[01:00:15] Um,
[01:00:16] and that resonated with a lot of people in our generation because nobody
[01:00:18] really talked about stuff like that back then.
[01:00:21] There wasn't a,
[01:00:22] there weren't me too movements and bullying campaigns.
[01:00:24] It was just like survive,
[01:00:26] survive school kids and maybe get therapy when you're 25.
[01:00:30] You know,
[01:00:30] that wasn't a thing back then.
[01:00:32] Um,
[01:00:33] so for,
[01:00:34] for,
[01:00:34] you know,
[01:00:35] for them to have shows like that as potentially an out,
[01:00:38] an outlet where they could relate to characters that were going through
[01:00:41] stuff and then be able to process that on their own in their bedroom at
[01:00:44] night or whatnot.
[01:00:45] I think that still relates to a lot of people,
[01:00:47] our age now,
[01:00:48] um,
[01:00:49] that had shows like that to help them through stuff.
[01:00:51] Like people had Mr.
[01:00:52] Rogers or other,
[01:00:53] you know,
[01:00:54] other shows to help them get through stuff without realizing that that was
[01:00:57] sort of therapy.
[01:00:58] Um,
[01:00:58] I don't think we realized that the show had that impact,
[01:01:01] but I'm glad that people connect with it and see that show.
[01:01:05] I think I've seen comments from people like fans,
[01:01:07] like that show helped me get through this in my childhood or help me relate to X.
[01:01:11] And,
[01:01:11] um,
[01:01:12] I think that's a beautiful thing because we didn't have the resources as much
[01:01:15] back then to,
[01:01:16] to help us deal with our,
[01:01:18] our crap.
[01:01:18] So,
[01:01:19] so yeah,
[01:01:20] I think it's,
[01:01:21] I think it's a great thing.
[01:01:22] So thanks for sticking with us.
[01:01:23] Yeah,
[01:01:24] definitely.
[01:01:25] Uh,
[01:01:25] I mean,
[01:01:26] like I said,
[01:01:27] it's,
[01:01:27] it's been awesome to just kind of grow up with these books and the TV show
[01:01:31] and whatever came our way with the goosebumps series.
[01:01:34] It was always,
[01:01:35] uh,
[01:01:35] kind of there for hundreds,
[01:01:38] thousands,
[01:01:39] hundreds of thousands of kids.
[01:01:41] Uh,
[01:01:41] back then and now,
[01:01:43] and,
[01:01:43] you know,
[01:01:44] as we've,
[01:01:45] as we've talked about before,
[01:01:46] you know,
[01:01:46] generations of kids now are getting reintroduced to these stories and,
[01:01:50] uh,
[01:01:51] you know,
[01:01:52] your guys's performances and those episodes will be immortal forever,
[01:01:57] forever.
[01:01:59] So,
[01:01:59] is the most iconic goosebumps episode.
[01:02:02] Like there's literally,
[01:02:03] um,
[01:02:04] videos online where people just say,
[01:02:05] can we just still agree that this is the best episode?
[01:02:07] And that's generally what they'll say.
[01:02:09] Like at the end of like a whole,
[01:02:10] like,
[01:02:11] you know,
[01:02:11] episode 74 ranking or something.
[01:02:13] So yeah,
[01:02:14] it's definitely,
[01:02:15] um,
[01:02:17] forever going to be immortal.
[01:02:18] But that episode is,
[01:02:20] uh,
[01:02:20] you know,
[01:02:21] iconic for a reason.
[01:02:22] And it's because of you three.
[01:02:23] So,
[01:02:24] uh,
[01:02:24] you know,
[01:02:25] you guys are the ones that made that what it is.
[01:02:28] So we have you to thank for that one.
[01:02:30] Anchor to it.
[01:02:32] And always in one,
[01:02:33] but,
[01:02:34] uh,
[01:02:34] that is going to do it for tonight's episode of the goosebumps crew podcast.
[01:02:38] And we want to thank obviously our three guests,
[01:02:40] Catherine long,
[01:02:41] Catherine short,
[01:02:41] and Amos Crawley for joining us once again.
[01:02:43] We're very happy to have you back.
[01:02:45] And as I always say,
[01:02:46] we'd be happy to have you on again.
[01:02:48] So thank you guys so much.
[01:02:50] Thank you.
